While visiting the Dunkirk Lighthouse, that when it occurred to us why lighthouses are named as such. We initially had some difficulty location the light tower since it was behind this giant HOUSE and blended into the house architecture. The lighthouse is coupled with a maritime museum, so there were quite a few sea junk lying around to pose for photos. The area is well designed with a spacious parking lot for visiting guests.

A lighthouse lover’s delight. Beautiful keepers cottage with authentic furnishings. Friendly and informative volunteer staff, excellent tour. Beautiful location and nice gift shop. Great views from top of the light. Well worth visiting and touring for a small donation. Nice grounds and shaded picnic tables with adjacent parking. I’ll be back to visit again!

What a stunning beautiful house! Woweee, a must see if you are in the area! I could live there. We didnt get to go inside it was closed. One of the care takers let us roam around the property and view all the artifacts. We would love to go back during business hours and your the inside of the house, I can only imagine the beauty on the inside. If you are traveling and in the area, this is a definite place to add to your stops, you wont be disappointed. We loved it there!!!!

Very cool place!! The host was awesome,cant remember his name... we learned alot,plus showed us alot!! Plus got the top of light house!!! Would recommend stopping in to take a tour!!

We had a wonderful visit. We enjoyed all of the details we got from the tour. And of course the lighthouse and house are stunning. God also provided a perfect day...weather was wonderful!

The grounds are well-maintained and beautiful. The boats are cool to see and there are picnic tables with lovely views of the lake. Its a historic and picturesque place to stop, stretch your legs, and take some interesting photos.

Enjoyed my visit to the Dunkirk lighthouse very active people should go check it out alot of activity there. Thank you for the Ghost tour and the investigation.

Decent place to go around Dunkirk. Will love this place if u r a fan of lighthouse (U can buy a tour up in the light house) and its collectibles( they have a antic gift shop), American history of battles (wrecked boats and veteran memorials). Not a great place to enjoy the lake shore though!

Beautifully maintained grounds, buildings and exhibits covering the history of the lighthouse. There is also an extensive U.S. military memorabilia collection from the civil war through recent conflicts.The guided tour was very informative.

Our young docent, Rebecca impressed us with her detailed knowledge of local and world history. Her engaging style and humorous anecdotes made for an enjoyable afternoon on a spectacular Spring morning. The buildings and the artifacts are beautifully maintained.

We wanted to to take the tour but was told they were done at 3, it was 3:30 it was just my wife and myself, tgen about 5 mins later a group of 4 got to do a tour, sign said must have 4 people I believe thats discrimination .... Oh well !!! But staff was very friendly and very nice. 4 star is only because we couldnt do the tour !!!!

The caretakers were very knowledgeable about the area and were very nice to talk to.

Awesome museum of the still active Dunkirk Lighthouse.The grounds are free to walk around, I would suggest paying for the guided tour.10.00 per adult.They had lots of historic items on the ground level of the house attached to the lighthouse.On the second floor of the house they had rooms dedicated to each branch of our military.A lot of items donated from local persons.Lots of personal items from WWI, WWII, and other eras.The grounds were well kept and the view of the lake was beautiful.Would recommend the tour and visiting this historic site.

Lighthouse Dave is awesome. Great tour. Wonderful history lesson. Fun for all ages. Lighthouse is beautifully restored. View from the top of the lighthouse was spectacular. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

Take a stroll around and look at lake. Buy a ticket and take your to go inside the lighthouse.

Closed early, staff was very rude, one almost backed into our car while we were trying to pull into the parking lot from the street. Maybe someday Ill get to actually see it, but until then, 1 star. Poor manners.

The museum and grounds are well done, have historical significance and an amazing view of Lake Erie. While you are there, visit Point Gratiot Park, which is connected to the lighthouse and has the best sunsets in WNY

Cute lighthouse. You can go up inside for a fee i think. It was nice sitting on the bench and taking in the calm sounds of the lake. Super clean restrooms too : )

Beautiful view and grounds. I do believe tour is a bit pricey.

This lighthouse has alot of history and is dedicated to all branches of the armed forces. Our tour guide was great. One thing to remember the people running this are all Volunteers so remember to tip. God bless all that are involved in saving this historical landmark.

We visit this lighthouse every year at this time. The grounds at the lighthouse are very well kept. They also have a very nice naval museum. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the lighthouse.

Scenery is absolutely beautiful. And the lighthouse itself is very nice inside. Be warned though...u may find a ghost or two.

Cute little historic lighthouse with a killer view of the lake! Check if any summer events are happening. We got there with a live band and food trucks! Yum!

Vert cool place. A local guide spent some one on one time with us. It was really educational and the scenery was great.

The tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable. This was a great way to learn some of the history of the area.

Cool lighthouse. Free to walk around the grounds but not free to go inside. There are lots of boats and machinery around the yard to see.

We very much enjoyed our visit. It is a beautiful spot and the people who work there are very friendly. I did not do the tour tho.

Great place for any war history buffs, lots of war memorabilia, as well as history of the lighthouse and Dunkirk. Docent was very knowledgeable. Some womens history, here, too. Great view from the lighthouse.

Lots of history here. War of 1812 started nearby this location. Take time to enjoy the military history exhibits while youre here.

Absolutely amazing! The smaller historical notes were interesting as well. The grounds were well maintained. Would like to come back at night.

If youre interested in the history of lighthouses youll be happy, its small, it has a limited amount of History, but it has a beautiful view of Lake Erie

Beautiful grounds and exhibits. Definitely worth it to do the tour. First floor is devoted to the light house keepers home, second floor each room is a branch of the military. Very relaxing, idealistic sleepy New England kinda feel.

Nice relaxing historical place by lake Erie. Good thing about it is you dont have to walk a lot. Its a small area to be covered. Kid friendly. Has antique boat, anchors and a battle tank !

Spectacular view of Lake Erie from the lighthouse grounds. The lighthouse itself is beautiful and very well maintained, and theres a nice collection of artifacts to view. Inside the museum you can learn more about the lighthouse and the lake, as well as purchase souvenirs. For those who play Pokemon, there are several Pokestops in the grounds, but please be mindful and respectful of the people who are there to take in the view and the history.

Well preserved yet still active lighthouse. Lots to see and learn on the tour not only about lighthouse history but also the military collections housed on site. Loved that we could climb up the tower.

This place is supposedly haunted and has some great information and visually some good sights to see. Going to the top of the lighthouse is an experience in itself and is worth the whole trip. Looking out into Lake Erie and seeing where ships were sank in the wars is pretty neat. Would reccomend to highly see this if you need things to do in the Dunkirk Fredonia area.

Beautiful upstate New York. This historic lighthouse really shows the maritime requirements needed thru time. Spend the money for the tour. Its worth it. Seeing the area from the top of the light house really puts perspective to marine navigation.

Very nice WORKING lighthouse in a great setting.Give yourself plenty of time to look around and take an optional tour of the lighthouse.Or just walk around the grounds and visit the shop as besides all the lighthouse and maritime memorabilia, there are several rooms filled with military artifacts as its also a veterans park museum.Really enjoyed the visit.

Lots of history.

My wife and I had our wedding ceremony here in September. The grounds were abolutely beautiful and well maintained; it helped that the weather was gorgeous as well. Dave the groundskeeper was very accommodating to what we needed and was an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the weekend and in the months beforehand.
