We always have a blast when we go. The staff has been awesome every time. I have been for a wide variety of shows. Every single one has been great. Sound is good, and theres not a bad seat in the house so far.
I went here with a larger group and had a great experience! The theater is small but spectacular, the actors are great, and the set is stunning. The only problem is there is hardly any parking around and since the lobby is so small, it took us two hours to get in. I would still highly recommend this theater!
Great theatre size, very visible. Enjoyed feeling as though we were almost part of the show. Easy seating arrangement. Ushers were very friendly and available to direct us.
The Wyly is one of a kind theatre. It is capable of staging custom setups to match the nature of the play. Even when staging the bigger plays there is no bad seat. Looks good from outside and inside.
Ive loved each performance Ive seen here. The annual production of A Christmas Carol is always fun. The current show, Hood, is an exhilarating romp. The biggest flaw in the experience are the uncomfortable seats. The staff are friendly and the experience is intimate, no matter what seat squirming in. You can pay for the underground parking, but theres a city lot across the street on Ross. That lot usually has a staff person, so unlike many city lots, you can trust the person (in uniform) with your cash.
The Wyly always has wonderful, well-done theatrical shows and I LOVE coming here!! They move around the seating and stage area for each show so the theatre always feels fresh and exciting, especially at times when sections of the audience move during the production like in The Wiz a few years back. Love this theatre and will be coming back for as long as I can.
Went to see Washington Heights. I arrived a little late, so I missed the first scene, but they had it playing in TV downstairs. Afterwards, they walked me up to where my seat was. During intermission I got wine and it came in this little to-go wine cup which was super cute. Only issue I had was not being able to fully see as someone take was sitting in front of me so I was kind of moving my head left and right to get a better view throughout the show. Will definitely go back though and purchase better seats!
I really enjoyed seeing a Christmas Carol here on December 7. There isnt a bad seat in the theater. I will certainly return!
I was visiting from another state and decided to go see a play. This was my first visit. It was a great choice. The seating arrangement allowed for easy viewing of the stage..
The fact that the audience is RIGHT THERE and has the capability to see everything is just spectacular. Also this specific group had the idea that there should be a conversation between the audience and the performers at the end so we actually got to engage in a conversation. 10/10 would recommend
Great facility no matter which stage youre talking about. The shows produced there are too notch and cant be beat in Dallas!
DBDT is amazing (really goes without saying!!) However, as fantastical as they are, this theater is horrible. Nice staff, but it tends to run hot temperature-wise, and I now have to take a muscle relaxer prior to shows because the seats are so awful...my back starts to spasm about 10 minutes after I sit down. (Today was the first time I tried a medical solution, Ill have to work on the timing...)Get better chairs!!! Im willing to lead a campaign to raise the $$ necessary!!!
Nice, intimate venue with an excellent staff excited about the presentations and knowledgeable about the venue. So great to be right with the presenter/scientist and see the enthusiasm growing in our grandson with Doktor Kaboom.Could use some upgrades to seating, or at least a freshening with Fabreeze.
I think I really loved it because of the theater design and its professionalism. Project discovery was amazing as well.
The employees and volunteers were courteous. The theater was clean. We got to see Doktor Kaboom.
The performance of An Evening with C.S. Lewis was great. The theater layout seemed a bit awkward as it was hard to get to and from the seats on the floor. Concessions were way overpriced. There staff were friendly.
I had a really good time here. I went to the Binging with Babish book signing. The parking was close and getting in was really easy. The tickets process online was simple and straight forward. I was able to get a quick drink and M&Ms to have in the theater with me. The only thing that was a bit over the top was that the stewards in the theater were a bit pushy and over bearing. But after watching three different sets of people get moved because they were sitting in the wrong seats, I guess I cant blame them. Still it is a beautiful theater and the talk and signing was great.
Love this theater! I go there to see A Christmas Carol every year. It is fabulous!
The theater looks huge, the productions are super professional, and yet when you’re sitting inside it feels like you have front-row seats. There is literally not a single bad seat in the entire place.
The first time I went to the theater was to see the cruel intentions national tour. My friend and I thought that the theater was really cool. All of the staff were very friendly. I had one lottery ticket to the show and they could not find them on the system, but they handled it very professionally and made it right! We had an amazing time that night.
Loved The Cristmas Carol - amazing talent of young to older with singing, dancing & even a Carol of bells. Gr re at message of Christ from a lovely diverse cast. Totally enthalled.
