Halloween at Great skate is amazing! If you havent been, you should go. Even if you dont know how to skate, grab one of those walkers and get out there and roll. Bring your own socks to save three bucks.
Let me start by saying thank you Great Skate for allowing my son to celebrate his 10th birthday there with you all. I have NEVER felt so relaxed at a birthday ran by staff at a location. Justin was simply amazing ! He had such a positive attitude throughout the party. I ran him back and forth quite a few times and with every time I’ve asked he did it with a smile (under his mask of course) :) the manager I do apologize but I have forgetting his name but a super friendly person and another person with a positive attitude. Overall my experience with Great Skate with truly amazing. Thank you so much again for making his birthday party a success. I look forward to coming back with my family very soon.
Great music, good people! We had a blast during Adult Night, its Thursdays from 8:30pm - 11:30pm. They had a virtual DJ. The only thing I would change is the floor needs to be repaired a little. There were marks that almost caused me to fall, but theyre not horribly bad.
Had a great time for my daughter’s birthday party. The pizza and wings were great. Our host was fantastic and on it. I would definitely recommend this place birthday or not always family oriented and kid friendly.
I had a great time. I took the Saturday morning skating class for $8 which included the skate rental and the 10:30 to 12:30 session. Had a great time. That was $8 well spent
My daughter and I love to skate! This rink is inexpensive and old school. It could probably use a facelift but we enjoy it none the less. The rink is in pretty good condition and super fun to skate on.
I recently had my sons 8th birthday party at great skate my kids and friends enjoyed every moment of it!!! I truly recommend planning parties, a day out with the family and adult night at great skate it’s so much fun!! Cheryl helped me schedule my party and was very helpful and friendly i had so much fun that we returned a couple days later with the family thx for the passes after the party!!! You are truly amazing
We recently visited this location for my nephews partyJustin and Tatyana were awesome so attentive and sweet, the whole crew made my nephews birthday perfect thank you guys and we will be back soon .
Its a nice family venue. Could use some updates but, good wholesome fun.
I’ve been coming here for years with my little one because he usually enjoys it . However, it seems to be under new management. It’s too pricey. They are now charging parents to sit and supervise their children which is ridiculous . Lack of employees to assist with things and the employees that do work are unprofessional.
We had the absolute BEST time at great skate last night. It was so wonderful to spend time with my family on the skating rink again. Great Skate has done absolutely amazing at ensuring the health and safety of their staff and guests. They have gone above and beyond to make sure the facility is sanitized to prevent the spread of COVID19.I look forward to many more weekends of getting the family in the rink to skate and have a great time. THANK YOU for opening your doors back up to the community. We need places like Great Skate to stay in business!
We absolutely LOVE Great Skate!! It’s wholesome entertainment that is also healthy! We’ve had nothing but great luck with wonderful staff!! It’s always a great time, they’ve also handled COVID-19 related concerns very, very well!
I’ve gotta be honest. Haven’t been here in 10 years. But when I did go in middle school and high school, this place was the bomb diggity.
This place was amazing. Due to the quarantine my family hasnt been able to go out with a baby, young kids, and an elderly grandma. I rented a time slot of an hour and a half for my nieces birthday party. It was completely empty with the exception of our family of 20. The place was clean and sanitized. We had great service. We had constant attention without over stepping. We got our temperature read at the door and sanitizer jugs in many places. I would definitely rent another slot soon!
We have came to this Glendale location a handful of times. The first time we came, the front desk associate said that I could wear shoes and walk with my toddler while he skated and I let her know he wears one skate and one shoe (he’s not comfortable with two skates yet) and she said that was ok. We have came 5-6 time where he was skating with one skate and one shoe. Today we come and the general manager kicked him off the rink and said he has to wear two skates. I don’t know why everyone is not consistent with rules and regulations as he has been able to do it so many time before. So today he has to sit and watch my two oldest skate! So upsetting for the both of us! Great way to start fall break.
