Taken two virtual acting classes with Michigan Actors Studio so far and could not recommend them highly enough! Emilio and Kate are phenomenal teachers and I have grown so much as an actor from Acting I and II alone. Whether youre new to this business or experienced, a class from Michigan Actors Studio will help you understand the what the fundamental processes of acting are, and the feedback is top-notch!

All of the classes I have taken here, both in person and online, have been fantastic. The instructors are very knowledgeable about the craft and their passion is evident in the way that they teach. The environment is supportive and inspiring. I would highly recommend Michigan Actors Studio to anyone who wants to pursue an acting career, improve their communication skills, join a friendly community, or simply try something new.

I’ve always wanted to take an Acting Class & I’m so glad I took it here. Because of the Pandemic the class was Virtual, but they still did a great job. It was insightful, professional, and inspiring. Instructor Emilio is great! Definitely will be coming back for Acting 2!

I’ve been taking class at MAS for almost a year and I’ve loved every second of it. Even when we had to move to virtual classes in March, they found a way to continue to offer engaging and informative classes. I highly recommend MAS, especially for beginners who are just starting out.

I am signed up for my third Voice Over class via Zoom during these trying Covid times. Zoom works very well for this particular class and I enjoy having time to do my weekly recordings/assignments at home for the next week’s class. Your iPhone will work for that! The instructor is very experienced and gives excellent feedback on the spot. I miss Michigan Actors Studio, but love having a way to keep connected and keep learning!

The voice acting classes at Michigan Actors Studio are fun engaging interactive and contain valuable knowledge. I was stuck in a rut with my voice over performances. By the end of the second week of Voice Over I class I with Daba, I was able to identify a bad habit that was likely ruining my auditions. My auditions now are not magically perfect but after comparing what I sounded like before I started taking the classes vs what I sound like now, its a lot of improvement! In each class including Voice over II and now the current Voice Over III offer new challenges and learning experiences through the variations of practice scripts. And the instructor feedback is invaluable. I dont want to make this review too long but if you want to get into voice acting (do your due diligence of research first), or, you are already in the industry and want to improve your skills, take the Voice Over classes at Michigan Actors Studio.

I have done both VO1 and VO2 (virtually), and I did auditioning for film In person last year. I think Michigan Actors Studio has great instructors. I feel confident I am learning the skills I need to further my acting career. Personally I have worked with Daba and he is so down to earth, he makes sure the class is fun, and all your questions get answered while being straight forward with his critiques. I can’t wait to sign up for more classes!

HOW have I not reviewed this place yet?!?! Michigan Actors Studio is one of my favorite places of all time and has been for over five years now. I graduated with my certificate of acting 3 years ago and the staff, fellow students, and courses all helped me build the momentum I needed to move to New York City where Ive been on the path Ive wanted to be in acting. When moving here, I didnt know if Id ever get the opportunity to take a class at MAS again. Then came along 2020 and VIRTUAL CLASSES!!! I can now be at my Michigan safehaven while sitting in my Brooklyn apartment because of their new webcam Zoom classes, and that is the best thing that has come out of this year yet! No matter where you live, this could end up being the perfect fit for you!I have only taken Acting III through online so far, but look forward to signing up for another course soon. Its actually wild how well the virtual setup works when doing an entire course. When I did this class in person, it felt more like a theater class, but through Zoom it has more of a film class vibe, which I love. I think both platforms offer opportunities for the actor to learn different skills. The sense of community in my online class is so warm & inviting that it feels like were all actually together in person, and its given me safety in an otherwise rocky year. I am beyond thankful to know that even when things go back to normal, the studio will continue to offer these courses online, so Ill always know, even in the wild uncertainty of New York City, Ill still have one of my favorite places back home to lean on, even miles away. Oh, and the prices are inexpensive in consideration to the level of personal growth youll find as an actor at ANY STAGE of their career (or hobby).P.S. All instructors Ive come across are amazing, but I highly recommend taking Daba (Wayne David Parker) for voiceover or film, OR Kate FOR ANYTHING, if theyre available. :) Break a leg!

Over the past two years my mom has pushed and pushed for me to take a voice over class due to my knack of character voices. Ive done radio dramas before, but never truly had proper training. Since Covid, getting laid off, and all other outlets stripped, I bit the bullet and signed up for VO1.It was great having it be in the comfort of my own home as the class was virtual, and I could record on my own time. This class was interesting, starting off with simple comercials, but a challenge for me as Im used to using character voices, and not just my regular tones. The class was super supportive, and Daba the instructor was helpful with tips on what to do better, and raves about what we did great. I had such a great time that I signed up for VO2, which was what I was looking forward to--Audibooks.VO2 was even better, with longer and challening scripts, I felt that I was able to truly grow as a voice over actor, but sad that they didnt have VO3. Until they shared the news!By popular demand, VO3 is now available, where were going to be working on character voices, accents and dialects, and more audiobook scripts (Ive been leaping for joy since I got the notification as this is what I was hoping to really learn and expand on since Ive started). If youve thougut about exploring a new aspect of yourself, or learning a new skill, or even wanting to try something fun and different--Michigan Actors Studio is the place to go. Daba is the best teacher with professional experience, and is phenominal regarding support, advice, and takes time out of his day to listen to anything youll send him. The Voice Over classes are a place where you can be yourself, for yourself, and with other people that are like yourself. Try it! You wont regret it.

