We ordered take out from #TaoChicago. I originally saw the post about their Burger and they had me hooked and craving it all week. Well today I got to try it and it not only met my expectations but it exceeded and pleasured my taste buds. Yes, it was that good. But when ordering the burgers from TAO today we had to also get: the satay of chilean sea bass, crispy bao buns, triple pork fried rice, and thai sweet and spicy shrimp- my favorite.Thank you #TAO for starting my Labor Day Weekend right! PS Frank and I enjoyed the Burger/Fries and the Chilean Sea Bass and will enjoy the rest over the long weekend! You are reinventing yourself during COVID and I applaud you and want you to know how much we appreciate it. You reopened your doors, you are doing Dine in/Take-out plus now delivering to the suburbs. Bravo and well done TAO!
The food was very tasty, I got the barbecue duck fried rice and some friends got the lollipop chicken. The drinks were perfect and the mock tails were also a favorite. Our server is the only reason I’m giving this a 4, her service was not spectacle and she wasn’t friendly. Overall, ambience and food was a 10
If you are coming for the experience Tao gives a great vibe, service and display of beautiful food. If you care about how the food tastes - Tao will probably will be a waste of money. The atmosphere is wonderful. They really did a nice job with the decor. The service was great. The only issue was the the seating - the tables for couples are too close to one another - its like seating on the same table. It was especially uncomfortable when the man next to me start sneezing for a couple of times, or when the waiters backside start rubbing our table while he tried to reach forward. The food looked awesome, but was disappointing. The only good dish in my opinion was the Crispy Snapper. Its not that all the other dishes were bad, but they werent good either (taste wise).Definitely worth it just for feeling the atmosphere, but maybe eat something before coming.
This was our second visit coming to visit from Houston. It truly was a 5 star visit however at the end our waitress took over with patio dining and the gentleman who took her place was rude and abrupt when I showed him their no contact payment option wasnt working. And after spending $500 on dinner that was HIGHLY UNACCEPTABLE
Truly phenomenal service. The food is quite amazing also. They treated our party of 30 people like kings and made us feel special. So great to know that they havent compromised their standards during this pandemic.
We were dining 5 of us..10/25/2020 was so nice, food was good, until we were told to leave..as we need the table.. never. ..ever was told anything like that..ever..very disappointed, will never come back, will not recommend. Spend over 500$.
This is another great addition to Hundreds of Chicago amazing restaurants. I remember when this place used to be nightclub called Excalibur. It sure looks totally different a right now. Food and service is amazing here. So dont hesitate and make reservation right now. Highly recommended!!!!!
I heard about the TAO restaurant, only good, but you have to go and see. And very important to taste the food. I went to restaurants, but I can say that I ate the best food of my life. Pleasant music, pleasant atmosphere, quality staff and very well trained professional. For real five stars. THANK YOU, TAO CHICAGO, THANK YOU !!!!
Hype is the word that comes to mind visiting Tao restaurant in Chicago. The restaurant is a museum of elegant artwork imported from China. The upbeat music with your dinner is an old concept, but at Tao, it feels like you are dining at a Chinese museum with some outstanding collection of artifacts. At the time of my dinner visit, the lights went down, and the music volume went up. At times, it was hard to carry a conversation. I saw several customers pulling their phone out and turning the flash on to read the menu. The setting and atmosphere are nice and deserves 5 stars but the food is 4 stars. Plate/food presentation is excellent. The dish I recommend is Beef and Broccoli. Please check out the pictures associated with this review.
I wish there was a 4.5 rating, because Tao for dinner is a 4.5. We came here for a birthday with a larger group and this place knows how to handle bigger tables. The service was fantastic and the food was incredible. Its definitely expensive, but its on par with many other restaurants of this caliber in Chicago. The reason why I would rate it a 4.5 is really just because it has that machine like feel. They are turning through tables and bring out food so fast. Its an upbeat atmosphere and at times it can be VERY crowded. If you just want incredible sushi, I would probably recommend a different spot. If you want the experience of eating here, then youre obviously not going to get that anywhere else (upbeat atmosphere with incredible food that feels like Vegas.
Really expensive Panda Express. I prefer authentic chinese food. The food here has a sugary sauce coating reminiscent of Panda Express, but $30 for one item with no sides. It is not delicious. I prefer Lao Szechuan or Ming Hin for fine chinese food. Also, when you finish your meal youre treated to qr code payment and you have to spend 10 minutes figuring out their clunky interface. Regret eating here, but had to try it once.
