A group of us went to the highway of horror event and had a great time! the globes do make it more comfortable to be outside and the actors were all awesome! It started a little late because there was a medical emergency from the showing before and everyone thanked us for being patient although it was no ones fault. Great event, great service
Im currently parked in a poorly marked lot on Mad[d]ison Ave, waiting my fifty third minute for this haunted house (that is by all appearances just a really bad drive in movie set up) to start, while listening to the audio/visual crew figure out how to play the movie. I saw Beetlejuice last night for thirty dollars; I can already tell that this is not more than twice as good as Beetlejuice, which is a pretty low bar.
My friends and I were excited about this . While we waited in line for what they referred to as the Show there were monsters that came out to rock your car which helped build the anticipation before getting to the area for the haunt. We were directed to turn our radio to a specific FM station for the sound effects. We were then directed to this small area behind two cars . The area was large enough for 4 cars snuggled in. There was a screen that showed various scary movie clips . The same monsters that were shaking our car while we were waiting were the same ones in this cramped area. They promised blood and monsters. There were maybe a total of five monsters that were trying to scare all of the cars at the same time. After 20 minutes, we were told to reverse back. We asked if this was the preshow before the haunt and where were the other monsters. They advised that the cramped area was in fact the show and thanked us for coming. I understand that were during a pandemic but this was definitely not worth the time or money. The most frightening thing is there were no refunds.
Highway of horror was decent. It’s a little over priced, but overall my kids were scared. It’s best to go with kids who scare easily or really funny adults who scare easily to make the experience a bit more fun/funny. I feel like they could’ve played an actual scary movie on the screen and had the monsters jumping out on people during the movie to make it a bit more entertaining because after maybe 45 mins, my children weren’t scared anymore. A few of the monsters were banging pretty hard on our car windows and pulling pretty hard on the door handles as well. Overall it was an OK experience.
Very awesome place. Great for nerds and geeks! Great attractions and decorations. I absolutely love the games, not too many arcades anymore which is sad. Drinks are fabulous and not too pricey each either. Only down side is they accidentally double booked their areas for trivia. But they were nice and gave us free drinks for it all!
These. Four. Stars. Are. For.Replay Lincoln Park. In the beginning I joked at the bar that she was the best bartender Ive experienced in 6 years (lived in Chicago for 11) but in reality shes the best Ive experienced... ever. Ive learned that these type of acknowledgements are important bc its important to understand the difference she made in a simple Tuesday Replay Lincoln Park.
This is specifically for the Highway of Horror hosted by Replay. My husband and I attended the Highway of Horror production on October 15th. Unfortunately, they werent fully prepared. We were parked next to the audio/visual van and overheard the person in charge of audio struggling to connect to the radio. Because it sounded as though they were missing a micro USB cord and an aux cord my husband offered them a couple of spares we had in our car. After 45 minutes they were still struggling so my husband ended up helping them out and eventually everything got connected. They then took my husbands email address and promised to send him some generous gift cards for helping during the whole situation. However, no such gift cards were sent. So essentially the 90 minutes we paid for was cut in half and they kept our cords because they needed them for the subsequent showings. Aside from that it was alright. It was clear the actors were having a good time and giving it their all. Im just salty I paid $75 and two audio/visual cords for half a production.
Love this place. Go support it. Fun games kool staff. Always something new when it comes too pop up bars.
Unique Chicago vibe! All Chi-Town very hio place to go. Check out the alley of darkness. Very cool.
Honestly, this drive in haunted house was completely misleading in its description and wording. This is not a drive thru haunted house like it claimed . This is a rip off and I want a refund !!! Outrageous prices from both the actual tickets and food truck. The only thing they did was play a lousy black and white movie off a dirty white sheet with actors roaming the lot banging from car to car . Definitely not worth going, save your money for a actual scare . I would Give this zero starts if possible . 0/10
Cute, fun place. Old school feel. All the games are free expect skeeball and air hockey
Me and my friends were so excited to go to this place because we couldn’t go to fright fest this year. So we were there we had to pull into a spot and they told us to turn on our radio so we did and it just played random noises, these “scary people” were hitting our car with rags, shaking the car, and got on top of the cars I wasn’t scared of them the thing I was scared of was them breaking my car. It was so unrealistic and after 20 minutes they were making us back up and I thought it was time for the actually show but they were making everyone leave. THIS IS THE BIGGEST RIP OFF I DON’T RECOMMEND GOING TO THIS PLACE THIS SHOULD REALLY BE 10 DOLLARS INSTEAD OF 75.
