Its simply a beautiful reminder of how wonderful our world is.
A short bridge with a great view of the Detroit skyline and Ambassador Bridge. Its fun to walk along the bridge and watch the ducks and geese floating under it. You can see most of Belle Isle and up and down the Riverview area of Detroit, and even see the Tri-Centennial Lighthouse downriver at Milliken Park.
Nice bridge, but the bike path is terrible. Just a tiny edge on the side of the road that all kinds of dirt and glass gets collected into. Not fun getting a flat in the middle of the bridge, and not being able to safely walk the rest of the way.
I went here with pewdiepie and he say bad word to me.
A great place for taking a run or taking photos
Beautiful bridge!! Great for a walk or run!
What is there to say, its a bridge. It did a great job allowing my car to cross a river.
Great to walk
Love the park since I was a kid and Im 56 years seasoned now. Biking the bridge is no joke. Lol the fountain is beautiful at night with the lights on. Nice family park the zoo nature center etc.
Very pretty scenery. Nice walking paths.
Crossing this bridge is like crossing into another time and place... Some drive walk or bike across. It allows you to soak in the beautiful views of the Detroit River day or nite!
Ths State is not doing a good job of cleaning the island
Cool concrete bro.
I remember the first time I walked across it, after only crossing in a car for years.... amazing views!
This bridge has so much history and yet most will never know it. Some of which is its dark history with suicide and death. The Detroit Free Press Detroit Almanac, stated that in 1935, 87 people had leaped from the bridge to their deaths, a sum no doubt aggravated by the Great Depression, which hit Detroit especially hard. The problem was so acute that the Detroit Police Department instituted a suicide squad to scout the bridge for potential jumpers. In 1938 alone, 15 would-be jumpers were saved. Another hotly debated historical moment for the bridges history is when Harry Houdini jumped from it back on Nov. 27th 1906 as one of this famous stunts. The jump happened, but its the details over whether he was trapped under the ice nearly dying seem to be just fiction as reported by Detroit News and many other sources. There is plenty more fun facts and hopefully this will intrigue you to do your our research. Best part about this bridge is where it takes you to regardless of the direction your heading.
