Nice moderate trail. Beautiful Douglas-Fir and Big Leaf Maple trees.Lots of old and new growth. Easy to navigate. Mostly flat with moderate incline.
One of my favorites.
Absolutely beautiful area. Love hiking here. You can stick to the roads or hike the trails.... both are nice and peaceful.
Good hike but slippery when wet
Busy but nice trails
Beautiful trail
Stunning enormous old trees.
Wonderful hiking area! Beautiful! Also trails for any level of fitness
Beautiful to walk through. Trails are well-maintained.
Nice new parking lot with very clean bathroom. A great place to walk and explore with your dogs.
Easy trail. Beautiful forest.
One of my favorite places to spend hours wondering in the forest. I love the crisp in the air during fall or spring hikes. I tend to stay away during the dry time of the year since there tenda to be lots of people and hard to find parking at all of the parking areas.
A very beautiful and quiet place, and so close to home.
Saunter ... dont hike ... and take it all in .... slowly .... it is totally worth the time to experience it above and below your normal view .... its the best of what we have around ...
The junction of logging roads, forest roads and well-maintained trails known as the Lewisburg Saddle is the starting point to arrive at the Old Growth and New Growth Trails. They are part of the extensive McDonald Forest research forests owned and managed by OSU, which stretch along almost the entire Western side of Corvallis.A unique aspect of the Old Growth Trail is that it hasnt been logged or thinned like other parts of these forests. The air is clean and fresh, and enormous firs are interspersed with fern-covered maples and alders. Mature undergrowth creates a gorgeous green, filled with huge ferns, snowberries, vine maples and more. The descent on the switchbacks can become muddy, so wear shoes with good traction. It is good for the soul. The New Growth Trail passes through a slightly-thinned stand of teenage firs and is less diverse than the Old Growth. But a beautiful population of Oregon Grape has developed in the undergrowth, and the tighter spacing of the trees creates shadow and quiet.Dogs are welcome on both trails, just pick up after them . Enjoy, absolutely worth repeated visits, and its only about a 15 minute drive from downtown.
Pretty walk, relatively short, good to take smaller kids on.
Nice loop trail in corvallis. About 6.6 miles. Pretty area and well kept trail.
Old Growth Trail feels like a Jurassic paradise. Cool even on a hot day. Short & oh so sweet. Get there.
This is my favorite place to go hiking in the Corvallis area. It has fresh air, beautiful views of the city, and some very magical areas of old growth. If you hike far enough from here, its directly connected to several other high profile hiking areas in Corvallis, which makes it a good starting point, in my opinion.
A short but wonderful stroll through old growth. If youve never seen original forest, you owe it to yourself.
Nice small hiking trail in the McDonald Forest, the trail is easy and has informational signs throughout. Dog and kid friendly.
Good time walking and talking with my best friend
Trails well marked and maintained, beautiful place, feels crowded at the trailhead but not so on the many trails that branch off the main route.
Loved watching the golden maple leaves falling in this primeval forest.
Very pretty
My favorite trails in all of Corvallis! Parking is limited, carpooling is suggested.
Recommended for the old growth trail.
Love these trails!
Old Growth portion is lovely.
All trails are closed
