Lubee is an amazing place to visit these incredible creatures! I absolutely love bats and was able to get up close and personal to see their cute little faces and behaviors. Everyone was very knowledgeable and helpful and the work they are doing to protect bats and other animals is phenomenal! If you love bats or just want to learn more about them and their important role in our world, this is a must stop!

This is our second year attending the Florida Bat Festival at the Lubee Bat Conservancy. We definitely look forward to attending again! There were even more vendors this year and there was great attention to detail taken in decorating for this event. They offered informative workshops as well. Dee is a joy to interact with and shows great passion in educating us all about these often misunderstood, beneficial fuzzy flying mammals! In fact, for Christmas, I am asking for a bat house.

There is not much to do here. Were hoping there were some fun interactive activities for the kids. They need to add educational activities for families or kids on field trips related to bats. A seek and find or fact sheet so its interactive, fun and also encourages learning. The walk through was short for the bats and there wasnt much for us to do.

If you like animals and/or being educated about them in general or bats in particular YOU MUST VISIT! My wife and I did a private 2 hour tour as a Valentines present to each other and had an amazing time. Alex was our guide and she was fantastic! The two hours flew by. We learned so much. We were able to get up close and personal with a variety of bat species. The enclosures are kept very clean; no visible droppings and no smell at all.Every bat was very chill. Some are curious and crawl in your direction, but not with an intimidating demeanor and slowly enough for you to back away. Others will crawl away if you get to close. (I say crawl but theyre all hanging upside-down and traverse across the ceiling in a crawling manner.) We didnt see any fly. The environment is very calm and the bats just hand around unless theres food. They are all super adorable and are basically fuzzy puppies with wings. Its easy to tell this facility is managed by and staffed with knowledgeable people who are passionate about proper care of the bats and educating people about them. The entire facility is in good shape; you can tell it is meticulously maintained. I intend to become an annual donor, I had no idea how important bats are for the environment or how important it is to have places like Lubee to insure that bats can continue to be prolific. I hope to go back again soon.

Wonderful space for the bats with caring staff willing to share their knowledge during public events. The bats are well tended with enrichment and varied natural food choices. If you can, you must attend an open house!

I couldnt have had a better time! Dee, one of the keepers, gave us the best tour! We learned about the history of Lubee and all the fun stories. Then of course the animals! They have many honorary bats there, however I was there for those sky puppies We got to feed them fruit and scratch them with little brushes. Id volunteer here daily if I lived closer! Id highly recommend a tour and if you can donate some money or time there, Im sure theyd be grateful!

This review is for the once-per-year Lubee Bat festival. Wide assortment of vendors who did not seem vastly overpriced as you might expect; plus many info booths on environment and wildlife. The Gainesville Area Bee Club table with live bees was really cool - the kids loved it. Coincidentally next to a fellow selling raw local honey (Valhalla Spa Organics).

My kids love this place. There is always something new to learn here. Once a year they organize big bat festival about two weeks before haloween. As far as I know this is the only bat conservatory of its kind perhaps in the whole world. Make sure you donate and bring your friends too. The producers of Avatar movie came here to film 3D shots of bats to study how they fly in order to animate the dragons. very cool. :)

Conservation is at the forefront of the message here, and the bats are not the only animals you will see. They have activities and events for people of all ages, including hands-on animal interactions with their tortoise and skinks. This is a great place for small groups all the way to large school groups. Also a great place for anyone looking to volunteer!

My boyfriend took me here a few weeks ago as a surprise. I am totally obsessed with bats, and I highly recommend taking a tour, here! I thought the price for the experience of a lifetime was extremely decent and all the proceeds go directly to the bats, so I was more than willing to pay anything to help. It was very educational, hands on, and just amazing. You get to prepare the food and actually go and feed them and hang out with them. I couldnt believe how up close and personal I was able to get to the most adorable little creatures. They are so smart and curious. I cannot wait to go again!

I bought a private tour of the Conservancy as a Valentines present for my bat loving girlfriend. We had such a good time! We got to hand feed Ziggy Stardust, their African spurred tortoise. We fed fruit kebabs to the bats. One of the bats, Mork, even painted an original work of art for my girlfriend! We spent 2 hours with our tour guide Alex who was very knowledgeable about all the animals as well as the workings & history of the Conservancy. Over all I would highly recommend stopping by & checking the place out. My girlfriend & I are already looking forward to returning for BATFEST which occurs every October just before Halloween.