Highway of Horrors was a complete rip off. It was too lame for adults and pretty scary for kids. It started late, we saw an old horror movie on a half folded screen and some ghosts/ zombies came to our cars to scare us. There were too many cars and too few actors to make it interesting for 1 hour. Give it a miss.
Seriously fun kind of retro gaming bar. Went in 2018 for the Pokemon Go festival in June. They had a fun, special event going on and Pokemon themed art, statues, Twitch streams, and contests going on. They have lots of retro gaming machines. Would recommend, especially if youre in traveling and dont have an actual gaming bar where youre from (like me).
Highway To Horror was a blast! Scary enough for Adults to be entertained and definitely frightening enough for kids. Would recommend!
I must echo that the drive-in haunted house was a rip off! I wish I had read these reviews and save me $88! We could’ve stayed home to watch this movie on a full screen. The description is super misleading and we were overcharged. They could’ve at least hoisted a projection screen to be viewable by all. Don’t waste your time or money!
As far as it goes my kids were scared. Im glad this was available for my kids to experience. They did not expect it at all. We had told them we were going to see a scary movie.
Cool bar but the alley of darkness is a huge waste of money lol. I was finessed... $80 for 4 people to almost break my door handles off and to watch a 10 min clip made on iMovie?
Ordered tickets 4 nights ago for the stranger things patio. Tickets were for 8:30, we got there about 8:35 cuz we had to find parking. Once we got there they said they couldnt let seat us (even tho there were other groups that had just got there shortly before us) I was told to message them on Facebook to get a refund. I still havent got a reply from anyone or a refund. And tickets are still on thier website for 8:30 and 9pm everyday. Do not buy tickets for anytime after 8, they will not seat you or refund you. Im out $84 for nothing.
Alley of darkness was totally misleading in the description. We thought we were going to a drive through haunted house. Our tickets were for 9:40, we didn’t get into the alley until 11. Once we got in the alley..we pulled up to a legit bed sheet playing a YouTube video on a projector. On the Facebook page it says “you’ll first settle in with a drive in movie experience” The wording “first settle in” makes it sound like this is just the first part of the act and there will be an actual haunted alley, NOT THE WHOLE THING BEING A VIDEO. Nope, 20 mins later and we are still sitting there staring at a bed sheet while the same four zombies come and bang on the car window. Nothing scary or haunted about this, total waste of money. $70 to watch YouTube clips on a bedsheet in an alley. DO NOT GO.
Alley of Darkness was the worst experience of anything in the existence of anything ever. 70s dollars to watch a projected YouTube video on a dirty bed sheet. The only terrifying thing was charging 70 dollars for it.
Love this place even if the world is not the greatest year..
The Alley of Darkness was a total disappointment!! Don’t waste your time or $75!! A bunch of people walking around your parked car with some fake blood smeared on them. Nothing haunted about this joke of a haunted alley!!
I just came here with my brother for their SpongeBob theme it was pretty cool. He had the formula and I had to Sandy drink in the fishbowl. I didn’t really like my Sandy drink it was OK at the end once I was tipsy you did it it did the trick. I really didn’t like his drink but it’s probably one of the first he’s ever had one of the first. He said it was peachy he doesn’t like peach the one with the tagiin on the rim with pineapple looked good. I personally don’t like pineapple so that’s why didn’t get it. What was so cool is that they had sand in there like they went out of their way.
Highway of horror was not worth the money at all. Extremely boring, there weren’t nearly enough actors to scare all the cars that were there. Started almost an hour late too. Extremely disappointed.
Fairly decent Harry Potter themed Christmas bar. The mead was awful, I definitely would recommend but the atmosphere was pretty cool. Hogwart’s ended up being tucked all the way in the back but once we found it we had a blast hanging out for about and hour. Hope they do this again this winter (2020).
