Runnymede is an excellent local park that links up to the extensive Sugarland Run trail system. Theres a lot of free parking and the trails are mostly well kept up. There are a lot of dirt trails but the park does a good job of keeping overgrowth off of them. Miles and miles of trails and beautiful sights will greet you everywhere you look. If you live in Herndon or Reston and have been looking for a local place where you can go hiking and exploring for hours, this is your park.

The picnic tables are nice for a COVID breakfast outing. Far from people, not crowded. The trails are not paved, so if its wet, they get muddy. Lots of water near the trails, so it puddles up in the trail. Cant wait to go back with either get dirty shoes or a dry day.

Our family (two young kids) had fun adventuring here. The absent 5th star is simply due to the brevity if the trails. Part of that may have been impacted by the sewer pipe being laid which added an unpleasant aroma and overlaid/blocked some paths. Regardless, the rest of what we explored was fun.

I love Runnymede Park. Ive been going there for years. Its a nice combination of paved and trails. I go running there, and you can go for miles with all the trails that connect to the park. Really beautiful. I have two new puppies, and theyre learning to live it too!

Small park with several trails that are adjacent to Sugarland Run. There is a covered picnic area off of the Herndon Parkway with a butterfly garden and some small grassy spots. Great park for a short walk to see beautiful nature or to walk the dog.

This place features nature walking trails and a stream. You can explore all of the trails in about an hour. The woods are kind of dense all around you and some of the trails are narrower than others. This trail doesnt seem to be regularly maintained and sometimes there are downed trees crossing over the paths. This park offers placards featuring info on some of the insects and plants you may see while there. And there is a small flower garden you can walk through. There is also a water fountain for people and one that is at drinking height for a dog. There is a part of the park which has picnic benches under a pavillion. At the edge of one of the parks trails there is a public swimming pool, a playground, a basketball court and tennis courts but I dont know if theyre associated with Runnymede Park or not. There is also another trail system connected to another edge of the park where people can ride bikes and walk or run, but riding your bike through Runnymede to get there isnt advisable as Runnymede can be extra soggy, tree obstructed, and rocky in places. You will have good cell phone service while youre here.

Cool woodsy trails with oodles of nature, rocks to leap on, and a small stream to hop across...I would say these teeny trails are more for walkers than for runners, though it does have a close connection to the Sugarland Run road trails! Havent taken my pooch here yet, but seems pretty pup-friendly!

It has nice trails for walking and jogging. They are only partially paved and because they are close to the stream, can get muddy and swampy.

Enjoyed our walk around the park, with the many trails and bridges and rocks and creek views and geocaches. Trails varied widely: regular paved, wide dirt, wide paved, crushed something, narrow windy dirt, open meadow. Really needs another east-west creek crossing or two. All the way around takes a long time. Very thankful today for the maps, directional trail signs, water fountain, and - most of all - the doggie water fountain.

I used to play here when I was a kid before it was a park. My mom organized a protest with the neighborhood kids holding up homemade signs at the city council meeting when they were starting construction on Herndon Parkway. I live far away now, but Im glad this park still exists. It is a magical place!
