Personally I feel like they let way too many people in and it becomes the feel of a rave instead of a club. If they didnt let everyone in the door and kept it to a lower capacity this would be an unbelievable club hands down.

This club is a real cool, fun, and interesting experience. Good times any night of the week! They play different genres, depending on which night it is, and always have good DJs! The atmosphere is cool, non-pretentious, and great for people watching and dancing. Their beer selection is better than most clubs, too. The management here is excellent and they have really cool staff.

Place is in need of a remodel . Its in a basment and they have smoke machine that blinds you for seconds when it activates. Crowd tends to be on the ghetto side and dress policy is not enforced. Never coming back to this place. Music is good though thats why I gave it two stars. Also never leave your tab or they will charge you more. Good luck if you go.

I have very mixed feelings. Music was good. It has a great beer selection for a night club, but I really dont get the cover charge, especially considering that the place was mostly empty. There are plenty of other bars in the area that charge far less than the $15 cover that this place doesnt really command. Once you get past that its an alright spot though.

Came to Primary while on a work trip to Chicago. Was looking for some good electronic music on a Thursday night and according to Yelp this was one of the better places to go. The cover was $10 and I was initially thrown off by its location but the lighting system and the Void Sound System (looks like they use the Air Motion product) definitely rocked this place. The crowd and well everything about this place was eclectic. They definitely were not playing main stream electronic. The night we went it was pretty heavy, but good nonetheless. I would definitely return on a future trip.

Great music and good people on the weekends here. Want a place to hear good house or techno, then come here. Also a place that you can feel safe being yourself, as well as not feel bothered as a female by lots of unwanted attention that you find at a lot of other clubs

Im from out of town (Detroit area) and wanted to hear some good house or techno. Went there to hear Gene Farris spin on a Saturday.. at 11:30 there was no dancing. But I wanted to give it a try. Security was paying me extra attention, and I got a weird vibe. The bass was too loud. Even with earplugs I was uncomfortable. Ultimately I took off pretty quick after paying $20 at the door.

Finally a club that is more concerned about the music then about what their clientele is wearing. If you are looking for a club with no dress code, amazing house music, bangin Void system and welcoming staff then Primary Night club is definitely for you. Its in an interesting location, a gem in the middle of many bro bars but this venue will not disappoint. Make sure to reach out to the club if you are interested in reserving an area and purchasing a bottle; they are extremely reasonable.

Home for house music! Always a great time and an awesome intimate setting. DJs enjoy it just as much as the crowd here!

Drinks are affordable, well atleast as drinks at clubs go. The music is pretty good, but the atmosphere is awesome. Great people and friendly staff.

An okay club if you like house music and EDM (or whatever its called). Not my first choice but its better than going downtown (near the loop) and the owner Pedro is REALLY cool!! The bartenders and other staff are pretty cool too.

The club was empty all night. Pretty much a sausage fest. Only giving it 2 because the drinks were relatively cheap

DJ has no idea how to flow songs together. The drinks were overly expensive, and the bar takes up half the club. Not worth it.

Okay so me an my friends were looking for a cool place to go at 20 and 19 year old and this place came up as 21 and older we drove all the way from the suburbs to Chicago to get told its 21+ and all the clubs on the block did. We called before and the lady on the phone said we was available and was told different and the door !!!! IF ITS NOT 21+ DONT PUT IT ON THE PAGE AND TELL YALL EMPLOYEES TO ANSWER THERE PHONE

I got here around 11 to find the place dead, it doesnt get busy till around 12 or 1! Drinks were fine, lil on the pricey side but fine. I didnt stay too long due to some overly pushy guys making me and my sister feel uncomfortable.

Environment is cool just not as popping as it should be for a Friday or Saturday night. Gets busy around 2:30 AM I feel

The sound system is pretty incredible, and they recently installed a nice led backdrop. I recommend you bring ear plugs.

This place is horrible. DO NOT GO HERE. I paid $20 cover only to be told I cant get in and got physically assaulted by the door staff. They refused to issue a refund. Did nothing wrong except complain about getting my money back. The door guy with the beard was especially rude. The owner/manager is a joke. Laughed in my face. Not how you treat customers after they paid you their hard earned money.

Came here for an afterparty and it was pretty decent. Good music and sound system, and a decent amount of space. The cover charge sucks though, and the place was pretty empty on a Saturday. If someone you like is DJing here go ahead and check it out, otherwise there are far better places to stumble into at midnight.

Low key, good area, good drinks, chill staff, nice booths, good for a long night of dancing. djs are usually on point and many are underground.

A great place to visit for house, techno, and other less mainstream EDM genres. Chill atmosohere, no dress code. Much smaller than places like Evil Olive, Smart Bar, or even Spy Bar. Can be intimate on Fridays, but also very crowded on Saturdays.

Music was good. However the place is a dump and charged everyone in my group $30 cover. Outrageous price considering the venue is unfinished, stinks and has barely any air circulation. Also very small.

This places its very unprofessional they let their works drink get super drunk even the barback what kinda job they doing they supposed to work not to get drunk. And on top that while they drinking & getting drunk they get really un respectful with the customers one time one of the barback was so drunk the he was touching one of my friends ass being so nasty we totally put a complain on him. I totally didnt like it at all. & Im serious taking this to the next level Im definitely letting the social media know about this club.

Tried this spot out because its close to my house, and I wasnt into the guest DJs playing my usual spot to freak out on a dance floor. The music was decent, mostly deep house, and there were always plenty of folks dancing (It was a Friday with resident DJs). Unlikely that Ill go back though because the dance floor itself is awful. Its made of the sort of rubber surfacing youd find in a gym laid down over an uneven floor, creating lots of small hills and valleys. The rubber is, of course, super grippy, and I nearly turned my ankle multiple times trying to pivot. Unworkable for sliding footwork. Too bad, its otherwise a good enough spot to get your freak on.

Probably the best club in chicago with Smart Bar when you want to listen to independant house and techno music

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!Let me start by saying that I really liked this place for the sounds quality and decent underground DJs (Lane 8 was amazing!). However, this all changed on Saturday night (4/16) once I went outside for a smoke and some fresh air and then was not being able to get back to the club. Apparently, I was too drunk to get back in. My other two friends (who had more drinks than me) were let in with no problems.Thats after paying $20 for cover and only spending about an hour in the club. Of course, no refund was given and the bouncers (big black guy especially) and the manager were super rude and unprofessional.Like others mentioned, the drinks were also overpriced and weak. We left the place and went to Spy Bar instead. I would recommend you do the same and AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!

Door staff lies and tells you one thing but its really another. Guy to girl ratio is aweful and just a bunch of dudes wearing sneakers. I work downtown as a concierge and I would never recommend Primary Nightclub, you can keep your 20$ Subpar
