While it’s nice to have a Ymca closer to home with a pool, I just wish it had the lateral elliptical and sauna. It’s a nice facility. As with all openings it was pretty hectic. The track is a bit overwhelming when you’re trying to get to equipment. Pretty much have to walk the track to find equipment. Zumba was very fun this week!
Very clean, modern facility. Great staff. Friendly, knowledgeable and professional.
Nice. Clean. GymFamily friendly
We head a extremely great time hear with me and my son William i got upon the walking treadmill and after that I joined William in basketball all thought mom seat on the bleachers and thats how i played with my handsome lil guy.
I was there for a knee injection from the Veterans health clinic only and that was satisfactory.
This is a great Y everything is new. It has a good pool and exceptional play and learn.
Safe and has a great staff and gym.
This was my best visit in 3 years. Dr. Solito is by far the best doctor at the VA. She is so personable and thorough. She is really concerned and very relatable. Thanks for the best care Ive received by far.
Came over this past Saturday to apply for a membership. I had previously had a tour and was impressed with the new facility. The person at the desk was not helpful and was silent as he processed my membership. He started having computer issues and a line began to form. I had to tell him to go ahead and take the people behind me, who were just there trying to get a guest pass. He ended up telling me he couldnt help me, that there was no manager on duty and no one else was answering their phone. I asked if I should come back Sunday and he said he couldnt guarantee someone could help me then either. He asked me to come on Monday during work hours which I cant do. I ended up leaving with no membership. Called later that afternoon and was told there was still no manager on duty. I ended up applying for membership at the Fort Ben location by my job. They were much nicer and super helpful!
Its starting to get crowded again. But I love the indoor track
Great place to workout and swim...I love it
Good well-trained staff. Easy parking..
My granddaughter goes to summer camp at the YMCA summer camp. The staff are nice. Due to the corona virus recreational things were limited to spending most of the time outdoor. With that being said the temperatures were pretty hot in the 90s most days and Instead of swimming indoors a lot they were sprayed with a water hose. My granddaughter would complain that the water hose nozzle was sprayed so hard that it hurted and she didnt want to be sprayed anymore. Now you would think the YMCA would have a better way of incorporating water sports since the kids spent 80% of their days outdoors. It was almost torture. She has excema and the heat made it awful for her not to mention sunburned. A little girl their would write on her clothes and be mean to her. One day I picked her up and once she got in the car and I was about to pull off and she showed me a large hecky on her head. The same little girl that was pushing her had pushed her down in the gym. I immediately stopped the car on the lot and asked the staff about it. I was then informed of the incident form they filled out when the accident happened. I asked why wasnt I called or even informed when I got there to pick her up. They said they forgot to tell me. Although the many things I mentioned my granddaughter still liked the camp and enjoyed the many crafts that she participated in.
The YMCA is a perfect place for me to go work out at its good friends plus my mom works there and is it is a good place to meet friends workout Buddies the basketball is cool they hold pickleball there too
I live in Avon, but this ymca, is more cleaner
Always a pleasant atmosphere.
The place is really nice. they’ve got modern things and pretty easy-to-use materials. My only complain is the one time i have gone there they were slightly racist to my black father and i. And i wish they were open longer sometimes but other than that they seem to be a pretty good place. Would recommend. •u•
I had no idea this place was here...its also a part of the VA,thats where I was.
Outstanding!! Dr. Solito and staff were so courteous and helpful to my needs. Cant say enough but THANK YOU!!
This place would be perfect if it had a sauna. I think they should have locks like downtown. Been here twice already. But I feel like my workout is incomplete if I don’t spend my 15 mins in a sauna .
Clean, neat and sanitized
Great VA team at the Orthoindy YMCA
They seem to be taking all the proper precautions in cleaning and social distancing. Glad they are open again!!
