There is a phase in life when youre too old to be out at 2 a.m. on most nights of the week, but too young to be in bed at 9. Americas Backyard had a soft reopening to transition itself from a bar to an outdoor/indoor restaurant with live music several nights a week. On a Saturday night at 8:30, the band was happily playing covers from the 70s, 80s, and 90s--giving everyone something to rock out on and taking requests long before the end. The food is mostly pizza, but its good pizza served up personal sized with over 24 varieties (we had the margherita pizza). I was not impressed by the craft beer variety, which could use sprucing up in a South Florida jam-packed with great microbrews (my server suggested Narragansett for lagers and said they had not one sour on tap, bottle, or can). Cocktails are served in plastic cups in this new Covid world and we were seated with a reservation (yes, you need one) on stage right next to the band. My Backyard Lemonade was strong, sour, and a perfect pairing with cheesy pizza. We had a great time and will be back. The Himmarshee District needs a place thats open to families of all types (we brought our ). Indoor and outdoor seating available. All staff wore masks. Plenty of hand sanitizer throughout Backyard. 50% capacity. Management, service, and cleanliness were on point.
Amazing night out. Staff is super friendly! Follows strict CDC GUIDELINES. Hope they serve burgers soon. The best part was the Collektives live band. Very fun family evening !
Sam with a g was an amazing sever she had gloves and a mask on, even brought our drinks out with cups over them. If you want a fun night during this pandemic this is the best place. Not crowded and a very happy friendly environment.
Cool spot tuck away on Argyle and a lively especially after 10 pm. Happy hour runs from 5-9 pm pretty extensive unlike most spots with a decent food menu.Great selection of whisky and price unlike other lounges with the exception of Yamazaki which is a bit too much. This place beats 7 Grand which is way too full.
Amazing update to a downtown classic. Great pizza and apps. Fun socially distanced environment with live music and good times.
Great vibe, super strong drinks. Very pricey, so dont go expecting a small tab lol! Only complaint would be because of covid, you cant really socialize and mingle with the ladies. so bring some with you if you go. Live band was pretty dope as well.
Ah yes, Americas Backyard... the counterpart to Sway. Alternate your nights between here and Sway and you will not regret your trip to Laudy at all. This is a Spring Break dream bar. All college kids and has multiple large bars. Make sure you tip well so the bartenders come to you quickly.
This is one of my favorite places! Warm and cozy!
Love this place so much!!! Definition of a good time.
My friend could not come in because he was wearing pants. No you did not read that wrong. This place has a strict enough dress code that will deny paying customers entry for not wearing the right pair of pants. Why? Cause they see themselves as high end/ first class? A bar with nothing with bar crawling college kids?! They need to look at themselves as a business and figure out the things that really matter. This place has its priorities completely upside down.
Easy going bar!!! Little pricey!
Friendly staff. Nice patio!
Incredibly overpriced. Bartenders are extremely rude. Charged me for 6 drinks when I only ordered 2, and will not pay me back. They also incorrectly charged someone I know in the same week! A scam.
Kinda hope they bring back the middle bar.
Weak drinks and they refused to give a glass of water with them. $4 water bottles as the only option to get water is a pretty scummy move. This is part of the reason why the wharf is killing DT, go check it out everyone much better atmosphere and service
Cover and drinks can be pricey, but the venue is awesome
Cover and Drinks are a bit pricey, but it was a pretty hype place. Shaq DJed.
Not sure what the hype was all about this place, its cramped, loud, and hot. There is no AC or fans running and they charge you $4 for a water bottle, not even at the worst bars that Ive been to have charged me for water. DJ wasnt very impressive either and despite the 21+ age restriction, there were clearly underage people in here. Security up front should do a better job at controlling that.
I Love that I can bring my hoop and show off my flow. This is my favorite place to come out and dance in Fort Lauderdale!
Went there for the 90s pub crawl great DJ and drinks
Place was absolutely amazing. $20 stop charge, drinks are free till 12. Music was bumpin, liquor was cold and the women were hot. Highly recommend this one folks.
