Such a treat to find this museum, and in Mississippi of all places! Right now they are in the process of slowly moving to a new location. You can see an exhibit on manuscripts from Timbuktu that date back to the middle ages at one of the MS Museum of art complex buildings. The new location on Capitol Street is where the introductory exhibits are located. Both spaces are only a few short blocks from each other.
Excellent docents, well researched interpretation and attractive displays. A great museum to visit to learn history that isnt taught in school!
Enjoyed the visuals and cultural displays. When we went Moorish Spain and Timbuktu were highlighted. Great experience to learn history of Islamic contributions to the world and how cultures live together in peace.
Very educational museum with exhibits on Islamic Moorish Spain, on Timbuktu, Mali (Africa), and a new exhibit on coexistance and the similarities with Christianity and Judaism... An amazing museum to visit!
Excellent museum and a great place to learn about Islamic culture
I’ve never been to that state, but the fact that Jackson even has this museum speaks volumes about how forward looking this community must be. Kudos
Not much to say about this one. Its a neat small museum about a culture not looked at often enough.
We learned a lot.
I found this to be an interesting afternoon visit. it is nice to see an effort is made to explain their history and the importance of their faith to them and how it has affected our lives here.
Friendly staff. Very educational. Glad that I visited.
Great events, great people and a worthwhile endeavor! Kudos to the people who are invested in bridging the information and awareness gap in this most misunderstood of Faiths! Thank you!
My friend and I visited during normal business hours, and no one was in the business office for us to be admitted.
Fascinating museum, I wish more people understood this side of history.
