I liked this monument. First, it looks life-like, but since John Coltrane was a musician; the accompanying story board of his life, played selected clips of his jazz when activated. Well done High Point!
You need to park on the side, next to the statue and take pictures with it. Do not leave the car or they will tow it. Also...not a safe place. While I was taking pictures I had guys yelling at me Hey white girl what are u doing? Hey cutie take a picture with us etc...It made me very uncomfortable and unsafe . Avoid going at dark . Do not go alone
Very nice people treats me good every visit
This is a historic landmark of unprecedented significance in North Carolina. John Coltrane is one of the greatest musicians who has ever lived. He was born in Hamlet l, North Carolina and grew up in High Point, North Carolina before moving to Philadelphia. This place IS safe. Im proud that North Carolina has this statue. There are many other Jazz musicians who are deserving of one as so many Jazz musicians (and other musicians), hail from N.C. Also featured at the site, are weatherproof audio examples of his work!!!!!!! Three cheers!!! Three cheers!!!Three cheers for John Coltrane!!!!!!!
If you love jazz, this is a must see. So much history in High Point and this rememberence delivers; The plaque plays different Coltrane hits along with background information about his music. We enjoyed listening to Coltrane while reading but be warned, it plays loudly on a quiet night!
I love jazz music and to my surprise was a statue of Coltrane, a High point local.
If you love Jazz, than John Coltrane statue is must see in High Point