Super fun spot to celebrate the Chiefs going to the Super Bowl
This is a great place to see a concert. I saw the band Spoon and they were absolutely fabulous. Its not a big place but just the right size so that you dont have to get caught in traffic or congestion. Theres a real good bar inside and you can drink anything you want while watching the show. The place can put out some great quality sound
Place in town for spring break. Great music. Great staff from owners to bar backs.
Outdoor vibe. Great stage for bands and beer is cold.
AVOID THIS PLACE! Absolute WORST bar I have ever been to. Cover was horribly expensive for a sham “open” bar, staff was rude, and it took 20 minutes to get drinks. And even the drinks were bad! I would’ve had a much better time in my own backyard.
This review is long overdue because Ive been to Americas backyard several times over the years and each time Ive gone, Ive had a blast. One of the reasons I like this place so much is because it is unlike anything that is currently in Miami. People come here to have a great time, listen to good music and dance the night away.Pros:The drinks are priced for the most part pretty reasonably. The music changes throughout the night. At times youll have hip-hop, at times youll have rock, youll even get a mix of EDM and 80s music. They barbecue and serve hot dogs and burgers there. Lets face it when youre partying the night away, you get hungry and this is a definite plus. They have multiple happy hour specials and my favorite is reserving the patio area for a bachelor party. Its surrounded by a multitude of bars and restaurants within walking distance which is perfect for late-night munchies.Cons:Its an outdoors venue so it can get very hot. There is no private parking for the specific venue so parking can be a bit of a problem. It can get crowded at times so again you can get hot.
I love this place! Me and my girls went here on our spring break and it was the best night we had on spring break. Way more reasonably priced than Miami and since its outside it makes for a great atmosphere! Definitely will be back.
This place is the definition of trashy. I used to go here often, but it has changed over the years. Theyll hire anyone to work here. The shot girl never gave me back my change, and had security escort me out because she wanted to keep the rest of the money. Not to mention the bathroom is always full and smells like puke. Definitely one of the last places you should go to if youre in the Fort Lauderdale area.
I bought 4, 3 dollar beers. The guy held my card to start a tab but I didn’t end up getting anymore drinks. My group left and I forgot to get my card. Now my card has a 40 dollar charge!! And I have been calling and leaving messages and no one answers! This is fraud!!
Cool bar/club with a unique set up, that being most of it is outside. Great to take people who are new to FTL and an even better spot during the winter.
Went with a group of my friends, they let all of them in but not me. All my friends are way skinner than me and I have no reason not to believe they were discriminating. Disgusting. Not the only review they’ve got about issues like this. Should’ve listened!
Was told I had to pay $4 for water... no complimentary tap water. BS in my opinion.
Had a blast here! Words really can not describe. Drinks are delicious and the Dj keeps the party going
Been here two times, both times I had so much fun and I love the layout and the fact that is outside!
I love this place, but they charge you for a cup of water now. When I see people complain about money I always ignore the reviews. However- a bar should serve cups of TAP water for free, for the safety and well-being of those around them. This is still a fav spot of mine, but I also like to hydrate.
Fun bar at night
The most fun place on the strip with the best atmosphere and music!! I love this place
The bartender was extremely rude and the managers answer to my compliant was he will talk to him at the end of the night too many ppl to understand him... when you work in a bar environment you are ready to deal with the public not show them your bad day... horrible service
Great atmosphere, the bar is open to the outside. The place has drinking games, girls dancing on the bar and even free shots at times. Live bands show up on busy weekends.
Fun place, good crowd. Less one star because the bouncer at the exit yelled at my friend who had too much to drink. This is nightlife. People overdo it and make a mess all the time. If you work in it, you have to be able to handle from a customer service perspective like at any other place.
Had a great night last night, until they escorted my best friend out because hes gay. I was and still am amazed at how blatantly discriminatory they were.