It only took me one time to be there and never again, the staff are not friendly at all and one of their staff member told me I wasn’t dressed appropriate, that they don’t allow people to workout in just sport bra, when I had a cropped shirt and a bra under my shirt. However, I complained with the manager about the staff not being able to tell the difference between a sport bra and a shirt. I went back to ransburg Ymca and they are the best
Nice and clean facility. A walking track, a big swimming pool, a big basketball court, exercise machine and exercise classes are on second floor and the locker rooms are nice and clean. I see daily couple with kids in the pool or using machine, seniors are walking on track. Good for one health as well as some things for family involvement. Small veteran office and computer room and community room for meeting or cooking classes as well as a chapelGreat place for every one
Okay the new facility is nice but I’m not happy with my overall experience. This is not our usual ymca and we’ve been going to the ymca for a decade now. Never really had problems anywhere. But wow. This was our last time here. I don’t know if they have different rules here because of it being in the hood or just nit picky and racist. The director lady was giving us a hard time about every little thing and the way she did it was very condescending. We just couldn’t work out anymore. We left in the middle of our workouts. My daughter was upset, my husband was upset and so was I. We just ended up leaving and went to OUR ymca. This is supposed to be a pleasant and enjoyable experience for my family and I and it wasn’t at all. Also, the play area is right by the front door. The worker even opened the door for us before we scanned in. I am concerned about the safety.
As I look at the comments it is so many complaining people y’all act like theres no other ymca in town. They are very affordable based off your income have never been to this one but was looking to try west side one ! At the end of the day it’s your job to get fit !
It’s a good place for your kid to go and to workout and play basketball, haveing a good swim
Not very impressed with the staff (Sarah) She wasnt aware of the various time zones as we tried to transfer our memberships. My wife had to call the office in question to get the ball rolling. It was an auspicious start at best while going to a new facility. Reading comprehension matters.
Professional, helpful, and friendly staff. Facility is well maintained and clean. Only reason I am giving it four stars is because of the patrons that use the facility. They need to learn gym etiquette such racking weight, cleaning up after themselves such as cleaning equipment after use, taking their towels with them, staying off equipment unless using it for its proper use. I believe this could be fixed by staff getting onto their patrons to follow the rules as posted.
Something is better than nothing. OrthoIndy is a blessing. Lets be thankful we have the facility. Am I satisfied? Would you be? Take inventory of the disappointments and make your own decision. Ive made mine. On a scale from 1 to 10, 3. Nonetheless we have a facility, take advantage of it. Keep the faith. God bless America, because she needs it. LOL.
If you have kids and want to take them swimming after work or school, dont count on it. The staff literally waited until we walked into the water, our babies were drenched, then told us we had to get out. Theres no open swim until 8pm when kids go to bed. We already are paying for the membership and arent paying for a swim class for babies under one. Which we have. The class was fun, but had we known it wouldnt be much different than what we do in the bathtub we probably would have saved our money. Saving our money and cancelled the membership.
Was very excited to get a membership here but am now disappointed. The space is too small for all of the members, the open gym is always booked making it frustrating to play ball, and the staff is not very knowledgeable. I went to a wellness consultation thinking that it was with a personal trainer and was shocked when it was an average guy who had no idea about fitness teaching me about working out, while the real personal trainer sat on his laptop and didnt offer any suggestions. The classes are scheduled for those who work nights or dont work at all. Where are the free nutrition classes, free initial personal training session with them trying to sell me when we are done, where are the healthy cooking demonstrations. As much as I want to get fit, this place is overpriced and not for those starting off and trying to make a move into the healthier direction. It is rather disappointing.
Awsome environment, brand new everything, sleek design, no sauna though???
I have been there a couple times. Staff are the slowest. I have waited over 10 mins just to check in, and when I said something to the employees they just complain about me be impatient. Will not go back. Please check out there other locations they are alll better than this one!
Really nice new y facility. Its a little busy during lunch on a weekday, but great facilities and friendly staff.
Too crowded, not enough free weights or machines, child watch is always on waitlist, and when you finally find a place to workout you will be told to move for small group fitness. I have been a member of the pike YMCA for years and now I HATE going to the new facility. Its just not big enough for all the new members so now those of us who were loyal members cannot workout here. I see the personal at the desk talking about members constantly. I was so excited for this new facility and now would much rather prefer the atmosphere at the old one. On top of all that, they raised the rates, so now were paying more to not have a place to workout.
