It is beautiful and in one of Chicagos hottest neighborhoods. Its walkable and the lake is easily accessible for swimming. You can lounge amongst the rocks or pitch a hammock under a tree. Take a swim or light a bonfire at one of the bonfire pits. Park is dog friendly the Fieldhouse is absolutely beautiful!

The area is very well kept, clean, and beautiful. There is plenty of gathering space to be with friends or family. And the rocks by the water are a beautiful place to set down a towel and look put into the lake.

Made a stop here after the Museum of Science and Industry. Sadly, it was a cloudy day. As a result we were unable to see the city skyline from the park. However, the fire pits available for use and walking/biking paths were wonderful and the views of Lake Michigan were great even in the fog. This is a good stop to make if youre in the area.

The most magical park in all of Chicago. Plenty of shade and sun, fire pits, cute groups of people just enjoying being outdoors and being together. In warm weather you can unofficially swim there (no lifeguards). I almost dont want to post about this place because its so fantastic.

Beautiful year round! It’s one of the most beautiful spots on the city. Come for a picnic (bring your grill or use the fire pit), a nap, a swim, a bike, a run. On the north end, a view of the skyline. On the south end, a view of beach and museum. Plenty of space for your dog to run around.Parking can be tough especially when the weather is nice, but the parking along South Shore Drive is free. No matter where you park, you’ll have a little walk beneath Lake Shore Dr. to get to the Point so keep that in mind when thinking about all the stuff you’ll be carrying.

BEST SPOT ON THE LAKE. There are fire pits, lots of trees, beautiful park too! The best spot here is right on the lake on the rocks. You can either face the lake, or MSI, or the skyline. This is the spot for a date or a party or just a random hangout. If I could give it six stars I would, however GOOGLE and its five star rating system prevents that. Go at least once, and dont take my spot on the lake.

Amazing, amazing, amazing!!! We spent the entire day, well into the evening! Just a note, get there early to claim a fire pit!! It is just picture perfect! The beach is a slight hike away. There are restrooms and showers to clean up in, though. The best part is the view! You can see our great city as well as the majesty of Lake Michigan! Completely peaceful. The parking is not bad at all, as long as you pay attention to your times. It is tuly wonderful! I cant wait to go back!

Hidden gem of Chicago. Barbecue and ultimate Frisbee are staple of summer in this park. Bring a blanket and a book for relaxed weekend picnick. Enjoy the unobstructed view of the lake and city sky scrapers. Get intimate with your significant other while you walk the dog in the park. Morning run and biking is a bliss. Be a respectful yet cheerful crowd for the wedding going on at The Promontory. This place embodies a definition of happiness. Just make sure you dont litter and clean up your mess before you leave as a courtesy to others.

Visit the other three seasons, Fall, Winter, and Spring! You will have the Lakefront almost to yourself. The Point, the lakeshore, and the lake itself are strikingly different across the three off seasons, as well as glorious summer. I took these photos on a 50F January day, 2017.

I attended a wedding here with my girlfriend and her family. I loved the area, and it had a very nice view of the water and skyline! The walk around the area was very nice as well. The only downside is that it was very hot, and although the way the building was set up to create a breeze through the doors, it seems like they werent running any fans or AC to help keep people cool on a 90+ degree day.

It is a-mahzing here! Just beautiful. You can see the downtown Chicago skyline and the industrial skyline of Gary, Indiana and East Chicago at the same time! There are four fire pits that are first come, first serve, and sometimes shared. People swim off of the rocks in spite of the signs, or you can sit on the rocks and contemplate the vast majesty of Lake Michigan. There is a building available for weddings and other events.

Some of the best swimming in Chicago. The part around the point is very nice but the real joy is swimming there. The water is crystal clear. Little to no litter and the majority of the time a decent crowd. Safe to bring children also. Children will need to be supervised because the lake depth does increase quickly there.
