Herndon Centennial Golf Course

I live in Herndon and have been golfing here for 6 years. The course is short but the greens are tough, very undulated. The fairways and greens are in good shape, some of the tee boxes are uneven and not well directed. Club house staff is helpful, but less than friendly. The restaurant has tasty fast food. Its a good value for NOVA.

This golf course is often one of the best public courses out there that truly wont cost you dearly. I was disappointed playing this month because the course is just in total disrepair. Poor tee boxes, rough greens, and mediocre fairways. Perhaps the two months of COVID sabbatical prevented them from getting out there and working on the course. Im hoping it recovers soon.

Overall it was a good course pace was in target and conditions were about what expected for that type of course. Would likely play again for sure.

Herndon is a great course for the price and it has a lot of different holes with water and beautiful scenery. A lot of golfers tend to walk the course, and if you drive it is just as nice.While I am a fairly new golfer, I like the course and have played many times. The Staff is helpful and friendly. When my Dad and I played it was about $65 and that included a cart. Not expensive but not cheap. You can try one of the golf apps to get better pricing.Their breakfast sandwiches are really good as well!!

Course was in bad shape. But it a city muni track so Im sure there tight on staff right now. Greens full of sand from aeration. Fairways really shaggy. Give it till next spring, hopefully l get it in good shape

This course is currently in complete disrepair after all of the playing. Drainage is very poor also. Even after a little bit of rain its like walking through a swamp. The track is forgiving, although hitting from the tips is an entirely different experience. Range balls are much too expensive at $8 for 40 balls compared to other facilities. If you live nearby its worth checking out once they fix it up and let the grass breathe.

The course is in very poor shape, due to being over played and of late to much rain. While the course is very green and the rough thick,. Many Tee boxes are thin and bold. Worse is the standing water everywhere. We walked Friday (9/4) and were forever standing in water and mud.This course need to dry out and be overseeded for the fall season.

Pretty good municipal golf course with a great restaurant. Definitely one of the better golf courses in the area available for public use. The greens and fairways are very well taken care of, but the rough can be long so long hitters watch out!

Well priced and walkable course. a nice mix of hole designs (and changing tee boxes provide a definite experience change). only downside is pace of play can be slow on weekends— recommend walking, as you will just be sitting in cart if you don’t. staff is professional (and Julie is outstanding instructor— she’s helped mepeel a dozen strokes off my handicap). workable driving range, and ample practice green (only lacks a sand practice area). surprisingly good food inside.

Nice for a public golf course

Great little cafe inside Egg Karne, excellent breakfast sandwich, I will definitely return. The cook is awesome!!!

A no frills public course. The conditions were quite good when I visited. The staff were friendly.

A nice course and facility. Not country club pretentious, just welcoming and friendly. Good staff. Theyve always had a good restaurant, and with the recent change to Egg Carne, they still do. Its worthy of a visit whether you golf, or not.

Tried to get some range time in this morning before I had to be at work, but its closed due to Frost and walking on it would damage the grass is the reason I was given. Youd think they would have thought about that when they made their supposed $2m in renovations and should have put a little walkway out to the range area. Also I showed up at around 7:30 when Google said theyd be open and they didnt release the chains until 8ish

Course is in good shape and seems to be well-maintained. Sometimes the sandtraps were a little hard, but that happens in many public courses. Didnt try the food. Saw the cart lady once. Only paid $59 with a cart on a Sunday afternoon through Golf Now.

Best classic town

Great condition and great pace of play. Best greens and fairways of any local public course in Northern Virginia.

Nice course, well kept greens, a lot less crowded on a sunday mid morning than i had expected. friendly starter, felt like a laid back atmosphere compared to some other courses. long walk between some holes on the front 9, but relatively flat at least. the holes are pretty straightforward, but missing the fairway was a bit punishing (deep bunkers, thick rough, well placed trees), so it kept it interesting.

Tried to make a t time during twilight. The club pro said he wont take reservations. So we went early to add our name to a wait list but was told he wouldnt start a list. Seems there is no rules or policy. The pro can do whatever he wanted.

This place is a good, local course. I havent stopped for food, but Ive heard of people making this their lunch break. Driving range and a dog. The pro shop has a friendly staff and the essentials you need to get you on the course. They only provide regripping services in terms of repair needs. Mid-week is definitely the time to come for a relaxing round of golf.

We actually just went to the breakfast place here and LOVED it. Some really interesting choices on the menu!

The only round of golf I have actually not finished for a reason other than weather. Pace of play was slow (5-10min wait at each tee box), but this is not a big deal - we are relaxed golfers and understand the difficulties that come with managing golf schedules. What we could not forgive was the horrible staff. We had a Range Master harass us at each hole, saying we were holding up play. We told him that we were waiting at each tee box and that without hitting into the group ahead our hands were tied. He harassed us at a Par 3 when the other group had just vacated the green, they were still visible and not even on the next tee box yet. This range master seemed to hone in our one female player, but with no good reason. The final straw was when he got into one of our carts as we teed off and moved it forward a whole 5 feet, to speed it up. I have never encountered hostility like that on a course. We also took no practice swings and played best ball the entire round. Not sure how you can be holding up play when you have to wait on each shot due to course crowding. Course maintenance was mediocre....lots of ground wasps on the greens which made putting difficult, could not locate a beverage cart. I would not play here again even if the cost was 1/2 the price.

I really like this course. The greens are fast & true, the course is not long, but the length is good. Play does not seem to slow when busy, which is always good.

Fairly maintained course but outrageously overpriced for the antagonizing, unscrupulous attitude of the range master. Seems they’re notorious for overbooking and have resorted to “managing” the situation by scapegoating those unwilling to tee off while others finishing on green of par 3s. In addition to a completely MIA beverage cart and decrepit pro shop, the staff goes far beyond unfriendly and are downright hostile.If you’re looking to be harassed unfairly and want an overcrowded, uncomfortable golf experience, play this course! We, on the other hand, left early and will not be returning.

I have played this course for 25 years plus, usually fair and decent course but not anymore. it seems that the groundskeeper or the head pro got nasty or trying to save bucks by NOT MOWING the areas of semi rough or even around the greens, You might end up not be able to find balls even thoe you might be a bit off, the rough was so deep and almost impossible to find or even get it out. NO FUN or FAIR....bring four sleeves of balls if you want to play there !!

Very walkable. Course is in pretty good shape considering all the golfers it attracts. Course is not difficult but alot of the bunkers are strategically placed.

Superintendent does a great job

The course is decent for a municipal golf course, but it gets extremely crowded and pace of play is a problem. Not crazy about the management either, paid for 18, went into the pro shop at the turn to get a rain check for the remaining nine because things were moving along so slow and was told we only give rain checks if its raining.

The place is Minty! And in great condition. Course needs another sign or two in places pointing you in the right direction on certain holes, but its a very enjoyable experience and a Nice friendly staff tops it off.

Easy course

Looks great and as a Herndon resident, hasnt been in this good of shape in a while.

Played four holes, fairways were great, greens rolled well, however the staff allowed me to play as a single with a league going on that evening. I played four holes and couldnt finish the front nine before dark because of how congested the course was. Just found this was a little ridiculous becaus

Short and flat and not much to it. Would be easy except for the domed greens set at a weird angle. You can three-putt from just about anywhere. Also, hackers abound and balls fly all over the place and you have to watch out.
