Wonderfully kept battlefield with concrete paths with well illustrated depictions of the battles. Easy access for anyone wanting a nice stroll through the field. One of the decisive battles at this site ensued in the late evening and into early night. The evening I visited we were cast a farewell about 8pm in early June these fireflies as they lit up the field with their evening sparkle of homage.
This is a very beautiful venue. And all the ground sleeping looks fantastic which makes for awesome photos. And it’s quite an open layout. It was a very enjoyable place to host an event at.
We toured two homes that were in the battle of Franklin Tennessee. Each tour guide was awesome. One gave it from the perspective of the families (loved it!) and the other was more historically presented. I love the homes. They were furnished and had family pictures. Wonderful!!!
A perfect place to take an easy walk or bike ride. Not very crowded and very pretty walk.
Great record of history but could be improved with visual memorablilia for younger visitors
Nice open park with easy walking trails and great informational signs. The park is free and tours of the plantation home cost a little money.
Well maintained and worth a visit. Kid and pet friendly. The Confederate graves were well maintained informative and balanced with a new display for the African dead from the plantation.
Must visit to get a perspective of the battle and fighting over 3 days that left more than 10000men dead. Amazing history
Incredible sense of time travel goes on upon visit.
Well kept. Beautiful place. Confederate cemetery is marked respectfully.
This is the best kept secret in Franklin if you like to fly drones. Beautiful scenery, quiet, lots of interesting things to see from the air, wide-open spaces. We also did my daughters prom pictures at the activity center where the lawn and garden features were the perfect setting. Really a wonderful public place. Very educational. Grounds well kept. Very enjoyable park to walk for exercise. To walk the park waa free. However, the area of the home and tour of the home cost to visit.
A beautiful historical walk
Its alsom app
Wonderful facility to enjoy an outdoor concert. Way better than i could have imagined. Saw Resurrection Journey Tribute band. Great show and the space keys you enjoy while tailgating. Ran into about a dozen friends and neighbors. Loved it.
Great place. The event space was very nice and the staff accommodating. We were there for a wedding.
Good historical place. Please visit once.
A great place to learn about history. Dress comfortably & bring sunscreen.
If you dont learn from your history your doomed to repeat it. The cemetery was lovely, sad to see so many unknowns
Awesome place!! Really shows off the simpler enjoyable side of TN!!
So much grass and a little brook running through it.
What a awesome place to visit. Brings me lots of thoughts of what our country went through and what was sacrificed.
Awesome place with a lot of history! If youre in or around Franklin...its a must go!!
Wonderful place just be aware that even to walk the grounds means paying an admission fee.
A wall theu history. Excellent tour unbelievable.
Its so peaceful here. My friends gr gr uncle fought at the battle of Franklin and is buried in the he Carnton cemetery so we visit quite often.
Every American that has the opportunity should walk through this park to hear the warnings these graves scream to us from our past.
Great history. Love the South and its history
Located in the front of the Carnton plantation, this park is a bit awkward. The whole area feels like you are walking around an abandoned 9 hole golf course. Thats probably because until recently this was a 9 hole golf course. So, the meandering path at one time took you from hole to hole is now lined with occasional informational signage. Some of these are interesting but not enough to warrant a visit for that alone.I must admit it is challenging to imagine the property as a battlefield or to picture any military action as... It just looks like a golf course. However, this park shares property and parking with a civil war cemetery and the Carnton Plantation so it is not a total bust.
Its a must in Franklin!
Good place to take a walk. Interesting cemetary. Carter House is a much better tour.
Got married in the courtyard behind the event facility. Beautiful location!
We had an awesome time with family
Great history of our great nation, stories of the heroes on and off the battlefields I really enjoyed the tour of the home and the grounds. The cemetery was both enlightening and somber, December is a great month to visit.
Have toured Carnton House prior. Eastern Flank provides a nice walk with dogs. Signage providing description of the battle are outstanding. We visit often.
Gorgeous property and historically significant area!
Beautiful and sad at the same time. But it has been lovingly preserved.
Nice tour. Informative.
The City of Franklin has done an excellent job of preservation and community access. There is a 1 mile loop trail around the property with historical markers/stories along the way to learn the history of the battle, or enjoy a simple stroll on this beautiful piece of TN property steeped in history.
Pretty park, large enough to walk around and see historic plaques. We came for a wedding, plenty of parking and private event space offered.
Great place to learn about one of the many battles during the Civil War. I liked that it is neatly kept with a large parking lot and lots of things to explore during your trip. Please wear comfortable shoes as you will be doing lots of walking to see the whole place.
Beautiful and historic.
Great place for exercise and history. They have a venue there thats perfect for receptions and other parties.
Many good men died here and not kindly!
Alot of history here, I hate I didnt get to spend more time here but Im looking forward to my next visit.
Rather unassuming as far as battlefields Ive visited, but the plantation gives an interesting historical perspective of the area at that time.
Proud to have this in FranklinWonderfulThe past to now is a great achviment.
This review is dedicated to Samuel Watkins...who witnessed this battle/carnage personally...and who wrote a passionate account of it in his excellent memoir, Company Haitch. (H)...He was enlisted in the First Tennessee CSA....I have not been there...but it is a remarkable piece of history.....
Reclaimed Carnton golf course has been undergoing a multi-year transformation back to a public park., Its part of Historic Franklins plan to reclaim and reverse-develop the land that was involved in the Battle of Franklin.Great place for a picnic, adjacent to the Carnton Plantation and McGavock Family cemeteries, a definite must-see for anyone doing the Civil War tourism thing in Franklin.
Beautiful park and well kept cemetery.
A great place to get away and collect your thoughts.
I liked it but the price is WAY too high.