Amazing performance of In The Heights! Have been for other shows and can definitely see why it won the Tony
Need a better snack selection. Elevators way too slow & seem to have issues. Valet in Silver handed me my keys and pointed out my car to retrieve for myself.
Great experience. Dr.Kabooms presentation was entertaining and enjoyable for kids to learn.
The African American theater is a superb, must-do, in ones lifetime!
First timers...it was really nice. My very favorite Christmas story, The Christmas Carol. We have seen it many times in other cities and states and I always enjoy it. This was not my favorite, but it was done very well and most of the cast performances were very good. Over all good time.
Awesome show for any family of older or young kids. We enjoyed our time there and we planned to go again.
One of my favorite Dallas Theater experiences - In the Heights! The staging, lighting, and level of acting was perfection and since I am an abuelo, I drove 40 miles to get my granddaughter and took her with me so I could see it again!
Great cast and production of the age old tale of Ebenezer Scrooge.
Staff at the theatre are friendly and helpful. They were alert and knowledgeable about the area around for those of us who were not. Thank you everyone! The musical Cruel Intentions was amazing!!
I wish I could give this theater a higher rating because the staging was excellent. However, the uncomfortable temperature (too hot) and extremely uncomfortable small seats took away from my enjoyment of the performance.
This flexible theatre space can accommodate several productions at once. Weve seen the well-known A Christmas Carol here, which seats probably 150-200, as well as more intimate shows (Fade, Red Rabbit White Rabbit, and most recently The Wolves.) If you like a show where you can see perspiration on performers, the Wyly can bring you up close to the action. A bonus: you can take your wine into the theatre in a branded sippy cup.)
We saw an article in the DMN a couple of weeks ago about the playwright, Jonathan Norton and his new play, Penny Candy, commissioned by Kevin Moriarty, Artistic Director.I thought the article was interesting but I was not moved to purchase tickets. In fact, the purchase was a lark, because not much else is going on at the moment.I didnt expect there to be many in attendance and I was concerned that the play might be a little boring or poorly done, both by the playwright and the actors. I was in for a pleasant surprise. The play told a story that seemed believable and the actors were nearly perfect choices for their roles. Based on the recommendation of a friend, we have been pleased to follow Liz Mikel since coming to Dallas, four years ago. Weve never seen her give a weak performance. Tiana Blair, Ace Anderson and Esau Price also handled their roles well. Esau is a heart stealer because hes as cute as a button. My husband and I were both pleased that we didnt miss this performance. Every seat was filled for a Thursday night performance.I need to mention that I found the language a little over the top, especially in scenes where the young son was present. It could be that neither of my parents used strong language as we were growing up, and we tried not to use it with our daughter as she was growing up. Please note: I said we tried, with some success.
This building needs better signage, we walked right by it several times... We finally asked someone for directions and we just so happened to be at the correct place
The plays are amazing and they are do so much for the poor, sick and hungry
I am uncomfortable going out because I have balance issues and dont like being so extra . The support staff, from the moment I entered, was extremely helpful. I attended the DBDTs Directors Choice ! Loved Loved Loved the show!
This theater is an awesome place to see shows. I saw a black history dance and i had a great view. The spacing in the seating area was limited. But overall a great place.
It reminded me of when I performed in Playmakers Playhouse in Maryland. Love it!!!
Comfortable chairs. Its great to see a great show in comfort.
The shows are incredible and they provide fascinating educational tours for students.
We have seen a couple shows here and I love this venue. Great size and good atmosphere.
First time here. We watched Christmas carol and it was amazing?
I have seen some wonderful plays at the Wyly. My issue is with the seating. It is extremely uncomfortable. I always end up with back pain. It makes it hard to concentrate on the performance.
There is not a bad seat in the house. The sets are often creative and reaching out into the seats. Great fun!
Great venue on all dimensions. Very intimate experience.
It was a great experience, i would definitely go back again. Chairs are not the best.
I enjoyed the play tremendously one of the best performances Ive seen at the theater everyone was great in their part looking forward to the next play
We love seeing A Christmas Carol here.
Amazing presentation of A Christmas Carol!
Theatre, seating, parking, staff and bar were all great. Check it out.
It gets pretty hectic in the lobby during will call, especially with the people who are trying to get last minute tickets. The seating is a little bit closer together and wish they were a little more risen. But other than that it was a nice experience
An amazing venue with great seating.
Amazing Theater. We came here to see a speaker give and lecture and was set up for that event. If you go to their website you can watch in time lapse the transformation of the stage for different occasions. Its pretty neat.
Great acoustics..staff very friendly..
