The bartender was amazing and very attentive. She was so nice and stopped to talk a bit with us. Drinks were made well and the bar itself was clean and tidy!
Got kicked out from bar i was born on 01/20/1998 i will be 23 in january. they had no reason to kick us out we had just arrived and were never disruptive. felt profiled. management caused a scene as well in the middle of a performers show. very unprofessional and uncomfortable
A great dive with awesome comedy. Cute patio too. Good beers on tap.
Taking the pandemic seriously, great service, nice facilities.
Prices are a little steep. Two basic beers set me back $9. However, they also have new PBR hard coffee, which is amazing.Sound guy (Nick) is a perfectionist, which makes it great for the audience, but I personally think it removes are the rawness of coming to a live punk/rock show.Biggest gripe is the parking situation. Everywhere has a no parking between hours of ** and ** and is very confusing.
What a great place to hang out on live show nights. Love the venue, love the staff, love the people, and I always love the music. Nick who runs sound is a phenomenal sound guy️. Just an all around great place.
The bartenders are beautiful, friendly and fast. The entertainment is great. And the Vibe is super chill. Good place to hang out, talk, enjoy a drink.
Kind of small for the event but otherwise seems pretty good. Sounded good. No complaints. Its sort of a split space; couldnt really do anything to change how its set up to make it bigger.
My band performed here tonight to a crowd of around forty brave souls. The venue was exceptionally clean and the women working were among the best and toughest in the service industry; also the sound engineer is one of the best Ive worked with.
Trisha (the bartender) is amazing. She always remembers my drink and always recommends things she thinks Ill like. And shes mostly right
Really enjoyed the night here. Great entertainment, tons of friendly people and bartenders were great.
Love the open Mic nights, great atmosphere and the little bartender is cute af
Great bar! This bar has lovely staff and an amazing atmosphere. Great place to get some drinks and unwind.
AttentionTouring bands! THIS IS THE SPOT. This venue was insanely legit . Best Sound we have had on our entire 2 week tour, Nick who runs this place is a total sweetheart and sound gangster. His attention to detail on what you need to hear on stage is insane !- Local bands drew a great crowd here, the locals/crowd were super into everything and with loud applause ! and we had the most amazing time. There is also some wonderful regulars here that can add to the draw which is always ideal on tour ! You will be very happy playing on stage here! Thanks again to The Shrunken Head for a very enjoyable tour stop/show !
Great first time experience here for a show! wonderful bar prices and bourbon selection.
Great Host bar. Always puts on great shows. Bar staff looks great and is super nice. They are always noticing when you walk up to the bar!
Bar staff was extremely efficient. (Saw me standing @ the bar, had me refueled without me asking).Went to see a band with a friend. The resident sound guru, needs a raise! The only negative I can give, (and I really cant give a bad review on account we didnt stay to see if management took action). A mosh pit, (two youngsters), changed the Vibe near the stage.Would I go back/recommend to someone, an affirmative YES!
Great Ambiance with Punk, Skate, and Rockabilly/Rock n Roll Elements and music on rotation. The Company was diverse with welcoming Locals and nice food options. I appreciated the Well displayed list of this weeks events and activities. Will return. #nohaterzone
Reasonably priced drinks and cute patio in the back. It was nice going to a chill bar off the strip.
I play in a band all around town, and for the size that it is, the shrunken head has the best sound by far. Before we even started, we could tell the sound guy, Nick Magoteaux, already did a fantastic job setting up. He was very involved and his attention to detail made the overall sound for us, and the audience, beyond expectations. Great venue.
First time there. Bar staff was fast and friendly. Burlesque show was great. Would love to return.
Cool little place for music if you like whats playing. Pretty good selection of beer. Sound can be awesome, but havent heard enough of a variety to say definitely.
The air conditioning works, the bar service was great, the sound was exceptional and we had an amazing time, as always, at The Shrunken Head!
My favorite venue for local and various national acts. The audio engineer is very professional and the sound quality is top notch. The bartenders were polite, quick, and precise. All around excellent experience and I suggest all to visit this place.
Quick and friendly staff, funny if not interesting open mic night(s?), nice patio!- AND a very clean womens bathroom! For a first impression, Id definitely go back.