I mean. Its great skate. Nothings changed in 30 years. Litterally. Nothing.Where the heck are they sourcing those light bulbs after all this time? Five stars for that. But hey its 2020. Time to step up the lightshow.
I’ve had some fun birthday parties here. I liked every experience.
It is sad that this is the only game in town (well at least the West valley) and the facilities are so bad. The tables are old and worn. The carpet is dingy, stained, and gum laden. Also, the owners chose the carpet squares which makes it really hard to roll over especially if you are new to skating. Many of the arcade games are out of order, about a quarter of the game do not work (note picture). The worst Id the floor. I visited Great Skate for the first time in 2017 and I thought the floor was rough. Fast forward 2019 and it is even worse. In the pictures the shiny spots are the floor patches and you can feel all of them when you skate over. The employees are very pleasant and helpful. The food is surprisingly good.I want to be clear, I like this place BUT I want the owners/corporate to fix these things.
There’s one “DJ” there that is terrible with the choice of music when it comes to actually putting jams to skate to. Was disappointed.
Was fantastic yesterday! We had our daughters 13th birthday party with basically no one else there.... Social distancing was mandatory and awesome. Felt extremely safe
Good clean fun! Floor needs buffing n waxing though!
Great family fun. Covid 19 friendly must wear a mask the whole time, unless eating or drinking in the every other table area. I was super excited to take the family out on a friday night. It helped us feel some what back to a normal schedule. Kids had fun and it was great to dust off the old skates. I was one of the ones who fell, and I realized I dont bounce back up as fast lol.I was super pleased with the security at the front door checking bags and everyone that came in. It provided a peice of mind I am in a safe place. I would like to recommend a song for backwards skating only. But you can do that in the middle of the floor so no worries. Will definitely make this a weekly family thing for sure. Thank you and keep up all your hard work
A little getto but its a nice place to skate in either rollerskating or rollerblades
My review of Great Skate is five (5) stars. The staff was friendly and attentive. The space was adequate and the skate floor was large and open. There was plenty of room for all skaters. The DJ was awesome and played and array of age appropriate music. The atmosphere was great. The kids looked happy and skated with Glee.
We had a private party for 90 minutes where we rented the entire rink. The pricing was very reasonable for a group of 15 people. The manager JD went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. They perform deep cleaning between each sessions and take great caution in providing a fun and clean experience.
We had a great time here! Wed definitely recommend it. Theres quite a bit of youth that come through here on weekends. Fair prices & good for families.
It is a good date place and honestly is fun admittedly I dont know how to skate but it was really fun experience learning.
The kids working here are great. Kids get lots of exercise and have lots of fun.
Wnet many times, really good place to have fun, and learn how to skate.
I have been going there for the last 3 months because it felt safety came first. Yesterday, a Saturday, it was overly full, no way to maintain a safe distance from people and alot of the people without masks. I did leave and hour early before the seccion ended, wish I would have left sooner. This is just an FYI, I wish i knew this before getting my child excited about going there.
This place used to be great when I was a kid but now the floor is worn down and too hard to skate on. I kept tripping over rough patches the last time I went. I understand it has that old “Great Skate” charm and I love how they kept everything the same, but it needs a renovation. If they were to put in wood floors, I’d be here nearly everyday.
Grew up going here..this place is the same, good family fun. Still enjoyable.
Three grand kids llove it there. My adolescents lived at Rollero. That was the place they went. They missed it....
My daughter went to a birthday party Sunday during Covid you are not requiring people to wear a wrist guards so they’re not gonna break the wrist when they fall during Covid how stupid are you guys for doing this race card should be mandatory I hope you guys gets the pant suit off you
Had an awesome time! Ive been waiting for the rink to reopen after our shutdown and was finally able to skate last night - yay! I havent been on wheels for over 20 yrs... The line was easy and very organized, everyone was super friendly and the staff was so helpful. I was greeted by a floor manager and getting skates was simple and there seemed always to be someone available if you had a question. The crowd was families and all levels of skaters as it was an Open/Family Session. The rink was cean, including the bathrooms I recommend it!