This place is awesome and safe to grow at your craft or even start in acting. They give you all the basic knowledge you need about the art of acting and the business of acting. I have had such luck with the people I have met there in finding jobs because of the professionalism they teach at MAS. The teachers are amazing people who are currently working in the business. Honesty and Integrity is the what MAS represents. Even the seasoned actors come back to re take classes to keep their tools sharp and it just makes for even more of a learning experience that is priceless.

I attended Michigan Actors Studio from August 2009 until December 2013 when I moved to LA to live out my days (I am 60 now) as an actor. What I love about MAS is the dedication of Rich & Rachel (owners) to their students and their dreams. Also, they seek out and hire some of the best working actors to teach such a great variety of classes. This truly helped me prepare for my move to LA where you really need to be at the top of your game. In my first year here I booked several commercials, three cable TV shows, an industrial film, two infomercials, and two stage plays. Anyone that knows about acting in LA knows this was a great first year! All possible because of my training at Michigan Actors Studio. I am soon returning to Michigan to film a supporting role in a feature film and will surely stop in for a class or two.

Everyone is professional and focused. Improv instruction is so much more than other places...you feel accomplished. Stand up classes are different too...stage and writing are one thing, but personal attention makes it better. The acting classes are well-placed, and give lifetime tips. Really cool.

Decide to enroll at Michigan Actors Studio in September of 2011 was absolutely one of the best decisions I have made for my career and the sake of my personal life. Prior to attending MAS, I had taken acting classes at a few other schools which provided mediocre acting lesson for very high costs. Unfortunately, the money and time spent beforehand did not provide the necessary tools to succeed as a working actor because the instructors were actors that had given up on their career long ago. Therefore, the material was outdated as was the information provided to successfully help me get started in the industry. I was attending auditions consistently, but would rarely book a job. I debated giving up on acting after much struggle, but I couldnt ignore the burning desire I had to follow my passion. I decided to search deeper for the proper training that I would need to challenge and further my acting skills. Michigan Actors Studio was the one place that truly captured my attention for many reasons with my main reason being the diversity and highly qualified instructors which are all currently working actors and directors who also happen to continue their education to keep their methods and teaching on point. If you want to know more about the studio and if this is the right place for you, I highly recommend that you check out the website and read about the studio. Also, be sure to read the biographies of all the instructors on the website and you will see what sets Michigan Actors Studio apart from all other acting schools in the state of Michigan.

I would NOT recommend using Michigan Actors Studio if you are looking for a polite or considerate company to work with. I contacted Michigan Actors Studio through their website regarding booking a private acting coach to come and teach an acting clinic. I received an email receipt stating that someone would contact me shortly. I waited close to a month but was never contacted. I tried contacting the company again and finally received an email from Rich. He claimed that his company specialized in exactly what I was asking for. However, when I tried to get a quote from him (we were waiting to get our budget approved based off whatever his quote was), he was not willing to send over a quote for what I was asking for. I followed up several times, but I was never able to get a quote. He finally stated, via email, two months after I initially contacted him, that his company was not interested. I would not recommend wasting your time with this company that clearly lacks basic communication and customer service skills.

I paid 300 dolors for this class and it taught me nothing. Out of the 12 weeks, we only got 2 scrips. We didnt learn anything besides what a Slate is. We play games for an hour. I would not go here if you are being serious about acting. Waste of money.

I have been and continue to be a student at Michigan Actors Studio in Ferndale Michigan. Ive been a fan of the place since I first stepped foot inside its doors. The staff and students there are nothing but the absolute nicest people Ive ever come in contact with. And the support...cmon! You couldnt ask for a better group to be involved with. If I was already finished taking all the classes they offered here at Michigan Actors Studio...Id take them again. The experience is well worth living over and over again, because every time is different then the first, and always as entertaining and educational.

I am a Mexican actress and be part of the MAS was one of the best experience I had in my life. Rich and Rachel they were very professional and dedicated to school and the actors. I remember the day I contacted Rich and he was so sweet and patient with my poor English. He always supported me and motivated me to continue studying. To be part of MAS was my first big step to get in to the American acting and was the best decision. Gracias Amigos!!!!Magaly Castellanos

I dont know what either of these people are talking about. Ive been a student at MAS for almost 2 years now and its honestly been the best experience of my life. All of the instructors are extremely qualified, as they are all currently working actors in the industry. Not to mention that they all know the industry both in LA AND Michigan. They always give great advice on the dos and donts and sometimes hook you up with AUDITIONS! Rich and Rachel are the owners of the school and they are extremely talented actors and fantastic teachers. They have taught me so much. The school offers classes in Acting, Improv, Voiceover, Film, as well as specialty classes like Voice and Movement, Blueprints for Success, Auditioning, ect. They offer private coaching for things ranging from stage fright to helping you prepare for an audition. They also have an improv show every Saturday night called Comedy Sportz which is family friendly.I have made a lot of great friends from Michigan Actors Studio who have taken what theyve learned out to LA and have made careers out of acting. When you join this school its like joining a new family. Everyone is extremely supportive and there for you when you need encouragement. I definitely wouldnt be where I am today as an actor if it wasnt for this school. Ive gotten a lot of work out here and I plan on making my move out to LA sometime this year. With all that being said, I wouldnt listen to the last two reviews because they clearly dont know what theyre talking about. If youre serious about being an actor, this is the school you want to go to!
