We had a fabulous visit! Tom was friendly and informative! If you have an interest in history, this is a great stop! The society can also give you directions to General Longstreets home sites and final resting place!

Longstreet 25 Anniversary ribbon cutting ceremony October 2019. This donation only museum near downtown Gainesville is ripe with civil war history and is actually part of General Longstreets hotel established after the war. This little known jewel of Gainesville is absolutely worth a visit as you will come away with pride in discovering Gen. Robert E Lees second in command and how Gen. Longstreet shaped reconstruction by embracing the African-American community much to the dismay of many southerners.

The Piedmont Hotel is one of the best kept secrets in North Georgia. It covers multiple periods of time. It has artifacts from the Civil War and gives a glimpse into the postwar life of General Longstreet.