Called twice to see how it was working with the COVID.... no answer either time. I still decided to take the chance and show up, and they tell me that they are sold out. “At capacity” yet there are people walking out and leaving as they tell me this. Poor customer service.
Looks aged and need of maintenance. Need more variety of music!!
We rented Great Skate a few weeks ago and my kids loved having the place all to themselves! Everything was perfect, the lady helping us even searched forever for a jojo siwa song for my daughter. Plus seeing them sanitize constantly gave us such peace of mind!
Honestly I love great skate! I go a lot and I know a few people there now! Haha if you love roller skating, this is the place to go with friends and family! Me and my best friend feet hurt like crazy since we barely took breaks, but totally worth it! Also teaching her how to keep her balance! Its easy once you get the hang of it!
The kids had fun, specially my 14 year old. The place is worn though, and it stinks like feet bad. The arcade games were really worn also and half of them were broken. If you plan on coming in bring your own skates and wrist guards if possible. They do have promotions once in a while so look out for those. I found kids skate free on FB events.
We recently had a private event for our family to get out and have some fun in the midst of all the craziness that is happening in the world right now. The facility was clean and they took precautions to make sure that we felt comfortable. The employees wore masks, sanitized and also did temperature checks at the door which had us reassured that they are taking into consideration what is happening (covid) with people health right now. They really gavemgave family and I a great experience. We definitely needed it, it was so fun and we will be coming back in the future.
Well staffed, clean and friendly Sunday afternoon session.
Honestly love the floor and the employees are very nice
Takes no less than 30 minutes to get in the door and if you need to rent skates, you will spend the first hour there in line guaranteed. You go from one outrageous line directly into a second one to get skates. I imagine they close intermittently throughout the day to prepare for the next rush. Yet, It seems to me, if they just remained open there would be no need to close & prepare for the all-@-once rush!?! Anyways, Im sure its great if ya ever get to skate!
Having a birthday party here was on point!. They engage the birthday kid and thier friends, the hostesses help to keep everything on a time schedule and are super flexible. I loved that you could buy some of toys and light stuff for the kids who werent interested in winning tickets. They did such a great job of including and accommodating everyone there. The games run out of tickets fast but how many parents really want those fair type toys at home anyway!! It was super fun.
This is where I first learned how to skate it has good food and it also is affordable for the family
There had to be near 200 kids . It was so incredibly crowded 2 out of 3 of my kids didnt want to skate. I gave each of my 3 kids $10 in tokens and every machine or game that they tried didnt work and stole there tokens except one machine. Too crazy busy to ask for coins back. Maybe it would be a better experience for everyone if you limited how many school buses of children or summer camps you allow on any given day. The staff were great but so overwhelmed.
Terrible i used to love this place as a kid so im a blame it on Covid-19
It was fun to skate at nice people.
If you take three kids and and two adults for two and a half hours (open times on a Sunday during the day), you are looking at a $100 before you walk through the door. It is not an affordable day to try and take your kids out of the house and have them experience the joy of skating like when you were a kid. $7 alone for a Skate Mate is flat out ridiculous pricing! The time vs money spent is astounding in the fact that it is not worth it. No managers on the floor, but they did finally show up when my daughter fell and showed up with ice. The line to get in was out to the street. Either staff properly, give a discount, or extend skating hours. If you are only giving 2 1/2 hour skate times, you want your business to run as efficiently as possible to benefit your customers. Staff was friendly, hence at least 2 stars. Not worth your time or money. I honestly dont think well be back.
Huge thanks to you and your staff for keeping us in a safe clean Adult skate night environment during this pandemic and the floor felt amazing, I really enjoyed being back in the rink and I look forward to what comes next!!!