I reserved a space for my birthday at TAO and the ambiance was absolutely perfect. The staff were respectful and went above and beyond. Every dish that we ordered was amazing, but standouts were the crab fried rice, orange chicken, and snapper. My guests were also impressed with the cocktails. TAO made my birthday celebration a night to remember and I will return.
First time visiting TAO, loved the design, had a really nice ambiance. The music the DJ was playing was good and not too loud that you couldnt have a conversation. The food was so good, definitely going to come back to try other things.
Feels as extravagant and fun as the Las Vegas edition. The Asian tapas menu is unique and diverse with something special for everyone. The food is exceptionally prepared and delicious. The visual experience of the dining room is something to behold. Cocktails are top notch. It’s really impressive how they hit all the right notes in such a large and popular place.
I really want to give this a higher rating. The food is great and the mood was good. However, the service was awful though. Our waiter was slow and never responsive and everyone treated us like they wanted us gone. We didnt feel welcome. Otherwise the food was amazing
I booked a table with a note that it was our anniversary and we would like a booth for privacy. We arrived for our reservation, waited a bit to be seated in a lounge area, and got to appreciate the decor and ambiance. To my surprise, we got the top balcony level booth and they congratulated us on our anniversary. Very nice touch! The view was fantastic and kept us out of the noisy ground floor level of the main dining area. Watching the Buddha with the projections was mesmerizing at times and the decor for the entire area is fantastic. Our service was top-notch! The food was very good, but the service was impeccable. Its like a choreographed dance routine - the waitress/host taking our order and checking in on us then directing a person to bring the water, another to bring utensils, another to bring the drinks, another to bring the food, etc. It was approaching the level of service at the Signature Room on 95th. They made us feel welcome and like we were very important to them. Was a wonderful evening!
Great ambience. Nice hosts. Most of the plates are shareable. Excellent set of cocktails and deserts. Black pepper chicken was average for me for the price.
This dinner was truly amazing. The ambiance is an experience all in itself. Everything was perfect. Our waiter, Walter was exceptional. He knew the menu like he wrote it himself. All of his suggestions were on point. The appetizers, entrees, and desserts were all made to perfection. Our absolute favorite was the Chilean Seabass. My family and I had a wonderful time, and cant wait to return!!
This place is so cool! The food was delicious, it’s expensive but you pay for the experience. The sushi was insanely delicious the Pad Thai was really flavorful also. I recommend sharing the food when you go!
Company holiday party was great! Food, folks & fun! TAO did a great job. Food was very good. DJ did a great job. The folks from the company who planned everything made it a memorable evening.
STAFF IS SOOOOO RUDE. The host was so disrespectful, abrupt, and just annoying. I’ve been to the one in New York and had an amazing experience, so I was shocked at how the staff treated my friends and I tonight. So disappointed.
Very unique setup. We went for a function in the club side. It was a bit over priced for the limited cocktail and hand-passed food amount. Glad we ate first, although what apps we did taste were very good. The music was so loud we couldnt carry on a conversation. This could be an issue with the party planning vs with Tao itself...
Chicago is not short on good places to dine, in fact it has many amazing places. One that offers more uniqueness is TAO, which not only offers incredible Asian themed dining, but is housed in a stunning nightclub within an old Chicago gothic building. Each TAO location in the US is magnificent, but somehow this one seems to fit the building architecture the best. Our business group held our awards dinner here and everyone was blown away by the quality of service, the food selections provided and the bathroom bar - something you dont see often. Definitely a conversation starter. So when in Chicago make sure to visit TAO, even if its only to belly up to a bar at the bathroom.
The service was great. Though we felt the food lacked taste.Incredibly beautiful inside.
Food was really good. The decor was amazing.Went for our anniversary; the staff and waitress were great. However the tables in the middle area are so close to each other (not a great choice for anniversary). But otherwise everything was good.