Horrible experience I didnt feel welcome at the door by your guy that checks the ids considering I was only black guy in line at the time I was dress decent fitted pants with belt button up long sleeve shirt and out of every body in line your man at the door came up to me and said make sure your pants are pulled up or not getting in I felt offend and to be honest I wanted to put hands and feet on em but I swallow that comment he said because I was meeting somebody in there .Will i ever go more likely not you couldnt pay me to go in there your customer service there sucks
If I was still a teenager or college kid looking to get wasted somewhere (anywhere) on cheap booze listening to live music on a bad sound system (that no ones paying attention to anyway) this place would be heaven. It feels like an abandoned parking lot where they placed a few pop up bars and an elevated plywood stage. Lacks anything close to charm or nostalgia for backyard parties if thats the idea. No qualms with Stache or Revolution next door. If youre over 30-35 Id pass on this place and go to Stache instead.
Fun place to go. Drinks are super waterd down and sometimes its kind of dead. Love their flavored shots though.
The problem was that they like to take advantage of people and don’t have the minimum of professionalism . They need to learn the importance of manners and respect.Answer:Since is not possible to reply in this format. I will answer your question here. The person that supposed to help me with my reservation Haley Haughey does not reply and “disappeared “ even though I tried to contact her multiple times.-Guy at the entrance ignored me and was extremely rude to me.-The guy that told me he was the manager told me he doesn’t know Haughey and can’t contact her.-On Eventbrite is a free event on Cinco de Mayo but at the door they charged. Also they denied to have something to do with Eventbrite.-I did not get any reply to my emails, dm or calls.-People that are 18 + go to this place and there is a lot of proof. But at the door they say is only 21+.Take a look to the cases exposed here.
Horrible overall experience 0/10 do not recommend
Chiefs game rock this place...
Might as well be 18+
A fun place to hang out. There was a nice crowd there, but I suspect ot is more fun when they have an event.
Lauren and the staff are great! Chill location and good music.
Went there for a concert and was charged $5 for water after dancing in the pits and was very obviously dehydrated. Was disappointed as the venue itself is cool. Management is not.
My bf and I came here on a Friday night. Vibe was chill, it was slightly more empty than youd want, but at least it wasnt crowded. We were very pleased to find that locals drank free (beers and well drinks) till midnight. However, my bf ordered his usual double shot of Grey Goose (at $12 a shot) only to find it was not Grey Goose. I told the bartender, the convo went something like this:ME: this doesnt taste like Grey GooseBT: I poured it from the bottle, unless someone filled it with something elseME: well maybe someone didBT: goes and smells it, it smells fine (also tells me he doesnt drink Vodka, so how would he know exactly what it smells like?!)First time here for me, but we will not be returning.
One of the only bars on the strip that have a cover for entrance. Didnt go in because every other bar was free entry
Would be fun if you didnt pay $25 for unlimited drinks and they will only give you drinks if you pay for them. Dont waste your time.
Okay so Im going to be brutally honest. I give this place four stars because I was really drunk that one time I went. I really did go just one time. Its not my type of scene or people I would hang out with. The girls were dancing on the bar and it looked very coyote ugly type. I mean, I guess thats a good thing for men who want to pry on young girls shaking their asses and to the point where you can see their va jay jays. Anyways, my friend got this really big long drink with an umbrella in it and the drink was delicious! With the drinks, you cannot go wrong but they are not cheap. The music was open, mixed. Would I go again? Probably not, like I said, its not my scene. I liked it because I was with friends, the environment is too much of a young crowd and a bit white trash.
Place gets crowded but is great. Like the beat of the music even tho I listen to country. The drink prices suck 11 bucks for along island after tip thats insane. Then by the end of the night they started shorting me on liquor I don t know the kind of people the serve but I watch how people make my drink and it just got crapper and crapper as the night went on. But Sid have a blast will go back agin but not to often because of the drink prices!
Great location for a get together with friends.Drink prices are reasonable, cover charge can be free if your name is on the guest list.
Probably the busiest club in DT FLL. lots of people, lots of fun. also has a concert venue attached. they hold art festivals here on weekends among other things.
This place has really good music and a nice atmosphere.
Does anyone actually ever pick up the phone here? I have been calling non stop and left 3 voice messages regarding a stolen iPhone seeing if someone turned it into the lost & found?
The place has pickpockets preying on their customers with security being none existent. My daughter and her friend had their Iphones stolen from the purses while carrying on their shoulder.Management response was like so what?Be aware of your surroundings at this place!!!
