My daughters credit card was stolen, she was in Dallas, Im in Austin. I called the store, and they confirmed the transaction, card, and name - said it was bought online. I asked for a refund, and they said the only way they would give a refund was if I came in person with the tickets. Mindful, Im 3+hrs away, and then the manager was telling me it was illegal to do a refund without the tickets in hand, I asked if they could identify the transaction when the person showed up, they said, yes. Then I told them that I would have the local police meet them there, then they got angry about getting involved in a sting operation against their customers!?!
Parking is difficult and expensive. If you valet park, you just have to pay it. If you park in the garage, they give you credit in food or drinks. The theater was not clean. Bathrooms were nasty. The movie never started. We had to go get help...they finally got the movie to start, about 40 minutes late, but it only played for about an hour. They couldn’t get it to finish. The only good thing about this experience was the manager. He could not refund our money, but he gave us coupons that we could use at any AMC theater. This was good, since we don’t live in Houston...he was very apologetic about our experience and truly tried to make it better.
This is my fave AMC Theater but they have to get the reclining chairs. Great atmosphere and always greeted with kindness.
Come and join us we are open for business. We are a safe and clean environment.
Nice theater. Seating comfortable and clean. This theater is located over a 3 story parking garage with elevators that bring you up to the theater entrance. The concession attendant told me if I paid the $8 parking fee from the theater parking garage she would give me $8 credit toward my concession cost. Next time I think I will do that verses paying $20 for valley and $20 concessions.
This is a great theater. They have great movies and reasonable prices for tickets. Like all movie theaters, the food and drinks are expensive but the popcorn is delicious. If you join their Stubs A-List program, you can see three movies a week every week for $21 per month. Its worth it. The auditoriums are never crowded and are clean.
I really enjoyed watching movie here. want to visit again.
Very clean movie theater will kind and helpful staff. Popcorn is good and they have the big 100 selection soda machine. There is also a full bar with a grill that is priced fairly well considering its a movie theater.
Went there on a date in the afternoon and had a good time. The theater was almost empty (give the hours). The staff was extremely nice and friendly. The guy that prepared our food was really nice and actually had a pleasant conversation with my boyfriend. Over all one of the best movie theater experiences.
The guy at the counter was a bit rude and did not give me my full order correctly. Food was a bit high amd for the same price could have ate better at the hard rock for the same amount. Spent $72 on 3 pizzas, 2 hot dogs, nachos, n 3 drinks!..not including my movie tickets
Customer service was not good. The guy wouldnt sell me any cheese for my hotdog. I wont return here. I go to Tinsel town which is much farther from me
I went to 5pm show in theater 8 on 1/3/2020. The quality of the screen and or of the movie itself was bad. that within minutes of the movie starting I knew I wouldnt be able to sit through it. There were patterns and lights within the light on the screen that was very hard to ignore. I asked for a refund and the nice girl told me it was too hard to process a refund.
I paid $12.00 for a movie ticket and $12.00 to park to see the movie. I went to see Advengers: End Game on Sun. May 26th, 2019 at 6:00pm. It was played in room/theater 7. There was trash on the floor and in the seats from the pervious movie shown. The restroom was dirty and trash can overflowing. There is rust on the handle and back of the toilet. For the following reasons stated above is why I gave this establishment 1 star rating, and I would not recommend it.
I really enjoy this theater but since it changed hands its been in a decline. Mens restroom is unbearably dirty and needs to be professionally cleaned by a paid service or remodeled. Ill continue to visit because its convenient and the actual theaters are clean. Staff is friendly. Take note, parking no longer validated but other options are available.
Nice theater! Good staff. They also have officers on standby so that is nice too.
I love the Alamo Drafthouse but AMC is a close second. Great place to see movies downtown.
Staff is great, place is clean, but if you need anything other than snack station or tickets dont expect much.
Pretty chill vibe low-key wasnt over crowded when I went no long lines and it was a Saturday also clean
1st time visit & came to see “Last Christmas” (11/22/19 - 4:30pm) quiet & clean, confessions cost a bit higher than Regal but other than that, we have a wonderful time.. (right across the Wortham Theater.
Very clean. Great staff. The theaters have tables and very comfortable seating.