Don’t GO TO THE ALLY OF DARKNESS. Waste of TIME and MONEY! Complete waste of our LIFE!
This place was a ton of fun! We went here for the Harry Potter themed pop up. The Harry Potter portion was very tiny, it was just part of the back of the bar but the whole bar was themed different things which was pretty cool! In the front it was friends themed, (like the tv show) another part was rick and Morty themed (which granted I really dislike rick and Morty but I understand it has a large following of people who think theyre smart because they think that kind of humor is funny (which it really isnt)) Around the whole bar was a bunch of different games to play! From ski ball, to pinball, to a bunch of different retro arcade games they had it all! I would definitely be inclined to come back again! Also it was kinda cute how even the drinks were Harry Potter themed! I had butter beer, and they had some other cool colorful drinks!Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun night out and to get a few drinks! :)
Highway of Horror in downtown Chicago was the most horrible and embarrassing event I ever bestowed upon my family. From the time being delayed, to the horrible set up and traffic getting in. The terribly long lines for dirty port-a-potties, the YouTube movie playing on a...SHEET, that can barely be seen behind cars unless you were in front. The few actors walking around were laughable as they shook the car. Not worth $80 at all, and I wish you could get my money back!
Good beer selection. Open plenty late. Didnt try the food but it looked good. Lovable rotating themes - Middle Earth at present. Too many pinball machines, so the game selection could be better.
Love coming here for the pop up bars.
Lately Ive been eating less meat and more pasta so Ive been trying new Italian places. Pasta Sisters is now one of my favorites. Its a little hole in the wall but the timing worked out where we could get seating. I resisted my go to pesto gnocchi and tried the truffle spaghetti and my boyfriend had the mushroom porcini on pappardelle pasta. Perfection! We will definitely be returning. Ohhh, and we had the Sfogliatelle Napoletane as a dessert (crispy and flaky puff pastry filled with ricotta cheese and candied citrus)-YUM. The candied citrus is light to not overpower the ricotta cheese, loved it!
The Parks & Rec event was so much fun! Very creative yet boozy cocktails, and the decorations were awesome!
Decent variety of games, mostly all are free to play! The Lord of the Rings theme is fantastic. The drinks are slightly over-priced, but the free games somewhat make-up for it.Customer service is not their strong point, people behind the bar are usually on their phones and/or not too welcoming. The beer selection is very vast! They eve have my favorite beer, Golden Monkey!
Great place!Visited for the Salty Spittoon! Great specialized drinks and decor!!! Oh and the games!!! NBA JAM!!!!
Free games, decent beer list, fun pop ups. Great place when theres a group. Events and holidays are pretty sweet. It may take you 5 minutes to get a beer when its packed, and Ive had my card charged for others drink once. Just things to consider on super packed nights
So, then. Since it was Headquarters, Ive come here for a date, a birthday bash and just to have a beer and practice up on my pinball and never been disappointed. If the stuff on draft comes up short - hey, it happens - the selection of vintage arcade games and pinball machines certainly will not.
This review is for the Highway of Horror event. We were stuck in traffic for over 30 minutes trying to get into the parking lot. When we finally got in, my boyfriend went to get us food. We thought it was going to be tacos from the website but it was a pizza truck. The pizza was thin and took forever. My boyfriend waited for 40 minutes and missed almost all of the show. The actors did a good job scaring people and making sure you did not see them coming. However, it would have been nice to see a faster food vendor, more organization, and getting in on time.Original Review: Fun themes with themed drinks. A lot of activities outside the arcade game like trivia, canvas painting, etc. Overall a fun bar.
Great bar with fantastic drinks and amazing atmosphere! Plus, you can bring your doggo!
Great Arcade Bar. Almost all machines are in working condition. Plenty of new as well as classic games. Theres usually a fun theme that they circulate on a semi-regular basis to keep it fresh. Sometimes they miss the mark a bit with the music, but I guess that comes down to whatever DJ they have that night. Great spot to meet up with some friends and play some games while you drink. It does usually get fairly crowded though, but not so much that there isnt always a game you can hop on.
Great drinks, awesome decor (LoTR this time) and most of the games are free. This includes pinball, which is unusual due to how complex the machines are. The DJ this evening was also outstanding. I had a great time and will definitely come back.
