Very limited parking, but you can pay to park across the street by the fire station. Lovely place to walk and enjoy the outside.
I have been coming to this location for over 2 decades. from running in college to high school and also just running in general. this place is a wonderful place to enjoy a few miles of relaxation, walking, some hiking, mostly running the trails. The trails are flat and with many wonderful fellow runner along the way The beach trails have always been clean. Well kept. People who come always seem to fall in love with this place. The PCH parking area gets busy on the weekends; the best place to park would be on the Warner entrance. The trails here commence and can lead for up to 4 to 5 miles.
I love the little museum displays. A great place to walk.
Beautiful natural preserve, good hiking area and a designated fishing area near the bridge off of Warner. Good bird watching and wonderful photographic opportunity.
A great place to visit with yer yungins.
Not sure if there are particularly interesting wildlife here. No biking on any trails, which is a real bummer
Awesome place. You should check this place out.
Such a beautiful little wetlands area. So easy to stop for a short walk with kids or a planned long walk too. Good for the soul. Lovely nature place in such easy access. We loved the nature center too. Lots of animal taxidermy to see and a live touch tank too. Really fun for a family day, short visit, or adult time. Whatever your plan, it fits.
Its a cool place. Great wildlife. We saw an otter. You gotta check it out.
Ive lived in Orange County all my life, but had never been to the Bolsa Chica Wetlands until yesterday. Beautiful nature reserve.
There are walking trails with abundant bird & wildlife to be seen. The kids really liked it
Great place to take a hike, see wildlife in their protected ecosystems. Wonderful project and investment of time and energy.
Beautiful peaceful and great place for a hoke
We took a guided tour that they hold on some Saturdays and it was wonderful. Great for kids and our docent was super nice, knowledgeable and you could tell she was there because she loves it. Luckily right after they had an animal feeding and we were able to see a snake and aquarium animals feed. All the volunteers there were very welcoming and loved what they did.
Great trails, hung out with a couple of coyotes
Love going for hikes there! Bunch of fresh air and most of the time but too crowded
Well maintained walking paths and lots if wildlife
Awesome beautiful trail. Parking can be a little challenging but there is a pay lot across the street.
Great exercise and beautiful views
The boardwalk the beach its good for the soul

Beautiful location for a walk, picture taking and just watching nature at its best!
We have been going to Bolds Chica for YEARS and it is still as awesome as the first time we went!My kids have gone there for their elementary school field trips and we have gone as a family at all times of the year and day.It is so much fun to take a walk early in the morning and watch the wildlife waking up.It is also a great place to go at duck and watch the birds coming in to roost. There is also a cute little nature center at the Warner Ave entrance and port o potty there. Also across the street is a Subway and a Super Mex for lunch.Enjoy!
A beautiful place for a walk or hike, with abundant wildlife
I love this place. Been coming here over 25 years. Great place to take the kids hiking and teach them how to catch and release fish.
Nice hike
Bolsa Chica is beautiful for trail walking or running. There are more than a few ways to customize your trail so you can walk as far as youd like. It sits right along the Bolsa Chica state beach which has an open bike and walking lane to walk as well. Nice coastal breeze and plenty of trees makes it great for bird watching. Staff at the conservancy are friendly and informative.
Always a nice walk with great scenery!
Interesting place to visit
A nice easy hike along the wetlands.
The wetlands are beautiful! I am so thankful that this area is being protected. There are so many flowers and birds to enjoy seeing as you walk along the dirt paths. Theres also benches if to want to stop to rest or enjoy the environment.
Beautiful wide open place of nature, free to the public, exotic wild life, nature trails...They are in need of more volunteer participation from the public to help keep up with the preservation...
The wetlands are a spiritual relaxing experience. Great if you love birds like me or just a great place to unwind.
Great way to interact with the different plant and animal species of Southern California! Lots of educational stands and materials. Sometimes visitors will bring their dogs without a leash, though, disturbing the wildlife. And I think there should be more signage about rattlesnake dangers.
