Great place to get away from the city and walk in nature. They have lots of turtles, a few goats and hens, and other animals. Cute exhibit building with nicely painted murals and taxidermy. The grounds seemed to be under maintained- the wild look. Would have been nice if the plants were labeled so that you would know what you are looking at. Overall, nice place especially for kids.

Great place! Lots of well-kept and marked trails, both paved and not. My 4 year old loved the animals, the turtle touch tank, and the boardwalk. Also has a great place for picnicking at the amphitheater and benches along each of the trails. The bathroom is a little tight but its clean and theres also a water fountain inside, or you can buy bottled water or Gatorade if you prefer. Bring snacks/lunch and make it a day.

My husband and I went here this past Saturday and it was so much fun! The trails were beautiful, a perfect walk for a breezy Florida fall afternoon. The staff member who checked us in was very friendly and gave us information about everything we could do there. I loved seeing the animals in the nature center and especially enjoyed the turtle touch tank. There were even some friendly goats and chickens roaming around outside. I definitely recommend to anyone looking for a short escape in nature.

The staff is rude, especially the lady who leads the animal encounter. If they only want certain age groups, then that needs to be posted and implemented. The ampitheater was covered in ants so you couldnt even watch the show comfortably. Not to mention the black widow spider web with the widow in it right in the middle of the seating area. The bathrooms were disgusting. What trails we did take seemed to be okay. Theres a small amount of animals to see, and a mini museum type thing. You can touch the turtles which is cool. Besides the encounter lady making my 5 year old cry, my kids seemed to have a decent time, and thats the only reason Im giving 2 stars instead of 1. Overall I was not impressed, and will not be returning again. Even if the place was sparkling clean and amazing, I dont deal well with people being hateful when it comes to my children.

Definitely a hidden jewel in the middle of Jacksonville - tucked away in Arlington on 50+ acres. I would say about half the trails are wheelchair accessible, but tennis shoes are a MUST. Some trails are very rugged and can be slippery. The staff were incredibly friendly. Animals include goats, alligators, tortoises, an owl, plus its a great opportunity for bird watchers. I was disappointed though that 2 of the 3 boardwalks were closed off and damage. They also have a community garden and free compost!

I absolutely loved my visit! A true gem, in the middle of Arlington. All of the trails are just beautiful, all natural at its best! I met Nicole, the gardener, and she picked two fresh banana peppers and gave them to me! Lots of okra was ready too. My only issue was the dock to the stream, on red bay branch trail was currently closed due to a tree that had fallen, but, I will definitely be back to see it! For only a 5.00 donation, its a great treat for nature lovers and kids! Goats and chickens, turtles and alligators! A must see!

I go to a lot of parks in and outside Jax, and this is a different experience! I wasnf sure what to expect with a park near the city, but when walking around the trails, its like looking at the natural area of Jacksonville before people started building concrete things above it.From the website, it seems as though this would cater to kids but it is perfect for adults interested in wildlife and sustainability (their facility is very efficient in using energy).1. Trails: not too long or short. You get to see birds and insects and a variety of trees and walk along different elevations (unpaved specifically)2. Seeing goats were a nice treat. Theyre a bit overweight so I feel like visitors really like feeding them3. The facility itself was nice seeing different turtles, snakes...

Lovely place to spend a couple of hours in real Florida right in the Arlington neighborhood of Jacksonville. My 7 year old and I hiked most of the six marked trails, pet and fed the goats and chickens (who have great habitats and are very social), and explored the museum twice in a bit more than 3 hours. They unfortunately sustained some damage in Hurricane Irmas high winds and have a number of downed trees in the swamp area and have (as of 2/2018) closed two of the three boardwalks (both the ones leading to open water) due to damage sustained. The amphitheater near the East entrance is super cute and the community garden seems happy and productive. There is also a small hedge labyrinth in this area (off Stable Loop/Purple trail) coming from the West Entrance for the kids to run through. When the weather warms up the Butterfly Garden near the Main Office will reopen. There are many animals throughout the space, living, fossilized, and taxidermied (including a barred owl and gopher tortoise!) and interestingly it has a spring cooled HVAC and solar power for the main building. Overall we enjoyed our time and will certainly be back for the trails and critters. The museum could do with an update and hopefully they will get the needed funding soon. The concept and grounds are wonderful. Family memberships are only $40 per year and you can book the facility and staff for groups and parties including Animal Encounters. This is a great family and nature space close to downtown Jax! It only took me 12 minutes from SPR.

An owl, hens, roosters, goats, turtles, an alligator and more animals await your visit. It isnt a zoo so dont expect lots of animals. Essentially it is a great little museum with some live animals, displays, and hands-on materials along with some outdoor animals, lovely trails, an amphitheater, and plentiful nature. The Nature Center takes both cash and cards, though it doesnt say so on their site I think others would find that useful.

Tree hill has been around forever they are a beautiful nature preserve trail in the middle of Arlington offering a beautiful little escape from the hustle & bustle of everyday Jax... I havent been in a long time but went this past weekend with my mom & little sister... Had enough time before closing to hike all of the trails & i love it... Forewarning watch overhead for large spiders if youre tall not sure what kind they were but they were huge & colorful... I love seeing all the butterflies around the main building it was marvelous nature is overgrown & taking over its very much a beautiful site for nature lovers! Theres even a hidden lawn mower (i think it was) being taken over by vines... I guess it broke down or something but it really neat kind of like a see what can happen if we let nature do its thing type of showcase... Not sure if it was intentional or not but it was still pretty cool... I cant wait to go back & they are very cheap on entrance fees like $4 per adult i think which is amazing.... Its not huge but its quaint & peaceful! I hope they are around for many years to come!
