The handicap RV FHU (15, 30, & 50amp) sites (98 & 99) I seen had nice space and wheel chair accessible. Restroom and showers are close. Space 98 is fully paved and wider than the other. The showers are $3.50 for 15 minutes. You will need to bring plenty of quarters if you dont have a shower in your RV/Trailer. I didnt see any change machine around the building. You will not be able to pickup free air TV stations at this location, but, I can say that Verizon has great coverage all over the park, I have four bars out of five on my Android phone and stream video for TV viewing. I also noticed a few people setting up there satellites. Restrooms & showers are clean, park personnel are constantly driving around, but as we know some people dont know how to clean after themselves.Look, clean as you go. If you drop it, pick it up. When you leave police (clean) the area. I had a great time, and will definitely come again.
Its pretty nice, you have plenty of space to do lots of stuff. Keep in mind when you swim in the lake, you have to wear slippers because there are lots of rocks and ticks there. Overall its a great experience would go back again soon. We stayed in camp slot 50 and if you look at the pictures that I put in this review.
We love this lake, there is a lot of space, YESSSS, YOU HAVE TO GET THERE EARLYYY....BEFORE 9AM... TO ENTER THE PARKING LOTS. Our first time was about a month ago, and it was a pain because we arrived around 11am and parking lots were FULL. We had to park along the curb before the parking road entrance and walk 40+min on the trail to get to the lake. ** if you park along the curb and hit the RED lane, you get a TICKET. Other than that, there are a lot of parking lots around the lake. There are also restrooms near most parking lots. I heard there are showers operated by coins, but we did not use them. We have been coming every weekend since a month ago. Bring your tent, lots of water/drinks and food.
The area is beautiful with very spacious campsites. Each campsite had wonderful shade. There was a nice breeze, however you could still leave your canopy out.I gave four stars because the bathrooms were not as clean as I would have expected. Also, the check in was not as streamlined as it could have been. You cannot walk to the lake from your campsite, and there is not enough parking at the lake.Overall, very quite and serene.
I went to this state park with a lot of expectations. This was the first state park I visited in California, and I hope this is the worst one. The interaction with the lady in the visitor center was not the most pleasant one. The camp site was not very clean, though it might be the previous occupants fault. However, the next day I observed multiple trash cans overflowed with garbage. It seems theres no system in place for waste management or the system is malfunctioning.I had a short hike which the only thing bothered me a lot was TRASH everywhere.Another problem I saw was the showers. Who in a million years carry quarters anymore, let alone bring it to camping for the shower?
I like this place. $10 gets you in for the day. It can get really busy but if you get lucky and come on the right day you can have a lot of fun. There are bathrooms, running water, grills, swim beach, fishing, jet ski rental, boat launches, a store with everythong including beer, lots of shade. Take the family or go solo. This place is cool.
Great place for hiking!!I travelled to Silverwood Lake State Park last year in the fall after a recommendation from a business colleauge who lives in the area. It was late afternoon and I wanted to get a couple of hours of hiking before nightfall. I certainly went to the right place. The Park Ranger gave me a good overview of where to hike. I decided to hike the trail leading to Serrano Beach. It took a few hours, but it was worth it. There were great views of the lake, the trail is well maintained, and I saw a few people on the trail. I got to the beach and was able to make it back to my parking spot before sundown. The trail is fairly easy to walk and people of all ages can use the trail. I will go back someday, and start earlier and try another trail. This State Park is great for families and solo hikers.
I arrived here at about mid-day on a Saturday, having driven in from the west on Hwy 138. The drive was easy and the road in good condition. From the approaching road, the lake looks like a big blue slash of paint on the landscape, and many people clearly enjoy being on the water. The reason I went, though, was to see about doing some aerial photography. Silverwood Lake is listed on more than one site as a place to go do some drone work, so I was surprised when I stopped at the gate to pay my $10 admission fee and asked about local regulations. As it turns out, there are local restrictions against drones.I left without using the facility, drove up the road, and thanks to mobile internet connections, I researched it from my phone. What I found out is that each state park district has the legal authority to post its own restrictions on Unmanned Aerial Systems (UASs, or drones). The language I found most often in my research implies strongly that there is supposed to be something posted in writing, but the reality is that if the State Park Police tell you something, thats really what counts. If I was looking for somewhere to get on (or in) the water, this looks like a great place to go. Its not so good for aerial photography, though.
