Harms Woods is one forest preserve in a chain of forest preserves. You can bike or walk to the Botanical Gardens from here. It can get crowded on sunny days. The non concrete paths are usually less frequented. You can catch sight of deer and other wildlife.

Awesome trail. It’s been the best thing to reconnect to nature and get some time away from stress. Good trail and gives you a good 20+ miles of bike riding, walking trail. Kid friendly except there are some fast riders so you should practice bike riding with children before getting on the trail.

A great escape from the city. Plenty of biking and hiking trails. On my recent trip I enjoy a walk along a path through the woods. While it is wide and nicely paved, it was nice to get away from the roadside path and feel more immersed in nature.

Harms Woods is a nice place to host a get together, get a workout, or just enjoy nature and get some good oxygen from all the trees. Most get togethers are on the weekends and its usually familys enjoying each others company or its people playing sports games on the large field. I personally use the woods to bike ride or rollerblade. Great place to ride trails and get a bunch of fresh oxygen into your body. Awesome place, I love it.

I go here often because I enjoy the variety. You can walk, jog or bicycle along the river. It is often heavily used including horseback Riders. It is truly a treasure that Cook County has so many forest preserves that are well-maintained. People vote with their feet by showing how much they enjoy being able to be outdoors.

Was here for a softball game in August and apparently they (local PD) kick people out when it starts to get dark. Understandable, I suppose. Also, if you’re playing as part of a league you need a permit. Not sure how much those cost, but my company’s soft ball league somehow managed to play here without one for the last 12 years without one until our last game. That was also one of the reasons noted when my group of ~40 was asked to leave. Nice little nook in the suburbs overall though.

With the north branch trail running through it, its a great spot to relax and hang out or get on the trail. It also has a reservable picnic grove that holds up to 300 people. Plenty of parking and public bathrooms are available. Its also down the street from the mall so food and drink options are close. They also have bike tracks to lock up your bike.

The best part is the bike path - fantastic bike path. Woods are cool, and some big open fields here as well. Not a ton of hiking paths - the bike path is nominally shared, but theres enough bike traffic to make it not ideal for walking. Some beautiful scenery if you go off into the woods a little bit (although my son and I learned the hard way today - there is at least one log filled with yellow jackets).
