The first Catholics that moved to Daytona Beach arrived in 1881. Mass was celebrated in private homes a couple of times a year by priests who traveled from DeLand. Daytona Beach became a mission of St. Teresa Church in Titusville in 1886. Mass was now celebrated every Sunday in either the opera house or the armory. The Rev. John F. O’Boyle became the first resident priest in Daytona Beach in 1895.[1] He purchased property on South Palmetto and Myrtle Avenues and built a church in 1898. The Rev. William J. Mullally arrived in 1923 and made plans to build a school and a new church. The school, which opened in 1925, was the only Catholic school on Florida’s East Coast between St. Augustine and West Palm Beach at that time. He built the present church, which was completed in 1927. Construction costs totaled around $250,000.[1] The cupola (dome) and cross on top of the building date from 2006. They replace the ones damaged in the hurricanes of 2004.

Its a beautiful cathedral type Basilica, it was built in the 20s, so the architecture is amazing. They even have a historic section of pictures and relics used there over the years. Its your classic Catholic church with Saint statues and candles you light all around. The only reasons why I gave it 3 stars is because its in a rough part of town, and the parishioners are not as family like as I would like, Its a little cold. The priests are mostly foreign, though nothing wrong with that, sometimes can be hard to understand. You wont find that coffee and doughnuts, everyone get together after Mass and chit chat here, Very few social events. They do hold reconciliation every Saturday, but you have to get there early. They have a 4pm Mass and the priest WILL stop confessions about 20 mins before people start showing up. Ive personally been there and seen only 2 people left in line and the priest walk away. When the guy talked to him to plead, the priest said no and walked away. But these are small issues really. I will always encourage everyone to attend church no matter what. Your there for our Lord and yourself, nothing else matters.

Wonderful faith-based private school. Students partake in Mass every week among other activities. Mrs. Watson is superb and afford the dance team the opportunity to participate in numerous holistic events/activities (dance performances at state athletic games, summer camp with visits to theme parks/hotels/museums etc.)

It is a very large beautiful Cathlic church. It also has a school here. Very nice place for a Big wedding. VERY NICELY DONE AT CHRISTMAS ALSO.

My home church is the best! It is so beautiful. I just had my wedding here and it was the best day ever. The coordinators that helped were knowledgeable and the photos are absolutely stunning. Now that we have the new wedding room it is so convenient to have it all in one building now and it was so easy to get married here. I will have memories for a lifetime.

What a beautiful church! Fantastic daily Mass!

Beautiful but needs the dome inside work on to deadened so old people can hear. The dome echoes so bad that I I can not understand most of the sermons even sitting right next to the expensive quality speakers.

Very historic Roman Catholic church thats a Basilica in Daytona beach. Attended mass and were asked to bring up the bread and wine for communion. Has a nice gift shop.

A very nice traditional church. However the acoustics and speaker system are poor. And when the oriental priest does mass, as seems to be every Saturday evening mass, it is impossible to understand anything.Also, the singer gets drowned out by the organist. Improvements can be made!

The Basilica of St.Paul Catholic Church School is a great school for quality education driven parents. As a native of the central Florida area, I can personally attest the years and decades in which the school has been noted for its excellent quality education provided to its students. The school is open to students of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds in grades pre-K thru middle school. ** The students must attend weekly Mass (with communion offered but not forced upon students)and take a class on religion ( through an Orthodox Roman Catholic perspective)**. Theyve partnered with and utilize the educational teaching standards prescribed by the University of Notre Dame Excellence in Education Protocols.And the current school administration is great!! Mr. Ronald Pagano - the principal is highly qualified education professional, a well known long time Volusia County School District veteran educator & former administrator. And he has made extremely wise choices in the school staff.The school offers breakfast and lunch both hot and cold. The weeks menu is emailed to the parents weekly. And the follow the USDA school menu dietary guidelines. A variety of snacks are sold after school to benefit various student projects.Extracurricular activity choices, of which Im personally aware of include: Chorus, music, Panther Dance Squad, basketball, cheerleading. Though there may be more of which Im not aware of.
