Stayed here for about 5 days. The campground is nice and generally clean. Bathhouses left a bit to be desired but not terrible. Same with laundry. Spaces are a bit tight with hookups positioned well into the neighbors space.Enjoyed the cave tours. Each cave is unique as are the tours. Definitely worth doing both.

Just the best place. The cave tour is about 1 hour. Takes you through the adventures of Tom Sawyer. Easy to walk through. Very exciting to see the names of celebrities. My 7 year old child loved it. I’ve been here 2 times so far loved each time. The town of Hannibal, MI is lovely sleepy setting. Staff at cave is very knowledgeable and friendly.

Really fun experience! Did both the Mark Twain and Cameron caves and both offered complementary experiences. Mark Twain Cave is well-lit and is accompanied with tour guide narration detailing the history of the cave. Cameron Cave, on the other hand, is a flashlight-only experience and the tour guide goes more into detail about the geology of the cave rather than its history. Altogether, I recommend doing both if you can. If pressed for time and with kids, do the Mark Twain Cave.I should also mention they arent doing much in the way of COVID-19 precautions, so avoid if you dont feel comfortable in tight spaces with people not wearing masks.

So impressed! I had been here many times as a kid and today brought my kid. Hes only 3 so loud and squirmy. We got here for the first tour so we wouldnt bother people and happily we had a tour all to ourselves. The tour guides (Mike and Lou who was training) were great! I found some cheaper shirts in the gift shop (12 for toddler shirt, 14 for adult) so was super happy about that as well. Such a perfect stop to make memories! We will definitely come back when my little guy is reading Tom Sawyer books! Extra bonus, we spent time just outside the parking lot on a stream with rocks.

The Mark Twain cave tour was good. The website stated that Cameron Cave was closed after Labor day, however it was open Sept 19th.We only went to the Mark Twain Cave and this review is for that one.1. IF you want to hear the tour guide, do not be in the back. You could not hear hardly at all and I did bring it up when we got to the big room. However, the tour guide kept doing what he had before.2. There are tours every hour (top of the hour) so you cannot slow down to look at a lot.3. You will see the Clemens signature but you will not see Jesse James signature. They took a photo for you to see at the end of the tour.4. It does have slippery portions in the cave, the tour guide was good to point those out.5. It does have areas that are close, very close to walk through. I am 57 about 260lbs (no wide hips or chest) and made it through. No wheelchairs would be accessible through this.6. The cost for two people with tax for one cave is $43.007. This was a neat thing to do, however I would not call it a must do (I love caves)8. They take a picture of you at the beginning of the cave and allow you to purchase the end for $10.84

This is a great place to visit. There is a constant temperature of 52 degrees which is great on a summer day. Take time to plan your visit because there are two caves. One is more geared to Mark Twain lore and has modern electricity. The other is more geological and requires a longer walk and a flashlight which is provided.

Part 2 Continued...We meet an older lady sitting behind the glass and start to explain some of the experiences weve been having at the womens bathrooms. Not even a minute into our story, she interrupts us to ask are you the family that called last night? We say yes. She sighs heavily, rolls her eyes and says, I informed the owners of this matter this morning and was told the cleaners would come by today. We advised her the cleaners did not come today either. After hearing this she tries to assure us that she will notify the owners again and have the bathroom facilities cleaned. Ill believe it when I see it. Just one more day, just one more day I kept telling myself. Unfortunately I am not of the majority who sleep in their plush RVs with running water and private toilets so I have no choice but to use the public facilities. I would have better luck showering at a fitness center!Day#4: This is our last day and we do not leave the campground until after 11:30. At this point, we have already visited the bathroom twice and they are even worse. Paper towel pieces everywhere, soap piling up at each sink, a poop splattered toilet seat, an overflowing garbage can and not to mention the stench lurking in the air. The campground did not adhere to its promise of keeping a clean bathroom facility and I was very disappointed. I have worked as a house cleaner in commercial and domestic buildings. For a public facility to remain open 24 hours, 7 days a week it is vitally important for the toilets to be cleaned daily, not once but multiple times! Should I remind you that there is a so-called pandemic going around and cleanliness is a must? I find it disappointing for a family-owned business to accept money from customers who expect a service in returned. I did not get that service for the 4 days I was there. Very dissapointed!

What an experience! We toured the Mark Twain cave and learned a lot. Its a little on the pricey side, but worth it if you can afford it. Great camping spot! Had a mix of all camper types and tents. Had some pull through spots. The campground had shelters with tables, a small playground and very clean bathrooms with laundry and showers. We called ahead and said we would be arriving late and leaving early so they allowed us to pay over phone and do a clipboard check in on our own when we arrived at night. It was quiet at night, could very faintly here traffic and I think a maybe a slight train noise. We were in a tent and the ground was pretty flat with the dirt being soft enough to put our steaks in the ground. Each spot had a table and firepit. We chose an electric site but they had primitive sites for cheaper. We brought the dogs pictured below and felt very welcome with them, many other sites had dogs as well. Lots of grass space for them. Dumpsters were close so it was easy to dispose of all waste/trash.