I’ve always loved skating here. My only complaint happened 1/11/2020.My wife and I paid $64 for admission (for us and the kids + a few skate rentals). When we entered, I specifically asked if there were any coupons or discounts available at that time. I was told “no, sorry”.Upon completing the Saturday skate session, guests were greeted by staff handing out discounted ticket flyers for $2.50 admission or something to that amount for THAT WEEKEND (1/10 - 1/12). Would have been great to save some money before hand!
Brings back the kid in me! Love great skate
Unprofessional, rude employees, dirty, damaged skates and floors. Not safe!!! Above all they don’t care! They don’t care about the customer experience at all. Needs a new manager, last night the air conditioning was turned OFF the entire time. No AC all night. The manager literally said, “I don’t know when it will get turned on.” She should have said, it won’t and offered our money back. You are the manager but you were the most unprofessional! Get this place cleaned up. Fire some rude employees because last night not one person knew what customer service is!
I wasnt really impressed. We brought our own roller blades so it it was only $10 for us to get in but there were cones blocking off one corner of the rink which made it hard to get around slow people and kids that dont know how to skate. They apparently have made the rink smaller as well. I would give 2 stars but because it got us out of the house and gave us something to do and it was cheap, I decided to give another star. It really sucks that places like this are so run-down. Well be back for adult night one night.
It was great the last time I wore skates was in 1979 I did great and loved it
I had a blast there but I was kicked off for backwards skating I am on the minor assaults roller derby team and I know how to safely skate backwards without hurting anyone I tried to explain this to a employee and the man was super rude and skated away when I was talking to him and I know he heard me to get a tiny spinner there it was like 75 tickets me and my cousin got super mad when the machine took are tickets and showed less then we counted we were very careful and counted twice besides for that it was awesome! Also it was seven dollars to get a walker all my cousins can’t skate and it’s hard to teach most of them cause they get scared we tried to get a walker but seven dollars seems like very little but it’s a lot for parents who want to help their kids learn how to skate! Please make it lower or just make it free you have a lot of them!!!
Ive taken my 5th graders to Great Skate two years in a row, and they love it! The lesson is engaging and fun. Many have never roller skated before so its quite an experience.
This has by far not been a good experience. My niece birthday part was reserved ahead of time, and we get there everything was smooth. We get to the table with her name on it mind you, when another person had an issue with us sitting by them. Mind you they did not have a party reserved, the hostess suggested we move to a table that didnt have decorations, and proceeded to remove my neices party things. She did not, come back to check on how we were doing, or for refills. The manager however came out to help us out. The hostess continues to count and recount the number in our party, as if it tripled in minutes. She removed all wristband from the adults, and keep returning repeating she need to take the bracelets from adults. No other adults have them, she keeps repeating how she fixed the bill for us, but no you fixed it for yourself because you made the mistake. Needless to say we will never have another birthday party here!
This place is old. Like moth balls in granny’s closet old. It smells like feet. The tables are about as sticky as Denny’s. They have 7 arcade games in a musty corner and only half of them worked. Needs serious renovation. The newest items are the security cameras. Just like the lights above the rink, disco ball and wall art; this should have been left back in the 70s.
To much problems..armed security working premises
My daughter requested her 7th birthday party to be celebrated there. I know it is an older facility, but none of that really mattered to her and her guests. I can tell you, the staff there was amazing, and treated us very well for her birthday. We spent some $$, but it was worth it when my daughter blew out her candles and cried cause she was so happy. That moment was priceless. Jesus, Justin and the DJ accommodated all of our needs during the party, and well were pretty amazing actually. They made my daughter feel special. My daughter and all her friends were really happy, thats all that really matters!
The kids enjoyed themselves
They offer Great classes for any stage skaters
So much fun for the whole family
Lots of fun! Always a great time!! I come all the time!
