Dont tell anybody about this gem, 10/10 sights and scenes. I really wish Corvallis city would take care of the homeless. Mother nature ends up taking care of the homely and homeless here. Everybody lives in peace and harmony here. Honestly, I hope this nature park can be kept nature, its an amazing spiritual placeBring your best of manners, and a mask. There is a beautiful rose garden, a historical steam locomotive, and a dino bone yard.Listen more than you speak, nature may reward you :)
Tons of different activities like horse shoe pits out door instruments and play structures. Bathrooms and beautiful rose garden. Swimming at the river with rope swing plenty of places to hang out and best of all a decommissioned train engine. Would recommend visiting.
It is close to home and Marys River Runs Through It! There are some smallmouth bass and crawdads in the river! Nice park nice trails and the Rose Garden! Lots of places for picnics and a playground for the kids! Great place to spend time with your family!
Always beautiful! I love to go just to enjoy the beauty of the park. It hasnt changed much in 29 years its just got better so happy to be back
Big, beautiful park. Picnic tables, big trees, locomotive, horseshoe pit, interpretive signs, the Marys River, lots of room to play sports, restrooms and a gorgeous, wedding-ready rose garden with benches underneath sequoias.
A fabulous park! Something for everyone. Large and open with plenty to do for all.
Beautiful park right on the Marys River with plenty of room to run around, take the kids/pets to play, or enjoy a BBQ/picnic with friends. Lots of shade in the summer keeps the area pretty cool and its a nice quiet place to enjoy some nature. Theres quite a bit of parking all around the park and you can access the park through South town or from the highway.
Igrew up going here. Love this place!!
Lots of pet friendly area. Rose garden is beautiful and well taken care of. And there is access to the river.
Well, it needs a lot of tlc right now. Where have the caretakers gone? Needs weeding. Raking and sweeping. At least its being watered, if automatically. So, 4 stars for the roses. 1 star for the maintenance. Sad.
Ive always loved this park. Its quite large, plenty of space for social distancing. Beautiful park.
Great park for kids and adults. So much to do here. Many playgrounds, walking paths, access to Marys river and a rose garden
Avery park is a great place for a beautiful stroll. Its fairly flat and is paved around much of the perimeter. There are some non-paved trails at the southern end, and river access at the eastern end. In the spring and summer, the rose garden is in bloom, and in fall you can see all the beautiful colors on the trees!
Beautiful rose garden. Large variety of areas to enjoy - playgrounds, open areas, picnic benches, wooded areas.
Great park, lots of space to spread out and play--rose garden, play equipment, Marys River
Great open spaces to let the kids run. Love the dinosaur bones and train to practice climbing!
This is one of the most beautiful parks I have ever been to. The play area was a hit with the kids and the flower garden was gorgeous. There are several sporting fields and LOTS of room to run. You definately forget that you are in town when visiting this park. It is worth taking your kids here for some outdoor fun.
I went to this park as a kid. Its fun to see the train again. The park has been kept nice!
Picturesque and quiet. Playgrounds are open as well as the train and dinosaur bones. Great for a bike ride.
The historical wheel was cool to check out, plus the rose garden is breathtaking! Its got a nice play structure that seemed pretty active and some nice trails to walk. The water is kinda hard to get to, but you can find a way if you look around a bit. Very relaxing!
Great place to walk, sit on the grass or play with your kids.
A nice excursion of forested pathways, a rose garden, multiple play grounds, and river side splashing:)
Nice park with ball fields and a rose garden.
Beautiful rose garden and park grounds
The scenery speaks for itself, beautiful, natural. Live and love life.
Family friendly, large area for added privacy even with many people in the park, multiple attractions for children, great for reunions, beautiful rose garden, etc.
Large city park with several areas for playing, walking, parking, picnicking. Beautiful rose garden as well as play structures for children. Keep an eye on your kids and dont hang out after dark. There seem to be a disproportionate number of frightening individuals passing through the area.
Not much of a park or natural area. As of this review it is swarmed with the homeless at night so be wary of any walks or runs around this vicinity after 7 or so.
My kids and I love playing here in the summer but our last visit (in winter) looks a bit ran down. I do hope they clean it up before the busy season. I always see cops patrolling so very safe.
Its a nice place to take a break while in town.
Amazing place to take pictures and swim and very fun for a family reunion! This place is amazing!
Beautiful and scenic. Very great environment and friendly people and families
Such a wonderful setting. Feels like it is in new England.
Great park with rose garden! Beautiful, green!
Huge open concept park with a train, traditional park playground, easy swimming hole access and modern art play structure!!
The community feel and maintenance are wonderful. The swimming hole is great. We have already gone twice in the last week. So many more trips to come this summer.
Perfect time to visit the rose garden
Absolutely beautiful! Got to take my mom to see the rose park!
Awesome trails around the park with swimming holes along the Marys river
The park is so large you can easily feel lost and it takes many visits over a lifetime to feel as if youve seen it all. The train and dinosaur bones are what defined this park as a child. Im rediscovering it with my 3 year old. The best.
Lovely park family freindly and beautiful rose garden.
Beautiful outdoor area tucked away on the south side of Corvallis. Fun, wide open area for kids to free play, with the train engine, dinosaur backbone, and play equipment for young children.Plenty of parking and picnic areas.VERY muddy if it had been raining recently!
Beautiful trees and roses huge park
Very peaceful. Great rose gardens.
Very nice big and clean
Beautiful rose gardens with decorated arbors. A sprawling wonder of an old locomotive, dinosaur bones and water holes for summer dunking. If your looking for an all around pleasing park, clean restrooms, rental shelters for year round events or just a stroll on the slightly hidden trails Avery park is a must stop.
