Great live animal display! Lots of snakes, turtles, and also amphibians. They have a Great Horned Owl that was rescued. Hes quite big! Nice bee exhibit... We were able to find the queen. And lots and lots of great outdoor trails!!!
Nice trails system. You can decide the distance you want to go. Just a point of clarification to see the lake you will have to hike over 6 miles out and back (if you are parked at the science center like I was) elachee trail, to bridge trail to lake loop. Or you can drive over to it and park there (2100 Calvary church road).
Very professional venue. My wife and I had a social distance wedding. While worried, Kristin and her crew took several precautions to ensure the safety of our small party. The venue was gorgeous and wonderfully spaced out. Throughout the year, however, Kristin was our go-to. She was amazing! My wife and I could not have asked for a better coordinator!
Nice! They added 5k, 10k, & 1/2 marathon markers to their tails. I may have found my new trail running location.
A great piece of local history being well preserved. Schools visit here with children to learn, many being from out of town. It also has bicycle trails for all experience levels. Used to be free entry. Cost $5 per car or $50 per yearly pass. Well worth it. If you don’t want or have the extra money to spend, park at the church outside of service hours and walk in for free.
Great trails to to hike and no crowds...
Great place to get outdoors. Clearly marked trails great indoor activities.
Very good, very quiet,
Excellent educational facility! Adults and kids:) live animals/reptiles, School field trips, classes, and amazing trails through the Chicopee Nature Preserve. The staff is so friendly, very informative and extremely enthusiastic! Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys nature
The Elachee Nature Center is a great place to go for a hike during any part of the year. There are short trails that are under 1 mile, and long trails that go up to about 7 miles at all types of elevations. There is even a handicap accessible paved trail - which is really cool!I have never been inside the science building, but I have heard good things, but i most often come here to take a nice calming hike!
Great walking trails including a paved wheelchair accessible trail. Its also a great place to bring kids.
The nature trails are great! They have beginners loops all the way up to really rigorous ones that stretch many miles with tough climbing switchbacks. The volunteer armada there are dedicated and very aware. Always diverging trails for erosion purposes and keeping the trails clean and clear. These are primitive trails so single file works best. Also there are suspension bridges and other narrow parts so show that trail etiquette and yield to traffic.
My son loved it!
This place has some nice hiking trails and it has a nice museum inside it. Its also got some food mountain bike trails. If you dont want to leave Gainesville to do those things Elachee is pretty good.
Great place to learn and hang out . If you love nature
Went there to hike around the various trails they offer. Facility was nice, just FYI if you want to visit the center itself, it cost $5. Did not know that till I got there, so I skipped that and just hiked. Trails were very well maintained.
They go out of their way to make sure the kids have a fun experience as well as learning something...my kids love their hands=on way of teaching...the gift shop is a little pricey, but thats the norm for this kind of business...
Elachee is a great heritage for the Gainesville Georgia community. The stewardship of staff and volunteers from the community is a treasure for those looking to learn, teach and be present with nature and our families.
The nature preschool is amazing experience for our son!
I love that place so much.
Beautiful place to visit.
Best Nature Center EVER My favorite teacher is Roanne Lavere!!