I love Great Skate! I do believe that it could be a little cleaner, but that doesnt make me go there any less often! The staff is very kind and helpful.
Been a minute but had a great time!
Ya know, I love coming here but the place needs serious renovations. The inside of this place looks like it probably did when the Metro area of Phoenix used to be the place to be in Arizona. The rink itself needs to be resurfaced. Lots of Knicks and bumps in the rink when skating around. Outside the rink the carpeting is super old, or just beat up pretty bad and smells up a bit. There are tons of areas in the place where it doesnt look like anyone has attempted any deep cleaning in a very long time. Honestly, they could really just use a bigger space and more room for more skaters. The few times Ive been there I feel like my kids and I are always weaving in and out of traffic with other skaters due to how small the rink is.Still fun and lots of nostalgia to the joint but there are some things that keep me from going there regularly with my kids (outside their school outings).
Had a great time with the kids
Had a great time having my sons birthday party here.
This rink is over the top when it comes to safety. We arrived and noticed that there were signs requiring that everyone wear wrist guards and that you sign a waiver, but we continued through until we paid and were through the door. Once through the door, there were armed guards searching your bags and your person. We found this extremely invasive of our privacy. We came to the rink to skate and have fun, and did not appreciate being searched. We left immediately. We will say that the lady at the front was very nice and refunded our money immediately after hearing our reason.
Call ahead to check on the number of children before going. And Cheryl has addressed my problem, Thank you Cheryl for your time and great above and beyond skills. I will be back in about a month to skate. Wonderful Employees!!!
First time here, I would not recommend this place, 1st of all they tell you not to skate without insurance, make you sign a waiver, and then force you to wear used stinky wrist guards, that come out of a barrel, hygiene issues? Also my rentals were horrible, Im a better than average skater, these rentals were pulling to the right. Plus no backwards skating? You pay to skate until 10:30, but they stop skating at 10:15, Never coming back
That fight and the police thing about a year ago was wrong, and idk if it was the lateness of the hour that made people make bad decisions, but it was horrible, fighting, pepper spray, tasing a kid, someone went to the hospital. While it was fun while it lasted, the line to the food was super long and we gave up after about 15 mins of waiting. Don’t think I’d go back anytime soon.
Love skating. Adult night is the best. Time they get better skates. They have alot of wear
Once gave this place a five star review, however, today they stated both my wife and I would need to pay an admission fee to enter the building. I don’t agree with this, certainly would not feel comfortable leaving my children here unsupervised. Unfortunate.
The place was good but when we were asking for skates we said hi and then she didn’t even let us say anything also we were trying to measure a skate mate and she said that it would not be y’all enough and then we were asking if we could measure it and she kept refusing I felt that it was rude because we asked 3 separate times.. bad service
Its Great just like the name implies! Still has the same nostalgic feeling when we were teenagers. Like 30 years ago. My child loves it
Awesome. Service was friendly and music was popping!!
Allowed only 50 guests, drove 35 mins for no reason l
I love this place
Attended a birthday party over the weekend and was highly disappointed. Staff were great young people but the craters in the skate floor and 90 % of broken games left a lot to be desired. Only have 2 stars because of the staff. Great skate please get your rink & games fixed....very disappointing
My family had a great time. They have great deals.
Had my kids birthday here and it was a blast. Even here a few times, would have been nice for kid and adult time only though.
I go there all the time and it is great I know everyone
I love great skate. Ive been taking my 16 year old here his entire life and we always have fun. I love the different activities they have for kids of all ages and the prices are reasonable and they frequently have discounts.
Awesome place to take your kids, not too pricey. Suggest you teach your kids to skate without a skate bar before you come though!
Lots of fun for not a lot of money! They allow ur own skates and have security watching the parking lot and checking everyone out to make sure they are just there to skate! We have a blast every time thx greatskate!
Went here for a friends bday!! It was very retro and cool. Love it! But idk how to skate