In Chicago for ALL Star Weekend, a really busy weekend for the City and Tao, I was thrilled that we were able to visit Director of Operations Brendan McManus and to see the Restaurant he was sent from new York to establish. He was an amazing Manager in new York who we met for years and always demonstrated excellence in his operations and customer staff (and who we considered a friend) and this gave us a opportunity to visit him (he fit my wife, celebrating a Birthday weekend, in for dinner) and to see his operations. WOW if you thought NYC was amazing what he has done with Chicago not only with the restaurant but nightclub (he granted us VIP status for a 10 minutes visit so we could see how adult kids enjoying the club…who he granted access)! Everyone local we spoke to that weekend, including the concierge at the Hyatt Regency who couldn’t fit us in, told us that Tao is considered the place to be and you could see if by how dressed up everyone was.First the restaurant is on a grander scale than NYC but is run extremely efficiently from the front doorman who had our reservations on a list and quickly got us in, to the front desk which were swamped that weekend but very gracious and welcoming to of course Brendan who so busy, made it a point to escort us to a table and then later stopped by to get us to the club later. He hasn’t changed and its so awesome to see the Tao Group has such amazing executives running their properties.Even though we had eaten earlier, we had to try the sea bass which has always been our favorite along with vegetables and as usual Brendan arranged for a nice dessert with a candle for my wife. Felipe our server was efficient and very polite. An amazing night and wonderful to see Brendan again being successful in Chicago.
I was really disappointed in our last visit to Tao. We went for my birthday because it was one of my favorite restaurants. The service was wonderful. We were able to get outside seating which was essential for my guests feel comfortable. The food was way overpriced and just not as good as I remember it. One of the items that we got the beef and broccoli was $50 and it was literally just pieces of beef in a few pieces of broccoli. Its something that you would have easily paid $15 for at a Chinese restaurant.we also ordered the appetizer that was some sort of fish on a stick. The sauce was just so overpowering least salty that I couldnt even eat it.Were going to have to find a new favorite restaurants because this one just isnt the same.
Attended the First Bites Bash after party in the night club. Drinks are reasonably priced for River North. The decor is phenomenal!!! And staff is attentive and courteous. Will return
Lively spot with an upscale vibe. Lobster and shrimp spring rolls, black cod and fried rice were all good. Drinks were good, but would have asked to avoid so much ice/dilution. Overall a decent spot for an evening out.
AMAZING! Top notch food and service. Chose to go here for our anniversary. We were not disappointed.
Great Chicago restaurant week selections! Beautiful display of the dishes. Could have had one less table for more comfortable space. Very interesting decor that is different from other restaurants in Chicago. They have a koi fish pond underneath their 20 ft statue. Staff was very friendly and accommodating! Looking forward to going back again.
Went there as part of Restaurant week Chicago 2020, have to say not the best deal in town, I could take few main course in the same price. The gioza was fried and good, the small steak was wonderful and the chocolate booms got only 6, not so special...but, Tao is Tao and the decoration of the restaurant was worth it !
Im in love with Asian food, any who! Me and my wife decided to pay a visit to TAO, never been to the one in Chicago. It was a nice day to do so. As we entered the venue they require a temperature check, which is taken on your wrist, after you are clear then you will be seated! One of the main reasons for coming to this venue is to visualize its beauty, so as we were taken to our seats the host tried to seat us in a corner dam near at the back door of the restaurant ! My wife was life HELL TO THE NAW NOT TODAY! so after discussion with the the hostess we were seated on the main floor! I didnt understand why this was not the first option I wont jump to conclusions but the hostess did admit it was his first day back after a long vacation so we will leave it at that! As we ordered our food noticing the tables were barely 6 freet apart, I could definitely here the couples conversation at the next table me and the wife were eavesdropping! As always we ordered up a bunch of food most restaurants are doing QR code for menus which is cool download on your phone after you scan the code. Our wait staff was awesome, the items on the menu were alittle pricey most expensive rice I ever had. I ordered the lollipop chicken, california sushi rolls, and the 8 greens fried rice..it was tasty . I figured the wife was not going eat all her food I always have additional storage for her plate. I definitely recommend this establishment but make sure your ready pay for the experience and the food. I almost forgot the bathroom experience just in case you gotta use it the Yang is the men restroom and the Ying is the female restroom.
We had to put down a deposit for the reservation and were not seated in the main floor, which us the entire reason we went there. Staff was rude about said we were 15 min late and that was the reason they gave our table to someone else. I wont go back just because the lack of hospitality.
Delicious! Awesome food and atmosphere. The potstickers were the best I’ve had. Will be returning.
