One of my favorite places to go. Hiking, caving, play in the creek, etc. Some of the trails are completely made out of wood with rails. The rock bridge and Connors cave are fun to explore. Devils Icebox is super impressive, but closed to the public now. Watch for bats. They can sometimes be found under the rock bridge in groups.
Great, short walking trail! Very interesting rock formations and waterways. A lot to see in about 1/2 mile. Only one part of the walk is handcap/stroller accessible. The rest is a boardwalk with lots of stairs. Bring bug spray for sure. And be extra careful after the rain, as the boardwalk is a little slippery and the water in the cave is high. The parking lot is big and has permanent outhouses and trash cans.
Beautiful scenery, not a lot of people, very relaxing. You can take pets but they have to be on a leash. Very very relaxing. The below photos are from Gaines Creek on North side of the road. I also have photos from Rock Bridge Memorial on the South side of the road. They are extremely close together but technically considered too different places.
Gorgeous state park, wonderful area to get away from the house. Are a few overlooks to along the way, beautiful caves and wonderful time
Wow, this is so cool...it was fun looking at all the twisted trees and knots...fun stuff you miss when leaves are on. So go anytime!
Such a beautiful park with an unending amount of paths, trails, flora and fauna to see!
Awesome place. Great hike and I wanted to travel the cave, but I wasnt going to do it alone. Bring flashlights, probably a helmet too. Do not underestimate the dark.
Absolutely beautiful place. Caves, waterfalls, hidden grottoes, raised wooden trails and stairs making it all accessible. The 1.2 mile trail was a good hard stretch with lots of stairs, and beautiful views from the top of the ridgeline. Will definitely visit again!
Devils Icebox is SO WORTH IT!!!Hiking. An amazing cave. Spelunking: you can take the guided tour or you can go on your own, you just have to make an appointment so they know you are going. There are areas where kids are able to come and go. Then there are areas that are much more challenging and are about 6 feet under water. Its up to you. There are maps and markers scattered about but the restroom situation is a porta potty. ..... Worth it. There is a ranger station not all that far away. However, this is not somewhere I would suggest being near dark. Even if you are familiar with the area. There are a lot of drop off points and slippery places you may not be able to see.The forest around the cave is Magic.Rule #1Cardio is good.Cardio is very good.Rule #2If you are from lower sea levels.Dont forget to breathe. Go slow.Rule #3Bring waterHave fun and take lots of pictures!
Really nice park, trails are a bit rough and one had a non existent bridge where you had to figure your own way across but beautiful scenery throughout.
I love hiking here. Just a cool piece of Missouri history. Allegedly? The Devils Ice Box got its name because it was sort of a speak easy type place in the past. Local folk would come here on Summers evenings to play cards, etc. to escape the Missouri heat.Original owners donated the land to the state, to prevent development.
This is a nice little state park just outside of Columbia, Missouri. The Rock Bridge and Devils Icebox are part of a collapsed cave system. There is a wooden half mile trail that takes you to both and is very easy to walk along. There are a few overlooks to stop at along the way with displays that explain the geological processes taking place and the wildlife (bats, trogolobites) inside the cave.
This is an extraordinary park featuring beautiful scenery, and the Devils Icebox cave is especially cool, both figuratively and literally. I hadnt been to Rock Bridge Memorial State Park for approximately 25 years, before my dog Lacey and I visited on July 7th, and I dont remember it being as much of an ordeal to get to the parks main attractions. While the intricate boardwalk gives visitors beautiful views, there are a lot of stairs along the way, so its definitely not wheel chair accessible. It also made the hike difficult for my 9 year old dog. We went down the stairs which lead to the back entrance of the Devils Icebox, but then bypassed the stairs which would have taken us to the main opening of the cave. We also opted out of the walk to see the natural rock bridge, and will check that out during a future visit. The park also features other hiking trails, and is well worth visiting.
Nice walk to see the fall foliage at Rock Bridge State Park. Nice wooden path with stairs or a more rugged path.
Absolutely beautiful! Well maintained paths make it appropriate even for people with minor difficulties walking. Almost entirely shaded, so still fairly cool even when its 90F out, so ok for people with mild asthma or other mild breathing issues. I think they still have guided tours of Devils Ice Box, but should probably confirm with Parks and Rec. Definitely worth checking out!
Absolutely enjoyed our little hike here today visiting the Rock Bridge and Devils Icebox. It wasnt crowded at all, weather was perfect and bugs were minimal. I was amazed by how much the temperature dropped as we descended into the Icebox, guess its obvious where they got the name from. I thought we came prepared with our backpack of water, hiking sticks and hiking shoes but next time we will remember to bring water shoes, towels, and flashlights. Really looking forward to coming back in the fall to see the colors change! :)
This park is one of our favorite places to explore. Its beautiful and the kids enjoy hopping from rock to rock under the rock bridge. We usually do the longer trail but theres a lot of steps (I mean a LOT!) and the youngest was not going to make it and we werent going to carry her. But to get to the actual rock bridge its flat and easy. The park is beautiful in all seasons, even with no leaves on the trees in late fall we found things to look at despite the lack of foliage. If youre ever looking for a free activity close to Columbia, consider stopping for a visit.
