A beautiful cemetery! The cemetery is huge and it is very easy to get lost because the markers do not make sense. The staff was helpful though and guided us to our location. I have no idea what the cost to bury someone here, but it is great to take pictures and walk around.
Ive only been here once, and it was beautiful. Ill never forget how breath-taking the scenery was, and how peaceful I felt walking the grounds. I only found out recently that someone I knew from years ago is buried here. Id love to come back again and see her. Im sure its in a lovely space.
Absolutely gorgeous! A beautiful place to wander and explore. It’s like a history lesson as well. It’s fun hunting down all the unusual or historic monuments. I definitely suggest planning for a day visit because the place is massive and there is a ton to see!
I like this place because its peaceful, just yesterday We buried My best mans Mom lets call Ma2 because she was mom to Me too. Also buried here is My Grandma Grandpa a younger brothers best friend and more than likely countless others that I know that may b buried here. I can walk here run here stop and read a book here etc.. peace and solitude...
Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum...Magnificent. So beautiful with 733 acres of Towering Trees, 15 lakes, Wildlife, 44 miles of well paved roads, 1000 labelled trees, shrubs, annuals and perennials.Historical buildings, Mausoleums, Monuments, Statues. So much Art and History. A Woodland Preserve within SGC&A. So much more....Impossible to see in one day.
Great place with great community educational opportunities. Last evening we went to the Spring Grove Cemetary Owl Prowl program and met some new friends of the night. Raptor Inc. brought their ambassadors to the Norman Chapel for an introduction. Afterwards we went out to a woodsy area and tried to call some owls where we did get some responses but none that came close. Great program and the weather was perfect with almost a full moon.
Its a beautiful Cemetery they have car shows over there and everything its the nicest Cemetery in Cincinnati
My name is Annette Lynn Parsons I am the daughter of James Lyn Parson (82 at demise)and he is buried here, I wasn’t able to attend his service due to COVID-19. Although we were so many miles away. My spirit was filled with joy by viewing the way they provided extra care and attention to our father online provider You Tube. I’m so very thankful especially to Buddy, Pam and Cheryl!!!
Beautiful place to visit loved ones or, as we like to do, go there and take walks. Enjoy the peace and the history. Lots of amazing history and famous people buried here.
Even on a dreary, rainy day, the artistic beauty of this cemetery could not be dampened. It was hauntingly beautiful and truly worth the visit. I would have loved to visit when the sun was shining and I could have read some of the beautiful tombstones. Most definitely a place I would visit again!
The landscape at the cemetery is beautiful. The staff does an amazing job maintaining the grounds and creating consistency throughout.
It is huge and beautiful, my uncle was placed here to rest and it makes me happy its in a place so beautiful with very respectful staff
An amazingly beautiful place we frequent often.
Beautiful cemetery. Nice for walking! Here are some facts:1. My dad says it’s one of the oldest and largest cemeteries in the United States. He thinks there are only 2 that are larger.2. My mom wants you to know there are a lot of water features3. It’s an arboretum as well4. There are wonderful tours and programs. We did the maple syrup program which was “sweet”!
Very nice quiet shady if you want to stay away from the sun its a beautiful place to be put to rest at my mother in laws service was held there and it was sad but very beautiful
GORGEOUS cemetery. I can easily see why this is a national historical landmark. The grounds are vast and I would highly recommend stopping at the cemetery office to talk to Pam (wonderful, lovely staff member) and pick up some maps. If theres something in particular youd like to see, let Pam know - she is very knowledgeable and friendly. The Norman Chapel is not open except during services and special occasions like Memorial Day, so dont count on that. But theres lots of other sights to see, enough that you could easily spend an entire afternoon here. The grounds are immaculate and the landscape is loaded with lots of interesting focal points: hills, spooky trees, small bridges, tunnels, lonely paths. Tons of upright monuments, a Civil War section, incredible mausoleums, and serene ponds makes this place perfect for mediating, exercise (45 miles of paths!), and just appreciating nature and the peacefulness that comes from reflecting in a cemetery.I cant give this place enough praise, it was everything I was hoping for.
Beautiful cemetery. Houses historical figures, towering mausoleums, and beautiful scenery.