We stayed at the Mesa Campgrounds. We had a great site tucked away behind some trees which offered great privacy. However, all the camp sites are very close together. The quiet hours are not enforced at this campsite. Our neighboring campers were blasting music until midnight and started right up again at 7am.
Its a great spot but, the lack of respect from others is disheartening. Even while a pandemic is going on people are still enjoying the outdoors which is great. Although I understand its a public spot, social distancing should be in everyones priority.... the life guards are amazing at calling out people who are doing things such as in our situation someone fishing and casting right next to our kids which should be common knowledge (not safe) the lake is beautiful, peaceful. The staff is amazing. But always remember wear your masks, social distance and respect others spaces as a courtesy while we all do our best to keep our families safe.
Beautiful scenic lake. At the time I was there water was clear and looked so clean. Great place for camping, hiking, water play, just about everything. Fishing that time was no-go. None of my buddies caught anything.
Really nice, clean and beautiful location. The only thing is that it would be nice if there were more direction signs. It’s confusing once you get up in the area. Other than that, outdoors nature is so beautiful.
Highly recommend this place, the trip is really worth, you have to know in advance they dont allow you to cook unless is in a no coal grill...
Just what my family needed... Camping was memorable and beautiful as always...
I used to live there in apple valley and go there its assume and I went yesterday because I was having church there and I coldest wait to go swimming it was awesome
I had a blast! The sunset was beautiful.
This is a great picnic place and the lake is beautiful and big. Fish, relax on the beach or take the boat out for a spin. Excellent family place to spend the day.
Very friendly park rangers and beautiful area. Lake is a bit small, but beautiful nonetheless.
Good kayaking lake . Always check the weather before going out on the lake . It could get windy some days
Lots of parking, open space, shaded picnic tables, lifeguards and two stores to either get a meal or get your missed camping items!!!
Campgrounds are clean and well kept bathrooms are also surprisingly clean! Perfect spot for family trips or a quick escape! Water is clean and beautiful thanks to the super wet winter we had! There are hiking trails for all skill sets and pretty decent fishing.
Was such a beautiful day no smoke. Little breeze wonderful day with my lady. On the. Boat
Great times im the San Bernardino National Forest
My family and I went here and stayed at the camp sites for two nights. Had a good time there and at the lake. They got hiking trails and you are able to swim in the lake and that was awesome.
Go during the week to have a great time here. No reservations needed to launch your boats or jetskis. You go on the weekends its packed and you will need reservations no more first come first serve on the weekends anymore. They are only having half capacity of boats allowed on the lake. Hope this helps people who go boating. Still 10$ a car to enter.
Great campground and clean facilities. Bathrooms and showers within the campsite were cleaned/restockedat least once a day. Nice lake for swimming and fishing, but not a lot of shade. Overall a good place to set up a tent and spend one or two nights.......now with that said...We spent Sunday to Friday here and were very ready to leave by Wednesday morning. This is by no fault of the campground or the super helpful and considerate staff, but the close proximity (without any real privacy) to neighboring sites full of people that all decided noise rules dont apply to them, and subsequently treat the grounds and the lake shore like their own personal trash can make this place less than a 2 star stay...If youre into loud summertime campers playing music and getting very rowdy into the wee hours of the night maybe this is the place for you. For a couple of grown adults who just wanted to get away from the city for a few nights this was almost like leaving the windows open at home and listening to the homeless and inebriated people yell at each other. Definitely wont be back for the summer again.