DEVILS ICE BOX, NICE NAME FOR A SCENIC PLACE. ITS NOT A TOXIC WASTE DUMP!
Amazing place. The trails have wood paths with stairs making it accessible most people can make it to the Devils Ice Box. Slippery when wet but very cool experience moving through the base of both cave options off of the trial system. Hopefully, you can catch a Caterpillar or a number of bats flying around.
The Rock Bridge and Devils Icebox alone are enough reason to visit. They are each a neat attraction. The trails are well-kept. Be ready to climb some stairs to get to Devils Icebox.
Beautiful area to hike and explore. Devils Icebox, sink hole, old silo, multiple trails, creek.
Really nice!!! The devils ice box is really cool, definitely make sure you park in the correct parking lot though.
It was great being at the Devils Icebox Ive been there before, but its been a long time. Were talking about going back and taking some Fall family photos there.
Great place to hike. Dog friendly. Beautiful. Options for the many levels of hiking from beginning to moderate. My only complaints are that there are a Ton of stairs, some loose boards, and it is very slick when wet.
Very popular but well worth it. Some quiet trails still exist
The park was pretty. The Devils Icebox trail has rails, so theres not a lot of exploration options but it looked like other trails were more open. One of the caves was closed.
Love going for walks with the pupper here, nice and shaded, well kept and have wonderful picnic areas.
Fairly easy hike to take, all done with a boardwalk. Clean kept and simple, this are boasts beautiful natural spots and fun off trail areas such as the rock bridge and devils icebox. Be prepared to get wet if you want to get close to the bridge or explore the icebox though, and bring a bright flashlight or two!
Beautiful park for trail running and biking. Check out the cave system too!
In under 2 miles you can enjoy a cave and a rock bridge. There are several trails to choose from. Youll be glad if you bring good shoes, a flashlight, snacks, and water
Rock Bridge is a great location in a lot of aspects. From well-maintained hiking trails, to the impressive Devils Icebox cave, it is a great place for adventure and fun!
Always a good place to go.
It is a great place to hike, the steps are well maintained and the access to the cave is amazing!
Take some shoes that you dont mind getting wet or dirty. Take some water too. Take flip flops for after your day at one of the nicest spots Columbia has to offer...multiple trails that are easy to follow.
Not bad at all. could use a few more signs. Male sure to study map.
Beautiful place for a short hike. Devils IceBox is very cool.
Super great family friendly trails, cant wait to go back!
Great walking trail. They have woodem stair trail that leads you to the rock bridge and devils ice box. And they also have rocky trails if you like the off the trail kind of hiking. This is basically the only trail my husband and I go on
Beautiful and well maintained park. Caves are awesome.
Lovely, nice quiet place to hike and get away from the noise.
Great place to visit even if you dont have a lot of time. Located close enough to the interstate that its definitely worth checking out even if youre just driving through.
Great hiking trails! Moderately difficult and even rugged in some areas which is just what we were looking for! Decent elevation changes! Creek bottom trails were nice and easy. Saw many people hiking/walking with their dogs, and some hard core mountain bikers! We hiked the Spring Brook and Deer Run Trails all in one day! We were glad we wore our hiking boots and packed snacks and water. The trails were pretty well marked and there were even some connector trails! Saw a baby snake, gray squirrels, red headed woodpeckers, and other birds. Several little delicate flowers were the first signs of spring weve seen this year! Even saw a big cave while hiking on The Spring Brook trail! We noticed the trails were free of trash/litter which was awesome! Very nice restrooms at the trailhead for the Spring Brook trail! Very enjoyable hiking!
The school tour was a huge success at Rock Bridge state park. The tour guides where friendly and very knowledgeable of the park and the animals in the park. The children loved the bats and seeing them in the caves. The trip into the Conners cave section of the Devils icebox was safe and fun also very refreshing on the hot day. I can not thank the guides enough for showing the class around and putting up with all the young children in such a professional and friendly way. I will definitely be taking my family here again.
Great place to take the family and go hiking and enjoy nature.
This is a wonderful park! Hidden gem in Columbia no Devils icebox was a cool cave with creek running through it. You can romp around in it but brink shoes for that! We used trails for running however you could certainly mountain bike. We saw mountain bike riders . Will have to try that next time. !
This is a massive park, with so many trails --- the main one everyone goes to is by the Devils Ice Box, which is a really fun one (and a short one, for that matter), but theres A LOT of trails. Ive hiked/walked here so many times with my friends Ive lost count, but I have covered probably less than a quarter of all the trails. Theres a lot to see, and its an incredibly relaxing place to just wander.
Great place for a hike. Pets allowed on leashes but if you go to Devils Icebox be prepared for lots of steps.
Very cool place. The main attractions are a short hike from the parking lot.
If you enjoy running trails, youll enjoy running here.
Great! Posted COVID-19 regulations and was a great place for me and the kids to get out and stretch our legs.
Awesome cave, cool rock bridge. Nice walking trails, worth visiting
Always a good hike
A great state park with various natural features and trails for all levels.
