A lovely location for a quiet walk in the woods. On one side of the parking lot is the park operated by the city of Gahanna. Leashed dogs are allowed on the trail. On the other side of the parking lot is a state nature preserve. Dogs and bikes are prohibited in the nature preserve. Trail loops are relatively short- around 1 mile. Trails are easy and well maintained. The port-a-pot that used to be available in the parking lot has been removed due to Covid.
Short but very beautiful hike in the woods. The south part, the state nature preserve, is much better- old growth forest and amazing spring wildflowers. Put all the trails together and its a little under 2 miles. Worth a visit in the Columbus area.
Beautiful area! There are several smaller trails here but still gorgeous routes. There are benches throughout and one specifically that sits atop a hill - definitely a spot to take a book and read at.
Pleasant walk on dirt paths. Would be very pretty in full fall color.
Awesome hike! Probably best scenery in spring and when leaves come out in the fall!
Very nice. Not crowded. Trails could be better marked.
Great quick walk! Gets the heart rate up!
Went 4/8/2020. Very swamp-like and infested with ticks. I realize this is prime flea and tick season, but found 3 on my dog within the first 10 minutes (I was able to see them quickly before they embedded themselves because he is very light colored) so if you plan on taking your pet, please make sure they are on a preventive plan or go later in the year, or just find another park that is paved and fewer trees/swampy areas.
Love this park, but you walk ankle deep in the mud after the slightest rain. There are fallen tree trunks all over the walking path. I still love the place but it is a Nature Preserve, intentionally left untouched. Not the easiest hike.
A couple of nice trails and usually not too busy
Not my favorite park, but it has a decent view, and the first swampland Ive seen
Lovely little park. A couple benches by the pond if you want a place to relax in nature. The highlight for me are the trails; two approximately half mile loops, and two one mile loops. Not strenuous at all but quite pretty. One side goes through the woods past a couple ponds/swampy areas. The others go through standard Ohio woods with a nice view of the water tower at the end of a clearing.
Mosquitoes and poison ivy this time of year. It is really pretty though. But not pretty enough to override the mosquitoes and poison ivy
Its so peaceful. They have benches along they paths so you can sit and relax
Very private, not alot of people know about this park but its a must go to. Various paths and trails and LOTS of animals
Great nature preserve, will visit again!
I think this place is awesome
Very stunning beauty. A gorgeous walking trail. Not really that big but perfect for the area. The pine forest is amazing.
Awesome park nice trails, benches everywhere to sit and enjoy nature. Trails tend to be a little muddy in the spring but they do dry out
Nice to get out and exercise
Nice place to enjoy Nature
Absolutely love this place! I really enjoy taking my dog Ziggy for a walk here. We cant go into the wetlands part, but there are still plenty of trails you can take your dog on. Ive actually been disappointed by some of the larger parks down here in Columbus that have a lot of trails but only one short dog walking trail. The Gahanna Woods has about half the park thats ok for dogs. Ziggy is always tired when we leave. And the park is absolutely beautiful! We go almost every weekend and we really enjoy seeing things change with the seasons. Its a beautiful place.
Cool little spot to go on a walk if you are nearby and want to try to forget you are in the city! Trails arent marked particularly well but its pretty easy to just wander about for an hour or so.
Gahanna woods park ....If you want a very quit. Shady. Colorful. And a place it seems like time has forgotten. Its a real nice place to walk. And some days. Never see a single person. Enjoying the silence. Of little kids. Not crying to mom and dad. Im board. Can we go?Thats one of the biggest reasons I go for a walk here. You can hear the birds. Singing. The grass hoppers chirping in the fall. And as you sneak up to a little creek? You will see and hear spring little green frogs calling to there mates. Most parks I visit. Grown ups and kids are yacking there jaws. Laughing. Throwing stones or sticks.Making any bit of noise . will scare any animal. Or little creature. And when you see a deer. Stop and enjoy one of Gods little. Creations. If you stop.look. the deer will look at you. And wonder just like you. Do not feed them. Are food is no good for them. So come to GAHANNA WOODS PARK. Walk, look, enjoy the walking trail. (Walking only). Take a little snack, there are some benches to sit..And wonder, what will I see.? And hear?Come find out.!!!
This is a really nice park! The trails can get really muddy however and even though there is a sign in the park that says it closes at 11 pm they apparently close at sunset instead. At least that is what a cop told me before he searched my vehicle because I was there after dark. :/
It was great we found a Gahanna rock it was fun
A little hard to locate..... entrance is actually off of Taylor Station rd, unlike what Google maps tells you. A nice hiking trail, that is not too strenuous. It is a small park, so the parking lot could fill up quickly, but it was not busy when I visited. Several wetland ponds, with easy viewing from the car for those with mobility chalenges!
Fun to walk through close to my family and great exercise .
A nice quiet place to walk in the woods. There are several trails to choose from. Sections of the trails are on wooden boardwalks but the majority are dirt. Be prepared for muddy conditions after wet weather.