Gorgeous cemetery that is almost like a park. You can drive through and see this cemetery/arboretum in less than 1 hour. Or you can take plenty of time walking and seeing everything if you prefer. Its known to be a serene place and locals take jogs in the park so you wont feel out of place walking around taking pictures. Its easy to get to and obviously plenty of parking so enjoy some time.
Beautiful! Huge grounds that are amazingly well kept. Rented segways for an hour and only made it through less than 1/4 of the grounds. Had never been, and touring a cemetery seemed a bit strange but it was more like a park with monuments.
Always a beautiful, relaxing day spent among some of the most interesting grounds in Cincinnati. Some of the most diverse and old trees in State of Ohio . The original city park! Thank you Adolph Stauch
Great outdoor area. Respectful cemetery that captures natures beauty while remembering iconic Cincinnati history through the many notable people buried here. Picked up some walking tour maps and enjoyed walking around. Saw a few runners and cyclists enjoying the well maintained roads, rolling hills, and abundant shade from the many mature trees.I might need to come back here for a picnic or nature walk in the near future. Beautiful place!
Very well kept and peaceful.
Beautiful place, kind of creepy. Would love to take a night tour.
Spring Grove Cemetery is a significant portion of the Cincinnati history, reaching back to 1845. Its a peaceful place, a site to explore history & architecture, and draws people to get outside see for themselves.
Awesome
A great place to come during Autumn
Gorgeous place to walk and learn about Cincinnatis history. The monuments are gorgeous and there was wildlife everywhere.
Beautiful place for photography, a walk, a bike ride, or a funeral. It seems strange at first that this is such a multifaceted area, but it’s more like a beautiful nature park than an eerie cemetery. Fascinating in every season. The history is worth reading. There’s so much to explore.
Giant cemetery and arboretum. So beautiful, so many different trees and impressive monuments to see.
Beautiful place and an interesting historical tour.
Beautiful, well maintained cemetery. Only criticism is they do not have enough signs for directions to their chapels. If you enter in the rear entrance it is very difficult to locate the chapels as the was only one sign at the entrance.
Beautiful, majestic and mysterious place. Many of my ancestors are buried here.
Beautiful arboretum. I love how they are keeping the community involved and visiting. I have family here as well, so I appreciate how hard they work at maintaining the grounds.
Beautiful! Love the architecture and the trees, many of which are hundreds of years old. Fun tram tour.
Yes, its a place of final rest, but its also a gorgeous walking place and if you make a little effort, its a fun history lesson. There are many famous people, or groups buried in Spring Grove and you can find their unique plots by visiting the office before you begin your travels. Can only walk a litle? Most of the sites are near the road so you can drive near them then make a short walk to see the history in that section.
Quiet, lovely, well maintained grounds, beautifully landscaped. Architecture is beyond belief. Historical value immeasurable. Audubon Society should come here. Many species of birds abound. Cranes, wrens, cardinals, robins, geese, ducks, swans, so many different birds. Autumn in Spring Grove Cemetery... Absolutely Beautiful!!! Spending hours among those who chose this lovely spot as their final resting place for their human remains... The soul must be thrilled at the beauty of it all.
This is much more than a beautiful cemetery & arboretum. I have attended educational programs on tree identification & also local owls.
So many lovely community events here!
I have family there but besides that it is one of the most beautiful places in the city of Cincinnati
This is one of the show places of Cincinnati in that it is not merely a cemetery but also an arboretum. The extensive grounds are beautifully kept, most all the markers are under a contract of Perpetual care, and the mausoleums are works of beauty. There are many different functions held at Spring Grove throughout the year and there are guided tours on trams freely available to the public by reservation. Some of the most wonderful trees in Ohio are located here. There is an Isle of magnificent oak trees. They are attempting to plant Chestnut trees on the very small possibility that one of them might prove resistant to the chestnut blight. But my favorite tree is the Magnificent and full grown American elm tree here. It is by far the largest I have seen and one of the very few Elm trees left from the Dutch elm disease that almost wiped the species out in America. They are also attempting to save some of their ash trees from the emerald ash borer. This is all in addition to stunning statuary on family grave markers throughout the cemetery. When my wife and I want to take a quiet walk or to go for a bicycle ride this is usually our venue of choice. No pets are allowed in the cemetery.
