Small, fun club for live music or just hanging out. Cool patio in back, usually a food truck, decent bar, and pretty good acoustics for shows. Just plan on tight confines, and parking can get a bit weird if youre not early. Wont hold that against them, its still a blast for live shows, always a wild selection of bands from all over.
This place is probably great when its not a packed house, but the stage is so low that when its full you can barely see anything. The bartenders and people were great, though. Good drinks. We went to see THE HU. It really is an all-ages club and you do feel comfortable there. Not shady or anything -- it had a great fenced lot with booze and a fire pit outdoors. I really liked that the bathrooms were inclusive and
El Club is a perfectly sized venue for some fantastic band interaction. It feels like your favorite artist is right in your living room. The sound is really impressive for what amounts to a brick hallway. Big kudos to the audio engineer. If that wasnt enough, they have a selection of drinks that is quite impressive for a venue their size and at reasonable prices too! The pizza by the slice option makes any intermissions a welcome time to refuel rather than simply dead air while waiting for the band. The garden is a great place to chat with friends or snag a few autographs after the show. 15/10 would recommend to any music lover.
Went here to see The Midnight. Place is really amazing and well laid out. They have their own separate area for live music and a bar also there is an outdoor patio with an old school camper that sells food and drink and they also had a fireplace and chairs to sit around and relax. Security was very friendly and considerate along with the bartenders. This is a great place to check out live music and local bands. There is quite an array different genres of music and performers that come in here. Plenty of parking on the side streets and a lot across from the street. Also short walking distance to many Mexican restaurants and a park.
I love El Club! Each time I have been there has been a good time . The pizza is good and good drinks. Great local concert venue and prices are always reasonable. I would recommend getting there early if you are going for an event because the line can get crazy. Parking is not bad either. Check them out for music and get some pizza while your there!
Average urban experience. Watered down drinks. Lots of ice. Good headliners for shows. Shoulder to shoulder space like sardines. Wear comfortable shoes rather you’re male or female. Parking lot has no attendant, either that or street level parking.
Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers
Only problem with the elIs they dance hard..but not everyone dances well.Lot of watching. But incredible sound. .I love this bar/venue
Great lighting and sound for a small venue. The stage room filled up quick and made it hard to get in and see the performers from the bar room. Short people will not enjoy this venue but I enjoyed the show.
Dude I cant believe it took me years to see my first show here!! Great venue, nice enouph staff excellent sound!!! First 2 shows I wanted to see at elclub moved to the Majestic, probably because they got too big. But Ive finally made it, a couple of times even. I expect to see music at this venue much more often now. Excited to see their summer set up, I heard its great, and with a food truck!
I love this club. They have some of the best bands come through here. The place is small, views are great, and the sound is on point. Just a superb place to see some live music.
A small club. My first time being inside. I was chaperoning my daughter who wanted to see a couple bands who were performing. The performance room is all standing only. No chairs. There are a couple of tables in the back of the room slightly elevated. I chose a spot against one wall to give me some back support. There where four bands performing the evening I was there. Water bottles at the bar were for sale for $2 which I thought was reasonable. They also had some coolers and paper cups with free water in a corner. Parking is all on the street. The venue does sell pizza, I had dinner at a mexican restuarant walking distance away. There were crowd surfers during the shows. Not my thing, but they were having fun until gravity won.
This was a pretty great venue. Saw Sigrid recently and had a great time.the venue is inside of an old theater (Broadway style) and has been perfectly made into this venue. Comfy seats in the mezzanine and plenty of space to dance in the GA section.
Great venue for up and coming artists. The drink prices are decent and they even have their own lager! Get your tickets early because shows often sell out because it is a small space. You may want to get there early or you may be watching the show from a screen at the bar
Went to a show here. Was a nice cozy venue, parking was right across the street and free. They have a bar and sell pizza($11-$15 for a whole, depending on the pizza) Bouncer was very friendly and let my friend get his ticket stub back after the show.
I had a great time, I like that they bring Christian Artists here as well (well done!!) They had a few technical issues but who hasnt at some point. It was a fun night.
Really cute place especially the outdoor section, but not great as a concert since it was one room of all one level. We were surrounded by apparently Scandinavian people and could hardly see sometimes :/
Saw Ripe there, I would recommend moving as close to the stage as possible. The sound quality is bad in the back and you will kill your ears, the sound up front is much better, cheap drinks!