I enjoyed it. Even though it seems like old part of town, low energy, it was nice
Love this theater because the seats are comfortable and it never seems to get too crowded. There are also options to buy food/drinks.
Its okay. They could have had newer seats. But the night staff is very nice.
A little pricey, but a nice enough venue. Decent drinks. The speakers in the theatres were rather loud and had too much bass, but not painfully so. Well come back here if we feel like spending the money, but really you can watch the same movie elsewhere with better sound for half the price. I give it 4 stars because others may enjoy the small art gallery and vibe there. It also is one stop for food, drinks, and snacks.
Great experience really comfortable
Everyone who rates this place poorly is nostalgic for the Angelica.I am too.But when rating it for what it is as opposed to what it was, it deserves better recognition.Great location. While parking isnt refunded, you can get credited to food/booze/future tickets.Cheap matinee.Reserved seating (though other customers HAVE TO READ THEIR STUBS AND SIT IN THEIR SEATS!)Did I need reiterate: booze!
Theres absolutely no reason to watch a movie at this AMC, drive down 59 and go to another.
Came to visit to enjoy Dr. DoLittle part two of a movie I’ve seen when I was younger. To my surprise this time attending this venue was not a good experience. The ticket machine could not print my ticket after I purchased it. I had to inform the gentleman that was checking tickets that it said for me to let him know.. After waiting when the movie was supposed to have started at 1:45pm and stayed on a movie start screen all the way until 2:18pm with no staff or management addressing those attending. Not even coming in to say if there was a problem and what was being done to solve it. Several of attendees left to ask questions and to find out what was going on.One gentleman (attendee) returned informing that everyone would receive their movie ticket credited, a free ticket and credit for their food. I myself hadn’t purchased any food items. Therefore I went down to the concession stand to order a hotdog and a soda. I asked the lady behind the counter would this be, comp being I’m attending the Dr. Dolittle movie and provided her my ticket. She said that she dose not know if they where still doing that and called for a manager. The manager came as he rudely interrupted his own employee when she was trying to explain the situation and then turn to me. I was surprised by his action being I myself is a manger and would never bluntly ignore what my employee had to say. I then informed him of the situation as I was cut off in mid sentence and informed that we not giving free food. Yet others where credited for tickets & food an was provided a comp ticket.I asked for his information I was a form that he had no business card. I then ask for his general managers information he said he had something to do and never showed back to the counter. I informed the lady at the concession stand that I would return after the movie was over and if he brought the information I will pick it up then. I return after the movie was over and no information was left. I then asked the gentleman taking tickets to call for him.As the time passed, I had stood waiting and asked what was the status of the manager coming or was he not coming. It was 24 minutes after the fact that he shows up with a customer service card. During that time I watch the police on duty check tickets, while the gentleman taking tickets fix the butter machine for the popcorn. The lack of staffing is not the consumer faults.
I love AMC but this one is super outdated. Chairs rock back and forth with everyone that passes behind you which was annoying. Dont recline. Parking is expensive but you can redeem the value in concessions or a movie pass. Came here because it was closer to my friend, but I wont be back to this one in particular unless I really have to.
Beautiful movie theater. Comfy seats, a reasonable price, and a large selection at the concession stand
They didn’t let us in late when we were a few minutes late to the movie. The staff were very rude and impolite to us. We asked for the mans name who didn’t let us in and he proceeded to hide in the kitchen. On top of that, we were not granted a refund. This is the worst amc location I’ve ever been to and that’s saying a lot because I’ve been to some pretty run down locations.
The theaters are in desperate need of renovations, especially for such a high end location. But the upside for the movie going experience is you always get a good seat. Matinees are cheap as dirt and the staff is pleasant.
Parking is more than tickets....no refill on jumbo popcorn like other theaters. The OCR read still requires paper ticket so if you dont party with same credit card you are in for major hassle. Had to go ask that the sound be turned on......seating was very good as was the quality of show once engaged
I have never seen so many leather couches in one place. Very clean. Comfy seats with a drink holder and a tiny table for your snacks. Automated ticket kiosks. Very friendly.
Movie was great. It was very busy. Not well stocked though. They were trying. Newest Marvel film.
Multi screen movie theater in downtown. On this night they seem overwhelmed by the Avengers movie debut. Extremely long lines prevented me from purchasing concessions. Trash is overrunning, the bathrooms are a mess popcorn all over the floor in front of the counters behind the counters is worse.I see one man cleaning up, obviously they need more.