Beautiful, sprawling cemetary. I have my daughter Gabriella buried there. Customer service was amazing. Big issue with moles right now, probably due to earth moving equipment near her grave sight. But otherwise, its where my daughter is able to rest in peace.
I was there today for the going home celabration of Korean War Veteran Hezekiah Perkins, 90, will be laid to rest Saturday at 3 p.m. in Section 137, Lot 318, Space 1 at Spring Grove Cemetery with military honors.. So many individuals came but left united... It was an honor to represent the PGR.
Amazing way to spend the day. Beautiful monuments. The trees are spectacular. Well maintained. You will need a map and bring bug spray.
This was an amazing cemetery! I was blown away by the detailed statues and intricate designs of the mausoleums. It was deathly quiet... lol. No, but seriously it was very peaceful and well maintained. The trees, landscaping and grounds were beautiful.
One of the most beautiful places in the city. just watch out for the guys driving around with spring grove magnets. they arent very nice.
The staff and grounds are awesome and the most helpful. Glad to be a part of the Spring Grove Cemetery family. The staff at funeral home have saved my family many times and Im grateful for their compression and way they run their operation. Awesome job and beautiful cemetery.
This is the most beautiful cemetery Ive ever seen. The structures are beautiful. I never thought I would enjoy spending so much time in a cemetery.
This is a beautiful historic cemetery. It is very peaceful and quiet. At least in the newer section that I visit most often. It is very well maintained. And the grounds staff are very polite.
Beautiful place! Only complaint i have is during the reception i feel staff rushed us out a hour early after paying 500.00 for the room. Others thought the same as well. We also wasnt seved coffee as stated
I enjoy going here to make photographs
This is a beautiful place. The grounds are well kept and serene. It is also a historical place. Even if you dont have a loved one here, its worth a visit for the historical aspects and beauty. Such a peaceful, serene, beautiful place in the middle of a nasty city.
Very disappointed that we can NO longer decorate our parents, grand parents, uncles and many other family members graves. With nice artificial flowers and holiday theme decorations anymore!!! SHAME ON YOU FOR NOT ALLOWING FAMILYS TO HONOR THEIR LOVE ONES..... Bobbie Jo (Barber) Watson
Stunning, beautiful, amazing are just a few words to describe this experience. The staff was very helpful. The ground was naturally immaculate. I wish I would have had days to explore. The best cemetery Ive been to.
Absolutely beautiful place!
Fascinating history, beautiful grounds.
I’ve only experienced a funeral service for a family member here once. It was beautifully done and respectful. This is where my grandmother will he buried and probably where I’d like to rest. Spring Grove is beautiful and the history is amazing. This place is large enough to give you lots of options for your service. This cemetery is also just a great place for the community. They allow bike riding and you can feed ducks at the ponds. The Chapel offers events every so often. We recently attended Chocolate in the Chapel. It was free to attend, you simply had to RSVP. While they were very strict about start time and check-in last year, this year was very laid back (no one asked for our name and we were allowed in before the event officially started). It became very busy and crowded very fast (as did last year). This event was a great way to showcase local bakeries and chocolatiers. Everyone had samples (except for one table) and then products to purchase so you could taste before you’d buy! My personal favorite was Chocolate Latour - every Truffle and bar is rich and exquisite!
One can argue that it is the most peaceful place in Cincinnati. It gets even more quieter as one goes to the lots in the back. One can run here, enjoy the architecture of the gravestones and mausoleums, meditate on dash between birth and death dates called as life, take some pictures, etc. This place has something for most people. One of the drawbacks is that it closes at 6 pm for most days of the week. May be they dont want us to wake up the dwellers.
I have many, many family members have been buried at this cemetery. Even had one buried as of July 7, 2016. This is the most peaceful cemetery and also the most beautiful I have ever seen. Anytime I go visit loved ones that feel at peace. I will also be buried here some day.
Samantha Brown and all the staff are caring and resepectfull, I highly recommend them, especially Samantha
Beautifully kept grounds. Ornate head stones and crypts. Great place for photography. Historically famous people are buried here.