We were here on vacation! We havent been here in over 15 years, so it was interesting to return as an adult. Things are definitely different from what they were before, but it was a super enriching experience and I recommend taking the family to this national landmark! Our tour guide was awesome, and she told us her name, and then she said the name if we felt it was a bad trip. The name for the bad review is Becky, but it was not bad at all! It was great and I cant remember her real name. She was clear and concise and peppered in little puns here and there. I hope other people have a great time! I will say it was rather overpriced, 43 dollars for two adults.

Review Part #1If I could give this campground 0 stars I would. My family and I stayed at Mark Twain Cave & Campground 2 weeks ago. I do not typically write negative reviews so I held this one off but I felt an urgency to type one out so that other prospective campers are aware of how this campground is poorly run.Day#1: When we arrive in the afternoon, us women needed to use the bathroom facilities. We find that the first bathroom stall was clogged, so we check the second stall to find poop splatters all over the toilet seat. This left us with one stall to use. That same day we visit in the evening to use the shower facilities. As my sister walks into the first shower stall, she screams. My mother and I were wondering what could possibly have startled her. I walk in to find that there was a 3 inch smear of blood next to the towel hook. My sister being younger and the site of that blood smear freaking her out, I told her Id use that shower so I took it upon myself to gather some soapy paper towels and clean the blood off the wall. Ok, so this was just the first day, and there was a sign on the outside door that read Bathrooms are closed 10am-11am daily we should be good, right? Nope.Day#2: My sister and I walk over to the restrooms at about 9:30am and understand that the bathrooms have not yet been cleaned since it was early. In addition to what we saw the day before we found that the toilet paper for another stall was laying on the dirty concrete floor. This isnt the toilet paper rolls you have in your home, these are the large commercial rolls used in most public restrooms. Now one would say, well just pick it up and use it. Uh, first of all, this toilet paper could have been sitting on the dirty cold concrete for hours but to use contaminated toilet paper on my lady parts would be pure stupidity. Im hoping, just hoping that once 10am rolls around, the bathrooms will be cleaned and there wont be any more surprises. After spending the day with my family outside of the campground it is now evening and its time to use the shower facilities. When we arrive we find that there are paper towel pieces all over the floors, the trash is 3/4 full, toilet #2 still has its poop splatters and the huge toilet paper roll is still laying on the floor. I guess the cleaners had the day off. Once we got back to our campsite, we inform my father of the experiences weve been having the womens facilities. He calls the campground office and left a detailed message of our experience so far.Day #3: Morning rolls around and I decide Im going to wait until after the bathrooms have been cleaned. Well my impatient self could not wait until after 11am so I go to the bathrooms at 10:30 and to my surprise they are open! What?! Could it be that the cleaning service finished early? Hmm, well there are still paper towel pieces strewn all across the concrete floors, toilet #2s seat remains just as poopy as the day we arrived, but wait, that large toilet paper roll was picked up and placed in its dispenser! But Im no fool and will not use that contaminated paper on my lady parts. I also could not help but notice the amount of soap piling up at all 3 sinks. Need I mention that liquid soap was placed in foam dispensers? This would explain why the soap has a difficult time dispensing. I am wondering when the paper towels will run out and of course the only garbage can in the entire womens bathroom/shower facility is almost full. At about 3 oclock my mother, sister and myself walk down to the campground office. To be continued..

This place was really cool. They have two caves that you can tour but only one is open year round. The Cameron Cave is closed in the winter months because they have bats that stay in the caves. The Mark Twain Cave that we did get to see was very cool though. We had a tour group of about 15 people and the guide was very informative and funny! You could tell she really loved her job and enjoyed sharing the area with others. They allow you to take as many photos are you want just as long as you keep up with the group. We also had sometime to go check out the winery across the road before our tour and they do 3 tastings for free and then it is an additional $5 for every 3 after that. All the different wines I tasted where fantastic and we even bought a bottle to take home. We have already decided that we are taking my kids back in the summer to do both the tours with them.

Really enjoyed our visit today! We took both cave tours. Excellent guides with lots of information. Great gift shop, too, with some really unique gifts!Beware: these caves have been infected with the white nose fungus that kills bats, so if you plan to visit caves that are clean of infection in other parts of the country, take a photo of yourself and what gear youre wearing (backpack, camera, hat, jacket, etc). The spores travel on fabric, so camera straps and backpacks can carry the infection to other places even years later. There is no cure, and even washing with disinfectant has limited success in cleansing the spores (from what we were told at other national parks which are guarding against infection).

Nice camp ground. Stayed 1 night. Lots were pretty level and large, we had full hook up and our neighbors were nice. Due to this being Covid year we did not go to gift shop or do the caves. Which we really would have loved to do the caves. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that the wifi was mostly nonexistent. When we arrived there was not a lot of campers there yet and there was still not much wifi. I couldnt even do wifi calling. And we had no cell service with our carrier(T -Mobile). I think they had shower houses but not for sure due to having our camper we didnt need to use one. The town of Hannibal is a very nice town there is a light house, the Mississippi River, Lovers Leap and other things to do while you are there. Almost forgot the campfire rings where big half spheres about 4 foot diameter and too deep. Some had holes in the sides of them to let air into the fire, ours did not. It was a little chili out and we had a fire and you couldnt get any heat what so ever from it. There were also just PBS TV channels available .This is were the wifi would have came in handy and the mosquitos were bad.