So much fun! Currently there is a Game of Thrones pop up,it is amazing!! The games are all free besides Skee Ball! Great place! Friendly staff!
I’ve had better dining experience inside the restroom at a White Castle. Don’t waste your time or money
I went to a LOTR popup bar here on a Saturday night with 3 friends who all were excited about the prospect of having drinks at a Middle Earth tavern. The actual experience was more of hodgepodge of nerdy things with LOTR nostalgia being center stage. With the right group you wont mind when the Halo theme comes on, in fact, you might even enjoy it, and with no admission fee and sensibly priced cocktails always within reach, who cares?
Went to the game of thrones pop bar at Replay. It was nicely decorated according to the theme. Not too crowded and a lot of photo ops.
A must stop when youre in the area. Their pop-up bars are amazing and their staff is always friendly. Only down side is that there isnt a kitchen onsite, so food has to be outsourced and delivered from other locations.Games are fun and free, and the drinks are good. Not much else needs to be said!
Free pinball and fun people. Great place for a meetup. Who could ask for more?Relaxed, yet vibrant and embraces much that is great about Chicago.
The only reason it gets two stars is because of the game selection. My wife and I are visiting from out of town and was told they show Game of Thrones. I called and whoever picked up the phone was rude and hung up after a fast yeah. Should have known not to go then. We get there and the place looked awesome. Thry have all kinds of GoT stuff set up everywhere. Rudely met at the door by a guy who just said IDs, checked them, handed them back, and then just looked at his phone. We stood there for a few seconds before we asked if we were good to go and he only half replied with a shake of his hands. Now again, the place looks great and has great games. Services sucks hard. There are people sitting as 3 different bars and employees walking in and out of all of them. Never mentioned that only 1 is serving. After flagging down a guy behind a the 2nd bar I walk to and him walking off, I give up. Its almost 8pm and we just want to watch the show. We find 2 seats and sit. I end up seeing a bar in another area that is decorated like Fyre. Ask for a local beer and neither bartenders know if any beer is local or not. End up getting a random beer and two waters. Whatever. At 8pm, they cant get the show on. At 8:15, I see another bar with someone behind it, order one more beer, am given the wrong one as he walks off, finally flag him back down and ask for the right one, given excuses about how a white can with gold lettering looks like a green one with a rainbow taco cat on it, get it and leave. I tell my wife lets go, we will just watch it in our hotel room. We leave at 8:25 with the guy who is trying to search for somebodys personal HBO Go code to show the episode, which is illegal.I have been in the service industry 20+ years and have no clue how, besides the games, this place is open. Rude all around, staff who has no clue on what they are even selling, and not even being slightly prepared for their own events. Avoid drinking here at all cost. Go play some decent games though.
Absolutely stellar location - the decor will blow your mind with nostalgic pop culture props ranging from charming little bits to full-on massive sculptures shining with detail and complemented by colorful, darker lighting that highlights the number one amenity of the location - the arcade and pinball cabinets. Both were fully functioning, very clean, and offered nice little shelves to put drinks on when playing. The gentleman at the door was hilarious and very friendly. This place is great for any number of people - highly recommended.
I loved the set up! Best pop up yet!
Such a cool bar! Tons of GoT theming and arcade games
Supported the bar but was disappointing not worth the money
Always a good time! Can’t wait to come back!
Came here for the Harry Potter experience, was not disappointed, loved my butter beer.
Very cool that you can play almost all the arcade games for free. Loved the Harry Potter pop-up bar! Drinks were a bit pricey but average for Chicago.
Super cute. They have a great beer selection and themed cocktails. I also enjoyed their free to play arcade games
Omg this place was so amazing
Really fun bar & arcade. The Lord of the Rings theme was so much fun! And their DJ is *on point*
Bar games including skeeball and pinball, good beer list, bingo and fun events/pop ups. Order pizza in. Chicago Skee League tournaments/events
Place was expensive and dirty. Just look at the owner’s replies too lol. A place this bad wont last much longer, thankfully.