I worked in there when I was employed by Lewin Monument co of Fort Mitchell My. It is more like a park .then a cemetery. The most beautiful place Ive ever worked. when my time comes Id feel honored to placed there..But I guess Ill stay .in West Virginia.
This is a beautiful cemetery and arboretum. You can spend all day hiking around and checking out the beautiful old trees that are planted throughout the old part of the cemetery.
Got to see a glimpse of this gorgeous cemetery today. Definitely will be visiting again in the spring/summer. The grounds are a must see.
Well kept and professionally managed.
This cementery is just amazing. I actually walked 4 miles while I was here without knowing it! If you want to see a lot of cool gravestones and get excersize, this is the place.
So very well taken care of. Beautiful landscaping. And, the history attached to the cemetery.
Great for just walking.
Our family plot is an Entire Peninsula on the Lake/Pond ! Enough for about 300 People !! Look for our Marble Monument !
Love love love. A Cincinnati institution. If you have not gone to see the beauty here....take a tour. It is beautiful any time of the year.
Return the headstone. It would be a shame not to. She served our county and was willing to give her life so that we may live free.Im sure and have read somebody must have approved the headstone before installation....Please put it back.My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Great place to really spend a few hours and relax. Lots of places to picnic. Lots of incredible grave stones and buildings.
The most beautiful cemetery Ive ever seen. Full of history. A must see in Cincinnati.
Its not that Cincinnati is weird for liking this cemetery so much; its just that this cemetery is adored for its beauty and landscape universally
Great place to walk...
I think this company will not be getting the use of my families money. I do have 7 family members who all have arrangements set for this cemetery but since hearing how they removed an American heros stone all because it didnt fit even though theyre people helped pick out the headstone. This is a disgrace and Shame on you Spring Grove. This family will be having a family meeting to make other arrangements for our future loved ones.SHAME ON SPRING GROVE MAY GOD HAVE MERCY AND NONE OF YOUR OWNERS HAVE THIS TYPE OF LOSS!
The largest and most beautiful cemetery I have ever seen. Also a great place to walk and letterbox.
Nice cemetery but i hate how my mother and my auntie cant have flowers on their graves for more than a couple days i put fresh flowers out for them and when i went back 2 days later the flowers were gone i wish they would keep their damn hands off of their flowers
Its a beautiful and peaceful place. An arboretum, there are many beautiful specimen trees and plantings.
Beautiful place to visit and enjoy.
The most beautiful cemetery Ive ever seen. It is truly beyond words
Spring Grove Cemetery opened in the mid 19th century and has long been one of the best examples of landscape cemetery design in the world. The Cemetery is also quite large, with over 700 acres, there are paths throughout that allow one to drive, ride, or walk around the grounds. Many famous Cincinnatians are buried here and the variety and quality of the monuments is stunning.
The cemetery is so pretty and I loved the history and the people at the office are very nice.
Very pretty and peaceful place. Did the segway tour. It was awesome!
Very beautiful. Dogs allowed once a year in the surrounding entertainment was fun
Weve had lovely services for family members here, memorable
Like working with Mrs.Debra n Mrs.Oday
Amazing Park, and cemetery.Historical monument. Very old and perfectly maintained.
Beautiful fall colors. Great place to walk/jog.
Beautiful and serene, staff is very involved in community, offered water bottles to people walling along the paths.
Its a beautiful place great employees and lot of historical people and most importantly its a beautiful resting place for my mom
This place should be ashamed of themselves to remove a wish from a DEAD soldier, its distasteful and it is dishonorable.... First they say that the Walkers family could put up the headstone to honor Kimberly, now they take it down... this makes me sick
Very nice place to have a little hike in said the city
I appreciate this beautiful and historic landmark. While the controversial headstones would not be my choice, I congratulate the management for finding a compromise solution which balances the sensibilities of the young soldiers family and the families of countless others whos loved ones rest here.
Most certainly one of the most beautiful cemeteries that I have ever been to.
Very historical and easy to locate area by following colored routes on roads
Sh*tbags. Must be run by hippie anti-war Liberals. Maybe the Management should offer free plots to the members of the Westboro Baptist Church, seeing as how they like Traditional so much.
