Wonderful large lake! Easy to get to, plenty of parking & boat ramp and dock (including boat rollers) make lake very accessible! Had a great time kayaking!
A wonderfully uncrowded lake experience. Went out on the water with my daughter and there were maybe 6 other people out on kayaks like us. There are two launching ramps that I know of and there were a few people out fishing also. If you are looking for a quiet place to enjoy some fishing or an afternoon tooling around on your john-boat or kayak, this is the place.
Nice big lake great for kayaking and fishing. Theres a nice kayak launch and its big enough for boats.
Not much here, but its a decent quiet place to do some fishing or kayaking. Maybe a picnic.
Beautiful quiet and great place to go think
Tranquility in the heart of Stafford County. This is a new reservoir with over 500 acres of water to explore, approximately 5 times bigger than Hartwoods other notable water recreation spot at Curtis Lake. The best part of the park is the absence of gas engines: youre limited to paddles or electric trolling motors to get your boat around. Its been very quiet the times Ive come here, and plenty of room to go far out and enjoy the silence. The water is mostly open, with very few old submerged trees to bump into, of which Curtis has an overabundance. I havent fished, so cant vouch for that quality. The public boat launch has a kayak launch and floating pier, which is a welcome feature. The boat launch is at the bottom of a long hill with limited room to get yourself aligned initially, so it may be a bit of a challenge and takes some practice. Parking is good, with plenty of room for trailers in the main gravel lot. There are a few paved spots, and several overlook parking spots ideal for a lunch break looking at the water. Actual bathrooms are on-site, and water fountains. One minor ding: only two picnic tables installed, of which only one is sited for looking at the water. The 2nd table is poorly positioned, set up either to look at people at the first table, or to look at the bathroom building or the corner of the lake with the boat launch. There is plenty of room on the same hillside to expand options and give everyone a view. Overall, however, this park is a fantastic place.
Ramp ok considering age of park. A little drop on end of ramp makes it a bit difficult for larger boats being towed by smaller vehicles. I had no problem with my 4x4, but can see problems for others with 2wd and bigger bass boats in wet conditions. Great RR facility stocked and clean. Bank fisherman galore and needs ongoing maintenance to clean up after others who dont pick up themselves. Not very much shade. Need trees!
Just a beautiful place for kayaking and swimming. Loved it!
Nice and clean. Not too bust. They have a kayak ramp.
Great lake, although no fish caught today.
Gorgeous lake, few areas to shore fish, boaters welcome, has a kayak slip
Was here for the first time in my kayak and it was wonderful
The fishing was great today. Surprised to see that the lake was low but expected for the summertime me about two boys where on the water for about 3 hours and caught 11 bass with artificial bait. It was a good say
This place is nice to fish. Lots of shoreline to fish from. They have a ramp to launch your boat and a platform to launch your canoe or kayak from. The only problem I have here is that you cant legally keep any bass over 12 inches. As you can see in my 5th and 6th photo, I caught a monster of a fish. Which I did return to the lake after taking the pictures.
Beautiful place and semi private with a good boat and canoe ramps however not much else to do there
Very Beautiful. Just visit, you will feel relaxed.
Visited on mild, not so humid, day in Aug. Very peaceful afternoon yakin. Pretty lake. Good ramp facility.
Great place to layak.
Good fishing with live bait
Beautiful and peaceful this afternoon!
Big young lake
Fish are small but you catch a bunch
It was nice for our picnic. Not suitable for strollers though.
Nice lake just need to firgue out the fishing.
For my purposes, paddleboarding, this is a fantastic location. The lake is large enough to be able to accommodate paddleboarders, kayakers, and fishermen alike. It was very windy today so I didnt get much SUP in, but plenty of paddling nonetheless. The boat ramp area was well maintained so getting in and out of the water was a snap. Ill be back on calmer days.
Lake Mooney Park is a nice place to picnic, fish, or spend time outdoors. Theres a boat launch for boaters and a pier and canoe launch.
Hidden secret of stafford but needs more shoreline to fish From. The back side is residential and the access from there is full of no parking signs
Only good if you own a boat, kayak, or canoe... not really a park, just a boat ramp and not much space for bank fishing, no trails
Great time today. Caught 6 bass.
Tough for fishing from land but wide open for a kayak.
Great fishing right off the dock has boat access
Great new place not heavy with people but definitely a good idea to have your own jon boat. But were able to catch from the bank
Great fishing.
Drinking water not turned on at bathrooms. There is a sign that saysyou must hold water on for awhile before it comes on, did that but still no water. Also thought there was no swimming in leaky Mooney but there were people swimming. Also no shade.
Pleasant and peaceful. Done a little fishing and plan on going back.
Beautiful park. We kyacked there and it was so peaceful
Great place to unwind and relax!
Great place to fish
Great place to do some fishing or boating. They have an EZ boat launch for canoes or kayaks.
Nice area.
Beautiful location. Large parking lot, trash receptacles, bathrooms, easy access boat ramp and small dock.
Very peaceful
Nice

Beautiful park
Too crowded, not much to look at.