Amazing day at the beach! In a flooded valley surrounded by tree covered slopes! And all for $10.00... Such a deal... With nice people from all over the world... Doesnt get any better than that!
Love the lake and all of the coves. Learning to deal with the wind which kicks up every afternoon. Had fun kayaking here. It would be great if there was a tad more parking and maybe an online alert so we can know that it’s closed before making the trek to the lake.
Loved it very relaxing lots of shade & bike trails. Restrooms super clean..
A nice lake, but trashed by visitors not taking care of the area. Dead fish left on shore, fishing line all along the swimming beach. Picked up several lures and other tackle. Families playing loud music ruins the beauty and peacefulness when kayaking along the shores and hats. At a time when there should be very few onsite, the grounds were a mess.
Its always been a great place to cool off and have with family and friends
Nice walking paths. You have to be careful at this time of year, there are rattlesnakes out. Lots of bugs this time of year as well.
Great spot! Not to crowded- only bad thing was the bathrooms! They definitely need to get that fixed especially when we pay to go inside. Not sanitary
Really nice place to enjoy with family very clean little store where you can find anything you need what i loved is that you can drink and fishing its very good
Very nice Lake. During Long weekends gets too busy so plan accordingly. Expect long lines. Overall had a pleasant time.
We camp here whenever we get the chance, or just come to the lake for the day! Always a good time. The snack bar is always stocked with ice and snacks/refreshments and the bathrooms are surprising clean and well kept.
A nice little lake with bbq areas, swim areas, a boat dock with rentals, and a store. A couple different areas you can go to. Several camp sites. Not too far to drive to from OC or LA.
This is our first time coming here! What a wonderful gem of a State Park! The staff checking us in was very helpful and friendly. The bathrooms are clean and in good working order. Be sure to bring quarters for the showers! $2 will get you four minutes of shower time. The lake is an easy walk away from most campsites through a forest of oaks.
First went there 30 years ago and it was nice. Its starting to look a bit weathered and could use some TLC.
Uneven campsites you have to climb stairs up and down to. Showers are coin showers. Clean for the most part. Quiet when we were there (July Tues-Thur). The campsites are 1 1/2 hike from the lake. There was a nice beach 2 min drive away so we just packed up lunch and stayed at beach for the day.
The whole area is completely trashed. We hoped it would be relatively clean after months of closure due to COVID, but our campsite was littered with dozens (probably close to 75) of bottle caps - both rusty beer bottle caps and plastic water bottle caps. Cigarette buttes galore. Fruit rinds/cores/seeds were strewn everywhere, and there were plenty of flies to feed on them. The lake itself is surrounded by all manner of trash, especially broken glass bottles and fishing line...plus discarded clothing, abandoned canopies/chairs, and snack wrappers everywhere. Pitch a tent on Skid Row if this is what youre looking for in a campground.
First time going, beautiful, a small fee to enter . Well worth it .
Nice place to have some Family time beautiful views
Awesome place to take the family but get there early on hot days or else youll have a long walk from the highway because parking spaces get full early.
Went for a drive there with an old friend hadnt seen for a long time. It was very nice day. Thank you David Wyatt for taking me on that drive.
My family Had a great time camping at Silverwood lake theres plenty of out door activities for young or old
I like it my daughter took me there its a nice place to go and relax with family and friends but if going you need to go early so you find parking.
Place was beautiful but extremely hard to find. We wanted to go jet skiing and the ranger lady who checked our boat didnt let us know that she took the plug out and didnt put it back. We put out ski into the water and went to take off and it started sinking thankfully one of the other boater were able to tow us back in. Took two hours to repair what she did. Not worth the trip.
I typically go for dispersed camping or the open country side. Although on this particular trip it did very well for me and my friends.there was plenty of trees to go wandering around through and the campground was quite probably because it was winter. This is site 82.
Hot. crowded. nothing to do here. beach is crowded & dirty. people leave their trash everywhere.