We used to go to this theater all the time since it was close and because it was downtown, less kids. However, the last 3 times, it has been understaffed and dirty even when it was the first show of the day. We never received notice that parking reimbursement had changed. So after going through concession line and spending $20, I was told by ticket taker (who used to reimburse for parking) that concession now did that. So back I go to the concession line only to be told that you have to get reimbursed at the time you buy. She refused to reimburse me even though I had a receipt for my concession stand purpose. We went to watch our movie. Theater as filthy like,p previous times. You literally stick to the floor. We won’t be back.
FYI if you go before 1 or 2 pm you pay about $6 for any movie ticket which I think is really good and plus not alot of people go (its not pack)
Probably won’t be back..... before it was bought out by AMC, I liked this theater. It’s centrally located, had a good selection of food/drinks, and was always clean. Now, the lobby is dirty, the bathrooms are dirty, the theater smells. The prices are up and quality down. Last time we came, we had to go and ask someone to turn off the theater lights after the movie had started. Now, they have the sound on unbearably loud and the theater smells musty and is dirty. Won’t be coming back.
The seats are comfortable, there are mini-tables every two seats. The bar has a selection of wines and liquor. The bartender is pretty cool. And the theather is very clean.
Very disappointed, we have been waiting for an hour for them to open.Vendors and employees have been waiting longer, management shame on you.I pay a monthly fee to enjoy a movie when I can, this is unacceptable.AMC you are better than this!!
Nice small theatre! Perfect for a quick movie.
This theater needs a major overhaul. Downtown Houston location and it is the worst of all the AMC around. Please put in some upgrades - reclining seats or something.
Staff is very pleasant. Great location. Love the intimate feel of the theaters. Unfortunately, its not being kept clean. There was debris all over the food counter. Most of the napkin boxes were empty. Debris on the floor. AND THE BATHROOMS WERE VERY DIRTY!!!
I liked how its located in the middle of downtown. Only its a bit of a challenge to find parking. Theres only valet parking available at the theater itself. If you drive around the block you can park at the meters and walk to the theater. The movie theater inside was beautiful and clean. Also the concession stand is very nice. We noticed though that it was pretty quiet there werent many people there and it was on the weekend in the evening which was unexpected.
Do not go to this theater!!! It has really gone down hill since changing to AMC. We went to see Avengers End Game opening weekend. The theater was absolutely disgusting. There was trash on literally every surface in the lobby. The soda machines had huge puddles surrounding them. Bathrooms were absolutely terrible. No soap. Sinks were clogged. Puddles of who knows what on the floor. After leaving the theater, there were 3 over flowing trashcans sitting outside the door. No where to throw away our trash and smelled horrible. We will not be going back.
What a great place. I loved how they had tables attached your chair to eat your food in the therater. Also there were couches all around outside the therater for waiting...a really nice place. Only two things I was puzzled with. The womens bathroom needs an upgrade ASP and for such a nice theater I thought they would have reclining seats like most of the other AMCs I have visited. Overall...it was a great experience!
First time at this theatre. Nothing what I expected. It was better than what I imagined
Pay to park, really common in this area. Clean amd comfy theater. As with any theater concession is way over priced so didnt buy anything.
Excellent movie theater for those inside the loop. Free parking with any ticket purchase.
Gus, was an amazing wonderful help and made our evening even better. Thanks from Russell and Heather and Slayer and JOKER
Cozy theater with full bar and real (non-theater / microwaved) food
This is a great place to go see a movie ! Its not very busy and a little disorganized but the staff is friendly and the theatre is cozy. We hop the light rail from the museum district then get off downtown....take a nice walk west and then bam...youre there ! Check it out!
This was the first time we went to this AMC Houston 8 in downtown it would have very peaceful and look like a hotel lobby everybody was professional and just really nice and neat and helpful
Since AMC has taken over Sun dance Cinemas, it’s not been the same. The service is not what it used to be, the movie selection had gone mainstream, the theater as a whole is not clean & employees are aloof. The service used to be personal. If you didn’t want to go to a mainstream theater, you could always count on Sundance to provide great independent films and a clientele who truly loved film and cared about preservation of great movies. Now it’s like any other theater. AMC you truly missed the mark on this acquisition.
