This place is my favorite course in the Salem area. The green fee is very reasonable. I walk the course and it only costs $37 on the weekends ($33 when I play after class on Fridays). Although the course was a little dry when I played at the end of August, I still think it is well maintained. You can tell they put effort into keeping the fairways/greens in good shape. The employees are all nice and I just really enjoy the atmosphere. Ive been paired with people a few different times and each time the other players were courteous, fun, and played the game the right way.
Moved to independence about a year ago and this has been my go to spot. We have made it atleast a once a week thing and literally played the course today. Always fun, well maintained and great course for all levels of play. The back 9 is a bit of a challenge but that is why this course keeps bringing me and my co workers back every time after a long work week. Have been looking for the right course to join and will be following up with a membership very soon. Cant wait to get back out there.
Massive disappointment. Paid 55$ for an early tee time on a Sunday, (18 with a cart). Every single time your ball rolls on to the green or you putt, the ball is covered in sand. Horribly maintained. Extremely slow greens and only 70% covered in actual grass. You rent a cart but you can’t drive them onto the fairways. Very rude employees and not worth the price at all. Pace of play is RIDICULOUS. We waited at least 5 minutes on every single tee box before we could tee off. The guy had the audacity to tell my friend that he shouldn’t bring his 10 year old on the course. WHILE WE WERE WAITING on every tee box for the people in front of us. Will not be back.
The lady working the desk on Saturday morning was amazing! The staff is very friendly. The course is taken care of better then most in our area.
Really nice golf course with lots of challenges in a beautiful setting. Very well maintained. The owners are really nice people also...
REALLY !!!!!! like this place. I live in Otis and prefer to drive another 15 mins to Cross Creek than to play Salishan. In my opinion fairways and greens are comparable if not better half the time. Cross Creek is a much better value. All the staff are GREAT! and it really is a beautiful location and a challenging course. I am 66 and I walk this course. In my opinion it has the feel of a muni but the layout and maintenance of a club. If you have never played it try it. Im sure you wont regret it.
Played this for the first time yesterday. A very good weekend twilight deal for a quality course with several interesting and pretty golf holes. The front nine is forgiving off the tee; the back nine a little less so, though I still felt comfortable hitting driver on most holes. Typically, one side of the fairway would have a hazard or hilly waste area, while the other side would be open. Get too far off the fairway and youre likely to be facing a sidehill lie. Some holes have waterless rock-lined ditches crossing the fairway in the landing zone. I hit into a couple of them and the ball just caromed out. Its hard to see these from the tees.I found that it was easy to miss greens to the wrong side, leaving difficult up-and-downs. Thats part of playing a course for the first time. Neither myself nor my playing partner had much luck reading the greens once on them. Its not that they were unfair, just subtle and a little quick.I also liked that it was a fair layout. We played the orange tees (6,320 yards), and there were no long forced carries required. Firm fairways gave an extra 20-30 yards of roll, and most greens allowed for approaches to run up. It played shorter than the yardage.Cross Creek is about an hour and a half from me, but Ill make the drive back here to play again.
Great fun course. Needs more marshaling. Slow play should be addressed.
Great day. Tough course. Great shape
Excellent course, I try to play here anytime Im back in the Monmouth area. Definitely worth a visit if you havent been there before. Excellent track conditions. People in the pro-shop have always been very friendly.
Good course. Gotta move quick, tight tee times
Played 27 here on Sunday 11/9. I was greatly impressed with the overall conditions of the course. What really stood out, however, was how fast and smooth the greens are now.Ive always enjoyed the layout. This course has a lot of character, and from especially the back nine, where the course winds its way along the east ridge, there are so many beautiful vistas.I was just really pleased with how the greens have evolved, as theyre playing with a little more speed than in the past. It truly brings the best out in Cross Creek.Coming from a guy with 40 years of golf industry experience, who has played or worked on over 500 courses in my life, from Asia, to Scotland, to Hawaii, Mexico and all over the US and Canada..Cross Creek is a great golf adventure. Youll love it!
Course is well maintained and the staff is friendly. COVID has it a bit busy, but so be it. Well worth the time and money.
Nice course. Greens were fine, fairways were a bit shaggy. Could have been from recent rain, so Ill cut them some slack.
First time on the course. Very pleasant and nice.
It was a beautiful course and it was a great experience
One awesome well taken care of course
This place was excellent. Great value, for being able to play the beautiful course. Open enough, to easily recover from a minor wayward shot. A lot of fun. We will be regulars for sure.Thank you.
Great golf course with very friendly and helpful staff.
I love this golf course! Great course, friendly people and a good price. The front nine is a lot easier than the back nine.#15? (first par 3 on the back 9) is the most beautiful hole on the course. When I get there I always feel like I wish I could just stay there with a bunch of buckets of balls and hit for hours.
No A/C in club house. Internet down when I arrived. Otherwise great golf. Great coarse. 98° today. 2 beverage carts never left the parking lot.
Had a great time course was in great shape! First time playing course. Was tough but fair. The pro shop staff was nice.
This is a great place to play golf. I love their ladies league
Nice open course. Love playing there.
I really love this course. Interesting hole layout with much more interesting holes than the typical 350 yard straight par 4. Doglegs, water and super challenging greens makes for a great round of golf.