Nice place to relax.
One of my favorite parks to walk my dog. One side is a nature preserve where dogs are not allowed but if you read the signs youll see half the park belongs to Gahanna Parks and you can walk your dog. I wish people would respect the nature preserve because I see people ignoring the signs quite often which makes it harder for responsible pet owners. Great trails through the woods!
Rustic hiking area with well maintained trails (boardwalks, trimmed trees and matting for the mudsy areas) but not groomed for strollers. No play area or real bathroom but perfect for outdoor play. Feels like youre further from the city than you are. Plenty of nice benchs. Well maintained porta potty with hand sanitizer.
Great local park. It has a couple trails about a mile long and some smaller offshoots you can do to extend your hike if you wish. It is best when it is dry as the trails can become muddy. Ive seen dogs being walked there regularly and no one has ever seem to have had a problem. Everyone has always been friendly.
Beautiful place for a walk!
Beautiful natural area. Trails not used as often could use alittle cut back.
Gorgeous trails and a very intimate setting make this small park worth a visit!
Loved it. Paths were muddy, but we found 2 frogs & 3 salamanders. Well worth the visit!
Great place to retreat from traffic and look at nature. Unless some idiot decides to park and blast their music as loud as their stupid car will permit.
Fairly rustic with few people. Pick a dry time though as the trails are pretty muddy otherwise.
Well maintained trails. Small enough to walk in under an hour.
This is a wonderful nature preserve. In the middle of the city, but the deeper you go on the path, you begin to forget you are right in the middle of the city.
Nice park!
Beauty
Nice easy walk in the preserve and never busy
Its very peaceful here and a nice place to go to clear your mind or just hang out with friends! Its especially cool when you get too see wild life such as turkeys, deer, or even fascinating plants :)
Beautiful place to walk the dogs and be in nature. Its like a little slice of the hocking hills trails. Love it!
Secluded and peaceful but pack that bug spray
Wish they allowed pets but else its beautiful spot.
Great guiet park to relax in.
Went to walk dogs as advertised on website. Got there and all signs said no dogs on walking paths. Not having my brush clearing GB equipment with me, we went home.
Nice place to come and unwind
Small and peaceful with ample parking and a nice trail around the pond. Has a handicap accessible portapotty, and lots of flowers in the spring and summer. Also has 3 Pokestops and a Pokemon gym if you play Pokemon Go!
Not a bad lil park for a quick walk!
Gahanna best hiking trails in the small city. The path is mostly board walk and mulch. The path offers some stone trail and rubber pads along side some marsh/ ponds. Quite and relaxing. Beautiful all year round
Beautiful small park and hike.
Very great place for your family to enjoy
Nice park situated in a nice suburban neighborhood
Beautiful wooded area with vernal pools and a small stream surrounded by a rapidly expanding suburbia
Nice for a walk. Pretty. Close to the airport, so it can be loud, but its an enjoyable, small park.
Trails are short (1 mile and under) and flat. However it is quiet and scenic.
AlkVery muddy trail. Potential to be a beautiful
Cute little park to walk. Very scenic for such a smaller park.
Nice place but the trails were pretty muddy in spots. Nothing a little mulch couldnt fix.
Beautiful scenery and a great selection of walking trails.
Not quite what i expected but is a good nature spot with creeks & trails, definitely bring hiking boots with the possible boggy & muddy parts
The park was nice, a little muddy considering the weather but ok. Wasnt too happy about the posting of hunters killing off the white tailed deers because theyre in their habitat. Shame on Gahanna Woods Park.
This park popped up when I searched Dog friendly parks Gahanna. It was the first link, as a matter of fact. Well, when I got there I saw two other people walking dogs, so off we went. Got 20 yards down the trail when I saw no bikes or pets sign....and as we left the park a helpful maintenance man scolded me for bringing a dog. Gee, why would I have thought to do something so whacky? Anyway, nice place I guess but not if you have a 4-legged friend.
Very natural swamp like park
Very pretty area. There are a lot of walking trails with three fishing ponds.
Mosquito CityWear protective clothing and bug spray !
Nice little walking park. Gets a little soggy after a rain but still a nice walk in the woods.
Its was a relaxing Aera. the day on my vist .I had the park to my self .That in its self was even more relaxing .
Great place work a walk at lunch.
Hike in the woods when its hot outside and youll be cool and have serenity.
Just a quick stop off to see some wetland St edge of city. Usually ducks too.
I love it. Nice trails and lots of senic views.
Two paths for a quick walk in the woods. Two thumbs up.
Small and traffic noise
Love this little park. Pretty scenery & trails.
Nice park never stopped before my dog enjoy the walk
One of the best running trail groups for a small, local park.
Muddy, but great! Wear old shoes!
Very small, but a few nice trails for running
Dont go here. Mosquitoes are it hey to break into next season
Nice week kept trails, made for a solid run
Great trails for walking and running. Animals welcome.