Very nice theatre. Convenient access via light rail. Comfy seats! A good time!#
This place smells! Bugs flying around in the theater and I dont think they know what air conditioning is. Oh and dont forget the slow pace service at the concession stand. Really a poor excuse for theater.
Sad to see this place go down so much. I dont even know how they are still open with no one filling the seats. Can tell by the interactions that the others that are there are mostly employees on their off days. Place is extremely dirty. I dealt with the poor performance of the AC unit for years; but seeing the place now, it wont be long before the doors are closed.
AMC 8 Houston is horrendously dirty and filthy, the restrooms and the theatre as a whole is beyond nasty and dirty. It’s extremely disappointing because we really enjoyed watching movies downtown when it was Sundance. AMC should be embarrassed by the horrible conditions of this theatre and if they’re unwilling to fix the problems they should let someone else take it over, there’s no reason we shouldn’t have a nice theatre to enjoy downtown.
Theatre was good, parking was underneath of the buliding, which will be little tricky to find .
Loved it date night with my youngest daughter we really enjoyed ourselves...quiet, comfortable seats, good hot popcorn...
So freaking good but its to cold in there
Its a nice place. At first, I didnt like that it doesnt have a parking lot; you have to park somewhere else. Its kind of expensive but you get whatever you paid for parking as a discount if you buy food at the theater. You must park in the parking that says something like theaters parking. Blue signs with the long . Dont forget your receipt so you will get the discount.I paid $12 for the parking and got $12 off on the food.
I’m honestly so disappointed in this theater and staff. We purchased movie tickets for a 3:00 showing and walked into the wrong showroom because the label said a different movie title. Thinking we were walking into our movie AS LABLED, we realized we caught the ending to a different showing. When we asked if we can reschedule to a later showing they said it wouldn’t be possible. NO refund, no accommodations! They didn’t even let us speak to a manager! LAST TIME COMING HERE!
Very crowded at night so plan ahead when you want to get food or something to drink! Otherwise, it is fun to blend in
Theatre has a living room feel but no reclining seats like the amc 24. Expensive prices as usual.
Is big and you can do mire than just watch a movie, relax un one of the diferent wating areas.
Do you hate your ears? Then go to AMC Houston 8! Sat through a blockbuster movie in agony because the sounds was so bad. If I wasnt with a bunch of friends Id have walked out.
The theater seats and restroom need to be updated ASAP. Its truly disappointing the surrounding AMC theaters (i.e. The Fountains, Sugarland, etc.) are more clean and up to date than the Downtown theater. Especially considering you have to pay for parking.
Good movie theatre...great location! My sisters had snacks...they devoured the popcorn! It smelled really good!
They dont validate parking, and all the great deals from before when it was Angelika/Sundance theater are gone, but everything is still exactly the same.
Theater and food stand was not very clean...trash left in multiple seats from previous showtime, but the awesome customer service and friendliness of the employees made up for it. I’ll give this location another try soon to see if it was just an off day.
Did not have a good experience in this place. Everything feels run down. Most of the drink options on the fountain were not available. The sound in the theater was very low. The restrooms were filthy. Really only good thing to say is that its a great location and hardly anyone in the Theatre on a Friday night. I wonder why?
Nice theater. Small enough to feel cozy but doesnt feel overly small. Nice full bar. Seats are very comfy. Its downtown so parking is the usual headache. If you park in the garage across the street for 12 bucks and take the ticket to the concession counter they refund you the money.
Although it is small it is probably the nicest and cleanest AMC in Houston.
Great movie theatre the real meaning of luxury
This theater was very nice. Ive never been to a theater like this. It is perfect for an adult date night, as well as with the family.
Theater is fine, have had issues with projector in past which limited viewing experience. Park underground near by and get a discount on concession.
Slow service and I do not like being made to feel like a second class citizen by not being a member of their club / cult
Thank goodness it was a Monday night and no one was there. Else, how would they keep track of who ordered what if the lobby had been full of people? The cashier at the concessions barely mumbled a word when we ordered. When I finished paying for popcorn and water, she went on to the next customer without giving me my popcorn. Then the popcorn tasted old and there were too many small pieces. . . a sure sign of old popcorn. The website advertises unique eats. Pizza, chicken fingers and giant pretzels does not constitute uniqueness. The seats were wide and comfortable but the theater had a mildewy odor. There is so much movie theatre competition these days, I think this one needs to step up its game.
