Small park, few people in the afternoon, children like to play with sand, there are swings, slides suitable for children of different ages. The basketball court is free. There is a small stream.

Was looking forward to checking out the gym and shooting around on the basketball court. Only to get there and the doors are locked and lights off like its closed, even though it says it should be open. I saw a good review about basketball play here but I wonder when they are actually open smh.

Playground equipment wasnt new but was challenging in fun ways for my very physical kids. Beautiful green field for soccer. Needed a clean up in the waterway. Lots of litter.

Such a peaceful place to walk past on the way to five points.

Despite its closeproximity to 2 of the citys most unpredictable areas, in regards to crime and just all around shenanigans, this park is pretty chill. I have gone here many times seeking peace and quiet or time to sit and chat with a friend, and easily found it. There are several places by the small stream that flows through that offer some solitude, shade, and the soothing sound of flowing water. The fountain is pretty impressive, as are the other tributes to the parks namesake. The gymnasium has a lot to offer, as well. I think it and the park are a tribute to the neighborhood.

Lot of hostile-seeming people come walking from this area, I first walked through here late at night while exploring the city and found 3 muggers in the bushes nearby here, immediately saw what they were about because Ive been mugged before, ran right down the middle of Greene Street while one went through the alleyway stalking me. Waved down the city cops but they did nothing. Those robber-types are attracted to this area because of the college kids partying nearby, easy targets for crime. Ironic because USC and the state govt are the only things keeping Columbia from reverting into a total third world hellish crime-ridden cesspool, if they were intelligent and more ethical Columbia residents would go out of their way to help and protect the students rather than treat them as prey. Very bad karma for your city to reward criminal behavior like this!!!