This is a must see performance! The actors a highly skilled in their presentation of their parts, the stage was well crafted. Great adaptation of A Christmas Carol!
The best theater! Always a good production.
The parking is about the only convenient thing here. Its very difficult to get to seats in orchestra because there are no handrails while going down the stairs, and the seats themselves are horrific. Too narrow to provide decent lumbar support to anybody whos not a size 2, with very little knee room either. The performances here are generally marvelous, but the audience is an afterthought. And whats with no hooks in the ladies room to hang your bag on?
Great theater. Great play
Saw the last performance of the Dallas Theater Centers take on A Christmas Carol. Excellent job, DTC! The theater is very intimate and well played out.
The tour guide was nice and took any questions that my group had
Great theatre... Great performers.
The design makes it easy for each show to have its own custom stage! The set up is usually different every time in order to enhance the performance. The lime green seats and walls give the place an ultra modern feel. Highly recommended this theatre to every one!
I had a nice time seeing a musical performance here. The only thing I’d complain about are the seats. The ones in the upper section felt like a booster seat.
Our annual Christmas tradition. Raina & I attended a wonderfully heart opening performance of Christmas Carol. Now it feels like Christmas!
Great little venue. Free parking on the street.
Saw Hair here and it was terrific! Great voices and acting and all the production elements were fantastic. The main issue was there was such a large audience and two small entrances. Lots of bottle neck before and after the performance and at intermission
The Winters Tale was an amazing production up be part of. Many who arent are still reaching about how Rick and good the performance was. Some are talking it within there top 5 performances. Wow!!
The place is Excellency. Needs more space for guest to be extra comfortable but its great.
Enjoyed my night at the theater. Went for opening night for Cruel Intentions. The theater is the perfect size allowing everyone good visiblity and attention to the cast. They ar eprompt on their show times. Do not be late or take too long during intermission. This is something I appreciated. The lines were long for beverages so we passed. The play was naughty and fun. Definitely would go back. Note the entrance is on the back side from Ross. Walk around and go down into the theater
Saw Fetch Clay, Make Man, a play about Muhammad Ali in the Wyly Studio. Like almost every production at Dallas Theater Center, it was outstanding and very moving. DTC is a cultural gem in the Dallas Arts scene.
The staff was Super amazing!
A little hard to get in & out of. But the intimacy of the theater was nice. Performances were very good. Really enjoyed.
It was an absolutely amazing experience that all ages could relate too.
Nice theater, very adaptable. Biggest flaw: no bathrooms on the main theater level, you have to go down the stairs or take an elevator to the lobby!
Go every year to see The Christmas Carol. While seats are terribly uncomfortable that is the only negative I have about the theatre. Great staff, great shows!!
Went for a white rabbit red rabbit showing on the 6th floor. The place is very quaint and the scene was very intimate. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The drinks were overpriced, as expected, but at least they came in these cool plastic glasses with a lid, to be reused later.
The staff was great. We arrived early with a storm coming in and they gave us help to get to a restaurant and avoid the weather in walking distance. The theatre itself was intimate.
Awesome theater. DTC puts on some good shows here.
Lovely theater, Ive seen two shows here and the staff are always so courteous and helpful! One note, however--if you like taking the stairs, like me, you wont be able to use them here. The stairwell is more for maintenance purposes and can be very difficult to navigate. The parking is cheap and plentiful, and there are many restaurants and bars in the area to go to after a show. Id strongly recommend seeing a performance here and hanging out in the area for a little while after for a fun-filled evening out!
Simply put, there is not a nicer venue in America to watch a performance of any kind. This is a huge boost to the arts and entertainment district of Dallas, made possible by huge generosity of the founders Dee and Charles Wyly. The parking, the seating, the viewing and even the rapid exiting of the theater were perfectly designed to bring you the ultimate experience as a member of the audience.I highly recommend this theater to anyone!
Great place to see plays. They have many different areas depending on how they want the set to look like. The seats arent very comfortable, but the plays are so captivating that I dont really mind. Pretty place too.
Always fantastic....dont miss any show.
Beautiful Theater Great Performances
Nice and clean. Not a bad seat in the house.
ITS AWESOMENESS IN A BUILDING!
First time there. Great show. Uber there.
Interesting/unique venue. The level names are confusing for example 3, 3A, 3B... Just call them: Ground, Level 1, 2, 3. The way they are labeled does not help at all. The reason for 4 stars.
Nice and clean and very polite people
It was fun. I will definitely try to return next time Im in TX
