Pretty legit spot to watch games as a local bar. I live around the corner and probably best goto spot.HOWEVER. If youre white and wear a suit into here, even if the Macys one day $100 special suit, know youll get looks.
Great for young people, the music was a little slow at first but got way better.. everyone there was friendly. My only complaint is the drinks we received. I’m pretty sure our second round of drinks were made with clear liquor, when we requested Crown & lemonade. It tasted totally different from the first drink (which was crown & lemonade as well).. it was light in color and I know what crown taste like
I went there for the first time for my cousin birthday outing and I truly enjoyed myself!!!!! I would have given it 5 stars but this place is small with no dance floor really. Will go back again for sure. Nice mixture of music and people just having a good time with no drama. Laid back and nice vibe. Good for date nights or ladies night!
I enjoyed myself... Nice crowd mixed age groups.. music was decent and drink prices were not too expensive.
Give the bar more tenders!!! Besides that I love this place. Cheap entry fee, good drinks, good old black love too! Mixed ages & new music.
Tried it out for a Saturday night. The place was packed with what seemed to be locals. Video screens along the bar to go with the DJ beats. Mostly strip club music complimented by the videos on the screen. Overall, a cool place to chill. Small and tight with a shotgun layout, no dance floor.
The drink was cut...definitely wasn’t Patron. When I asked the bartender about the drink, she openly admitted she just pours the bottle but as been told the drink aren’t right several times. The bartender also stated they did not have a manager lol. Ok, good music. But now I have a headache from knock off Patron/tequila. Bottom line, I’m visiting from out of state and will never go back.
Went on a Sunday night and was told at the door that they dont allow hats. I took mine off and agreed to not wear it in their establishment. Walked in and there were two other people inside with hats on...guess this rule only applied to me. It seems like a locals hangout. The space is small and once there are more than about 30 people inside it can seem crowded.
If I could give it no stars that is what they would have. The liquor is fake, it’s not the cleanest place and the bar tenders act like they don’t have a clue about anything. The main thing is the liquor being mix. This can effect someone’s health. I will never come here again in life
Sunday night in this space is the place to be. It’s a recreated space for women of color who also identify as queer and/or lesbians. As a man it was noted that I was a “guest” to the women in the room, and I respect that. Thanks for creating a space where queer people of color can be respected, honored, and loved. My best friend and I had total blast.
My friend and I came in town from St. Louis. Heard about this bar from a old SIU friend. We got there, it was a little small but the music was good. Bartenders were nice also ! We got invited into one of the sections with some fellow SIU peeps. They had got a few bottles by the end of the night the girl who did the bottles never came back with our friend credit card. So we waited and waited. Now the lights was on and she told him she lost his card. We all was looking around before Security told us to leave. Long story short my friend didn’t pay for the previous bottles he said the manager said she will take care of it! Don’t find to many nice peeps like that in the bar business! I will be coming back soon! And the tacos was amazing !
Dont use your credit card.I obsessively check my card statements. I know the total amount I left. It wasnt what I was charged. Also - the crowd was much less than refined.
Why would you finish the bar with wax or whatever type of glue that would not be dry by the time you open for the evening to serve patrons. It’s 9:30PM and the bar is taped off because you’ve put some type liquid finish on the bar and it has now ruined my dress because I leaned against. That is inconsiderate and just a bad business move all around! You’ve ruined my $90 dress and the drink was bad. Won’t be back!
I like this place. It is a really chill place to go to after work. I only go on Thursdays when they have $6 grey goose specials. I will say that the crowd has kinda changed up a little since I first went. Its definitely more of racially diverse mix, but only after work Mon-Thurs.
South Loop Hot SpotTantrum is one of my favorite bars in the South Loop. Great crowd, laid-back atmosphere, good live DJ, dimly lit, and friendly bartenders. I wish theyd make their own sour mix, oh well, you cant have everything...I had a nice cognac with my cousin the last time I was there and hope to visit again soon.
Just one complaint...its too small. Really need to expand or have a set number of people allowed period.
A friend recommended Tantrum to me and I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoy going on Thursday nights, its not too crowed, its very small inside and can fill up quickly on Saturday. Music is hip/hop R&B.
Great drinks. Great atmosphere. Professional crowd. Bomb music! I will return.
Cool place to go when you want to boogie down aka dance or have some drinks and mingle. I used to have an office close by which made it a great place to go have a drink after working late in the office. The people are always dressed up and ready for a good time. The staff is accomodating and what you would expect at a Chicago nightclub. You should check out their weekly roster of DJs, always something going on at this place.
Im trying to find a reason to give this place 3 stars given how many times Ive frequented it. But my frequency is largely due to where its located and its the closest bar in the area where I know I can find black people.Place is super small and has a tendency to get crowded. Drinks are little bit pricey and I agree with the consensus, the bartenders do as little as possible to make conversation.I try to also go on nights when one of my friends are DJiing therefore I can just stand in that area and listen to good music. Besides that I rather just go to the 40 other places in the South Loop where I can feel relaxed while having my drink.
Cozy bar in the chic and lately-come-up neighborhood of South Loop, in Chicago. This is a great place to enjoy good music and a nice drink with a friend, meet a new friend, or just enjoy some pretty awesome people-watching!Parking is available in a lot or on the street, both paid. You can arrange for carry-out delivery to here, on nights when the complimentary hors doeuvres are finished.
The place was great, the environment was good & it was a grown and sexy kinda atmosphere
They have good music and thats about it, very small and drinks are to expensive might be good for a private party
I heard that this place had $6 Grey Goose specials, and a great dancing atmosphere. I went on a Thursday night, at about 10 pm, but there were only about 10 people in there. The drinks were watered down, and the dee jay was not that good at all. I wouldnt go back.
Do not use credit cards! My friends and I were all charged for bills that did not belong to us. And it has happened on more than one occasion...
Nice cozy place
Not really a Night Club. A small spot no dance floor
The drink prices have increased and the waitresses are hit or miss.My least favorite thing happened on my last visit:Me and some friends come in to watch the playoffs and grab a table. the lady takes our orders and when she brings back the drinks, she wants us to open a tab or pay-per-drink. And shes not moving til we hand over Visa or cash! Now I understand the need to gaurantee the tab will be paid, but they need to find a better way to communicate this to customers.Im not trying to encourage profiling, but ummm.... me and my crew are bourgie black folks and we look like it. Were not walking out on the tab maam. So i was NOT feeling that.Ive been there and had a really cool server, but that ONLY (and I mean only) happens when Im introduced to her by a guy she already knows. Like they gotta clear me as one of the cool kids or somem. Wtf? 0_oThats all. I only go to Tantrum for events now or when I know DJ World or DJ INC is spinning. otherwise i can be overcharged for drinks and treated like crap in the Gold Coast.
Real cool urban spot hottest bartenders in the city
They charge you top shelf prices for cheap liquor. ( NO TOP SHELF ALCOHOL)
They judge you based on your clothes and who you know. If youre from out of town you probably wont get in
The DJ was real good!
Nice place to listen to music
My beer was stale
Great spot, courteous Staff.
Nice small lounge
Nice atmosphere
Pros: Real chill lounge area, nice musicCons: small space if it gets crowded
Tantrum sucked balls. I didnt have a lot of fun here. Neither did my friends.
