We met our son and his family here, but we arrived a good 45 min. before they arrived. The somelier who poured our tasting flights was super friendly and also uber knowledgeable of all the wines and soil types of Mauritsons different varietals wines. Our friendly wine guide told us Mauritson owned 9 different tracts of land where they have their vineyards. Each type of soil favors a certain type of wine grape. He immersed me in the whole wine-making process-more info than I could even digest. He also wasnt shy about loading our glasses during the tastings. We bought a couple bottles of Zinfandel here, ones that pleased our palettes most-but we liked all the Mauritson wines.By the time my son & his family arrived, we were feelin pretty good! We then watched the grand kids, while my son & his wife did their tastings. Our young grandsons raced around the huge grass lawn out in front of the Mauritson Tasting Room Building. Great wines, and super friendly folks behind the counter. My wife and I loved this place, as did my son & his wife.
Exceptional wine and a great tasting experience.
We just got back from a weekend in Napa/Sonoma and Mauritson Winery was one of my favorite tastings. Everything from the booking experience with Leigh to the wine tasting with Angelina was perfect. The setting is gorgeous and the story of Clay and the family is interesting. It was my graduation weekend but my ceremony was cancelled because of Covid-19. I had told this to Leigh when booking and she had obviously made some notes because there was a personalized tasting menu - a cute keepsake in itself and they also had a gift bag for me!The picnic bag of cheese/crackers/fruit/nuts was such a cute touch too and different from anywhere else we went to. They really went above and beyond. I’m enjoying my bottle of Rockpile Zin as I write this and I can’t wait to visit again. Thank you!
We went to visit this winery on Saturday, Oh my, what an experience! Huge kudos, hugs and kisses to BRIAN, what a fun, knowledgeable guy, you rock...Love, the Aussie Sheila:) All jokes aside, their wines are fabulous, we walked away with a bunch. Thanks for introducing us to some wonderful wines and fun times with Brian:) We will definitely be back.....
Wine was very nice. Tom was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Such a wonderful experience!
THE place if you want Rockpile wines. Excellent variety, didnt taste a bad wine in the bunch. Tom met with us when we walked in with great wines, conversation and an impromptu tour of the property. Excellent job!
If youre lucky enough to talk with Rick, he only works a few days a week, you will learn more about dry creek and rock pile wine than you ever thought possible. Totally reccomend as the last stop on your dry creek tour, because it makes all others look bad.
We had our Rehearsal Dinner at Mauritson Winery --- what a fabulous experience! Carrie and the entire staff were such a pleasure to work with. They made recommendations, styled the event space, and were extremely accommodating. We asked them to string extra bistro lights in the barrel room and to move a lot of barrels around to create intimate spaces - everything was done perfectly! Truly, this was the most enjoyable and easiest part of wedding planning and I highly recommend thinking about Mauritson Winery for you private events...plus the wine is superb and reasonably priced!
Fan of their reds and all things Dry Creek. While I wasnt particularly a fan of their barrel samples during Barrel Tasting Weekend, I absolutely love their reserve tier. Nicely balanced with smooth tannins and great finishes. Need to stop by soon as I have finished my last bottle!
Best ever. World-class Sauvignon Blanc, brilliant Rockpile Zins.
Love the rock pile zin. Tasting in the library is the best.
Best Zins in wine country! Awesome family winery.
Great wine and staff. I recommend stopping in for a tasting!
Excellent. Whites and reds, beautiful setting, great staff! Dont miss this winery!
Beautiful wines & knowledgeable tasting staff who took the time to share the heritage & culture of the family and wines. Such a pleasure.
Best place in Napa, the peeps there love what they do. The owner has such passion and it is noticeable ( after what I can assume) even if he has to say the same thing a dozen times a day for x amount of years. I would be tired after a few days of saying the same thing over and over
Mauritson makes some of the best balanced, elegant and expressive wines in Sonoma county. Leigh Behrens graciously shared her deep knowledge of the Mauritson family history, farming practices and led me through an expert tasting of Chardonnay, single vineyard Zinfandels and an outstanding Bordeaux blend. I will come back again to try the subsoil wine series tasting on another day. ️
Love this place. Great family. Great wine.
These are fine folks making excellent wines at good prices. The tasting room staff are always well trained and friendly. Their wine club is very good and they have many fun events throughout the year. If you are Zin in particular then this will be a favorite place, trust me! This family are looooong time residents and they put all kinds of time and money back into their community. This one of only three folks that produce a wonderful Sauvigon Blanc that I buy regularly even as its creation has evolved over the years it has always held and appeal and satisfied my need for lovely white wines, particularly from Dry Creek Valley.
The staff was great! But the $20 tasting is overrated. The port was the only decent wine.
Great friendly team excited to share their wines. The wines are outstanding!
Our wine tasting experience was wonderful! The woman pouring the wine was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, the wine, and the history of the winery.
Sadly, I can only say this place was ok. We just visited there this past Saturday. It was the end of the day and maybe thats why the guy serving us just seemed distracted. But he wasnt overly friendly or informative. We tasted some wines and did find one we liked. So we decided to buy it. But what we werent told was how much it was... shame on us for not asking, but also to him for not even telling us before handing us the ipad to sign for the wine. $95?! What!? It surely wasnt a $95 bottle of wine. And when we returned home and I looked it up, Im seeing its stated to be a $50+ bottle. I sure feel we got jipped! :(
Nick took great care of us while we were there, ask for him if hes there. Excellent wines at a good value, across many varieties.
Their reserve tasting in the cellar is worth it. The Loam Suther is a keeper. Great experience!
Great wines and staff. A little bit disappointed that we were not able to taste the sauvignon blanc.
Exceptional zins from Rockpile