I crept in for a little to see what the comedy was about recently . Usually I don’t go to places I’m unfamiliar with but a lady friend told me. I’m not going to say I fit right in but they were super welcoming, never felt uncomfortable, bartenders were cool. Drinks were good . This is literally a everybody place . I’ll be back and might have to do a comedy show myself . Great place keep it up
Figure out which Thursday they have the 2000s (or 1990s) music trivia and go then. Always fun. Starts at 7.
Amazing! Such an open and positive vibe. Great performances from comedy to burlesque! I highly recommend!!
Life is like a box of Chocolates, you never know what your gonna get
Bartenders are awesome
Open mics here are a hell of a way to spend your Wednesday night. Great music (as good as an open mic can be) with a wide variety of acts and performances.Beer and liquor have a good selection.Certainly has a trendy dive bar interior but surely a place with a lot of character (decor and patrons alike)
The parking was not hard to find and the audience was more composed than the previous band members or the current band.
Great drop in and grab a beer neighborhood bar. Awesome music lineup and stage. Fun and friendly staff!
Played a show at the Shrunken Head last week and have nothing but the highest regards for the venue and staff. Service was excellent and the venue is both intimate and spacious for performers and attendees. Big shout out to Nick Magoteaux who handled all the audio for the show as he took the time to work with us in finding a great sound for our music instead of asking us to fit into a preset mold as we have seen with most other venues in the area. As the singer, I have always been self conscious about the raw sound of my voice and expressed this to Nick before the show who then used his knowledge and expertise to cultivate a new sound using delay effects on my voice that left each of us awestruck by how brilliant it sounded. He then took the time to explain in detail how and what he did so we can use it for future shows. I have never met a more personable and professional audio engineer and look forward to the day we get to work with him again.
So fun! Book your band here!
Nice bar, solid drink prices
Flooosies and wanna be rockstars sullied the experience. p. s
Love this place.
Well Pillorian slayed and the bartenders were super cool so, awesome. The venue is intimate and has several sections that afford different standing or sitting options. I highly recommend this venue if you want to see a band in an intimate setting with very cool white staff.
Was here for a stand up comedy night. We arrived a little later in the evening and the way it was set up made it difficult to enter without feeling in the way. And even more difficult to get a drink since we had to walk in front of the stage and around the audience to get to the opening in the bar where people were ordering drinks. The stand up was amazing and the environment was really relaxed and comfortable. Highly recommend this place.
This is a beautiful place for beginners to gain experience in what ever their poison is. It was a very nice atmosphere everyone was very respectful and supportive to each to each other. Hopefully everyone is still around next time I want to jump on stage.
Been here for a couple open mics. Great sound system with staff on site, which is surprising for a venue that size. Cozy place that has a pretty good selection of beer. Has an interesting selection of food. Will definitely be back.
Great place for comedy.
I am from out of state and was having a hard time finding a place I truly enjoyed . I found this place downtown and fell in love with the motif. I walked in and was told that there was a 15.00 cover as there would be live music that night . I was informed that normally there is no cover. I was willing to pay and am so glad I did! The bands were awesome and sound quality was great! Service from the bar was quick and they didnt skimp me on my gin like most places do. The place was filled with patrons in rockabilly wear. The patio has a great back yard feel to it with clinging ivy and a small private area if you dont want to be in the center . If I find myself in Ohio again I will be sure to come back.
Great comedy open mic. Plenty of comics for all tastes.
The Shrunken Head can be compared to Cheers, its your local neighborhood watering hole and hang out spot!!! One of my favorite places to go in the city of Columbus, the atmosphere is lively, the entertainment varies from day to day which includes amateur comedy night to live music, the staff are all friendly and the drinks are affordable!!!
Great music, great sound by Nick Magoteaux, and great lights. Overall this place has the best atmosphere of any bar in Columbus, and is definitely my favorite. Always fun to spend time here!
Fantastic venue for live music and a surprisingly impressive inventory of bourbons. Sound in this venue is top notch.
They had a good show the Friday I went. Their bar tenders are kinda shotty. They have no lock effective on the mens room. They have the BEST urinal discussion board on the block
Very cool bar. Love the live bands and the food is great.
Comedy on Mondays is worth it.
Bar staff was great and drinks were cheap
My band played here on tour (based in Denver) and absolutely loved it. Nick is a killer sound guy and he set up the whole show himself. Great venue, great location, great sound.
Great trivia on Tuesdays!
Great venue very cozy
Cool venue. Good sound, fair drink prices.
This is a great place for music and eats while sipping on a cold draft.
I loved the music and its a down to earth place.