Been here 50+ years. First time FABULOUS
A nice walk with knowledgeable naturalist on site. Parking lot is tiny.
Interesting views and an easy walk
Honestly great! But there is a fair amount of nose from pch.... The visitors center currently has baby leopard sharks though!!
One of the best places in SoCal to see and photograph different avian species. Today, Ive seen 33 different birds. Including one of my favorite birds of prey - White-tailed Kite.
Been past this area probably 100s of times. Decided to stop in and walk along the wetlands area. Being that it was a beautiful day, and after the rains everything was blooming. I would highly recommend this area for a nice quiet walk.
Serene nature reserve that allows people to take a nice walk, enjoy the city life and birds all at the same time.
Dedicated organization.
A wonderful place to visit. Small exhibit but the walk in the wetland is fantastic.
Nice place to walk
Great nature walk definitely a must go! Great people and info at the office.
Great place to walk and forget about everything else.
Our favorite preserve for watching birds and seeing the power of nature. Also, great hikes are possible. Plus, the ocean is just across the highway.
This is an excellent non-profit and a great place for a science lesson, an easy hike, and some bird watching! Its especially beautiful after a rainfall
Take the tour of the wetlands with Stu. Hes awesome.
I just discovered this place and I am very happy about that. I took my family on a nature walk. We found birds, shells, plants. We had walked few miles in very pleasant weather. You can do many things here: walking, running, observing of a wildlife. You can have a date here or practice your photo skills. Everybody is welcome. Please, keep this place clean!!!
Such a pleasant strolling beach oasis.
Love this trail. Runs along PCH so you have a view of the ocean while you hike the Wetlands. Very easy, pretty flat trail. Good for running or walking. Lots of protected birdlife, too.
Well worth while visit, Great for adults as well as Kids
So beautiful. Great place for a morning walk
The most beautiful landscape, you will be transported into the nature within a city, there is tranquility at this place, fish birds and the breeze of the sea, and more.
Really nice place to do community service
Awesome, great walking access and nice easy strolling!
Been going since a kid and still beautifully preserved.
Personally not my favorite, but anyone who likes nature walks and untouched nature would love this
It was fun to walk and see all of the birds but no safety rails to protect the kids from sliding off the long trail full of rocks near the lake.
We enjoyed a long walk while seeing lizards, squirrels, birds and butterflies.
Fun Walking around
Great place for a walk or run. Lots of different paths to take. Free parking.
I really didnt know this place existed. Its on the corner of PCH and Warner. They have snakes, lizards, fish, sharks, crabs, sea urchins, sea snails, sea anemone, Lobster, Taxidermy Birds, and a big taxidermy bear in the corner of the room with a Bolsa Chica Conservancy hat on! Its a really interesting place and the people there are friendly and knowledgeable. Great place to observe Birds in the huge walking Trail around the marsh lands. A cool place to spend an afternoon!
One of the few native wetlands left in Orange County. This place is magical and deserves as much protection as we can offer. Great place to volunteer and learn in the interpretive center about the native wildlife and habitat.
This area runs parallel to the coast highway and offers a continual view of the ocean. At some points and on a clear day you can see Catalina island, palos verses, saddleback mint, my baldy with snow, my Wilson and all the TV antennas, the Santa Monica mountains and down to Laguna beach. In spring the trail snakes through wild flowers. The are tens or bird species, snakes and small critters. They have a small museum with taxidermy and live snakes and sea life.
Beautiful with plenty of paths to pursue.
This place is nice. Free parking, bird watching, lovely views and nature. Great for hikes or runs or relaxing.
Awesome nature walk! With lots of birds
Had a great walk and saw birds, a snake, a squirrel, lots of beautiful flowers and plants. Lovely place to visit.
If you enjoy the nature and it a place to be
Beautiful and the volunteers are very knowledgeable and helpful!
GREAT place! Super family-friendly, helpful staff, and incredibly important mission! I cannot say enough good things about this place ;-) . LOVE you guys! Keep up your great work!
