The restored and updated Missouri Theater is a great place to see a show. The theater itself is spectacular, and theyve added excellent sound and lighting systems to really enhance the experience. My primary disappointment is with the seats, which are rather small, so long shows can be a bit uncomfortable for larger people, but that doesnt push me off of 5 stars.

We viewed Mike Middletons semi-biopic, Only the educated are free in the majestic, ornately beautiful Missouri Theatre.Such a privilege to witness an exemplary family legacy unfold, but also to feel the Theatre as part of the community belief in equality and freedom, for all.

Being a resident of St. Louis, I have had the privilege of going to Powell Symphony Hall and many other venues equally nice. The Missouri Theater ranks among them. The interior is lovely and reminds me of an older Grand Dame. The employees were most pleasant and helpful. Thank you for making my first visit wonderful.

Beautifully restored old theatre. Very pristine, historic venue to watch a concert. I have seen 2 good concerts here. There is not a bad seat in the house. The balcony is a fun to watch from as the main floor. Right on 9th street in the heart of beautiful downtown Columbia.

There space us really cramped. My view was completely blocked by a wheelchair that was really really tall. There were other places it couldnt been moved that did not block anyones view of the show. It was disappointing.

Regardless of what show you see, you’re watching it in a GORGEOUS historic theater. It’s a more intimate experience than seeing a show in one of the massive venues in Kansas City or St. Louis. The front of house staff is also pretty awesome!

We attended a concert on a Friday evening. The problems:1. Parking is terrible. Mostly on street and metered (until 7 pm). Very difficult to find a spot. 2. The concessions for drinks were a mess. Very poorly organized and there was one incredibly slow line. Also, after waiting in line forever, paid $6 for the worst vodka and tonic I have ever tasted. 3. Most seats in the balcony have virtually no leg room. ( Seats on the main level appeared to have more room.) 4. Some of the acoustics were bad. We were unable to understand most of what the band members were saying as it sounded very muffled. 5. Way too warm, in balcony area anyway. Would not return.

Awesome place! But dont expect front door parking - which some people seem to (unrealistically) expect. Park in the Hit Street garage (free after 6) or the lot on Seventh Street (free after 6) and walk a few blocks (1-2 minutes) to the theatre. Enjoy!

Amazingly beautiful rehabbed theater. Currently owned by the University of Missouri Columbia. Always fantastic orchestral and other musical presentations at this place. Usually it has food and wine. Concessions. Elevator. Sometimes they do movies. There is a will call and ticket sales, both at location and online. Parking is on the street. The facility is fabulous. A landmark of Columbia Missouri. Definitely you will want to go to this place. Repeatedly. Columbia Art League is also house in this facility. You have the option of using and purchasing some fabulous art as well. This is somebody has a very long history. Please go and check it out.

I have limited experience a the Missouri Theatre as a venue I was assigned during the True/False Flim Festival in 2015.The restoration is beautiful! As I dont live in Columbia now (I did many years ago), I am unaware of the politics surrounding the cost of the restoration and MUs involvement. What I see is a theatre with unobstructed views from every seat, great acoustics - even when the music is a band on the stage, not a movie with sound delivered via a mixing board. I felt privileged to work at this venue of the Festival even more than others. The history is palpable, its as if the building has a spiritual profile. Should I be lucky enough to volunteer at this venue again I will consider it an ongoing honor. It did justice to the films shown there as well as hosting parties! One may only imagine a masquerade ball from decades ago.Like the City itself, the theatre is not just a bridge, but a link from past to present Columbia.