Cool place, friendly staff, sound guy is on point! Parking is a bit schetchy, but the sidestreets usually arent too bad
Great place to watch a show! I saw Black Coffee and they killed it
Very hard to get to the bar on a busy night, often ran out of glasses. Great local shows, just wish I could get a drink
Parking is tough to find... Good luck with all those screwed up parking rules.
Our band, Compass & Cavern, came through and have only positive things to say about The Shrunken Head! Nick ESPECIALLY is the man. Super responsive, great sound tech, awesome person.
Bartender Matt was the coolest. Thanks for a great time!!
A+!!! This place has really gotten it together. The past 4 shows Ive seen there have had great music and a packed house. Nick, the sound guy does an awesome job with the sound, as well as creating a cool environment. But really, their sound is hands down the best out of any small venue in Columbus
A good time
Great local chill spot. The Shrunken Head is part restaurant, part coffee shop, part event space, and part bar. It does all these roles really well. A great place to chill out with your friends for a lazy afternoon, grab some food and knock back a few drinks. Has a really cool little patio that feels like a little tucked away secret garden. Parking in the area can be a bit difficult so you may have to walk a block or two.
Great variety show on first Fridays!
Great place, great people. Fantastic happy hour. Really good shows. Is there any thing else to say?
The first night I went to the Shrunken Head there was a burlesque show. A Church down the road caught fire and I knew that this place would become my home away from home. Ive gotten to meet and know so many badass people here. Any time you can make it out, do so.Comedy every Monday night, trivia every Tues & Thurs, acoustic open mic with the amazing Billy Zenn on Wednesday, live music Thurs-Sat, BRUNCH on Sat. The kitchen with food wizards Mike Wilson and Damian Dowling Sr.There is just a solid staff, all around. Bartenders are attentive and friendly, the sound engineer (Nick Magoteaux) is a damn genius. Five stars and all of these words just arent enough to express how great of place this is.
Different atmosphere
Great venue for live music. The sound is great in there and the bar tenders are really on it. And the cover is almost always 5 bucks. You cant beat that.
Great music. Non existent bartender
Laid back bar, awesome bartenders and amazing food
I love this place. Happiest Hour specials are the best! Live music, patio in the back, great staff (hey Hannah).
The show was great, bar ran out of CBC IPA early. Bartender offered great alternative.
There was a fantastic band, Blaten Finger it was the best show I have seen in a long time
Awesome place for live shows
Wonder Doug show! Loved it. Great bartenders and a chill spot.
Super cheap happy hour. Super cute patio. Good live music.
The best thing about The Shrunken Head is Nick Magoteaux, the audio engineer (i.e., sound guy). Ive played in many bars around Columbus and Nick is in a league of his own. He not only adds his own personal touch to each instuments sound, he is very helpful and makes sure everyone in the band is happy with their sound before the set starts, making the experience fantastic for everyone in the crowd. Nicks pretty much ruined every other venue for me because Ill have to deal with a bunch of amateurs until I get to play at The Shrunken Head again.
Great food and nice people!
Cool spot, great music venue for both bands and spectators, super professional
Great drinks and staff. Great venue for metal shows.
A smaller venue that comes with a short draft list. Four different artists played on one Friday night. Overall a good experience. I would go again.
Great service. I like the environment.
The music was great. We went to see NP Pressley and the Ghost of Jesse Garon. It was difficult to get served though, and we even sat at the bar. None of the three bartenders would look at us or check on us unless we jumped up and down and shrieked at them.
Loud rock bar with an excellent happy hour.
Had a great time last night! Sound was pretty good, bartenders were cool didnt even get irritated with me or my non-alcoholic beverage drinking buddys
Awesome atmosphere
Bad sound, nasty bathrooms. Good selection and good food.
What an eclectic bar. They have an antique perm machine in the entry way, and a cactus tucked around the corner.Burlesque on the 4th Saturday of every month is a nice treat.Prices are average and the drinks are made right.
Comedy show was great, but they didnt have enough seats.
Too small, dirty, and DO NOT attempt to go to any shows here. They are awful from terrible bartenders, to disgusting bathroom, and what appeared to be bugs on the floor. Parking is a nightmare.
Nice hole in the wall with good music
Excellent venue, great owners. We love to hang out there, when in town visiting. Good music, great back patio, wonderful goth like ambiance.
Played there, made friends there, drink there, partied there....I LOVE this spot!