Place is great but can use better security staff, they are incredibly rude and racist. The bartenders are nice, good collection of arcade games and cocktails!I have been here around 5 times now and every now and then I can see a little racist attitude from the bouncers. I usually come here with my coworkers, 2 of us are asians and the bouncers are always rude to us and we honestly give them no reason to be. A simple question about where the restroom is, is answered with a mockery of our accents. Disappointed and have decided not to go here again.
Great idea for a bar. I’ve been to the other location before and the games were all free but we had to pay for skeeball here. They had an It theme for the weekend which was fun but mostly just cardboard cutouts and a drink menu. That being said, definitely worth checking out and I would return next time I’m in town.
This is one of my favorite arcade bars Ive visited for several reasons. First off, there wasnt a cover (I went on a Saturday late afternoon). The staff is very friendly and laid back. The games are free, except for like two. The drink priced were affordable and they had pretty good specials. They had a great game selection, and had a decked out pokemon theme which brought me back to memory lane. Highly recommend checking this place out!
Great place to play arcade games, go on a date, or just hangout with friends. Wish there were more shooting games but when its free, cant really complain a lot.
Fun fun fun! Theyre a cool spot for a couple drinks and games with friends. Featured pop up events like Friends and Harry Potter were lots of fun!
I visited this bar while in town on business. They were having a showing of GOT and I figured it would be better than watching it solo in my hotel room, and it ended up being a night I will never forget!! They have a large selection of delicious craft beers, the arcade games are free and, even though I was alone in an unfamiliar place, I didn’t feel unsafe in my surroundings at all. I come to Chicago a few times a year and plan on making Replay a place I continue to visit time and time again. If you’re on the fence, I promise you will not regret stopping by this one of a kind location!!
We visited Chicago for vacation and went to Replay Lincoln Park during the IT and Parks & Rec popups and it was amazing! The decor was on point and the themed drinks were great and not too expensive. The arcade games were free to play so that was a huge bonus! We had a really fun night.
Fun arcade where every game is free. A few games are in need of repair or were shut down. Good beer selection and a fun way to play a lot of pinball or old school arcade games.
I love this place. I have only been here twice but I cant wait to go back. Whats not to love? To start, they have free arcade games! It does get quite busy and you might have to wait a bit if you have your heart set on a certain game. However, you can dance your heart out in the meantime. I love the music selection the dj plays. They might only have dj on the weekend though. Theres an upper level, they have a bar. More games and a different dj up there. I love that they change the themes. I got to go when it was themed after Friends and Game of Thrones. They have different events during the week. I still havent had the opportunity to go to trivia nor bingo nights. Parking is scarce, but theres a lot next to it for $10. Theres also scarce for pay street parking. Bathrooms are pretty clean and the staff is always going around picking up used glasses.
Love the idea of the place and was looking forward to going. Was not a big fan of the DJ though. If the music was turned down a bit it would have been fine. Enjoyed the music playing just wasnt able to talk to my friends
Awesome atmosphere! The IT pop up theme was superb, as well as the Parks and Rec, and the drinks were great! It was very crowded, but that shows how popular it is! Definite check it out!
Tried to call to get more info on a pop-up event. Voicemail said the bar was open and the event was still going on. Paid to head there to find out not only was the bar still closed, but the rude bartender gladly said the event wasn’t for public.
Came for the Game of Thrones theme and very much enjoyed it. The free arcade games were also super fun (even though I wasnt very good at them). Unfortunately, service took a little while (maybe due to new drink menu?) and finding a place to stand while waiting for a game to open up was a challenge. Overall would recommend for arcade and game of thrones fans!
The alley of darkness event was horrible for $80 was not even worth it for a 17 min half effort experience
This place would have been great but 45min before closing the employees were turning off the games while people were still playing on them, and they were rude when asked why so early. Get some decent employees that arent rude.
This place gets my vote as the best barcade in Chicago. They had a pop up bar in the back which was based off the Office. The bar was made to look like the set of the show, they had specialty drinks, and were selling prints by local artists. The front part of Replay was just as great with so many different games to play. Was tough to leave this place, and could only wish I was in town for the Always Sunny pop up!
Replay is an amazing arcade bar. Just need to be 21+ to enter and 95% of the games are free. Lots of pinball machines, air hockey, typical arcade machines, etc. They also have themes from time to time (recently was Rick and Morty) and they go all out to really incorporate them. Ive yet to have a bad time.