It was a very nice camping site and it has a beautiful lake that you can swim in,canoe in, fish in, and drive your boat in but you can still rent one to if you dont have one. The only thing I didnt like was that there was so many bugs.
First time on the lake and it was a nice weekday with almost the entire lake to ourselves...
Better than expected. Thoroughly enjoyed the day here. Get there early like 7am for a parking spot or risk a super long hike to the beach like me. Also if u park on the hill make sure to pull all the way to the right so ur vehicle is not touching the line. $71 ticket if ur wheel is touching the line. Most of the cars had tickets lol.
Great trails, lake, campground, sunsets, clean bathrooms. Hard to ask for more.
First time going with the kids they had fun goi g I. The water and seeing the squirrels, will definitely go again
Very windy!!!! Pretty much all 3 daysTried to rent a pontoon boat but had to be in line at 6am to get one!Needs updating
Certain camp site arent level. With pricky rocks embedded. Maybe better as a day tripper.
PCT wraps around a good portion of the lake with easy access to nice fishing holes, private beaches, and views. Nice picnic pavilions with bathrooms and water fountains along the lake. There is an ice cream and candy store setup next to restrooms but they are not always open. Great place for a family picnic and could also get pizza delivered there.
#Camping ....we got campsite #50 on mesa campground, its next to the bathrooms the only bad things was when people would slam the door in the middle of the night. And every now and then you can have a bad smell come thru your campsite. But its a great spot. They are clean. I would of giving it a 5 star if it wasnt for the shower situation you have to pay to take a shower so take 100 dollars in quaters because you literally get 4 min for 2 dollars. So I suggest you take one of those 5 gallon buckets or 2 fill it up at one of the water spouts and take it to the shower. I think its ridiculous for 45 dollars a night and still pay to take a shower. The campsites on that side are great the ones behind 50 are a hit and miss because a few of them dont have trees to provide proper shade they have fire pits, grills and tables. Also its only 4 bathrooms and 4 showers for that area and the one next to it so be prepare to wait in line to use the bathroom in the morning and evening. But I would go back of course with my 2 bucks lol.
The swim area is really dirty. Sadly, the park is not very well taken care of and you can clearly see it.
Really nice place to enjoy the weekend you can camp with your tent or rv. You can swim, fish ect alcohol is allowed anywhere in the park. And bbq’s also.
Water was clean most of the summer. Starting to scum up now, glad we enjoyed it while we could.
Extremely busy and sadly people have been leaving their trash littering the whole shoreline and waters . They need to have more staff as lake maintenance. The lake reaches maximum capacity and people paople park on turn outs filling the lake even more .
Most of the time its awesome. They didnt tell me when i was checking in for camping that the lake would be closed the next day. Came here expecting to kayak
We were here for the 4th of july weekend, it is a very nice big lake, picnic areas and a beach area and boat launch. Really refreshing water in the summer heat. It is very popular lake and can get very very crowded on summer holidays, to get a picnic area i would recommend getting there super early hours in the morning to beat the crowds.
Crazy overcrowded, not a single place to sit on the shore. Only about 10% of shore line is accessible. $10 to get in.
Not worth $50 a night. Day use is much better. We pay for amenities yet restrooms didnt work, website doesnt say you need quarters to shower and they dont provide quarters in the Marina. And after all that a park officer had the nerve to FLIP OUT over pulling 2 ft on to dirt for 5 minutes to pump our mattress up with our truck. We repeatedly apologize and after he wouldnt stop and continued to evict us I brought up the enforcement of the dirt yet no one would enforce the sanitation and cleaning of the restrooms and he repeatedly threatened after seeing I drove a dually but saying all 6 tires better be on the cement when he keeps checking. Pathetic how COVID is SO BAD yet tax dollars arent used to ensure sanitization and the same government that says its SO BAD does nothing to enforce cleanliness.
Beautiful day on a beautiful lake!
Relaxing day with the family in the beach area, not too packed. Good cell coverage too.