Really nice, new, and clean facility. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the pool hours. They vary wildly and the pool is not always open during the posted hours. It can be frustrating to drive here for a swim, only to find out the pool is closed even though posted hours say it should be open.
I usually only use this place for the pool, which is nice. However, about half of every time I drive down to this Y, its closed without notice online or anything. This is frustrating because I drive 25 minutes to use it.On top of that, when it is open the lifeguards are usually apathetic to any horseplay thats going on. I just go to swim laps, and there is a pretty nice kids section apart of the same pool-no problem. But on multiple occasions kids will play around or crowd the lanes and the lifeguards just let it happen. Good job guys! Id recommend staying away from this Y if you swim, its all unprofessional here.
Friendly environment where the entire family can work out together. The staff doesnt harass the kids when working out!
Almost bought a yearly pass, but so glad we didnt. Have had a few less-than-stellar experiences. Some staff are friendly, others have been unhelpful. Perhaps things will improve over time as the facility is brand new. The locker rooms are FREEZING cold, as is the pool area. Cold air is blowing over the pool while you are trying to swim, making for an unpleasant experience.
Nice place
Wish there was more machines, you have to walk around and hope you find a machine for a while
Like many of the other reviews, this place is small but mighty! they offer quite a variety of classes and because they are smaller, there is usually always a workout machine open. The culture is very welcoming and friendly and there are people from all stages of life who go there. Overall a great place!
This facility was a serious let-down for me. I live 3 minutes away but prefer to drive 25+ minutes to Avon YMCA. The wellness center is tiny. 2 squat racks that double as deadlift platforms, 1 bench press and 4 benches for free weights. Lacking a lot of equipment and the equipment that is available, is cheap. Oh! And don’t you dare set your deadlift down too hard on the platform created specifically for that purpose or you’ll be told you are creating a distraction but the contractors installing the basketball court can throw down piles of wood, bang, hammer, use saws and drills that are so loud you can’t hear yourself think.
The new facility has new equipment and a special area for individual and group personal training. There is a pool, basketball court, and kids area with an indoor playground.
Wish is was bigger. It can get pretty crowded making it impossible to workout on equipment. Other then that..place nice and clean.
Beautiful new facility including a indoor pool, jogging track, a variety of exercise equipment, free weights and basketball courts.
I thought the change of location would be good. But whoever shannon is that works on that front desk. Is clearly rude and unapproachable. I had more than one question to ask and she cut me off and turn her back. Im guessing to signal that she was done answering questions. That interaction alone made me not want to visit this location. Not even including the other two chicks didnt even acknowledge I was standing at the counter. Horrible customer service.
Close to home. Has VA office here
It looks like a nice facility, but the rates they charge at all area YMCA facilities are flat ridiculous.
Clean facility
Body Attack on Saturdays with Antwoine Haywood is an amazing class! He really knows how to get the best out of you.
This is the new veteran and ortho indy combined neighborhood ymca location. Beautiful building. Free tours are available. Has family plans. Discounts for Veterans and . Go check this new YMCA out. There is possibly a talk to have out pool. Currently indoors. Fun for all
I know i never been there so i hope i have fun and so rhe other people who go there goodluck
Its dumb not to have a membership person there at night. So somebody can sign up
The hype is real in this place! Workers always greet me when I walk in and the tv is always on some poppin channel. The carpet really compliments the spherical light fixtures. This place must actually work, there have been quite a few buff people going in and out of it.
Go during the workday to avoid unsupervised kids in the pool, on the track and in the cardio and weight areas. Take your bad kids into spin class!
POOL always has a private class going on so you can’t swim with your kids until 8PM. My kids bedtime is 8.
Its a quiet and peaceful place to work out. The staff was nice and friendly when I first time showed up there. Please be aware that this YMCA location doesnt have a swimming pool.
Very nice, new, top of the line facility!
Offers a lot for a relatively small facility. I get worked out well each week through the many choice classes. Thank you Y!
Looks very nice
Great classes and trainers!