Always love visiting the icebox.
Awesome natural features! The Devils Icebox boardwalk trail is a must, so long as stairs are not an issue for you. Going in a loop, it takes you to all the best geologic features of the park, including the namesake Rock Bridge formation, and a platform that overlooks a large slot cave opening with an underground stream. On the platform there are lots of informative signs regarding the local cave system, with a detailed map. From there, you have the option to descend the stairs into Connors Cave, which you can see from the platform. The temperature drop was amazingly refreshing. Once at the bottom, with proper equipment, visitors are allowed to wade approximately 150 downstream through Connors Cave if they want.
Highly recommended! Beautiful place to visit!
Soooo very beautiful!!! Pictures dont give it as much credit as it deserves!!! See it in person, you wont be sorry!
Rockbridge is a great park with many trails of varying length and difficulties. None are too strenuous though so dont fret! They are generally pretty good about blazing the trails well but there are some spots where things get mixed up. The scenery is beautiful!
I always have a good time at RBSP. I take my dog out every once in a while to home the sinkhole trail. It can be a bit muddy if theres been any rain, but if thats the case the devils icebox trail is mostly boarded walkway, so theres always somewhere to go. Glad we have such a pretty park to visit nearby.
Awesome trails! Something for all ages and almost every level of hiker! 0.5 to almost 9 mile trails! Amazing scenery.
Great place for kids and more advanced hikers. Lots of trails and places to play in the water.
Enjoyed walking the grassland trail with the Audubon guides. Learned a little and discovered another trail to enjoy. Only complaint was group was a bit large and some of the people spent too much time talking instead of looking and listening for birds.
Very fun adventure.
Lots of walking area, love the nature and cave area. Just make sure you wear good shoes and follow safety guidelines
Quiet, peaceful, nice well marked trail.
1000th woohoo
Great place for a relaxing walk and enjoy the cave.
It was a calming and peaceful place, the weather was perfect and the bathrooms clean.
This is probably the most popular park in Columbia - and can get very busy at times. I tend to reserve my visits to off season or when college isnt in session. That being said, this park is huge, maintained well, and beautiful. There are several trails with biking allowed on some of them. The notorious Devils Ice Box is here as well as a beautiful natural bridge. They also have a pavalion that you can reserve and also has power things to solar panels.
Very cool sights to see. The path was impressive to Devils ice box, basically like a giant porch as a path. There were a lot of stairs but it wasnt a big deal for my toddlers. The paths are well marked and maintained, but the bathrooms arent for the weak stomached.
Its a really cool place, cant go wrong with the devils ice box.
Worth the trip! Bring a flashlight and make sure to explore the Devils Icebox. I cant wait to go back.
Always a beautiful place to hike, read, relax.
Gorgeous scenery.
Great place to hike and explore. Its a huge and beautiful state park and a fantastic place to take professional level photographs too.
Postings could be better. Ended up taking the 3 Mike hike instead of 1.5. but, still great!
Good hikes. Cool caves.
Beautiful and family friendly
Really cool place for a day trip!
I love hiking here. There are so many trails to choose from and they are all extremely varied in both terrain and difficulty
Really nice scenery. I frequent this place often it is a nice place to take the family or picnic. They recently did some maintenance on the walkways which is a very nice Improvement. This place is fairly close to town so its convenient if you need any hiking supplies.
We went to Gans Creek Trail. Its a nice little trail that you can take your dog along with. Just watch for people riding horses and trying to squeeze by.
I have been going here since I was a child and I still am in love with it. Perfect for a picnic and a afternoon out. Many different trails to explore for all skill levels! Enjoy are state parks!
A natural Rock bridge right here in Missouri, and its a short hike from the parking lot
Great area for taking hikes and walking!! Really neat caves to explore plus the Rock Bridge to explore with water running through it!! Lots of trails and maps there and on line to use. Well marked and easy to follow!! Parking is generally no problem.
Such a beautiful Park. I loved the trails. The wooden platforms made it so much easier to negotiate. I hope to get back soon.
Great place nice trails one way walkinf for safely viewing the area
Fun place to explore! Worth checking out
Such a unique geological attraction for Missouri. Conveniently located off of Interstate 70 for a quick detour to do the Devils Ice Box hike.
We love hiking through the stream beds, especially during the summer heat. Most of all, the land bridge and Devils Ice Box!
Great place to see. Nature exposure creates a wonderful experience for all ages. Devils Icebox trail is a must. We enjoyed it!
I cant say enough good things about this State Park. We had an excellent time hiking and exploring. Great for any age as some trails have boardwalks.
If you want to take a scenic walk through the trees, this is the place for you. If youre daring you can even explore a couple caves. One is more open and the other requires a flashlight and a can do attitude. The walkways are well maintained but be prepared for stairs. This is one of my favorites places in Columbia to get away or enjoy a picnic.
Rock Bridge SP is a phenomenal resource. Great hiking, rich history, varied ecosystems, and a full gamut of trail types - from built up to wilderness areas. We really enjoy visiting this park and the adjacent Three Creeks area.
