Great Escape was what I expected from an escape room; fun and challenging. In this day and climate, with COVID-19, its one of the safer activities to do, and precautionary measures were taken by staff to ensure that. Only issue we had was not being able to open one of the locks with the correct combination. This wasted just enough time that didnt escape in time. But aside from that the staff was great, the experience was great, and I would visit again.

My son chose to do an escape room for the first time for his birthday...and I must say it was very fun...good times with family. Really made us think together as a team! Friendly staff!

Challenging and fun. 2nd escape room Ive visited. Most of the puzzles were based on solving combination locks to advance. Different than a previous one which had hidden movements and magnetic activations. Decorated to theme.i would give it a try if you are within a 45 minute drive. Plenty of nearby restaurants to make an afternoon or evening of it.

It was a pretty fun experience. At the time we went, there was only one room to do but I think thats because they had just opened up after the shutdown. The workers (or owners) were really nice and were generous with clues towards the end. The only things I wish they would change are some of the locks that they already know are physically difficult to open even if you have the right combination.

It was fun but even though it was my first one I was expecting a little bit more.

Avoid at all costs. I bought a Groupon and booked a room on January 21st for February 15th. I received a confirmation email, but they called me tonight (FEB 14th!) to tell me my experience was canceled because the room was “under renovation.” No good answer as to why they waited so long to contact me, and the other room is already full tomorrow. Also, who upgrades a room while running a Groupon when they only have one other option? There is no mention of any of this on the website. Galentine’s Day plans are ruined, but from reading some of the other reviews, it seems like we dodged a bullet.

My experience was so bad that I felt compelled to write my first-ever internet review. I dont know the name of the young woman who was on staff that day, but she made it abundantly clear that she wanted us out of there as soon as possible so she could enjoy her Saturday away from work.The room had very little atmosphere and we received no background or briefing. If this had been my first escape room experience, I would have been completely lost. As it was, I was in a group that has done many rooms in multiple locations and we all agreed this was the worst we had done. We were told that a large locked cabinet was from a previous room, so we just need to ignore it. A locked door was broken, so when we were only about 10% done solving the clue to open it, the staff member opened it for us, which completely deflated the enjoyment of all of us.We finished in 27 minutes and used no clues - way too easy. On top of the door issue above, there were also broken drawers which made any locks useless, and crucial information in writing so feint it almost couldnt be seen, let alone read.There are too many good rooms in the Midlands and surrounding areas to waste your time and money on this place. Id give less than one star if possible.

Disappointing!! The staff felt like they just wanted us to hurry up and leave. The room was ok. But the staff... just disappointing. Bought as present for family and the staff did little to no setup and the hint they gave showed they were not paying attention. They could not answer questions at the end, or could not be bothered. The quality of the staff makes or breaks this type of experience.

Staff was very helpful and fun, I’m really glad I bought a Groupon. Good puzzles but really lacking in “wow” factor. If Groupon price was regular price it would be worth it.

Well guys, I took my Dad to Great Escape to have a good time, and was completely blown away with how much fun we had. We did the collector room and it was pretty darn tough but thats what Id rather have than a cakewalk! Deon was a fantastic gamemaster!Anyway, go check out Great Escape, just do it!

I went to this escape room last night and had a great time! The room was challenging and very well thought out. I will definitely be coming back in the future. I also had the opportunity to speak with the owner/manager of the escape room and he was very informative and helpful. He was great and gave us the best experience possible. The rooms are great for families, friends, couples! Highly recommend.

It was fun and just the right amount of difficulty. There are some things that need multiple people to get through easier especially with the time constraint. Great time with friends. Took a star off just because we thought they could do better on the authenticity of the room relating to the theme/story.

Looks harder then you think but it is worth the fun doing the escape for real. Great for groups

I’ve been to 10-15 escape rooms and this place was just awful. I got a deal on Groupon but I should have known that it was cheap for a reason. The room barely had anything in it. We were just walked into the baseball room like it was an ordinary living room or whatever. The girl who took us there pretty much told us how one lock needed to be opened and told us that mission was to find the glove....we were out in 28 minutes.... the room was incredibly easy. If you want an exciting room full of mystery and pizazz - go to the final door in Cayce. It’s worth spending the money & it’s so much fun. This place was not worth the money I paid. Even though it was a Groupon. Save your time, miles and money. Paid $36 for 28 minutes of opening locks where the combinations are literally so easy that the numbers were IN PLAIN SIGHT!I had called ahead of time to ask about the rooms ADVERTISED ONLINE! I’m like hey it won’t let me book this room but it says available - girl goes oh it’s under construction - I’m like oh ok. So I hang up and look for another room. It says everything is booked except the bambino room. We get there and she says that the other rooms are no longer open....so why advertise them?It’s like the staff there just shoves people into a room, and the room is so easy that they only deal with the customers for 20 ish minutes. We have never escaped a room with so much time left. We thought it was a prank.I’m telling you - go somewhere else. This place was just embarrassing

As we like to do escape rooms and have done many, this place ranks at the bottom. No direction or background given, every clue was for a lock, game-master was nonexistent, themes/decor was disappointing.I would not recommend this to anyone.