Excellent local venue, locates in the heart of southwest Detroit, popular for trendy bands and obscure artists, reasonably priced beverages and has an open patio, ample parking across from venue and surrounding areas.
My favorite venue in Michigan! Excellent patio, fair drink prices, good pizza. The sound is great as is the space. I highly recommend!
The place does not reflect the sketchy looking location ( even though no incident has happen in the parking area). When you walk in the vibe is very welcoming. All ages all different kind of people. The bathrooms were cleaner than alot of other small venues I have been too. And the food truck food was actually good! The drinks were not expensive but not cheap either. My hubby and I will return again and we normally do not go hangout in detroit but for this venue I will be always down to go.
Great, intimate venue. Tasty pizza, friendly staff.
Great venue, nice sound, good audience. Love the whole setup there. Outside firepit keeps it warm and cozy outside.
El Club is my favorite venue. Ive seen at least a dozen shows here and am always impressed. They manage to attract a lot of great sets with a ton of variety and the acoustics are great. All of the staff Ive encountered have been nice, theyve got some nice but cheap signature drinks at the bar, a beautiful patio space, and best of all its accessible. Most events are all ages, the tickets average cost is around 20 bucks, its GA but has some seating, theres plenty of free parking in the neighborhood and its easy to get to from the freeway. I also recommend the pizza!
Went and saw Frank Iero and the future violents!! Cool place!
The outside is a little rundown but both shows Ive been to have been phenomenal.
First time at this venue, it was a so much fun. Photo booth available, bar had some decent whiskey options. Genderless bathroom, great artwork in the bathroom. Even if you dont need to go Id recommend at least a hand wash to check it out. 10/10, cant wait to see some more live music there.
I really liked this place. Small venue but nice, clean and friendly staff. Security was very professional and on top of things. It got really hot when I was there and they had put out free water in coolers which you just dont see at venues much. All in all it was a great place to see a show. Will go back for sure.
Saw Fontaines D.C.!!! Was awesome and they played with a Canadian band Pottery which was also great. Came back to check out White Reaper!!!whos now touring overseas with Pearl Jam. I love this venue. Taco truck, lil bonfire, great people to hang out with, no trouble.
Unfortunately it standing room only in the hall where the live music is taking place but they serve great drinks and good food. Loved the ppl and the whole vibe.
Great venue. appreciated the water supply and the great staff. saw my favourite band here. parking was great and i was happy with the drink selection and convenient tab software. band sounded great too, the intimate size of the room and the anechoic foam triangle configuration on the ceiling helped a lot. kudos El Club
Cool little club in Southwest. Went for their Beyonce x Rihanna night. It was lit up until they stopped playing Beyonce/Rihanna lol but there were balloon decoration with boy bye and flawless so thats a plus. Great murals out back and a pit fire. I would be back again and would recommend to others!
El Club is perfect for a night out in Detroit. We recently went to see our fave local band the Handgrenades perform along with Sam Patch aka Tim Kingsbury of Arcade Fire. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with a coat check and an art deco bar. Sports fans wont miss out as there is a TV in the corner with the game on. The cover was $10 and the drinks were reasonably priced from $3 to $12. They have a vegetarian menu that features fresh made thin crust pizza with creative toppings (cashew cheese with arugula and oyster mushrooms), chili, and more. The bathrooms are the cleanest Ive seen at a night club. As for the music venue, theyve got a nice setup for the stage and lighting. Sound quality was great! The bartenders and Matt the chef were friendly and gracious. We cant wait to go back again!
Amazing small venue, indoor and outdoor bar, gorgeous patio and great food venues nearby for before shows.
Cozy and great artists
My favorite place to see shows in Detroit. Great new facility, and in the summer theres a huge back yard with an RV converted to be another bar.. Cant recommend high enough.
This place has an amazing atmosphere! Decent priced drinks and pizza, production was good, felt safe and secure. Had a lot of fun!
Really cool little venue with a few different areas to hang out in. Theres an outdoor area with couches and a fire pit that was nice and relaxing. The inside is split down the middle into two rooms, one being a bar, the other being the dance floor and stage. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and staff was friendly as well. Would definitely go back!
