Awesome, we have tried to stop for 10 yrs but they were always closed. They are open Tuesday and Thursday 1pm to 4pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm. I love barns and these were very neat. They housed Belgium horses that Mr Maasdam sold to local farmers. The barns are cement from the ground up to 4ft with heavy bar construction.

This is a great piece of history of Fairfield, Jefferson County and Iowa in the days that farming was developing between horses and machinery.Very well presented!

The Maasdam Barns highlight the 2 industries and the Maasdam family that raised grand champion draft horses in the early 1900s.