My Great Escape SC experience was amazing! The game was challenging and fun and will put your problem solving skills to the test. The staff was very friendly and helpful if you need a little assistance they are a radio away. The facility is very nice. I would highly recommend Great Escape SC! You will not be disappointed!

Worst escape room Ive been in. They packed 8 of us in a room that shouldnt have more than 4. All the puzzles were lame and the room was really lame. If youre in Columbia and want to do an escape room I recommend the Final Door.

I have done around 25 Escape Rooms over the past couple years and Great Escape manages to be the worst-- and there isnt a close 2nd.While waiting in the lobby, I asked the staff member if the other room was completely booked for the rest of the day- she responded No. It was pretty clear that we had interest in booking the 2nd room once we finished our original room but her lack of salesmanship/enthusiam/customer service shut that down immediately. Ok fine- Dont take our money. We can always take our business elsewhere.We received ZERO backstory about the room. Gamemaster basically said You need to unlock all the locks and get the money. Good luck! Umm... okay?The room itself desperately needs some maintenance. My group was able to bypass several locks in the room because the brackets holding the locks snapped off unintentionally. The door to the second room (which had a keypad) was broken and the Gamemaster let us into that room before we had even figured out the clues that would have led us into that room. Her springing the door open ruined any type of immersion. Total Buzzkill.Conclusion: Imagine if this was someones first experience with an Escape Room. No way that person would ever want to try this again. I hope this review will encourage potential customers to take their business elsewhere. Several Escape Rooms in the surrounding area are Top Notch. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PLACE. AVOID!

When you book an escape room for 25 dollars per reservation, you expect an immersive experience. We did Casino Heist because my daughter loves heists. This was not a heist. This was a handful of mediocre puzzles in two unfurnished rooms. I say unfurnished because an empty room with a couple of thematic rugs and a few locked filing cabinets and another room with a desk with some shabby props on it does not constitute an immersive set.We had a cabinet hanging on the wall that we actually spent time trying to open before we were told that it wasnt part of the room. Then there was some confusion with our game master over whether or not we actually needed to figure out the code for the lock to the other room. At one point, she was actually in the room repairing an unreadable clue as we were trying to work the room.The only thing that made this room a casino heist was the fact that some card faces were stenciled onto a filing cabinet and they had a couple of money rugs lying around. And the fact that we were supposed to be opening a safe full of money. Literally that was it.What do people do when presented with a safe full of money? They kind of throw a few handfuls of it around to celebrate. So our youngest party member did just that and was told by the gamemaster that he had to pick it up. Which I thought was just flat-out bizarre. Im thinking for the $150 I spent in this place that they didnt bother to build a set with, at least they could have done was kept their puzzles in decent working order, and not expect paying customers to do their house cleaning for them.If youre looking for a good escape room in this town, keep looking. There are three of them that cost the same and are actually worth the price of admission.As for this place, I hope they listen to feedback and step up their game. And if they dont, at least lower their price to reflect the fact that its not a full escape room experience.Sorry, guys. You dropped the ball with this one.

I went with my friends and my family for the casino heist room, and to say the least it was terrible!! You couldve made the room with things from your garage, and when you asked for hints they out right showed you, I also felt it was extremely unprofessional... Try your luck some place you can get your moneys worth out of it.

Great Escape SC is amazing! The room we did was a lot of fun and will test your critical thinking skills for sure! I went with a group of friends and weve been talking about going back to do the other rooms ASAP. The staff is very friendly and helpful if you get in a pinch. If you get a chance to go dont pass it up! You will not be disappointed!

Walking into a new escape room is always a gamble. Sometimes you get a uniquely crafted room(see final door in west Columbia) and sometimes you get a money making enterprise with no creativity, no production value, and simple linear puzzle progression. This place is the latter. Save your money go elsewhere.

The staff was so unfriendly and acted like they wished we would leave. They gave almost no instructions and what little they gave was in a monotone voice. U need new staff!!!

