A beautiful building with amazing history of one of this countrys oldest philanthropic organizations.
This place has a lot of hidden treasures as well as history. Its a great place to go visit and spend an hour or so looking at historical items as well as architectural designs.
Such a hidden gem -- right in front of you! Tours are free (donations recommended) and itll probably only take you half an hour. Sounds weird, but make sure to look at the washrooms-- a blast from the past!
Beautiful building, this national HQ for the Elks club is a grand space and for a great organization. The Elks Club is well worth being a member and supporting their great causes plus the clubs social aspect is very fun
Hidden gem in the city. It is a MUST if you are visiting Chicago. Comparable in art and the magnificence of the building to European castles.
Beautiful piece of architecture
Wow what a place really nice a gem of the city . not that crowded usually
So amazing on the inside. Like the pantheon only more ornate. The murals and decor capture the feel of optimism and grandure of a past era. Worth the time to go to the lower level to see old rose bowl parade float models.
The elks is a no good organization
Great place. Its free, not busy and very clean.
Beautiful building, stunning architecture, with paintings and decorations. It is all about American Soldiers. Admission is free. Visit can be combined with Lincoln Park Zoo. It does not take a lot of time
Elks care, Elks share...helping our vets, youth and supporting a better future.
This place is fantastic. First of all its free. Yes, no admission. The Architecture of the buildings outside and grounds are nice. We had walked by it many times and I wondered what it was. Thought it was nice except for the fence. I noticed that it had open house daily from 11 - 4 or 5. I visited a few days later for the first time and I honestly think I gasped when I went in. I just wasnt expecting it to be so beautiful. The room you enter into is so grand with lots of Marble and a beautiful ceiling. The best part is that, thats not even the best part! You enter another room that is even more beautiful. I dont want to describe it so you could be surprised as I was but its a beautiful contrast to the first room. Then in the basement there are a lot of glass cases with reproductions of floats that the Elks have had in numerous Rose Bowl Parades. Fun to look at. When we have company we usually go to the Lincoln Park Zoo (Free), then the conservatory right outside the park with all its gorgeous flowers and plants (also Free) then to the Elks Head Quarters (Free). You will have a day that would normally cost $80. per person all for free. You will LOVE it all! With the money you saved you can go out to eat somewhere on Clark or pack a picnic. Oh by the way. Elks is closed for the Winter reopens in May. The Zoo and Conservatory are opened every day of the year.
You have to see inside this building! So, so beautiful. Some great architecture outside too.
Sensory overload for photographers. This is an awesome place for anyone interested in photography and want to shoot wide sweeping architecture. The main dome and the carvings and wall paintings in the library is mind blowing. Do bring a wide angle lens though :-)
Ive walked by this place a few times as Im sure many others have. Im glad we went in & toured the beautiful memorial that began as a tribute to WWI veterans but then later included veterans to all US-involved conflicts. The woman who greeted us was extremely informative and thankful that we came. She explained that the bldg was 90 years old this month. Everything in the bldg is the same age: from the imported marble to the alabaster light fixtures. A must see
Breathtaking museum ! must visit
Awesome place to visit and the guide Gloria is very knowledgeable!!!? Beautiful building
A hidden gem in the city. Its a beautiful building to tour. It is free but they have a donation box. Well worth it to throw a few bucks in the box and look around.
Came here for open house Chicago, though apparently now that they have completed the refurbishment its open most days to visitors. Its a beautiful old war memorial with greek columns, marble and beautiful paintings inside. One of the more sneakily beautiful places in the city.
Elks members should go no matter what. If youre not an Elk go anyway! Its free! Veterans go and see this it was built in our honor.
You will know more than you ever wanted to know about the elks. and charlton heston
Very interesting piece of history to explore in Chicago! Free during daytime hours.
Magnificent and beautiful building
Absolutely beautiful!
Beautiful building with a lot of cool Elks historical artifacts. Its free which is a bonus. It only took about 45 minutes tops to get through the whole thing.
Gorgeous building!
If you are lucky enough to stop by when it is open to the public I highly recommend it.
Great place to check it out ..have fun
So fun. The greeter lady gave us a quick overview of the place, some neat facts, brochures, then let us explore on our own. Lots to look at, we didnt have time for it all.
An unexpected gem in the Lincoln Park area with exceptional old world interior.
Beautiful interior; well worth a visit if youre in the area or combine it with a visit to the Lincoln Park Conservatory.
Great architecture, sculpture & paintings, along with history. We went during Open House Chicago which is where historic architectural buildings are open to the public.
Very interesting place, with lots of history
Great architecture, inside and out. Worth a visit
Beautiful architecture. A must see in Chicago
Neat-looking historical building. Really cool!
Very cool to see all the architecture and design inside and out!
Interesting venue, Beautiful building
Awesome interior details that are hard to find in architecture
Too bad they dont provide clear information about the schedules on their official website. Disappointed and outraged. A national memorial site and Chicago landmark can not allow this for any visitors.
Beautiful spot!
