This museum is informative, intelligent and clear. The photos themselves are art and yet they are used in a way that informs the displays as a whole. The organization through the galleries could tell a more organized story but its thorough and includes many topics and it could be argued that it makes it easier to grasp more info from each topic because its presented in bits that bounce between each other instead of having an entire room on each. The team who put it together must be great communicators because the displays are clear and informative and the use of various forms of visual aids are talented. Also I love the lack of rules and that theres a place to sit down in almost every room. Its a lovely place to learn.
Nice overview of area with displays of area history. Modestly priced; self-paced tour.
Small but nice collection to spend a half an hour at.
Small but fine local museum in and of Fredriksburg. Being myself German it was very interesting to read some letters from 2nd WW soldiers to their spouses at home. How the single person experienced the war, especially when Hiroshima was atomized and a single soldier was just hoping the war ends so that he can get home to his loved ones. Overall the museum has its focus on civil war, great war, 2nd WW and it is well equipped with material for that. Aside from the exhibition of the wars, there was a exhibtion of the old bank and their equipment in the old times. I found that interesting, becuase I never thought about banking in the old times. In the upper floor are old posters from the 40s that I think pointing out the values that the society had and why it was worth to defend it. Its worth a visit.
Its local Fredericksburg history. You definitely will learn something. I would like that when the issue of slavery is talked about, that it doesnt come across so sing song, and that is insulting. Tell the truth, tell it like it was, dont down play, sugar coat or white wash it. The truth is freeing no matter how uncomfortable it makes certain people feel. Hopefully some will learn from the past, change so we dont continue to repeat it.
Full of tidbits of Fredericksburgs history without long narratives to read and lots of old time photos. Worth the price of admission.
Not very big and not at all what you think it will be when you visit. Learned some new interesting things.
Gave veteran discount though already reasonably priced. Welcoming staff. Walk through at own pace.
History of Fredericksburg very interesting. Anna super cool and knowledgeable!
Nice educational place for Fredericksburg history.
Fascinating exhibits. Our guests had no idea Fredericksburg was so important!
Great information about the history of the area around and including Fredericksburg
Nice exhibits and friendly employees.
Kris kringle Mart at market square was a blast...lots of cool craft vendors....good food...good Christmas shopping venue
Fredericksburg Concert Band was outstanding!
Nice local museum. Civil war and world war II exhibits are very interesting. Local history is good too.
Love this place with the exception of parking. However, there are a couple of free city parking lots a couple of blocks away, and the town is so walkable, I really dont mind.
Very disappointed in the volunteer who did not tell Military Vets are free refused to give refund of admission ticket and did not want to give receipt said he could not refund admission fee. What a Joke!!! just ruin my whole experience. Nothing new about native Indians who own Fredericksburg before white man took it. Scenic Fredericksburg Map is totally inaccurate a lot of old junk I would buy at yard sale. good luck never again!!!!!
Great museum great staff
Great exhibits, youll see things that you werent expecting. Not crowded at all either.
Lots of historical artifacts and they hold concerts in town square! Right now they are hosting an art show called monster mashup that Im featured in! Basically a kindergartener draws a monster and we recreate it!