Lovely park with structures and barbecues available. There are play structures for children and an old train for them to explore, dogs are allowed. There is a small garden as well. Very clean and well kept, lots of trees for shade on hot days. Also a good shortcut from South town Corvallis to the university to skip a lot of busy hour traffic.
Open park with lots of places to relax during this stressful time
It is a nice big park.
Great open areas. Play structures for kids including the train to climb on. Covered picnic areas. Well taken care of. Rose garden is beautiful and smells amazing when in bloom. Good running trail around the park. Couple good places to swim if you look for them.
Have always liked Avery park. Nice open and grassy area. Large with great trails with trees. Good trail with river front and view. Conveniently at the edge of downtown Corvallis. Very nice college city. Recommend for relaxation and exercise.
Always fun to visit Avery. We went to see some of the flooding this time
Comfortable park right off the highway.
Avery Park is pretty great. Theyve got a rose garden, some weird dinosaur bone looking artwork, and an old locomotive you can climb around on. There is also trees that produce shade, which can be very important in the summer. It looked like there was a reasonable amount of parking as well.
Its a peaceful place
The rose garden is in full bloom and the park is beautiful.
Septembeerfest is amazing. Thanks Joel for making this possible. Every year there is new and different offerings. Great family event. Keep it unique and independent!
Beautiful rose gardens.
We had a family event at the Lions Shelter where we ate at this 93 long table. This shelter area is handicapped accessible and has restrooms, several barbeques and a covered sink and eating area. Avery Park is a stunning park with lots of open grass areas, a train engine and dinosaur bones. The Rose Garden is beautiful as well. Park is easy to get to either from south town or right off the highway by Oregon State University.
Liked the rose garden.
Very nice park!
Cool place, very fun stuff for all ages.
Had a nice walk in the park with friends
Beautiful rose garden blooming
Flooding this past spring from St. Marys River. Love this park. So much to do. Dont miss the roses!
Loved the giant picnic table and the train!
My kids love it here.. We call it the Train park..
I didnt see a single dog and it was way to crowded
We stopped here for a little family picnic. It is a great place to bring your kids with play structures, an old train, and dinosaur bones play area. Its also a favorite spot for most dogs. Plenty of large grassy fields for sports and outdoors games. There is a beautiful rose garden that blooms very lively during late-spring/early-summer
Quite. Nice picnic spot
Beutiful rose garden.
Place to go visit their beautiful roses in the month of June that you take amazing pictures with the train is awesome too and the kids enjoy playing in the summertime
Hubby and I stopped here for a picnic yesterday, just to relax and eat our lunch. Different areas of the park cater to different needs. Easy to access, lots of shade and parking. Very green & open.
Beautiful park, plenty of distanced picnic tables.
Great hang out spot
The kids love the train and dinosaur bones. The bones need redone and cleaned for sure. But its free and the trails are super fun to walk with lots of places to swim.
Pretty flowers, trails & riverbank. Watch out for needles & other urban biohazards.
Great park within the heart of the city of corn valley. Why dont other cities have this? Im looking at you Portland.
Avery Park is a very pleasant place to visit, with wide open areas,, and plenty of opportunities to unwind, relax, or recreate. The Corvallis Bus stop is roughly 2 blocks away, and FREE, year round, for anyone to ride. I visited Avery Park to witness and experience the August 21, 2017 Total Solar Eclipse. Although the pictures I have posted do NOT clearly depict totality (as I am not a professional photographer), the near 2 minutes of totality was absolutely awe-inspiring!!
I loved it when I was a kid and I still love it
Prettiest park and Roses ever. Our dog loves this park. Beautiful conifers and play areas for the kids. Its well taken care of. Big and beautiful.
My kids love this park. Lots to do!
Visited this park as part of a day visit to Corvallis. Large tree inhabited, open spaces with a nature center, an interesting play structuren plus an old train engine that you can actually climb on. Beautiful rose garden which by itself, is worth the visit. Flush toilet bathrooms are well maintained.
Always beautiful. Always great.
I remember my times in my youth, my sons and now my grandson is enjoying this treasure! Area is clean, wheelchair accessible, and the long, very long table is a history lesson to ponder upon....
I love this place going with my family and just strolling around the park great Atmosphere and scenery
It has wonderful green spaces to walk or even run around. It has a nice rose garden, a play area simulating a dinosaur backbone fossil, an old-fashioned locomotive, picnic and covered gathering areas, access to the Marys River, and probably a few other things.
Great park for kids! Looks like they have ramadas too with power, good spot for hosting a party. They have a an old full size train that is cool to check out as well!
Loved playing on the bones and train ️
Been bringing our kids here since they were little and now were bringing or grandkids here.LOVE this park! Has an old steam engine train for the kids to play on. Also has a structureof dinosaur bones to climb on. During the summer its packed full of gorgeous flowers and roses. Has a place to picnic and bbq along with the standard playground equipment.
This park is beautiful
My husbands grandfather was a major influence in designing and planting this 2 acre rose garden decades ago as part of the Corvallis Rose Society, which has since disbanded. We visited here while in town on business because this park is always so beautiful and peaceful and brings back so many good memories. A member of the Corvallis Parks Department named, America, helps to care for this park now, and I could tell she loves it as much as we do. I would love to come back again when the roses are in full bloom.
Avery Park has its issues, but the park is a great place to take your kids to play. It has some homeless people that hang out, and can have a lot of litter sometimes, but I feel the city does a great job of keeping it maintained.