Awesome arcade bar with plenty of games and beers. Most games are free to play.
I took my girlfriend here for her birthday to see the Harry Potter pop up bar on its last night, only to find out that the display was closed for a private event until midnight. As far as we know, the closing of the display was not announced publicly, which seems odd and unhelpful. We waited for 2 hours only to have the event extended until 1 am at the last minute. We were not allowed past the roped off entrance to even take a quick look at the display, and went home without being able to enjoy any of it. While we were waiting, the drinks were very overpriced, all the beers we wanted were out of stock, and a lot of the arcade games cost money, which makes me wonder why I would ever go here when I could go to similar bars where all the games are free. Ill give this place the slight benefit of the doubt, as it was a Sunday night, and the bartender was friendly and helpful. However, I see no reason to come back any time soon or recommend to my friends.
One of my favorite bars in probably the whole world. Almost all the games are free, and theres no cover most of the time. Its a great place to bring friends, even if theyre not drinking. The staff is easy going - no one cares if you just come to play and dont buy anything. Kitchen is very limited, but you can bring your own food. The beer selection is good, which is important since most drafts are $8 and up. Its fine with me though, because it pays for the games.
Great drinks and atmosphere. However, the food system is horrendous. It takes 45 minutes to get a simple appetizer. Don’t come here for food.
Replay had a deal on Facebook for $20 you get two tokens for two drinks. When we got to the bar the bartender informed us the drink options, which was very limited. The place itself was nice. I would of enjoyed it more knowing I didnt waste my money. Plus tax I payed almost $30 for limited drinks.
These guys really have their act together. Great cocktails, great games, great music, great space. Excellent selection of games and pinball. Convenient places to set your drink down everywhere. The only drawback is that it can sometimes be awkward what the etiquette is for waiting for a game when the games are free.PROTIP: Dont miss the 1-on-1 hockey game near the east bar. It looks very dated and simple, but it is a ton of fun against a friend.
Came here for the Parks and Recreation pop-up bar. Love the inspired drink menu they have. The majority of the arcade games are free, but you do have to for pay ski ball, basketball, and air hockey. Definitely a Chicago staple.
Stayed for 5 minutes wasnt my type of bar, only went as I saw an advertisement for it to be a pop up harry potter bar. That was not the case just a few harry potter decorations and they made some hp drinks and food. But I didnt try anything because they were some what busy but they werent trying to be attentive so I left
The drink selection leaves a bit to be desired, but you can’t argue with free arcade games. Replay is the only arcade bar in the city (I know of, feel free to correct me) that offers free arcade games with the purchase of beverages. The bar up the stairs near the back is the place to order drinks. The other bars are often poorly attended. They often have pop-up bar with fun themes. Would definitely recommend!
Loved the place! Great retro arcade place! 99% of the games are FREE! Was there for Rick and Morty pop-up and it was VERY good!
Lovw coming to Replay..love the variety of beers available. The staff is kind. I mean its retro gaming, who doesnt like to run around like a child.
1 Star for the trivia nights, 1 Star for the super fun pop ups, 1 Star for cheap drinks and no cover charge. The 2 stars off is because the place is pretty gross and rundown. Definitely needs a deep cleaning and a remodel.
Loved the Parks and Rec pop-up bar! Knope 2020
I really like replay! Free games, decent beer prices. I keep coming back even though I hate large crowds and loud music!
Greatttt place. Checks ID at the door so theres no need for the bar to verify ID. LOTSSS of free game options (with few exceptions). And a nice menu of drinks with a great twist on Lords of the Ring. If youre a fan pr can appreciate Lords of the Ring and WWE, this is your place.
I mean whats not to like. They have awesome pop-up bars within bars. Visited their Always Sunny Paddys Pub pop up and it was done with excellent attention to detail that hardcore fans could appreciate. All the games are free. Arcades. Pinball. And etc. Drinks are decent. Stick with beer tho. They have a large selection. Great for date nights. So many make out sessions.
Really neat barcade with a solid collection of pinball machines. I was a little disappointed with how few arcade games they had. They also have air hockey, pool, and skeeball which sort of makes up for not having a ton of great arcade games. They also have Miss PacMan.