Ohh I love this place! The place was brilliant and amazing! The food also taste good! We booked this place 2 days before the day we went. First day we came with no booking, the whole place was booked, and we decided to book in advance and got table the next 2 days. I tried olive fried rice. Taste good! Also brussels sprout, also good! My best friend tried a lot of foods, all of them taste amazing. My cocktail also nice. I heard they also has a nightclub next to the restaurant that start open at 10 pm (I didnt go). Overall, I had a great experience!
Was lucky enough to have a private dinner for 2. We had the entire restaurant to ourselves!Chef Mike has prepared the tastiest menu in Chicago !He puts a unique twist on everything. The hostesses were very friendly.Dress to impress. This place is fancy, but not pretentious.I highly recommend going to Tao
I attended an evening event here. The ambiance was super. Such a historical building--I remember it as the old Excalibur nightclub. The food for the event was delicious. There was always staff nearby cleaning up, which contributed to a positive experience. I highly recommend visiting this place, absorb the historic structure!
I loved Tao restaurant, first time we went and the food was very delicious, especially the Pad Thai and Sushi. The place is beautiful. We will definitely come back. The club is nice but not my tasting for music and I should mention its definitely not a dance club, since no one was even dancing nor the DJ played any whatsoever dance music. Plus too crowded. We left the club after two hrs and we are not coming back. The entrance I believe was $20 and sometimes $40 for guys.
A few days ago my friend decided on celebrating her birthday at TAO and I was actually pretty excited because Ive only ever experienced the club portion of this facility. As soon as we arrived, the hostesses notified us about the two hour time limit, how extremely busy they are, and there will be no possibility to overstay even though there were quite a few tables that remained empty during our dining experience. As a result, we were constantly keeping an eye on the clock, which personally speaking, doesnt make it much of an enjoyable dining experience if you feel like youre being rushed every step away.Ironically, the only thing not rushed about the experience was the service itself. Despite having ordered within the first 15 minutes, we only received our first appetizer 20 minutes later and thats without any wine, since that was brought to us afterwards. Food was brought out nearly an hour in, and thankfully it actually tasted good and is the only reason besides the interior why Im giving it a three stars. We ordered a variety of sushi rolls, filet mignon, and one of the pastas with shrimp. Sushi was fresh but bland and the pasta and filet mignon were absolutely mouthwatering. However, the highlight for me was the chocolate cake dessert served with ice cream; it was one of the best tasting desserts Ive had.Unfortunately, those pleasant moments were bittersweet ones with everything being rushed. We barely had enough time to finish everything and with staff members constantly trying to take plates with food away, it became irritating. Maybe if everything were brought out faster, the atmosphere would have been different but with such time limitations and with the overall pace of things, I would only recommend this place for cocktails, appetizers, and dessert.
Love the scenery and food was amazing, worth the wait and money.
Great food, service, ambiance. Every time I dine here I never leave disappointed.
This place was amazing. Everyone, from the service, drinks, food and ambiance. Simply amazing. Cant wait to go back for the lobster fried rice. The Bid Fortune cookies with White and Chocolate mousse. Yummy
Amazing! Their service from manager ro bartender to bottle girl were all spectacular!
Very lovely interior design and stunning artwork. The ambience was just right. Food was very food but even better, the desserts. I seriously was not expecting that!!! Im obsessed with the donuts dessert and molten chocolate cake. Definitely coming back!
Pretty impressed by the place! So beautiful and cosy. The food was incredible, we did the duck and it was really for 2, we were so full at the end!Thank you again for the experience! We will come back really soon
The Scallops were cooked to perfection. The curry sauce was a great touch. The Chinese broccoli leaves was very filling.
The staff is very friendly, the waitress approached me several times to know if everything was perfect.Great food, drinks, service, atmosphere, and I loved the final dessert with cookies and the secret messages. I recommend this place
Came here to celebrate my husbands birthday and we had phenomenal service and the food was incredible! The staff had a great knowledge of the menu and helped to make recommendations. The ambiance is gorgeous!
Really good food in an incredible atmosphere. You feel like you are walking into a castle when you come here. The beef and broccoli was fantastic. The menu had something for everyone, including a good cocktail and sake collection.
One of the most memorable meals ever! Great atmosphere, even better food!
Hey it’s always a great time. The food is pretty top notch, had to really complain about anything here. One area tat I noticed was how clean they kept the table and continued to wipe it off during the night. The desserts were some of the best we have ever experienced. Highly recommend for dinner, drinks then step into the Tau club next door for a few more drinks. Always a great time!
