Definitely a wonderful place to explore. The trees are AMAZING here! Long or short choices on hikes. Well maintained trails and signage. Just, ya. Incredible place for all ages and interests in the outdoors.
Its a gorgeous trail with a few historic sites along the way. The trails are easily switched up to add or subtract length to your hike.
Quiet, lovely, but not clean near the parking lots; bad pet owners have bagged feces then LEFT IT, everywhere. We counted 10 bags, plus Starbucks cups and a glass bottle. Whatever happened to pack it out or Leave No Trace?? Id rather hike away from where the lazy hikers frequently leave evidence of their inconsiderate behavior. I took nothing in, yet cartied wrappers out, left on trail stakes, like decorations. REALLY? No one wants to see your trash. Pass. There are better places to hike.
Great place for a quick hike with good variety. Trails range from easy to moderate and have something for everyone. Off leash dog friendly too.Highly recommend for casual nature walker to intermediate hiker, depending on trails taken.Tip: pick up a map from local bike shop to get a terrific picture of all of the trails - bike, people or horse. Smaller trailhead maps are sometimes available, but the locals know where to go and these maps help everyone else.
This is one of the few places I visit almost every time I make it back to Corvallis. I grew up in Corvallis but moved away after college. There are ponds, reception halls, and trails for all ability levels. I loved coming here as a kid and doing the nature programs during the summer. There are lots of signs for self guided tours and trail maps are available. Pets must be leashed. If youre looking for a great off leash hike, I recommend taking some of the logging roads behind the arboretum. Definitely research maps and trails before hand and bring a compass. The arboretum is fairly novice friendly, but the actual woods the arboretum is part of are no joke. An inexperienced hiker could easily get lost if they didnt know what they were doing. The Corvallis area has some great adventures for the independently adventurous, but the arboretum is a great safe place to experience the outdoors. All in all this is a good place for education and general purpose hiking.
This is a gorgeous arburitum. Accessible, easy to social distance, everyone wears a mask. Lovely fir and maple aprons. The work of OSU forest management is commendable. We are lucky to live so close by. And as always its free of charge.
This is my favorite place for hiking. They have a lot of trails ... just grab a map at the parking lot if you need. Cronemiller lake is nice as you can walk around it on the trail. Trails are well marked and nicely kept. If you love walking/running or mountain biking in the woods, check out this place!
Beautiful and well kept trails. Great place to have a picnic by the lake.
Amazing neverending trails. I love taking my dog here for a decent hike up to the lake and letting him swim. There are endless trails that cover the whole mountain side. You can even do long one way hike from here up to the lewisburg saddle. But there are numerous loop trails to mix it up so every hike there is different.Cronemiller lake is gorgeous and an easy one mile uphill hike from the parking lot. The lake is full of fish but you can only fish there a few certain days out of the year.
This is a great place for walking, hiking and just being. Their are lakes, well maintained trails and plenty of parking.Wheelchair accessible and portable restrooms. It connects to Mac Donald forest, easy to moderate trails.
Love it. It was to hot today but the forest was cooler and beautiful
The best running trails in the area...and dog friendly with plenty of natural water to cool them off in.
Miles of great trails. Lots of beautiful flowers in the spring.
Amazing trails that are the perfect way to get in some nature just outside the city!
Been here MANY times, great place for a hike. Trails for all levels of fitness and experience, lots of info about the plant life and history, plenty of parking and easy to find. I’m so grateful we have Peavy/McDonald in the area!
Great place for a hike with well marked trails for everyone
Nice short hike close to Corvallis.
Lovely rolling hills and walking trails. Even though it was in the 90s, there was plenty of shade to make a 4 Mike walk doable.
Beautiful hikes. Some of the less used hikes arent as well marked.
Great selection of trails and an excellent place for observing wildlife
Great hiking! Beautiful! Aaaaand we found an elephant tree
After checking out the arboretum trails, I highly recommend the section 36 loop, right next door in the forest. Youll get a much more challenging hike with just as much lovely scenery around.
Very pretty place to walk around. I enjoyed reading all the informative signs. I took some beautiful photos the very tall and beautiful trees. It was very peaceful. There was a lot more to explore up the road. I’ll definitely be back.
Many nice forested trails to hike, both flat and hilly. A pond for dogs to play in.
With miles of unpaved trails in the wooded hills north of Corvallis, this park is a great place for a run or hike. Take care to keep dogs on the trails as there is a potential to disturb the ground bees. Overall it is a great place to have a walk in the shade on a hot day, or really throughout the year.
Great place to hike and trail run.
With multiple possible hikes in this area, you walk through a beautiful mossy forest even in the dead of winter. 10/10 recommend anytime of year.
Great area close to town to hike for an hour or an entire day. The trails are well maintained and theres usually plenty of parking available.
Really cool spot to get in an easy or moderate hike, see some Sequoias, an electric pole farm (so weird but interesting), and have a variety of trails to choose from.
