Amazing views. There is a building but it is boarded up. There are super friendly chipmunks, golden mantle ground squirrels, and chickory squirrels. They will eat out of your hand so bring sunflower seeds or something to feed them.

This is definitely a must stop if youre in the area. One of the best views I have seen. If you go fall thru spring, bring multiple layers! It was quite windy and chilly the day we went.I would love to visit in the summer and spend hours at the overlook.

Great place to look over the entire grand valley. Fairly easy to get to and man what a view!!!! Fun to drive down to town on lands end road, and the chipmunks love sunflower seeds. Remember to bring some, youll enjoy it.

Great overlook of Grand Junction at the top of one of the “fingers” of the Grand Mesa. 12 miles of flat-ish dirt road to get there of of the main road over the mess. Motorcycle friendly if you don’t mind dirt. Awesome views and easy, short, scenic hiking. Take sunflower seeds to feed the chipmunks. Windy at the overlook. Bring a windbreaker.

Simply a wonderful place to visit. Its like standing on the edge of the earth - below is s steep drop of 000s of feet from the top of what Colorado claims to be the tallest large mesa in the world. Its entirely worth the 32 mile round trip drive on unpaved road. The entry is off of CO65 but its sign posted well only when you approach it from the North.

This is a cant miss spot on the Grand Mesa. Views for miles and the wild life are so cute. Remember to bring sunflour seeds, and share them with the wild life. It rained on Satuerday, and there were pools of water in the rocks. The chipmunks were drinking out of them. I would love to to share these pictures with you all.

Amazing view of the grand valley! You can take the nice slow road up from ok m I 70 or you can take your life in your hands coming up the front side. Both are great views, but if your driving up the front dont expect to look around. You have to keep your eyes inroad at all times, or you might not live to tell, but your passengers will have a great view! Go in the summer though. The side gets closed in winter, and I wouldnt chance the front. Bring some seeds for the chipmunks too. Youll get amazing pictures of the little guys.

Lands End Observatory was beautiful! There are 2 reasons why I didnt give it 5 stars, the first one is the pictures of the surrounding views are weathered and should be replaced. The second reason is the tourists were feeding the chipmunks. The forest service should have signs not to feed the wildlife. The animals become dependent on humans feeding them and dont forage for themselves!

Best birthday ever, the squirrels eat right out of our hands. Lots of room, even though there were many people visiting. The view is amazing, literally on the edge of the cliff! Public restroom. Looks like there is camping nearby, but I dont know what kind of permit you need to stay overnight. Its a long drive of switchbacks from the Montrose-Grand Junction highway, but accessible by street vehicles. From the visitor center to the east, I used 4x4, but just for fun, not out of necessity. Street vehicles might have trouble in the mud when it rains.

Th
Review №83

The drive to this place is almost as excellent as the place itself. From here you have a first class view overlooking the Grand Valley far below. Years of feeding by visitors have encouraged lots of tame chipmunks to trade their fuzzy cuteness for birdseed or nuts. Lands End road winds its way up the Mesa and reaches the top here. Absolutely spectacular drive during the fall colors. A high ground clearance vehicle or 4WD is not necessary. The road is really well maintained.

Definitely worth a side trip if youre driving along the Grand Mesa Scenic Byway.I cant imagine any photos giving you the real scope and grandeur of this view. The breadth, depth, layers, and distances from this point defy photography but will live on in my mind as a cherished memory. The road to the view is hard-packed, small gravel with a few pot holes but is overall very well maintained. We were concerned at first since there was snow over parts of the road and the mesa, but it was really no problem. If I ever go back that way Ill definitely make the trip again.