So I was there yesterday for dinner. I booked a reservation for their so called outside PATIO a day in advance and put a deposit of $105. I also requested the guy I spoke to over the phone, if we dont like the patio seating area, can we just get a table inside. Since they didnt have any pictures of their patio on their web. It wasnt even for 6 or 8 people that it would be so hard for them to get a table inside. It was just for 2 guest. Well the guy literally told me NO. Once I got there I found out its not a PATIO they are literally using their side walk as their patio. So at the Reception there was a girl name Elizabeth if I am not wrong, i asked her very nicely; if we could get a table inside? Instead of sitting under the tree right next to their street valet parking. She literally told us off, that they are completely booked nothing is available inside. By our table, random people were walking by with their pets and jogging and we were sitting under the tree, where I saw nothing but flies around our table. I humbly requested her again after ordering our food that if something becomes available inside, can we be seated because I have allergies to bugs and flies and I literally showed her so many flies around our table and again she straight up said NO. So I let it be! She was very rude and her behaviour towards her guest is not nice at all. You can at least say, I can try to do my best if something becomes available I will keep u posted but instead it was a straight up NO. Then around 8ish, I asked my server to book a reservation for 2 of my other friends coming over, our server said they are completely booked, no more reservations and their kitchen and the place will close at 9pm. So they are not taking anyone anymore. Guess what happened 15 minutes later, my friends showed up at 8:15 without reservations and they were taking directly taken inside and seated. That just blew my mind off, so I asked the server to speak to their manager, their GM Alex came and talked and explained us like maybe someone mustve left earlier than usual and that my friends just got lucky. Tbh, after I explained her the whole story, their GM was very nice; she explained everything and tried her level best to make us feel better about the situation. Also, I called the place at 10:15pm, to ask their names for the review and they actually answered and they werent closed, I could hear the crowd in the back. I just hate lies. I have been to this place many times before but never had an experience like I did this last time. I was very very very disappointed.
Made reservations a day ahead for a table of 4. Got there on time and had a wait of less than 5mins. Main course took a little while to be served on a Sunday night after appetizers, but was tasty. Server Eddie was polite, answered all our questions & made sure we were attended to in a timely manner. The ambience was unique. Background music blended in beautifully with the chatter of other diners. Ladies bathroom was exceptionally clean. The clubbing area we were told is open on Thur, Fri & Sat. Valet parking for the night was $17. Had a good time overall.
Had a large group of 8. They sat us immediately. The service was really good. We ordered 5-6 different apps. 4 rolls of sushi. We ordered the best things on the menu and it was all really good. Love Tao and the environment.
Food is amazing, drinks are great . Ambience is wonderful. Service is poor. Cost is high. It I am paying 250 bucks i would expect a good service
Tao is a great idea for groups, and just a nice night out for a couple. The ambience is very upscale, Asian decor everywhere. The lighting is on the darker side, which I like. Its a bit loud, feels a little more like a club feel with the music that is playing while you eat. The food is really good, great portions. You can share your dishes with others. I definitely recommend this place.
Ive visited Tao multiple times and maybe, just maybe this experience was an anomaly but wow, was this awful here in Chicago! We came in on a Tuesday night, walked to the fairly empty bar, waited, waited and waited. We waited for 20 minutes while we had servers and bartenders walking by without as much as a hello. Terrible service and an extremely poor reflection of this organizations traditional stellar everything. Very dissapointed.
Food and drinks were delicious, service impeccable. Tried the one in Vegas, very similar. Nice setup
Amazing atmosphere, great service. It was the ideal place to hold our company sales kickoff party.
Love the taste, and we had a great time with my friends here in Chicago. Great location
Excellent service and food, super dope vibe
The environment is amazing. I can’t believe they actually have authentic Peikin duck. Fortune cookies is bigger than my face. Drinks are also excellent. I will definitely come back.
We went on a Tuesday at 10:30 pm. Meal was lackluster and service was the same. Dont come hungry, youll be sorry. Atmosphere and decor is on par with Vegas Tao. Havent been there yet when it turns into a club but will when I have the chance. If you had been to the old Excalibur, youll be surprised to see they cut out the entire floor of the first level and made it into one massive room with a mile high ceiling. Well see whether this place will stand the test of time and continues to be a hot spot.
