You will be walking upwards the whole 3 miles, meaning then you have to walk down. If your knees arent good this isnt a small hike for you. Dont go during the weekends if you dont want to have hundreds of people also being there. Theres small parking but other then that the view at the top is worth the the breath taking price. It was a nice experience.
This used to be one of my favorite trails for a quick hike on a Saturday or Sunday morning. There are about 40 parking spaces and hiking at a good clip, you can be up, enjoy 10-15 minutes at the top and be back down in about 2 1/2 hours. Unfortunately, though, the secret is out and it is now overcrowded with large groups and novice hikers not wearing masks when passing (this is especially important for the uphill hiker). The trail is mostly narrow with only a handful of sections where social distancing is possible. We arrived at 8 am on a Saturday morning, and the parking was already full. There is an overflow lot for $5 (you must have cash or check) and then you walk along the busy road until you can cross over to the trailhead. If the trail was not crowded, my review would be four stars. On a clear day with perfect conditions, you can watch the paragliders prep for their gliding and then take off.
I really enjoy this hike! It is a 3/5 difficulty. I recommend being in decent shape. To see the views of Issaquah takes about 1 hour to scale! But as you can see from pictures posted the views are absolutely worth the hike! Parking lot is very difficult to find a spot. There is a extra lot towards old town Issaquah. Its $5 to park. I would consider it! Definitely recommend this as a great weekend hike!!
1. I went up the chirico trail to poo poo point.2. Parking was limited at 8.30 am on Saturday3. It was a steep incline over a short distance but was well kept.4. My map showed me 4 miles trip with 1640 ft elevation and 2.25 hrs moving time5. Mostly covered with trees except at the top6. Was foggy all the way so could not see anything
It’s steep, and slippery as an avocado when wet. But it’s worth it! The trail is narrow and does not allow social distancing; please wear a mask.
I prefer Pee Pee Creek, but its all the way over in Ohio.
Worth the climb. Difficulty is moderate to hard. Views are pretty. Bring a mat to sit and relax. Parking is hard to find.
Great hike! It covers fair bit of elevation in a short distance. It does get busy as it’s closer to the city, so I would suggest getting there early. Limited parking so be prepared for it. It does not need a parking pass in case you do find a spot. They also have a paragliding spot at the top.
Great experience, it was absolutely breathtaking. It changed my perspective on life.
Super fun trail. Ive been twice and its was busy both times. Great excercise, steep incline for 50-60% of trail. There is a beautiful view of Mt Rainer close to the top. The top offers paragliding if youre game. They offer tandem jumps for a fee.
Trail is clean and provides a good challenge without being too strenuous. Made it up in about an hour without rushing too much. The view is incredible and loved watching the paragliders take off! This is one of my go to favorite trails.
An awesome neighborhood hike to explore. This is indeed having a good elevation gain. A gain of 1600ft in just 1.6 miles. An awesome view from summit.
I hike Poo Poo point on a weekly basis. Its a great workout with pleasant views that change with the seasons. I recommend coming early or late; its a very busy trailhead with limited parking.
Popular trail, too crowded on the weekends. Nice view from the top.
WOOOOOO YEAAAAAHH!!!! LETS GOOO YEAAAAAAH THIS IS AWESOME WOOOOOO!!!!!
If you’re a beginner, this is not an easy hike, though it’s very rewarding as you can catch the paragliders once at the top.Make sure to have a lot of water and a light snack that you can enjoy once at the peak. Also if you need take some breaks on the way up. It took us about 1.5hrs to go up and 40min to go down. The parking lot is small but there is a private lot across the street for 5$, so bring your cash.
Very steep and Rocky, make sure you take your time. Once you get to the top you may be lucky enough to see someone jump off the mountain. Mind blowing views and a very unique set up with the turf runways to jump off the mountain.
A beautiful snowy hike. The paths are cleared and decent for normal hiking weather gear. Getting cleats for your boots during this climate would be advised for safety, but not required. Early morning hiking on this trail on a clear day is beautiful. Hiking after the snow melts is also an amazing experience due to all the water falling. I love this hike all year round.
Very nice hiking. Trail is good. Some places very steep but all safe. Enjoyed the top point view.
