I am a member of South Florida Railroad Museum. I think it is a way that all should visit and enjoy model trains we are open Wednesday night from 6pm to 9pm and Saturday from 12 PM to 4pm. Come and visit if you are interested in joining the club ask a member we will answer all of your questions
A great little gem. I only resided a few miles away but didnt know it existed for years until the DFBHS (citys historical society) spoke of it. I wish it were more advertised publicly online and posted more visually nearby so that additional local residents and tourists would experience it. You can tell the volunteers love the museum and take great pride in maintaining it. Is it true its only open 1 night and 1 day weekly (except additional special events)?
I know I traveled to Florida but dont remember seeing this place but Im sure its a nice place to visit, as alot of museums are always nice places to visit...
They have amazing layouts. The staff was very nice.
This is basically a hobby shop more than a museum. They have several model train sets on display. The staff is very friendly and they encourage you to look around while the continue working in the endless task of building more tracks and repairing trains. This place is attached to the train station so many probably walk right by it not realizing there is a rear entrance revealing a museum/hobby shop. It is likely frequented by people waiting for their next train rather than tourists. They do have a sign in sheet so you can see how many people have visited and from where they hail. Its not exactly kid friendly as the trains are higher than 4 feet. If youre a model train hobbyist, youll love it.
Cool place with both HO and N scale layouts. Lots of knowledgeable members to answer any questions. Theres a little wooden play train for young visitors too.
Big toys for big boys, this railway museum is located at the railway station on Hillsboro. Fabulous collection of railway memorabilia, as well as two working model trains on very intricate sets. My wife could have spent all day studying the detail of the model buildings found along the railways of yesterday and today. The founders of this gem in Deerfield Beach are the most enthusiastic group of volunteers and are proud to tell all you ever wanted to know about model trains. Hands on coupling circuit board was challenging! Loved it!
My boyfriend knows more than I do about this place... He passes through everyday! Ive only been there a few times! Yesterday, I went with him back there and got extremely lucky see my boyfriend works at the sunsentinal which is right behind the museum and deerfield train station and he accidentally left his phone on a bench there! Well I had it on GPS the whole time and saw that it was not moving at all and nobody would answer it... So it sat there for hours and nobody saw it! We were able to retrieve it! Yay! This happened once before, a long time ago and the people that work inside the museum are always so incredibly kind! They kept it safe for him till he came back! Overall, I would say this place is wonderful! They have some amazing things to look at too if you really like railroad history and/or anything trains ! I definitely recommend taking a pit stop here at least once in your travels of south Florida!
Neat little Museum right next to the train station.
Really cool museum..I liked it
Small museum with a lot of electric tran models. It is fun for the kids.
Nice model train layouts.

Impressive model train layouts with photos and limited memorabilia. members of club circulate to answer questions.nice experience.
I found this hidden gem by accident. My son and I stumbled on it while touring the area train museums. Now both my son and daughter love visiting every few weeks.
Very welcoming and very informative, I would return.
Amazing place !
While waiting for train to Lakeland FL, my son and I saw sign at Deerfield station indicating a Railway Museum. Man outside said its free come on in. We were pleasantly surprised with the content of the museum. Very good examples of the history of Floridas railroads. Many working models and other memorabila and a very knowledable and experienced guide who explained much of the history of the railroad companies routes and other information. He also operated the n scale steam locomotive which was the most livelike display I have ever seen! Definitely going back and taking my grandchildren ASAP.
Fun
Never been but Ive heard great things about it!
Very convenient and fun.