I just have a question. How many people are aloud in the pontoon boat??
Great place and great for boats and skis, etc. but water is cold there always
Lots of highway noise at our site. Noise rules were not enforced in the campground. No way to dry your hands in the bathroom, not good during a pandemic. To check in, rather than do it from your car, we all had to park our cars and go stand in line together, not good during a pandemic. Pavement was so poor, we couldnt skate or scooter. There was trash in our campsite already when we checked in. I could go on, but I think I made my point.
Went swimming and took a sea doo here with co worker and family we had a great time
Not too far away from home! Always a nice trip.
The water is horrible. Animals could die from drinking it. I fell in the water, swallowed some water started puking. It has a bad smell. Wish they would take care of it way better.
Simply gorgeous and very inexpensive entry. We loved it.
Great for a quick getaway. Bathrooms were very clean. $3.50 for showers.
Beautiful lake with great trails. We had an amazing time, you can camp, tent and rv. You just have to make reservations.
Beautiful campground and lake!
Best place to fish and ride boats and enjoy the beach with the family!
I am an active duty Marine that finally got to bring my new boat out after deployment. The previous owners last ran this boat on this very lake last fall. This spring I just bought the boat and after doing so I cleaned it up and ran clean water through the entire motor. So knowing that the motor is clean as a whistle I drove almost 2hrs to get to this lake. After a short inspection I had to drop my engine and literally a cup of the clean water leaked out and this lady Ann W. failed me. I was in shock when she told me I failed the inspection. Not only did I fail but I had to wait 8 DAYS to come back to reinspect. I said well I can just drive around the corner and make sure any water is out and she said it doesnt matter you already failed. The signature although unreadable looks like an Ann Winston. If you see an Ann employee ask for someone else to inspect your vessel. We drove 5hours today and wasted about $50 in gas just to be told we cant come into the park because of literally a few ounces of CLEAN WATER that came out of my motor. I even explained to Ann that I just thoroughly rinsed my motor out and she did not care. We had to turn around and drive all the way back home.
A lot of moss but very nice water to go swimming and fishing I caught a catfish
Keep in mind this is based on my single visit there and that I am the kind of person that ventures out into nature because I want it to be quiet and relaxing. As far as the lake it is very beautiful with a great view of the surrounding mountains. The park it self was very over crowded, hectic, and hard to find parking. There was a long wait for the restrooms and every stall seemed to be out of toilet paper. People seemed to compete to see who could blast their music the loudest... on the flipside everyone seemed to be having a good time with their families. As a music fan I was stoked to catch a band jamming in a picnic spot, but wondered if the people in the next spot would be annoyed. The park does have life guards, a couple of spots to rent kayaks and there is a very reasonably priced concession stand. Conclusion go here if you want to Barbecue/ party and let your kids have fun... If you dislike children and obnoxiously loud people its best to avoid this spot.
A bit trashy bu the shores but nice lake
My family had so much fun.
Great fishing location, has a ramp to unload your boat and nice size lake.
Just a landfill. Nothing to see here.
Beautiful park very nicely kept pretty great fishing, but the boats are very limited
This place is fun has many different places to hang out at along the coast. But it dose get busy sometimes.
Lovely, mushy shore but when you get past the seaweed its warm and pebbly.
Great for camping, fishing, boating and fishing. Only $10 per car for day use.
See official site says: Open daily 6 AM - 9 PM (All vessels must be trailered by sunset)
Green and the staff was awesome.Bathroom was clean
Labor Day weekend is packed!! Fun times!
Love this place. Camping in winter is great. Full hookups but watch the size of trailer. 30 is really pushing it. Nice and quiet in winter
It was nice but my phone died amazing tho
Not a bad place pretty quiet and relaxing only thing I dont like if you have to pay to use the showers after paying $60 a night to Camp basically other than that bathrooms are clean camping areas are well kept up lots of operating trails nearby hiking fishing boating also had a really nice view of the SpaceX rocket launch