A nice pace and spectacular view at the end!
Beatiful hike, good for all ages. It is heavy trafficked, youll see parents hiking with their babies, seniors, people jogging their way up. Its a long and steep hike for a beginner but its a great place to start. At the top around noon youll get a chance to see the paragliders take off
We really enjoyed our hike today at the Poo Poo Point Trailhead. It starts out rocky and steep, then goes to a smoother steep incline, finally concluding with a flatter section. The grand finale was a beautiful view of the lake, city and entire valley. The area is used to launch hang gliders, so you can imagine the verdant, lush scenery. Plus, other hikers are friendly and engaging. It’s a good place to bring your dog as well!
Its definitely a hike thatll take someone that wants to do it but its fun to the view is amazing its dog friendly kids that can hike and parking if parking spoilers $5 parking across the street definitely fun.
Great after work hike - I love watching the paragliders on nice days. Theres a view of Rainier off one side and Issaquah, lake sammish, and Bellevue off the other.
Great hike! We recently hiked Poo Poo Point on an early Saturday morning and really enjoyed it! We had heard from multiple people the parking lot filled up quickly so we arrived early, about 6:30 am and, surprisingly, we still only got one of a couple parking spots remaining at that hour. The hike itself is good. The terrain is fairly steep and rocky but the trail has been built with the assistance of the rocks, with many spots having stairs built out of rocks. It took us about 2 hours, at a leisurely pace, to get ro the very top where we enjoyed a light snack and spectacular views of Issaquah and the north of the state.I only rate it 4 stars for two reasons... 1) Its stupid busy with other hikers, which can make navigating the trail a little difficult (but unlike some other local trails, hikers here did seem to have better trail etiquette) and 2) more importantly, there appears to be no shortage of irresponsible dog owners. We saw dog feces on the trail in many locations and, more than anything, people just left their bags of dogs#$! on the trail! Walk along and theres a bag, heres a bag, its really rather sad. I have nothing against dogs but the idiotic owners who do these things ruin the experience for everyone else.
Great hike for the above average distance and duration. Theres more than one way to get to the top so do your homework first on where to park and the path you want to take. There are options for long and gradual or short and steep. Both are great. And its PNW so the likelihood for a little wetness and a slippery rock or two is high.
Parking is very limited. Strenuous. Took us 3 hours (including resting at the top) round trip. Cool paragliding. I want to try next time. Our dogs enjoyed the hike.
It was good hike on a sunny day. Would be an intermediary hike
Great views and fun seeing people paragliding from the top. On a clear day Mt Rainier would be visible. Takes 45 min to go up with very few breaks and about 30 min to come down. The path gets steep in some places.
Great experience! Go up there before sunset if you want to see the most spectacular view be sure to wear the boots fixating ankles
I went by the chirico trailhead. Its a decent hike/exercise. I wasnt expecting the elevation gain to be that steep
Excellent trail, this was honestly so much fun!! Besides having gorgeous views, the pathways are easy to access really great for either an all day trip or just a quick run. I absolutely loved running about and they even have a couple cool benches randomly placed.
One of my favorite trails. Good climb and at times a great view.
A great hike - challenging but manageable for most people
Excellent little 7ish mile hike. Good elevation climb with a view and a show at the top. The show being the paragliders and the occasional hang glider. Good hike to start the season!
Great steep, short trail popular with beginners and families, locals and enthusiasts training for fitness.
This trail is on my commute route, so I use it as my weekly after-work activity. The parking lot needs some pavement repair because currently you get into deep potholes right after rushing through a rare break in oncoming traffic. The trail itself is a great short hike, but dont expect co-hikers to follow hiking etiquette you can expect on harder and not so popular trails.
This trail is great for hiking and seeing paragliders launch and fly.
Beautiful day at Poo Poo Point! Lots of paragliders and hikers. Everyone was friendly and shared the trail.
Great trail with a lovely view of Ranier on a clear day and also a great view of Issaquah where the paragliders take off. Does get really busy on the weekends and after work on weekdays in the summer so plan accordingly (there are shuttles).