Great place to see a concert and suprisingly clean .... awesome place for a more intimate concert scene..I cant wait to see a good band there again
Great venue to catch a show, and since its all ages, a safe place to take older children, especially if the performing artist is more mellow. Bartenders even made virgin punch for the kiddos to sip on while waiting for the show to start!
We saw MEUTE here. The sound was incredibly fantastic...and it’s an acoustic band
Love love love this venue!! Was there for my first time this past weekend for Shallou and Slow Magic. Very cozy and chill vibes, such a cool space!! The staff was friendly and drinks were very reasonably priced, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they offer gender neutral restrooms and that folks were respectful. Very much looking forward to going again
Went to the Suicide Girls Black Heart Burlesque Show when it was at El Club. First time there. The sound system is in this place is incredible. They handled the event well. The one suggestion I have for them, if they host a show like that again, the VIP tables/booths should be moved up to the stage and not in the back of the room (just a thought...lot of money for a bad view).
Great venue. Nice grounds, even in winter with the fire pit.Too crowded on the one side though when concert is in play. Incredibly dangerous for a number of reasons.
Love this place!! Went to Frank Iero and the Patients here in July. Small venue and we loved it. Its VERY hot in here but, a VERY personal experience. We got to meet Frank at the end he did a meet and greet with everyone who waited!! Well be going back!!
So...... im done with the El Club. They seem to oversell their shows like the airlines overbook flights, to squeeze every last dime they can out of the audience. Way too crowded, people cant even get in the door, no sound of the band in the bar area if you get shoved out there. I was at a Melvins show there this past year when the Detroit Fire Marshall closed down the gig for being over capacity. I was also at the James McMurtry show last summer when the venue decided to cut his set short and bring in a DJ to have a cover charge dance party, essentially double-booking the same venue to make more money. The people who run this place are money-sucking parasites.
Amazing venue. Fantastic Staff. Awesome bands.
Super chill atmosphere and judgement free. Definitely going back!
Five stars for having all the shows that I want to see. But this is a must-get-to-front-of-venue situation if you want to hear things crystal clearly. Not their fault, though, its just a slightly awkwardly long space. For what its worth it sounds better in all areas of the venue than it does in the best spot in most other venues.
It was a awesome show beautiful venue & always love the family love whoop whoop
Went for the 80s Dance party. Hubby bought tickets off Groupon. Dont let the exterior fool you. Its a great place. Was a bit chilly that night, but went outside to the patio that would be really cool in warmer weather. DJ Dave Paul was excellent. Danced, and partied for about two hours. Great crowd, great energy...lots of fun. Security at the door. Will be be checking for future events for sure.
Small, intimate club - good set up, fairly easy parking, good drinks. First time here and will definitely come back!
Easily one of my favourite live music venues anywhere • Really nicely laid out between two separate rooms, perfect size for smaller, more intimate shows, great sound, reasonable drink prices & friendly enough staff • Standing room only, but good views even from the back!
Awesome venue and great sound. You can pay at the door or purchase tickets online. Atmosphere is great. Drinks a reasonably priced. Only pizza for food but it is good. Parking is a shot in the dark with mainly street parking.
El Club is awesome. Beautiful set up (lights, murals, plenty of seating, outdoor fire), well maintained, lots of space, friendly staff and good sound quality. We watched a great show there, and the venue was clean and organized. They did have a no re-entry policy tho, which was kind of weird. All in all a great place to hang out.
My girlfriend and I came here for a concert and had a fantastic time. Friendly bar service, good drink selection, and great set up for a General Admission type of concert. We will definitely be back!
Advertised a concert that turned out to be a DJ set without the artist advertised. Had it listed as a concert on multiple concert sites. False advertising.
A great atmosphere filled with people from everywhere. I love coming here. Especially for the great musicians that play there.
Fantastic small venue! Great sound setup, decent selection of drinks, and the pizza looked good! Skip a stadium show and go here.
Has the the best sound of any venue Ive been to. The whole place just vibes.
Cool little venue. I would definitely see a show here again.
One of the best small venues ive ever been to. Sound is amazing.
A cool small venue with a beer garden styled courtyard attached. Capacity for the main room is 400. The sounds was pretty good for the Faint (electro-punk music). The bar is in its own room to the side. Prices and selection at the bar were decent, maybe a dollar too high for some options. I didnt see a parking lot for the venue specifically, but theres an ok amount of street parking in the area.