Such a great place to wonder around in nature and have an educational experience all in one. The people who manage this land put their everything into making this such a great park. There are a handful of trails within the park that take you through individually managed tracts of land that teach you about different management styles, as well as the many different forest types represented throughout Oregon. Many of the trails include interpretive materials to teach you all about what youre seeing and why its so special. Once youve explored the family friendly area within the park, youve also got access to all of the other trails in the McDonald forest. If youre in central Willamette valley and are looking for a hike, this is the place to do it!
I love hiking this entire area with my family over and over and over again. It is a wonderful and educational hiking area that features easy to moderate and short to long hikes. Always one heck of a day
Beautiful hike/walk BUT I was nipped at, almost bitten by a dog off leash. The rules are CLEAR here... please please please keep your pet onleash here especially if your pet is aggressive!
A beautiful forest. Ive been hiking her for 30 years and always felt safe.
Nice and peaceful nature area, great for relaxing or having a picnic. Checked the pond out and saw some salamanders also found a cute baby mouse walking around.
Im not sure what its like on a normal day, as I was there on Get Outdoors Day and it was quite busy with guest and volunteers. The grounds were well maintained and the wooded areas were beautiful though!
Definitely a favorite walking spot - especially during fall, with all the great color!
The population in the Willamette Valley increases, but Peavy (thanks to OSUs Forestry Dept.) remains a bastion of serene beauty. There are many well maintained trails for educational and recreational use (no motorized vehicles permitted). Great for every age group.
Love and learn nature.
One of the family favorites! Amazing trails winding through a beautiful forest setting. Highly recommended!
Great place to hike around! Very beautiful. Trails are well kept. We were sore for a few days from our 4mi hike. Dogs are allowed off-leash (IF THEY CAN BEHAVE) which is awesome!
Really liked the loggers competition area
I only saw a small part of the trails and forest. There are trails that only hikers can use and others that are multi-use. It was quiet and beautiful. Many of the trees were identified. I enjoyed knowing what I was looking at. There are also a couple of bodies of water. As I said there was a great deal more that I didnt see. It is worth many visits.
Love here
I love that this spot allows dogs to be off leash as long as theyre under voice control. Beautiful location
Tons of trails to hike
One of the best places in the area to go for a nice hike in the woods. Hiking in pairs or groups is highly recommended due to occasional cougar sightings.
One of the beauties of Corvallis. Endless interweaving trails that give way to breathless sights. Old school powder house, small lakes and streams, blackberries, thimble berries, and huckleberries line the trails. Truly beautiful. Hikes can be super short or as long as you want. Definitely my go to spot for hiking. Dogs allowed on leash or under voice command. Most trails are kid friendly.
Peavy Arboretum has a wonderful trail system through forested hills with a guide map with highlight information about the areas along the way. It is my favorite local place to run or hike.
Great place for hikes .
We loved hiking here with our dogs. Always friendly people and wonderful trails.
Very dog friendly. Well groomed trails and plenty of maps.
Great easy or long hikes
Not crowded and its clean, well taken care of
I always get a good run in on the trails, the fun part is trying to not get lost. Maps are available, but there are lots of trails.
Its beautiful and its in my backyard.
Great hiking in nature. Most of the forest is managed, not old growth. Beautiful wildflowers in spring. Many entry points for hiking, biking or just a stroll. Good place to walk your dog but be mindful that most trails are not offleash. Please be respectful and carry out dog waste.
Always a beautiful place to wander.
Great place to hike and take the dogs
Beautiful and peaceful sanctuary!
Nice little day hike
Endless, well marked trails for walking or running.
So much UPHILL (loop #36)! Omg, I thought I was gonna die! But I trudged on and did the whole thing. Worth it! Beautiful view, nodded at nice people on the way. Happy dogs, everywhere (and well behaved too!). Internet says attitude approx 4 miles, but Fitbit says 5.15 miles.Youve been warned.
Beautiful place to hike. I’ve been here twice and it is always a joy. Short and long trails, creeks, and a lake view.
This place is a jewel
Beautiful walk
Great tree info and alot of trails.
Absolute favorite hiking spot in the Corvallis area. Lots of trees, miles of trails. If you go on a rainy day you can have the place to yourself.
Nice trail, took the section loop. A little short on parking.
Beautiful area, very peaceful
Great place to take a nature walk. Up and down grades, a pond, and a great practice course for timber sports!
Great hiking/running trails and scenery.
I really enjoyed hiking in this park! The only downside was it was sometimes difficult to figure out where the trails continued and diverged from the roads that also ran through the park.
Always great for hikes and picnics.
Plenty of beautiful hiking trails with a variety of trees, fauna and flora.
Love this area. In 2 days ive done 26 miles of roads and trails
Fun place to hike with your dog.
Great trees... Nice outing...
Quiet, and a good place to take a nice hike with the dogs!
Wonderful, peaceful place to take a walk or just sit and meditate.