Decent outdoor bar. The layout of the club itself is nice and the prices arent awful for downtown Ft Lauderdale. I had a pretty good time for the 45 minutes that my group decided to stop in for. The big negative to this place is the bartending staff. Numerous reviews mention that theyre slow, which is very true but the two that I interacted with were extremely rude and seemingly couldnt handle the stress of working in a high volume bar. This bar was my last stop of the night thanks to the staff losing my credit card. I would recommend this bar as the last stop of the night after youve already cut yourself off, and if do want another drink make sure to stay away from opening a tab.
BEWARE THE PLACE HAS PICKPOCKETS, MY DAUGHTER AND TWO OF HER FRIENDS HAD THREE I-PHONES STOLEN. MANAGEMENT DOES NOT CONTROL IT AS THEY HAVE SEVERAL OTHER REVIEWS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
The best place to go out in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. You will never fail to have a good time at Americas Backyard!
Awsome first time iv been there n am looking forward to go again with more people
Love this place good music good drinks definitely the place to go if youre from out of town try the green tea shots
Better for a younger crowd to pregame before you club hop
I visit this place a couple of times and its decent for the area, unfortunately i brought guest from outside the U.S yesterday with money to spend and the doorman decided not to let me in because of my pant which they were not baggy just normal pants. I cant let you inn with those pants, what a pitty, this place need professional staff and managment .
Very good vibes I the air everytime I went
Great spot for spring in March
Good spot to grab some cheap drinks. A little dirty, I wouldnt wear my nice sneakers out to here.
Its fantastic that my date gets to drink free here on Friday nights till midnight. Hula-hoop contest for the girls, and beer chugging race for the guys, if youre trying to have that kind of night
Ive visited this outdoor bar once before this weekend, and the men at the door looked at me and my friend as if we were lost and needed directions. . We were turned away because we didnt fit the dress code.. our pants were not fitted enough.. so we went back home to change and they had no choice bit to let us in.. and once we got in I cant say that I was surprised to see other ppl who werent following there dress code. . A few months later, this St. Patricks day weekend we decided to go out on a limb and try the place again despite the first impression. . This time while showing the men at the door my id another male walked over abd told me I wanwt allowed in because I violated dress code again because of my permanent gold teeth.. only two mind you! I asked was he serious and he straight faced told me yes we cant let u in! All I could do was laugh, since when was something in your mouth violating dress code?? Next there going to not allow ppl with tongue piercings and braces into their bar! Im pretty sure I know why this part of the dress code was put in place.. because gold teeth are associated with ghetto African Americans and thats one way to keep them out, discrimination dont u think? Im pretty sure next there going to not be letting anyone with dread locks or corn rows in.. im far from a thug and have never been treated that way because of mouth jewelry. . I wouldnt suggest this club to anyone, white, black, Spanish and everything in between
Last Wednesday in was there... Drinks not done well and a bartender tried to overcharge us :/
Loving it having a blast after work a must go
Great place for groups and an amazing outdoor patio
Had my fun but got served watered fireball for 8$. Thats just ridiculous.
The pitcher of liquor for $20 is the way to go here. Laugh, dance and forget the rest.
Always fun! Watch out for the sprinklers
Always such a fun and casual place to go.
Dopest place I ever been some a good vibe !
If you go during spring break and you use a card they will charge you twice. if you use cash for the “free drinks before midnight” you’ll only get drinks if you have cash for the bartender. Plan on spending $15+ on top of your $20. Plus they pick and choose on who they kick out, if you’re not a white girl you’re getting thrown out
Love this place! Always a good time
Kool place to hang out with friends! !
Cheap drinks, variety of music and always tons of people. Spring break year round
Great concert venue and outdoor bar.
Beware people steal iPhones here and management does absolutely nothing.
Very fun place, great music and good times!
Cool bar experience close to downtown Ft. Lauderdale.
Insane cover, runs any order as the credit card minimum, mediocre service
Pretty cool place
Nice place, but not as lively as I thought it would be.
They dont treat the men the same as women. Sexist sexist sexist SEXIST
Awesome
Fun
Nice place, although the bar tenders are ssslllllloooow.
