Reconstructed by the Youth / Citizen Conservation Corps. Fort Clinch is a good example of the coastal Fort system first established by President George Washington. Fort Clinch is an example of the 3rd generation brick forts. It has a brick skirt wall outside the earthen and brick ramparts.

Low key, very pleasant natural setting, understandable historical presence.

Good history lesson of forts on important water areas. The property is beautiful and there is camping, bike and hiking trails.