NBA All-Star Kick off party. Fun event!
Fancy club, great sound, amazing bartenders and of course beautiful people. Definitely my favorite place in Chicago. The restaurant is awesome as well. Everything we’y got was delicious: pancakes, lobster tower, some sweet grilled chicken. Reserve a table in advance If you plan to have dinner at Tao.
Amazing! The menu has something for everyone. However, for those that like simple food...you might need a little help finding it.The atmosphere is phenomenal. Such a cool place to take in the vibe and enjoy the experience. The wait staff easily handled our table of 8, even when we had difficulty making up our mind on food. They were patient and helpful through the entire experience. The food came out in a timely manner and everything tasted amazing. This place is expensive. Keep in mind this is the only restaurant offering this experience and food selection, so the price tag is subjective. This is a place I will visit multiple times.#letsguide #chicago
Formerly Excalibur, but other than that, there is no comparison. There are four of these restaurants, two in New York, one in Las Vegas, one in Los Angles. With that many and those locations, it is a must go to restaurant, especially if you enjoy Asian foods. Everyone at the table really enjoyed their food. They have sushi, stir fry, with great vegetables and seasoning. It is the in place to see and be seen. A large bar is filled with people everywhere and the large restaurant has different levels to observe and people watch. It is a bit noisy, so don’t go if you want a quite dinner. If you like good food and excitement, you’ll enjoy this one.If this was of help please “like” or like even if you didn’t think so.
Ofcourse the most awaited place finally covered. One of the most amazing, high-end, expensive and very royal looking restaurant in a royal looking vintage restaurant in downtown. We were party of 10 and they accomodated us very well.Reservations are required for this place.Food was very excellent and really deliciousWe tried oysters, raw fish, orange chicken.Food quantity is for 1 person only.Very fancy cocktails, loved tao old fashioned and yuzu samantha.Tao also has a night club which is 20 per person cover. All in all a very fine and good experience.
For the price it wasnt worth it, hopefully dine-in will be better
Food and ambiance was great. The decor was awesome, loved it!
Beautiful restraurant. The ambiance was nice. The people were friendly. The food was wonderful and service was quick. The only thing that I didnt like was the seating arrangements for couples (2 people). The tables are small and they cram about 20 tables all in one row. Theres barely room to get in and out of your seat and youre afraid youre going to bump the next persons table. Quantity shouldnt ever exceed quality in dining. Seems as if you have to come with 3 or more to get adequate seating.
Excellent place!
Beautiful ambiance inside but otherwise a little overrated. The food is okay but definitely overpriced. The night club was fine. Mostly irritated that we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated AFTER we had made a dinner reservation a month prior.
Great place with a great taste.
Dope Asian vibes. Great food. Covid friendly.
Great music! Good Food. High Energy Spot!
Very cool, modern Asian fusion restaurant right in the heart of Chicago. Higher end with a very diverse and unique menu, Tao is an experience as much as it is a meal. We decided to do the 4 course meal so everyone could indulge in all of the different meats, fish, rice, and dishes they make. A wide variety of sauces, flavors, and textures pushes the meal into a different category making it all the more delicious. A few of the things we tried: Seared scallops, wagyu beef, braised lamb, super fatty tuna sashimi, and pineapple fried rice, just to name a few. The service was great, fast, attentive, and full of energy. The atmosphere felt authentic, but not over the top. And they did not rush us at all (we were there 2.5 hours). Great experience, unique meal, and a great time with our group (9).
I prefer this restaurant very much. It has a happy spirit. The kitcen is good. the service is efficient and the crew is well trained. The cost is decent. profoundly recommend.
A little over rated... Food is okay... Service is okay... Its definitely fun, has a cool vibe, but the music volume causes wait staff to make errors while taking orders...Not quite the experience we expected.
What can I say about this restaurant. Amazing ambiance, amazing service and superb food. My wife and I decided to try out Tao in Chicago after visiting it couple of times in Las Vegas. The Chicago location is brand new and in my opinion better than Las Vegas. Food was very tasty and plus they had verity of vegetarian options. We ordered steamed dumplings, vegetables sushi rolls, vegetable udon noodles, spicy eggplant, spicy cauliflower and green fried rice. Of all my favorite was the steamed dumplings. Must try restaurant.
Great atmosphere. Fair drink price.
Great ambience ! Good food. Good place to go for large groups .