Best hiking place and paragliding spot
Close to downtown Issaquah, nice hike enough effort around 10K steps. Car park is small and crowded, option to have a close paid parking.
Gorgeous view from the top!
Great trail for moderate and tough trail entusiasts
Awesome trial. Especially on top it was completely covered with snow in mid Feb.
Great trail for all levels and awesome views on clear days.
Nice hike near the city. There is limited parking near the chirico trail head but there are private parking spots across the street with a fee. It is very crowded during weekends, hence there are a lot of people going up and down on the small trail path. The entire hike round trip is around 4 miles. At around 1.6 miles there is a view point and after around quarter mile hike to the poo poo point is where a lot of paragliders take off on a good day. Overall a decent hike!
It’s about an hour hike up to the top. There are plenty of benches but the incline doesn’t let up. Be sure to bring some water and a camera.
Love this trail, will hike it again and again. Traverse steps and switchbacks for about a mile, then a gentle incline for a few more miles up with still decently challenging terrain. Theres a view of the mountains waiting for you that cant be topped by any other trail in the area. If youre into photography or an adrenaline junkie, youll love the fact that theres a hang gliding company firmly embedded into the side of the mountain, and on nice days, you can catch hang gliders jumping off the side of the mountain to elegantly soar the updrafts and gently land in the emerald field where your hike began.
Hard work to climb but well worth the reward
Easy trail for beginners, though the views are beautiful
It was a long walk and when we got to the top, there was poo everywhere
Icy floors but view was great
Lovely trail and awesome views. Entire trail is around 7 miles so perfect cardio workout for any day
Bright Sunny Day - You can see the majestic Mt. Rainier
The trick to this trail is to park at the High School. The grade isn’t terrible but be careful of exposed branches where boots can get stuck. Once on top you might find the hilltop overcrowded with other hikers but it is pleasant to watch the gliders as they leave the hilltop.
Nice short hike. Good views at the top.
Great uphill hike, beautiful scenery, but parking is scarce.
Love Poo poo Point! Nice hike, a little steep. Fun to watch the air gliders fly off!
Great hike, but the poo smell is insufficient
It was a fantastic trail. Best time is to come early in the morning as parking very limited. There is a paid parking(big lot) opposite to the Paragliders office entrance, $5 cash only.As for the trail, its moderate difficulty and not flat at all. Its a gradual constant incline and has an elevation of 1800 feet. If you are first time hiker, probably not the right one for you.The trail is completely shaded by tall trees, which makes it a great hike even on a sunny day.Once you reach the open area from where you get to see Mt. Rainier, dont stop there. The trail continues further to the point where paragliders jump off the edge! And thats a treat after a good hike!Trail gets very crowded after 10 am and then your speed reduces if you are stuck behind a slow group. The 6.8 mile hike takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to reach the top(i.e. if you dont stop for photography) and descent another 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending upon the crowd. Hiking poles are recommended and food pair of hiking shoes.
Beautiful medium length trail. Worth it!
Very good hike. We enjoyed very much. Great 180 degrees view of Issaquah, Sammamish Lake.
Fast incline. Great view!
Very beautiful place to hike and to see the paragliding take off. The hike is kind of steep but I’ve seen dogs and children. It took us two and a half hours. Worth it!
This is a good entry level hike if you are new to hiking . I also use this as start of the season . Parking is an issue since there are very limited parking on this venue . I would recommend going early or carry a $5 bill since there is a paid parking as well .
I’ve been here a couple times. The hike to the top is grueling, especially if you aren’t keeping up on your fitness over the winter. The view is really impressive, but relative to many, many other trails further out it’s really only OK. Only giving three stars because of the effort/reward on this one. Best part about this spot for me, beside the view is it’s proximity to Seattle and watching the hang gliders float around. If you time it right or get lucky you can see them come in for a landing by the parking lot.
Love it helped my knee
Gorgeous views. Yes, it can get crowded and the Parking lot definitely needs to be bigger but the hike was a great workout. Most of it is shaded until you reach the top and then there is breathtaking scenery to see. Don’t stop and think you are done when you get to the the first open area, keep heading up the narrow path through the trees and you will come out on the other side of the mountain and have a marvelous view of Issaquah, Lake Sammamish and rolling hills.