It was my favorite when I use to live close to midtown, they have good theater rooms, I dont know if they have parking service, but its ok for an small movie theater, and you can always use the metro to avoid that issue
Nice place small and super cold so bring you a blanket
This is by far the most disgusting theatre other than the Gulf Freeway location. Bathrooms smell like a dirty gas station bathroom. The toilet had overflowed and it was left there not even mopped, I felt like I was going to catch a disease being in that restroom. The theatre itself smelt like cigarettes and mold.Very disgusting theatre. DONT GO HERE !!!
This is the closest AMC to me, downfalls are: the hours, parking, and the majority of the time an incredibly lazy staff.Good things are small theaters so distraction is small, decent size seats, a place to put hour food besides your lap. There has been a small improvement in cleanliness, and starting the movies on time.
Revised. I was really disappointed in how they messed up the Avengers End Game 1st showing @ 6 in theater 6. The staff couldnt manage the equipment and stopped the movie 3 times before I gave up and left. I knew there would be lines and I patiently waited while the staff sorted through so many people. The experience was ruined though and I cant trust this theater anymore. I received a free voucher as compensation but wont use it as I wont visit again.1st review...it was a good experience. Small and quaint in the theater district downtown. Mostly a mature crowd. Its not super high end but the set up is nice with seats that are comfortable with enough room to easily settle in for a 2 hour flick. The lounge is a nice touch before or after the movie. Theres parking on the street if your lucky or park in the underground garage that connects to the theater to avoid the weather. The train goes right down the street too. Theyll comp you for your parking if you hit the concession stand. All in all worthy of being my go to for seeing movies or mixing in a date night because of the location.
Dirty interior. Dirty seats. Dirty restrooms. Dirty windows. Indifferent staff. Never again.
Better after the remodel but they need to clean their theaters more frequently. Ours was covered in pop corn and sticky slushy
Considering I went on Christmas Eve, the place was dirty and dingy. The bathrooms were dirty and moldy.
Very spacious and comfortable. Staff was very professional.
I WANT to like this theater. So whats my issue with it? This is a business that values gouging customers over fostering loyalty with customers. If you pay for parking with a credit card and youve already purchased your movie ticket online, your parking fee is not credited to your card. Instead, they let you use that fee as credit at concessions. Huh?? I just spent $40 for 2 people to see a movie and park the car. And I spent 25 minutes watching ad after ad after ad after ad before finally getting to the movie that I paid to see. And I would like to take advantage of the free parking that you claim to offer. I dont want gum and popcorn. I dont want your syrupy fountain drinks. Id like you to honor your promise and give me the free parking that you used to lure me to your theater. But no. AMC Houston 8 is a business that prioritizes short-term profits over long-term loyalty from customers. I know this is the USA. And I know that were supposed to worship at the alter of the free market. But Im just so tired of being hit in the face every time I turn around with some new attempt to separate me from my money. When you honor your promises and demonstrate solid customer service, THEN I will return and give you my business and a small portion of my income. But AMC Houston 8, you have some work to do before I will ever go back there again.
1. Parking is $12. It was not explained that if you keep the parking receipt it can be redeemed at the food/bar area.2. I ordered a hot dog. After 10 minutes I enquired where the hot dog was. After checking I was informed to wait a few minutes. After further checking I was told the “cook” did not show up.3. 15 minutes into it I asked for a refund. The concessions staff did not know how to issue a refund. Eventually it was taken care of 20 mins since ordering the hot dog.4. The movie was scheduled to start at 1:30pm. After 30 minutes of ads and trailers it started at 2pm!!!!5. The seat and general area in the theater had not been cleaned. It was not good.6. I was told the ladies bathroom was disgusting by wife.7. My urinal in the men’s bathroom had puke in it.If I could give less than one star I would.
Good screens and sound. Seats are very comfortable. Parking isnt the best, but thats not really on them.
Very nice and clean movie theater! The staff are young and professional. I Always enjoy coming here to chill and watch a .
It was on Saturday night January 18 2020, I was here to watch Bad boys 3, the movie theater was very very nasty. The toilets was disgusting.