The acoustics were amazing! Well done space! Cant wait to go back
Cool little club. Clean. Decent drink prices. Decent Pizza. No bad spot to see the stage. Good Sound. All around a real solid music venue. Definitely check it out.
El Club has the potential to be a nice club but the Security has no ideal what to do. Communication is poor and it seemed that none of the staff knew how concerts work.
We had our wedding at El Club (Labor Day weekend) and they couldnt have been more helpful during planning + execution. We wanted a venue with a good sound system and huge patio. They’ve got both in spades. I came with a list of venue questions, and the owner (Graeme) addressed them all before I even asked, almost in the order I’d listed them, so I was impressed. They accommodated everything we wanted to do (decor installations, dog attendees, complicated/loosely planned stage schedule, etc.)Had a quick meeting with some of the staff a few days out, and the owner made sure everyone was on the same page. He showed up early the day-of (tuxedoed) and offered to help with set-up/linens/etc. (!) Lighting guy showed us different options for the stage room. Sound guy made our stage program seamless (no small task). Indoor + outdoor bar staff were on their game. We had a caterer make dinner on-site, and Pepez rotated in afterward for late-night pizzas - that worked well.All-in-all, best wedding ever. (obvs I’m biased, because it was my own) There was a lot involved, and I expected some hiccups, but it went off without a hitch. (Or at least, if anything did happen, they took care of it behind the scenes, so we never even noticed.) We’ve been fielding compliments from guests for a couple weeks. If youre considering an event here, Id say - go for it. Glad I did.
Pretty bright for a club. Atmosphere wasnt too bad. Good luck getting a drink though.
Great small venue. Has a really cute outdoor area while waiting for the band to start. Standing room only inside the venue.
Great venue. Perfect size. Good vibe
Nice venue for a show, good layout. Great sound.
Great venue, even when packed. Love the outdoor space and do yourself a favor and grab a slice of the pizza
Great small venue. Drinks are reasonably priced and its in a cool neighborhood.
Intimate shows and great beer specials.
Great venue amazing sound plenty of space and theres always great music. We had a great time
A sold out show yet a fantastic night! Staff, sound, and production were all way above my expectations of this venue. As a first time visitor, extremely excited to come visit for another show again. Thanks El Club!
Very Nice Young Person hangout... 25 to 35 years old...
Really intimate venue. Very cool vibe! Good drinks that are reasonably priced!
On the small side, but fun. Taco truck outside for food, a bar if you want drinks, and a fireplace outside to hang out by
Great venue- nice sound set up, cool bar- bonus food
Great 90s party! The drinks are good and the music was really good. Excellent place for dancing.
Its cool here, just a little small.
Good place to catch live music. Structure is awkward though. A packed show doesnt allow patrons to see performance from bar/lobby area like other similar sized venues. Good sound and acceptable parking.
Played there once, took my teen kid there another time. All ages, all the time. Respectful crowd. Interesting folk from all over attend. My new fav Detroit venue.
Some of the coolest performers/performances here. Good crowd of 20 somethings, good drink selection and pizza. Like the way the stage is lighted, really great vibe always. Cool place to go on a night out. Bring cash to buy tickets on site though, its cash only.
Ive been to two concerts here and its a solid venue for up and coming artists. The bonus is the bar and some seating is outside of the stage area if you need a reprieve from the volume. The Elhae concert was stellar and the sound was on point. Jamila Woods was a great performer. The band was slightly louder than her, but a superb time. I appreciate the promoters getting artists who are on their way to the big leagues.
Awesome venu. Great vibe inside. Staff is friendly.Be sure to come to the box office during hours to buy tickets to avoid fees.
Great sound system. Overall sold music venue
Fun staff and the smaller venue makes for a much more intimate experience when seeing a concert. The food and drinks werent bad either, so its and easy 5 star for me
Great venue 1st time going great experience
Weather for a charity event to help out Detroit Animal Control get dogs adopted. From what I understand this really cool bar with a patio out back has local bands play and some really delicious food on their menu that I would definitely like to come back and check out. I think it was awesome of them to ask the shelter to bring the dogs there to get adopted. I think everybody had a lot of fun bringing their own dogs as well. Really cant wait to come back and check this place out.
Fun venue, sound quality is awesome. Neighbourhood seems safe enough, we ate at a lovely Mexican restaurant half a block away.
Fun 80s party! Music was great but too loud though...