I finished nine holes and had about an hour and a half left of daylight and it was a perfect evening. The owner/manager had nobody out playing anywhere on the course at the time. I asked if I could give them some $ for like 4 more holes, and they told me that was not possible. We dont really do that. Played and worked at a lot of courses, and they all accept cash for golf. Wont be coming back here, there are too many nice courses in the area with good management and ownership.
Nice layout, good courses
It was fun! Only lost 3 balls! Lol Nice course
Golf course in pretty good shape. I think $50 for greens fee and cart a little expensive. Considering location and course.
Reminds me of my late little brother. RIP Jimmy, hope your playing golf with the greats. Luv u.
Excellent local course.
Great shape for this time of year
In excellent condition throughout, great surrounding and perfect green fee as well
Great course
Nice course
One of my favorite course in Western Willamette Valley. Nice challenging course thats lots of fun. Plus the fine folks that work there do a good job of regulating course play so you can have an enjoyable round. Do yourself a favor and check out Cross Creek.
Great course and friendly staff, hope to go back soon :)
Solid place with kind employees and very well priced beer
Fun track, front and back have their own personality. Front is flatter, more mature trees, small greens. Back has more topography, longer and big greens. Could use more sand but there is plenty of water to mess with you. Bargain green fees.
Great course in the area. Fun challenge - front and back play differently, but the course holds up well in all sorts of weather. The front 9 has smaller greens and seems to play easier, back 9 has bigger greens and some challenging holes. Its good value, lots of bang for your buck. One of my favorites down in that area.
Great golf course with great owners..
Slow greens, ok fairways. They are making improvements regularly.
Great golf course. Challenging holes, but still fun.Staff is awesome.
When I went to post I realized I posted last year about the same issue. Slow play. This time we had 2 groups playing 15 and 2 groups on the 15 tee box. And there was no one on 16 17 or 18. I love the course and the employees/owner but they dont seem concerned about slow play. There is seldom a marshall on the course.
Great day for golf. Beautiful course
Its a great course kinda long but fun. They way over water it in the summer so you sink on the tee boxes. I still love playing there
Great greens... Not real busy.
Always a place to go nice place
5th time playing Turkey Shoot, course is in great shape. A hidden gem for Oregon golf!
Fun track, senior rates on weekdays .
Real. Great place to golf
Still one of the best inexpensive courses around! Great local feel and well kept course.
Beautiful course and friendly, welcoming staff.
Great golf. Not east
Nice course, staff was friendly, a little pricey for me, but priced Right for the quality and length.
We are visitors to the area. The course is interesting, challanging and in good condition. We played 18 holes in a twosome. The first 9 were fairly slow, but, we thought when we turned to 10 we would be able to pick up speed as the guys in front of us were only playing 9. We did not want to play fast we just dont like waiting 10 minutes to start each hole. On 10 we came right up on a foursome. One of the men very aggressively announced to us Well, youre going to have to slow down. We just let one group through and were not going to let any more! We had not said anything to provoke such an outburst nor did we respond. We followed behind them the rest of the way. I dont hold the course owners responsible for their poor behavior. I do hold the starter responsible for putting people right in front of us on 10. Also, it is hilly in places so mixing walkers with carts slows play. We play in the desert and marshalls keep play moving. I hope this information helps as you really do have a gem of a course!
Great course. Winter conditions so a little wet but we really enjoyed the course
Beautiful links type course. A great course that makes you use all of your shots.
Fun course to play. If you are on the fence, I suggest a power cart, it can get long. Nice staff and people!
For years i have been raving to folks about how great this course is, but i just cant do it anymore... 3 of the last 4 rounds we have been stuck behind 5somes, with no marshall in sight. The back nine took 3 hours on a monday, and 5 older women with no golf etiquette held up the entire course. Course itself is wonderful, if you like 5 hour rounds on a monday
The back 9 (havent played the front yet) is an excellent challenge. Elevation changes (some players may want to rent a cart), big greens, doglegs and some tall grass if you are errant. Impressive views.
Weekly round of golf with the guys. The course is in very good shape.
Fun course. Decent prices.
Very enjoyable course. Back nine has spectacular backdrops. Would recommend to any golfer in the Salem area.
Great course. Not to difficult and the greens were very well kept!
Great golf venue. Great price too.
Its wide open but yet challenging and is a fun course to play
We love the course layout. Greens are in very good condition.
Great golf course! Helpful staff.
Fun golf course with some forgiving Fairways very nicely maintained
Open fairways. Good for average golfer.
This course is a gem and a great value!! A challenge for high and low handicappers. The course is well taken care of.
Well maintained. Good open course. Back 9 is even more challenging terrain & quick greens.
Excellent greens... very nice little suprize out there.... not real easy with the wet fairways.. not much release but very fun course
Excellent condition, fun to play
Warm friendly and just goid golf.
Course provides a fair challenge. Over watered greens make putting inconsistent and its hit and miss with the staff inside. Owners and Lyle are good but the rest of the staff are useless.
Extra Star for no homes on the course.
Always a great experience at cross creek
Such a fun golf course.
Nice course
Fun course, friendly staff.
Love this course
Fun course!
Ok in spite of the weather.
Friendly staff
Love it
Nice place
OK place, very casual.
You can play the course rain or shine fairways grass however are a little bit long and greens are slow