If this is your first escape room or if you have younger kids in your group, this escape room may be decent for you. Other than that, its just bad. Room concepts did not seem well thought out and clues and puzzles did not correlate well. When you receive a clue, a person who works for the company comes into the room, tells you were the clue is and how you should use it, and leaves. That literally defeats the purpose of the escape room if you are going to solve the puzzle for me. Overall, just disappointed at my experience. Ive been to 7 escape rooms across the U.S. and I can confidently say this was the worst room. Only positive was that I was a groupon and didnt have to pay full price for a ticket.If you are a fan of escape rooms, dont go here. If you have never been to an escape room, dont go here. There are better options in the area.

If i could give it a no stars that would be great! We got out with 30mins to spare we got the money and threw the money up in the air and the rude chick told us we needed to clean it up. We paid for a party of 8 And only 6 showed up so they made way more money than they should have. But we clean up. Other escape rooms are so much better. Dont not go here! Oh and we push the button for a clue and no one ever gave us a clue.

I went with my family and we had alot of fun. Wasnt too hard, great for beginners. There were a few technical problems but overall twe had a great time. The staff was friendly and chill. We did the casino room and it was fun.

Loved it!!!!!!! .. Im from NYC.... So the Decor needs more attention..A lil more detail to the theme of the room of the puzzle and clues need to be written darker or clearer. But its a great way to have fun... Need more rooms to escape from. Be back soon ... expecting a lot more..

My husband and I are avid escapees... so we were thrilled when another escape room in our area opened up.We found the themes pretty generic, and after deciding on one, we set forth.we solved our room in approximately 33 minutes, so, unfortunately... not too challenging.We hope that the rooms and challenges expand in the future. but are hopeful that we can bring our children back and introduce them to escape rooms since these rooms seem a bit easier than standard rooms.

Tons of fun very challenging

For our first time and only 2 people, staff didnt give us enough direction to get started when we repeatedly asked to explain how tge game is played. She stated things wrong when she did give clues, like pick up the bookcase when we had to pick up books not the physical bookcase, or referring to the 3 alpha locks in beginning instead of telling us all the locks were in play. We wasted 30 minutes lost, frustrated talking about walking out when she could have just explained things a little better. She could see we werent enjoying ourselves and should have assisted more.

Lots of fun! Very friendly and helpful staff. A great time for both families and groups of friends. Highly recommend.

My husband and I reserved with a bunch of our couple friends to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately, my baby girl came down with a stomach bug. One of my friends that came asked if we can get a rain check or schedule for another room at another time. They would not do it. I wasn’t even asking for a refund, just to reschedule. $46 out the window there. I would never come here and I have been to many Escape Rooms.

At first I wasn’t going to do a review but after waiting and waiting and response from an employee or the owner I was like well I guess this will be the only way to get a response. I sent an email inquiry last Saturday about hosting an event 15-20 people for Saturday Jan 13th. I wanted catering and all. I waited 48 hours no response. Then I called on Tuesday and the guy that answered sound like he was sleep and he proceeded to tell me I’m sorry me and my wife have been extremely busy and that I will get a response in the evening I said okay. Well the evening came and went, the next day, then the next. I called and no one answered. So of course now it’s Friday and I didn’t receive a phone call or an email. I’m extremely disappointed in this business and even more upset that no one could give me a return phone call or email. I could understand 100% if they were booked, but why not call or email and state that. I’ve never booked an escape room but I will be advising all my married friends and family members not to do business with this company.

A lot of fun. We were lucky to have a good group to find the money in less than 60 minutes.

We have done about 10 escape rooms and I have to say this is my least favorite place weve been too. We called in advance to try and set up our rooms because we had a larger group and they didnt have the dates available to book online yet (this was 2 weeks out) Every time we called we couldnt get someone on the phone, we never got a response to our email and I finally received a text back from someone after calling repeatedly during business hours that they were in a meeting. When I told them what was going on they replied, 2 hours later, you will have to book online and its up now. In the 20 minutes of all of our couples talking and trying to book someone else had book 2 spots and our whole group couldnt get in that spot. Finally after getting someone on the phone they moved us to a different time. We drove over 30 minutes to get there and the rooms were not challenging at all! It was all random locks that didnt tie in to the theme at all. We finished one room in 20 minutes and the other in just over 30. Dont waste your money! There are quality escape rooms nearby.

We had a really great time here; it was fun to try and beat the clock and solve the puzzles. It’s an experience that we talked about for days afterwards. Very friendly staff, as well.

Purchased a Groupon for this place and I was less than impressed. There was nothing elaborate or special here like my previous experiences in escape rooms. The room we started in was the ONLY room of the game. Let me save you time and money, grab yourself a couple combination locks, half a board game, some busted old furniture and some homemade DVD’s and you’ve got this “exciting “ escape room. They should have paid me to stand in this boring room for an hour. They only reason this place gets two stars is because the staff was friendly.