Small parking lot, so pray that you can get a spot or just park on the side of the road or theres a few places nearby that parking will cost you a few bills. The hike itself was a pretty steep incline; at times, it like you were on a StairMaster, just walking up flights of stairs with no end in sight. Once youre at the top, you have a beautiful view of Mount Rainier; however, dont just stop there. If you hike an additional 10 minutes behind, youll get to see Like Tradition. Also, you have the option to take a shuttle back down or if youre feeling really brave, theres a paraglide shop thatll take you all the way back down to the parking lot.
It is a good place to sit and relax and for gliders it is one of the best location!!! Small hike
Spectacular view of My Rainier just before the end of the Chiroco trail. Sometimes there are paragliders offering $5 rides back to the trailhead!
Solid slog uphill for a fine view
Me and my friends, after having a brilliant day at Extractor Fan World, have decided that our next destination is the wonderful Poo Poo Point Trailhead. We have once again, given this destination 5 out of 5 stars due to the sheer views that Poo Poo gives. Ben has quoted I thoroughly enjoyed walking along Poo Poo Point, it really lifted my spirits
Lovely view with wild flowers.
I enjoyed the hike here! The weather was amazing so i was able to clearly see the rainier mountain! Lucky me :)
About an hour up and hour back down, overall pretty easy hike, love this trail
Medium to Hard hike. Kids friendly. Parking is very hard, paid parking over by the paragliding place for $5 is ur best best.
Good hike, a bit tough if you arent used to hiking. There are two spots at the top where the wind surfers take off from. Pretty cool to get up there and look out to see 10-12 parachutes gliding around the area.Parking is a premium and with most trail heads, there isnt enough. Locals have turned it into a business and open their land to people for a small fee.
Second time to Poo Poo Point. A sunny day and got to see the majestic Mt Rainier. The only complaint is limited parking space and relatively heavy traffic on a good weekend.
Beautiful hike! Went mid-March
A short yet challenging trip about 1500 feet of elevation. At a good pace it will take about an hour to get to the top. Make sure you get there early as the parking lot fills up quickly. I believe there is a shuttle service that runs during the summer months.
Great hike, great views!
Solid hike. I always forget how much tougher this hike is than it seems. Its short. But intense. Real nice. Check it out.
Parking fills up fast. Get there early. There is a private lot down the road that offers parking for $5. Tough climb to poo poo point. Bring good shoes and water.
The trail is very beautiful, i used to not like the color of brown but now it is beautiful.
Excellent trail that is a short drive from downtown Issaquah. Parking can be a bit tricky so you may have to part on the side of the road and walk a bit.The trails are well cared for and the vistas from top are worth the hike. Also, if you are interested in paragliding, you can take off from 2 different locations at the top.Twice I have hiked up and once up found a paragliding instructor who was looking to take someone down (by wind - and for a few) and both Times were awesome.
Good place for hiking and paragliding
A consistent uphill hike without being too strenuous. Even on a cloudy day, the views from the top are a worthwhile payoff.
A great hike and a great exercise while being close to the city
Actually I started at the Issaquah High school which seems to add more of a challenge to the trail. Alot of rocks and exposed roots. 80 to 90% uphill. But it is mostly under the cover of trees. So a great trail for summer hot day hiking Starting out is semi flat and the end of the trail close to the point is mostly flat. Which is a nice reprieve because the grade is steep. Im not in as good as shape as I used to be a few years ago. Yet I still made it up in a few minutes over an hour and down in a little less than an hour. Thats with me being semi sore going down. Oh and ###be careful on the bridge. There is a section of the side rail missing that is hiden by a tree growing through it.### Have fun!
Good climb..
Not an easy hike. 2 hours up at a moderate pace. 1 hour down. Very rocky and uneven pathways that is narrow as well. A great workout. Bring lots of water.
I love this trail! Theres so many different smaller trails around the High School trail that are great for families and dogs. Please respect trail etiquette and yield to those coming down if the path is narrow. Pack in and pack out - dont litter and dont leave your dogs poop.
We turned back before the lookout. Icy and very slippery, especially going down. Healthy, but dont want injuries.