The ambience was very nice. The staffs are friendly. The price was not ridiculous like I expected. The drinks were so so. I havent tried the food there but I have friends who did and they werent impressed. Really wanted this place to be awesome because I live close by and would love to come here often.
Very nice decor, but that’s where it stops. Ok food and not very friendly service. Very cookie cutter like.
Great nightclub in Chicago. The nightclub scene is really scarce now, so its good to have one club that has plenty of bars and a spacious dance floor.
Hands down the most supreme club in Chicago. Just like it’s counterpart in Vegas, it is the place to be. There are three or so different club rooms in there but the interior steals the show. Dress really nice or see yourself not let in. Look good to get some “good looks” if you know what I mean
Our server Aries was amazing!! It was beyond packed because Pauly D was performing and she did such a great job taking care of our table. At one point she even had to be like our security guard to make sure no randoms were walking through our table. She was getting pushed and shoved from the crowd but she made sure we were having a great time. Finally an actually bouncer came to watch our table. Overall she went above and beyond for us and I really appreciate that. The bouncer also did a great job watching our table.
An ambiance like no other. Delicious food and wonderful setting for a date, girls night out, or special dinner!
The ambiance is outrageous! This place is soooo massive inside, yu dont know one from the other. The club vs the restaurant. Today, my review is based on the restaurant. It took 3 weeks to get a reservation on a good day, at a good time. Well worth the wait. Its beyond beautiful inside. Its officially a must in Chicago. Right now, this is the IT spot, so its filled with whos who. But as time goes on, it will eventually be much easier to to get in. Please dont let that discourage yu from going. The food is Thai, but totally different from the norm Thai. It all has a twist to it. The food I would give 4 stars. Hard to notice, since yur in one of the most beautiful places in Chicago. We tried the dumplings, good. The shrimp tempura, great. The hot soup, good. The ribs, good, the grouper, excellent. The steak, good. The kung pao cauliflower, great., and a number of cocktails, fantastic! :p
I had my New-Years Eve Celebrated here with my Friends. At that time this place was Lit. Awesome Music in nightclub Food was Great and Drinks were Fab. Love the Aura here and the Asian cuisine they serve is their best.
My friends and I went on a weekend getaway to Chicago, and had reservations to dine in at TAO on a Saturday night. It was an extremely busy night. So, it did take a long time to be seated after our reserved time, however the manager that evening and staff at TAO went above and beyond ensuring that my friends and I had a great dinner experience at the restaurant. The food and drinks were absolutely amazing!I cant wait to make another trip out to Chicago and check out TAO again, and hopefully be able to make it to the club side as well next time!Thank you
Now, 2018-2019, I can say this is the best Night club in Chicago area. The music is super nice, very energetic, and makes you move, even if you are not really up to... there are always 1-3 DJs and PJs - girls who are dancing on little “stages” - very beautiful girls, usually 4 girls, dancing 2 for about 30 mins than changing with the other 2 For parties and celebrations- tables are available for reservations. We prefer going to TAO with a table only, because it is much easier to keep your stuff and manage the party . Beautiful, new, modern, Japanese style Love it
Upscale, classy place with a young crowd and great food. You get what you pay for here and its worth the price. Great place to go to meet people.
The place is gorgeous, if for no other reason go and check it out. Prices werent over the top for the area. Service was a little slow, but that couldve just been a weird night. The crispy rice with spicy tuna was outstanding.
Our waitress Nina was one of the best waitress I’ve ever had! She was super attentive to what our table needed and she even went out of her way to personally help a friend who wasn’t feeling great! She treated us like old friend in the best way possible. The environment made it such a unique experience but Nina is the reason I will be returning
I like this night club. Is the best in Chicago! Is not cheap but if u have money to spend for relaxation, go to TAO night club.
Great Ambiance but the food is overly sweetened. Also director of operations is not very friendly.
Great food. I love what they’ve done with the place. It’s tough to get a reservation and the place is hopping on weekdays too. The chicken gyoza, prawn tempura, lamb chops and wagyu beef were a few of our favorites. The Hong Kong noodles and Mongolian beef were great as well. Our server recommended the lobster and shrimp spring rolls, but they seemed a touch fishy for our palate. Great experience. The service staff could stand to be a touch more warm and welcoming, but they probably have to be mini jugglers all day and seemed preoccupied.
