Worth a drive, the view is awesome. We just happened to be on this route to another destination and took the family back again to look around. Lots of bicyclers and hikers on a fairly narrow road so be extra careful. The places to pull off and look charge a fee but worth looking around.

Great place to camp, water ski, or any other water sports. Nice beaches, and places to dive from on top of high rock formations. Horsetooth also has some nice coves to relax and swim in or fish

Just beautiful! The views are amazing and it was easy to access right off the road! It can get kind of muddy though if there has recently been any rain

My cousin and I love kayaking here. Its fun whenever there are speedboats or jetskis passing by...it creates waves which makes kayaking more exciting. Kayaked to 2 Coves and it was beautiful. We kayaked further and further whenever we come here, its a nice lake to explore. Parking is $7 and therere plenty of them even on weekend. There are picnic tables, camping sites around the area. You can rent kayak and paddle boards here too.

Beautiful location. They have a marina and 3 ramp areas to put-in your boat with multiple lanes per put-in area. Gets busy on weekends and holidays which should be expected but not too crazy. Getting the boat in/out isnt a long wait most of the time. But you can wait a while for put-in on holidays. There are camping spots too and have to reserve them early before theyre gone. And theyre accessible by boat and hike. They are in coves along the western edge of rez.

Been boating here for a few years. Truly enjoy the sights and spotting wildlife once in a while. The ramp congestion can be overwhelming for some. Particularly those that choose to prep their boat for launching on the ramp. I recommend arriving by 8am for less congestion at the ramp.

What a stunningly beautiful place this is. I have visited twice now and enjoyed the changing views from summer to winter. The camp sites are well serviced with good spacing between pitches and this makes for an atmosphere of peace and relaxation. The water always looks inviting and the boat launch facility at the South end of the reservoir is very large and well run.The impressive cliff face which gives the reservoir its name is best viewed by walking down one of the footpaths on the East edge of the water. These are rough pathways and not accessible to those with walking difficulties though. All the parking places along the East bank of the reservoir provide spectacular views at all times of the year. It’s close proximity to downtown Fort Collins makes it an easy escape to enjoy some peace or exercise but it never seems to be crowded.

I live near here. The Reservoir is beautiful, but people, if you come tovisit, dont just leave you trash here. Take it home with you. Also, please use the recycle bins. One of my peeves is that people put trash in the dumpsters, like chairs, blow up toys, etc. Take it home with you, this is not a free trash dump. I live here and so do many people and we live here because we love it, dont ruin it. Thank you and enjoy.

We been there for three trips and stayed in their cabins. They are directly on the lake and spacious for a camper cabin. Its not fancy but the location makes up for it. It has electricity, AC and heat. There is direct access to the lake for fishing and the cabins are pet friendly. They also have an Aerostream for rent that is pet free. We just had one bad fishing experience, when the lake water level was lowered late in the season around September and we could not fish at the cabin. The Rangers and staff are friendly and helpful.

Upper full hook up sites are well spaced and prepped for RVs. Wonderful views and a quiet campground with reasonable rates. There is a daily entrance fee of $7 that I wasnt aware of, in addition to the camping fees. Seems a bit ignorant since you cant camp without a rig to get you there, but the county gets their share

I rated this a 2 because I have to leave room and compare to other lakes to visit.Horsetooth Reservoir is a good lake to visit. We go there quite often. The only bad thing about the lake is that the Rangers can be ridiculous at times. They will sneak up to your camp at night and freak out your dogs. One night last year, the Ranger guy snuck up to our camp and our dog nearly bit him. Of course it wasnt his fault... right lol. but for the next two days, we were harassed by the whole regime. Our best friends actually have a slip on the lake, and they run into problems with them all the time too.Just keep your dogs at home and go to bed by 9:59pm... youll be just fine.

For cabin camping for a young family. We had a great time with the kids and the cabins are perfect and well suited for cabin camping. Definetly bring some sort of water vehicle, and park it right at your cabin!

Such a beautiful setting and body of water rendered pedestrian at best by the throngs of speedboats and jet skis that clamor to compete for the daily title of Whos Louder & More Offensive Than Me?If you enjoy shore fishing, canoe paddling or processing thoughts this might not be the lake for you. The swim beach is non-existent. Its comprised of dirt and jagged rocks.Unquestionably, there are some great panoramic views to enjoy here. Perhaps experienced best on bike, horseback or on foot at Lory State Park.In sum, Colorado Parks & Recreation might think to require some muffling of the noise emitted from the vehicles within this beautiful mountain getaway. Its tending more toward Bandimere Speedway than a public recreational gem its supposed to be.
