I really like this place and I really wish I could finish. But they close all entrance except the Spanish pond one. So many scary bugs are visiting and following no matter how much and how many times you do the bug spray:( Too natural.

Nice hike. The viewpoint by the marsh was pretty. Our dog got +4 ticks from this hike though, fortunately saw them crawling on her fur and removed them asap.

One of the most diverse tasks in jax! Lots of species of trees and plant life, diverse ecology, beautiful and clean trails that can be a little challenging!

December 31st 2018- 11:00-12:30This park is off the main road in a quiet and secluded location. Parking could be an issue as their was only one parking lot for about 20 vehicles or so. If you come during a government shutdown be sure to use the bathrooms before you arrive as the facilities are not kept open but access to the park remains open. Their are multiple trails with the longest being about 3 miles in length total. The trails are well maintained consisting of hard packed dirt with some areas of loose dirt. I don’t know what the elevation drop is but on the way back it is a noticeable incline. Hikers should be weary that the return trip will be tougher than the outgoing trip. The weather could be a deterrent during the summer or days that are unusually hot. Although most of the trail is covered in canopy and sunlight fails to reach the ground in most places the humidity still remained elevated. Recommend this place for those without mobility issues as the loose dirt, numerous tree roots, the heat, and the incline on the return could pose an issue.Amenities: no bathroom access during the government shut down. There was also no water fountain or gift shop in the area. Recommend you bring your own food and plenty of water. Along the trails there are benches every quarter mile or so and plenty of signs to read. The big attraction is the Willie Browne cabin where only the foundations remain to this day.

This is one of our favorite places to go hike... Its very near our house.... Its beyond spectacular and if you live in the city and havent been here.. then youve got to look it up and go enjoy the magnificent natural round marsh, high bluffs, soaring huge moss covered pine trees, wildlife and beautiful birds.. It has 5 fantastic miles of trails and overflows with old Florida charm overflowing

Free to park & walk. Bathrooms located at this trailhead, not the Spanish one. There is a hose and functioning faucet behind the bathroom... your call whether it is drinkable or not. Both trailheads are practically equal distance to the overlook - which looks out over a salt marsh. Trail to overlook & back: 2 miles +-. If you want to keep going, walk to Spanish trailhead & back, making it about 3 or 4 miles. Note that the overlook is a pseudo destination: the real point of coming is the pretty walk through the woods. There is a gate at this trailhead, not the Spanish one, so Id theres a chance youll depart late I would suggest parking another 1/2 mile +- up the street (across from Fort Caroline).

Always a relief to come here. They do a pretty good job of keeping the trails clear of debris, too - even after a hurricane!

My dog and I thoroughly enjoyed our stroll through the Timucuan Preserve. Such a beautiful, serene locale, especially the observation tower located adjacent the salt marsh. The only downside to our visit was the fact that the public restrooms located at the entrance to the Theodore Roosevelt side of the preserve were both locked up, but Im guessing this may have had something to do with the current government shut down and reduction in staffing. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful time in Mr. Willie s legacy to future generations, the cracker Piney, marsh woods of North East Florida. The great hiking trail which borders the salt marsh is a special treat to be enjoyed by every visitor, if you re up for a little exercise !

Nice easy trails to hike with the family or the fur babies. Trails are well-marked and simple to follow. There are some gentle slopes in some parts. The area is full of history from the Timucuan Natives, to early settlers and their cemeteries.

A GREAT place to hike, with reserved paths for biking. I loved the variation of the terrain - its mixed with tons of tree roots, clam shells, sand and inclines up to the highest points -looking out over the marsh. Which makes for a low-to-mid moderate hike...appropriate for families and dogs but be prepared for narrowing paths. It was a partly cloudy day, I must return when the sun is out for better pictures

A hidden jem located in town. the trail started out with loose sand that changed into crushed clamshell then compacted earth. i would not have imagined that there would be as much elevation change where this park is located, ot was a change that i was not expecting. The green trail is where all the large elevation change was, it also had great views of the tidel waters, a great elevated platform to see above all the large grasses. there are benches to rest located throughout all of the trails.

This is our go to spot for weekend time with the family - beautiful trails with a handful of options that includes 3 different landscapes all in one park. Make sure to check out the lookout point at the end of the black trail that over looks the preserve and marsh.