Before I visited one I didnt even know what an estuary was. Apparently an estuary is a partly enclosed body of water that occurs along the coast of an ocean. It has an open connection with the sea as well as being fed by sources of fresh water, rivers and streams. Estuaries are a place where fresh water and salt water combine forming a unique environment, hosting a variety of wild life. The Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve is located in the northwest corner of Orange County California. It is made up of 1200 acres of wetlands and 118 acres of upland habitat. Of the 1200 acres of wetlands certainly some of it could be considered swamp but maybe thats not a very fashionable word. Many of the wonders to be found in an estuary are small wonders, tiny flowers, insect varieties, salamanders and rodents, to name a few. Many of them are the very things you would hide from your neighbors, if they were in your house, are cute and surprising to discover here. We took the Pocket Loop Trail running along the edge of the inner bay. It was just under a mile long and an easy flat walk. Pelicans glided in for soft landings on the placid face of the tidal basin. A Heron stood knee-deep along the shore, waiting stoically for some food to swim or drift by. Smaller birds scurried around, as smaller birds will, seeming unable to decide just what to do. There were places where you could walk to the edge of the upland and view the entire basin. The edge of the basin was lined with discarded plastic bags and other refuge but mostly plastic bags. I had heard that ships in the ocean report seeing large islands of floating plastic trash and debris. I have wondered if these islands support life of any kind and what kinds of life that might be? Could plastic turn out to be not such a bad thing after all? At the estuary volunteers spends some of their Saturdays cleaning up after their fellow citizens. There are good people everywhere.Because estuaries occur along the shore of oceans they are located in heavily populated areas. Building and land development contribute to sedimentation and soil erosion. It invites developers to consider draining and filling estuaries to increase the available valuable shore-front property. Because of the population density even over-fishing is a hazard. Visit an estuary and learn about their value and the need to preserve a balance with nature. If youre in or near Huntington Beach California visit the Bolsa Chica Reserve at 3842 Warner Avenue, and enjoy.
Lots of birds, lizards, fish, native plants. Docents explain well. Saw Great Blue Herons and their nests with babies. Red Tailed Hawk. Snowy Egret. Lots of sea birds. Lots of caterpillars Id never seen before. Mostly flat so easy walking.
Great place for a stroll and relaxing
Wonderful people are present to answer all your wetland questions
Top Ten Bays
Love it
Great place for a quick hike.
Great place to walk.
Beautiful hiking trail and lots of animals to explore!
A popular place for birdwatching and wildlife viewing. Hiking here is easy, with miles of long stretches along the levees and out onto the suburban streets if you wish.
Great place to visit with family or friends.
Nice place for a quick walk with nature
Free parking, and a lovely run around three watershed area. Lots of birds to see and well maintained trails to run/ walk on
Great place to walk and think
The Bolsa Chica Conservancy is a wonderful place and is one of the last remaining coastal wetlands in California! This is a place that we should be striving to maintain, due to the fact that the wetlands are only shrinking instead of growing! Due to the fact that conservancy is private, all funding is done out of pocket for these guys, and if any of you have ever worked in non-profit it can certainly be a struggle to find resources and donors. The staff is really fantastic, and professional with an on staff restoration ecologist, biologist, and herpetologist that are extremely knowledgeable. But the lack of funding and staff make it difficult to maintain, this is certainly a place one should come and check out!
Good walk with wonderful birds
Great needs some work
Nice day, ocean breeze :)
Beautiful place, but people need to be more careful with their trash. Lots of wildlife, some cool ww2 gun turet reminents, and lots of sunshine.
Great place if your looking to volunteer! This place offers opportunities to help twice a month from 9am-12pm in which you help restore the Bolsa Chica Wetlands ans learn about the local ecosystem as well.
Great place to go
Excellent nature preserve on the edge of the city. Great sea birds.
This a great place for a short run or hike. One problem this place has is the huge amount invasive species. So if you need to do something on the first Sunday or third Saturday of any month, come and do so conservation work.
